Both times I came to this hospital, I was seen, heard, respected, and treated all in the course of 2 hours. I have never been to any other hospital capable of administering that much, nor that kind of care in such a short amount of time. Albany memorial campus hospital is my go-to when I need to be seen by medical professionals immediately. I feel amazing about my experience going to this hospital because for the first time in a long time my illness was not laying upon my shoulders with judgment.

Staff is half rude half okay but not great. Felt worse afterwards than I did when I came in. The doctor was good. Better off googling home remedies for your ailments.

If you like being stigmatized and verbally abused by your care providers while they ignore the symptoms you came in with, this is the place for you. I have never been so disgusted and appalled within a healthcare setting.Oh, and don’t bother trying to bring it up to the ER charge nurse, she won’t even speak to you until she gets the doctor’s side and then disregards your complaint and refuses to give the name of the doctor.Go to Albany Med or your local urgent care instead.

On one of the worst nights of our lives, the RN Jennifer made things much more bearable. She was thoughtful, honest, and through and made us laugh through our tears. Thank you so much for everything you do.

Dreadful ultrasound experience. I was allowed in the waiting room but couldnt attend the ultrasound with my girlfriend. She was told to have a full bladder the night prior by the hospital, then told in person that wasnt necessary. Her tech rushed the appointment, and produced imaging so bad we have to waste our time getting another. Have attempted to reach out to the higher ups and have not heard back in over a week. Highly recommend if you are getting an ultrasound to see your baby avoid at all costs.

Went here around 10pm with bad tooth pain, had a dentist appt the next day but the pain was too much to handle. I waited maybe an hour which is expected at any e.r, lets be honest. They gave me a dental block and some numbing sticks. Everyone there was really pleasant.

Albany Memorial has been my chosen hospital for many years. My primary physicians have always been affiliated with the hospital and I have been inpatient and ER patient with very good and professional care.

Brought my wife into ER at 11:15 PM on a Sunday night doubled over in pain, nauseous and barely standing. Had to check in (of courseand then directed to waiting room, needing my assistance to walk. Soon brought back to ER treatment room where little attention was paid to her acute pain. When ER personnel were questioned twice regarding getting someone to help with such pain, we were told that there were six patients and she would have to wait. After asking when we would see the doctor, rarely saw anyone again until the doctor arrived. Saw other patients nearby on the unit who were on their phones and not in severe pain. At 1:30 AM finally saw a doctor who ordered a CAT scan and blood work. Scan showed acute appendicitis and other related issues and told she would be sent to St. Peters for treatment. She required emergency surgery, as the appendix was in danger of bursting. Waiting over 2 hours in such pain with what seemed to be little regard for such acute pain was negligent at best. Last time we will ever see the inside of that facility.

Worst hospital in the Capital district long waiting for empty ER department. Waited over 3 hours with small children and not a single staff came in to update on how long the was. No doctor at all came into even look at my child for 3 hours then when I decided to leave that’s when the staff seem to be concerned about my child’s foot. Only then was it a problem that I was taking my child else where did the staff seem to have one ounce of care when we sat there for over 3-4 hours with out Even being seen….Trash the whole department

I appreciate all the well-trained, humorous, and respectful nurses and doctors at Memorial, unlike the other (which I shall not name). Add to that, how hastily (at least for a hospitalthey got me through triage, then a bed, and fulfilled my treatment is something rarely experienced. Good job Memorial! Thank you for service and care.

This place is really messed up. I asked the lady at the patient register where do I go for the ob gyn. At first the lady taking the temperature 🌡didnt know if they had such a dept. and when I got to the patient register glass I ask the same question and she too was unaware so I began to think well maybe the gyn was located in the Troy facility. I then asked for the address to Samaritan hospital in Troy. The response I got was unbelievable she told me I dont know the address, so I asked if she cant look it up on the computer which is right in front of her. She the asked me what I believe is so rude if I dont have a Iphone. I couldnt believe it, I told her very ruck if I didnt I wouldnt ask you. The last at the temperature desk then reverts her attention to us n says we are only trying to help 😡 now I dont Call this help I call this poor customer service 😢 what would you call it?

I had Such a pleasant experience here. Granted it wasn’t a crowded day, but I was seen immediately and got an X-ray, urine test, and iv all within a few hours. The doctor and nurses were so lovely and I would never go to a different hospital in Albany again.

I was sent to the ER via Urgent Care for tenderness where my appendix was. I went to Albany Memorial ER to get a CAT scan along with some other tests before being transported to Samaritan for surgery (wrote a review for them, too). Similar to Samaritan, every staff member at Albany Memorial was more than accommodating to me - very kind and supportive, apologetic for any discomfort tests have and for how boring it is to wait for results. They really set my mind at ease while I wrapped my head around needing surgery for the first time. The Ambulance staff were also really nice and fun to talk to on the way to Samaritan. I dont remember everyones names unfortunately, but I do remember Mo and Jessamyn (sorry if I spelled that wrong!and Haley were all perfect gems to me. Thank you to everyone who helped me get well! I would not hesitate to come back if I had to.

On the night of 12/26/2020 I checked into this hospital because of an alarming Emergency. I was seen by RNs, a Physician, EKG, X ray, etc and they were so sweet and accommodating! I greatly appreciate the fact that we live in a nation where we have access to hospitals and learned professionals who actually care about your health. In many nations, people only get into Medicine for the applause/accolades, and it shows in the horrible Healthcare system. Yes Americas healthcare system does need a lot of reform but its a blessing to be seen by Professionals taking your bloodwork, X ray, vitals, etc. I thank them all. Although I will say Phlebotomy should of been up to take bloodwork because the Nurses had alot of trouble and I am still in a bit of pain/discomfort with my forearm. The other reviewers were right, you can hear staff taking loudly in the halls about other patients and how hard something is. I see it this way, I have relatives in the Healthcare field and I also talk to them about this. Treat patients as if they are your family . The way life works, it could be you or your family in the ER with unprofessional staff. Just treat ppl like family and make sure you dont leave a door open for karma to snatch you by your edges. My negative review is not for the Nurses,Physicians,EKG, Respiratory, X ray..these ppl have been lovely. My negative is for the front desk folks who have been tasked with communicating the message to the back. I had to check in by a scraggly haired catty "Tales from the crypt" looking blonde at reception. She didnt take her job seriously which is insulting to the patients! I realized a while later she didnt communicate a vital symptom of mine during check in! Thankful one of the lovely staff caught on to it! How could she though? she was spending her time cackling behind the screen. I dont know who they were mocking or making fun of behind that screen but they need to take a look in the mirror! I was watching as she was gossiping next to her male coworker. She was acting like a catty school girl. GROW UP! I worked in an image based industry, so I know about cattiness. I have never in my life been catty to any human being! this shows a level of inadequacy, insