Brisket sandwich was AMAZING!!! So tender and great big portions! Definitely recommend!
Had an amazing experience here with my family. Besides the food being really really good, Greg the bartender was AMAZING! Extremely personable and gives off good positive energy. The smokehouse wings are great and their fries are different but in a good way. Thanks Greg for the hospitality!
I liked the fact the place sells you meat by the pound. I got brisket 🐄 , took it to share at a table with my family. The whole pound I ordered was gone with in minutes. Delicious, tender and perfect bbq suace to dip in. So good I went back for a rack of ribs. Just as Delicious and gone when I took it to share with my family. I recommend this place, it is worth it .
Ribs were dry as could be, had to wrestle them off the bones. By the 4th one, tried using plastic knife and fork, which couldn’t cut through either; eventually just gave up. Coleslaw had no flavor and was very dry and inedible, mac n cheese was under seasoned, cornbread were like cupcakes from a box. Brisket was good, and the fries were good - the only two things worth ordering. They also don’t validate parking downstairs even though the garage says parking for Aces - so expect to spend an extra $4-$5 if you want to park there.
Terrible bbq. The brisket was SO DRY. The ribs looked promising but were also dry. None of the sauces were good either so there was nothing to help offset the dryness of the meat. The cornbread was way too sweet and tasted like a cupcake. Total waste of money
Spare ribs were great, the fries were to die for. Thank you very much. Id love to come back
Absolutely amazing service! Loved the atmosphere! We had a group of 8 and everyone’s food was perfect! Highly recommend!!
Ok; We we’re looking for some good bbq and this place came up in our search. Our first clue should have been that it was empty at 7:30pm on a Saturday night in the height of the busy summer season. The next downer was that you have to order at the cashier right when you walk in. It’s just difficult to do it under the gun, looking up at a menu in the wall. This whole operation is self serve. No wait staff and you have to go get your food from the cook when it’s ready (buzzersystem). My son and I both got the one meat combo (bback ribsthat comes with two sides. My son told the cashier that he wanted the one meat combo with bback ribs , I ordered the same, but I guess I said the “one meat 1/2 rack combo with two sides “. Be careful how you word it, because if you say the later, it’s $10 more for the same meal. U may get 1 or two more ribs, but not worth it. You also have to order your drinks there as well. Everything in cans or plastic bottles. It’s unfortunate, because then they get warm as your eating. The next downfall was that the food was ready in like 2 minutes which mean it’s all been sitting, ready to shove out. Fries and onion rings were just so so. All other sides and salads come in plastic clear to go containers that were pre packaged. The real fun part was that all condiments, utensils and paper napkins are all self serve. All the utensils are plastic, which just feels cafeteria-like. The final fun times was the paper napkins. It’s a bbq place, so chances are that u will be eating ribs with your hands. The ribs were decent enough, but sticky, so just imagine the paper napkin shredding and sticking to all your fingers as your trying to eat . They also have implemented a $4 surcharge (per order, I believe), to compensate for the raising of minimum wage. Then they want you to add a tip on top of the already high prices. I’m was thinking…”Ummm…a tip for what , exactly?? We order with a cashier, get our own silverware, ect AND have to go pick up our own food……I had never heard of or been to a fast food bbq joint, until now. The bill was over $60 for two meals. I addressed my over charge with the manager and got my $10 back. We also noticed as we were sitting there that people were sending (walking them upsides back because they were burned. Not a good experience at all.
They charge a 4% cc fee. Meat was mediocre. Sauce was very tangy. Prices are high.
It was alright. It was very obvious the food was not fresh. Chicken thighs and brisket was dry. Quesadilla cheese tasted weird. I would not return. $120 better spent elsewhere
Overall good BBQ. The sauces were all good. The pulled pork being very shredded absorbed the sauce quickly. For nearly $30 the 2 meat combo had a nice portion for pulled pork but maybe only 2oz of brisket which was quite disheartening given how tasty. Maybe they were running out? But then give full portions and stop selling it! The cornbread being ~$2 was quite small (cupcake wrapper but half as high as a cupcake). I am still giving 4 stars because i would eat here again but would clarify the portions and maybe just get the sandwich or sliders. The onion rings were good!
The burger was eh.The onion rings were good and the sweet potato fries were better. The portions on the combo were tiny and the cornbread was mini cupcake size.Their sauces were good. Not the quality I was expecting for the price.
The burger patties are frozen and low quality. The brisket is very stiff. There is no regular BBQ sauce. The sauces they do have are disgusting. They charge a standard service fee. They need to change their cook. $40 for a cheese burger and a brisket sandwich. The fries are good. If you are used to good BBQ, this is not for you.
Food: 3.9Service: 5Vibe: 4.6This restaurant jumped out at me as I walked by because it smelled good and the energy was good! 👏🏽If you’re hungry, the food here gets the job done. The food received a low score because it wasn’t seasoned well enough. I chose to use a lot of their bbq sauceI tried the following food and put it in the order of most liked to least liked!!Corn bread, ribs, sweet potato fries, wing’s, corn with onions and peppers, Mac and cheese, brisket.Things to Know:-I did get here 2 hours before it closed so maybe the food would’ve tasted better if I tasted it earlier in the day 🤷🏽♂️-offer three options of bbq sauce.. pretty tasty!!-A LOT of seating inside or outside-the outdoor seating is covered and has space heaters 👌🏽-they offer a variety of food choices
Ace high saloon & smokehouse 4125 Lake Tahoe Blvd K, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150 USA. Located in Tahoe lake south. Delicious typical American food.
$32.00 for dried out, flavorless, inedible meal. I couldn’t even pull the ribs apart. The chicken was like jerky, Mac n cheese had zero flavor, coleslaw was terrible…and yellow for some reason.I tried one bite of each , the entire meal had to be pitched.
You get a lot of food for the money so a lot of value. The collards are pretty darn good. I didnt notice a smokey flavor or smoke ring on the brisket but it was good nonetheless. The other pork and sausage were good as well. The spicy sauce did have a little kick to it.The staff, including the owner, I assume, were great and very friendly. It was a comfortable environment and not overly noisy like a lot of places here. Prices are on par with other restaurants in the area. 2 people could share a multiple meat platter of youre not super hungry or are older with a lighter appetite.
Great BBQ sauce, should be bottled and sold to the public. Sliders are the most tender Ive ever had. Congratulations to a great place.
THE Best BBQ Ribs my family and I have ever had, and my brother is a chef. Really good quality meats. Sides could use improvement, but that’s not what you’re here for. Incredibly flavorful and loose ribs. Great job.
Amazing brisket and baby back ribs! The prices are quite fair and everything we ordered was great. We got the combo meals with brisket, baby back ribs, and chicken thighs. Their Mac and cheese were also very tasty. They have great hospitality and service. It was busting. Factual.
We were walking around Tahoe and stopped to look at the menu, they welcomed us inside with positive attitudes and bright smiles, seriously nice people and such a friendly staff. The food was absolutely amazing, you have to try all the barbecue sauce, all the different flavors go so well with the food.
I live in Texas, so of course, I have BBQ around me. However, I could not help but visit this place. The menu looked stellar and it was definitely. The service is great too. I would highly recommend this if you are in the area, any time soon.
Walked across the street from the Marriot to grab a quick bite. We shared brisket loaded fries and they hit the spot.
Stopped in for a late lunch as we came off the slopes. Had a 2 meat combo (chicken and ribs, mac, collards). Some of the best ribs I’ve ever had. All of the homemade sauces were wonderful too. Such a pleasant surprise and great service! Can’t wait to check it out again.
The food was delicious. We ordered a half rack of ribs and the beans were even better the morning after. I ordered a caesar salad with pulled pork. There was enough to have leftovers for breakfast the following day. Two young men were servers in the front and treated everyone with kindness and respect. The thing I was most impressed with was how decent the owner was to his employees. He spoke to each one of them with appreciation and kindness. Great food, nicely priced, and fantastic service.🤌
Nice customer service! The brisket and ribs are smoked well but lack flavor you will need barbeque sauce which they have a nice variety. The sides lacked seasoning (I tried the collards, macaroni and cheese and potato saladif they had just salted them they may have been okay.
Great bbq flavors at reasonable prices for the area. Modestly stocked full liquor bar with a few beers on draft. The chili was really unique with big chunks of bbq meat in a somewhat liqueous base (with beansthat I would classify as almost like a ragout. The BBQ combo was also tasty & generously portioned. I found the overall meal very good, but the brisket was a little too fatty for my liking. The chicken thighs were spot on. They had several bbq sauce options, jalapenos and other condiments that let you customize the flavors. For sides we enjoyed a well prepared portion of collard greens, which were a great authentic veggie option to go along with the irresistible classic mac & cheese. Friendly bartenders and staff, with a cool local vibe.
My favorite part of my meal was the beans. I ordered ribs and brisket with the potatoe twists and the beans they was out of onion rings. The mean was dry, which was very unfortunate but overall experience was good. My bf had the smokehouse burger with brisket he said the burger was good but brisket was dry. Now onto the smoke flavor... it is good at first but then it has a chemical aftertaste is the only way I can describe it. Its just a weird flavor after the smoke. Id give it another try only because the beans was amazing and the potatoes was a nice twist. Definitely tons of food for the price and the choices in bbq sauce was nice.
Best Brisket and pulled pork! Shared the 3 meats plate between the two of us and we had Plenty of food with some to spare!
Would highly recommend getting the loaded twister fries with brisket!! Meat was very tender and sweet bbq sauce was so tasty. Lots of things to choose from on the menu.
Only stopped for drinks, but great happy hour here! Plentiful selection of well drinks and tap beers. Bartender was nice. Indoor and outdoor seating depending on your preference. Short walking distance from Tahoe Resort and Hotel.
Fries were good, corn muffin was fine, brisket was ok, the mac and cheese was bland and cold. Don’t wait around at the door for someone to sit you; not that kinda place. There’s a counter that you order at then another counter that you pick up your food when it’s ready.
Paid $16.95 for a barbecue brisket sandwich that had probably not even a quarter pound of meat on it. Every piece of meat had a big old slab of fat on it. My sons regular fries were okay, my sweet potato fries tasted like they were probably overcooked in the same grease that their chicken wings are cooked in. Sauce was honey based barbecue sauce which tasted terrible. I was born and raised in Texas so I might be a little biased on barbecue but neither of us wanted to even finish our meals and for my 18-year-old son to walk away from food is pretty rare. The place did have cool decor and a clean bathroom so thats why I gave it a three instead of two stars.
The blandest chili I’ve ever had. There was no flavor at all and it was very disappointing. The roasted corn side seemed like it was steamed or microwaved and also had no flavor. The onion rings were okay. They look beautiful but definitely needed some type of seasoning. The sausages were the best part and the brisket was fine. Their bbq sauce is a little bit spicy as well. The service was good, and they would clean and sanitize the tables with every customer. I don’t think I’d go back.
Always great food! I love the brisket and the ribs. 2 sides come with your order as well as a great selection of beers. So get down there and get the best BBQ in Lake Tahoe!
I’m sorry but the food is great but you can look behind the glass when they prepare the food and no one has gloves on. They all handle the food directly with there hands and I witnessed 2 employees going out back and smoking and then return to handling the food without even washing there hands. NOT COOL!!!
Excellent ribs and onion rings but the brisket was disappointingly dry. Fast and friendly service. Huge servings - bring a good appetite.
This place is hands down the Best BBQ joint in South Lake! If your in the area you must give this place a try you wont go wrong the food melts in your mouth with exploding great flavor!
We were so hungry after full day skiing, wanted to pick a BBQ place, and got this one! Very cozy place. It’s an order first then sit. Look at the full rack rib I got, it’s very very big, I can only finish half, it tastes good overall I really like the smoke it got on although I wish it would be less sweet. Sides with sidewinder fries and Mac cheese were also nice. Staff were super friendly and welcoming! I would say that this place won’t be your top rating BBQ/rib restaurant you have ever gone to, but it’s an excellent BBQ destination for relax and energy in Tahoe after an exhausting day of sports!
The menu items were simple enough. We had reservations for about 15 and they accommodate us for that. Ordering was fine but the food wasnt great. I had the smoked wings and side salad. It came with 10 wings for 12.95. Not bad. They were over cooked... Dry. Tasteless and I could barely taste the smoke flavor. The side salad was good and fresh. Cost 5.95. BBQ brisket was tender ,so not bad but lacked seasoning. Id say if you order anything get the salads. Burger were Dry and not edible. Everyone at the table with burgers didnt even eat more than half. I was able to eat my wings. Didnt enjoy them. We were with the Cantu and Gonzales partyPros: outdoor seating with view and fire pits. Flight of beers 7.00 to try 4 different flavors.
So to get good food at Tahoe for reasonable price is not so easy and we really tried. We got here with high expectations, it is the kind of food that we love, what coukd be not great with smoke chops? So the place is look line a dinner, you place your order at the entrance and get a beeper, which will beep when your order is ready. The chops look great but they was dry and over cooked, the chicken wings was also dry. The aide dish, greeans and collslow was quite good.
3rd time here. As always the meat is perfect and the sauces is on point. The only thing I do not like are the sides. The mac and cheese is good but when its busy it taste a little off and a little plain. I hate the collar greens and potato salad. The chilies are really tasty. Beans are ok but I didnt really eat much of it.I was here mainly for the meats lol.
One of the Best place for BBQ. We ordered the 4 items combo...Brisket, pull pork, ribs, and chicken with 2 sides: Vinegar Cole Slaw, Macaroni & cheese. All were well made and were very delicious.
We had ribs here. They were just fine. The onion rings were good but could have been better. Good hot food in cold weather. People were nice.
We stopped in for lunch after finding the California burger company (across the streethad a 45 min wait for seating. There was no wait here.....the food wasn’t bad, but not great either. The bartender who took the order was friendly, but there was no “service” here as we had to get our own drinks, table service and food when #called. Not worth the money, wish we had waited for the seat at California Birger Company.....
Kind of expected to be served like a restaurant but this place is order at the counter and they call you when its ready and you seat yourself. Not what i expected but Im definitely coming back, great food and lots of it for the price.
EDIT 12/18/18:Will leave old review up but as of today it has made changes and not for the better. NO MORE WAIT STAFF. Now you order at the bar and pick up your food at the kitchen. No more condiments at the table either. If you order a soda it is one and no refills.Obbiously cutting costs. Food still is good. A bit slow coming out though and there is not many people here.OLD REVIEW:Great smoked plates. Did a combo plate and dry rub wings. Ribs peeled off the bone. Wings were a nice smokey dry rub. 3 sauces. I liked rhe El Dorado Gold. A 2 item combo plate will do you good.Happy hour 3-6 every day it looks like.
Cool decor, good food, friendly staff, an enjoyable experience. We had smoked cheeseburgers and the kiddo had mac and cheese with hot links on top. The burgers were juicy and had just enough smoke flavor. The side of collard greens wasnt my favorite but I wanted to give them a try. No negative marks against them because they had bacon in them and everything with basin is generally good, I just very much preferred the burger. 👍
This place was the bomb! Very southern atmosphere. The service was great and the food amazing. The Mac & Cheese bowls were great (not too cheesy but still creamy), and the ribs were fantastic (full rack, baby!). Will definitely go there again next time Im in South Lake Tahoe. They also have a pretty good selection of beer.
Everything is smoked! The cheesy grits were gone so I couldnt try those so they must be popular. Ordered brisket and chicken Mac n cheese which was really great. Not dry considering all the smokiness. Good beer selection and full bar.
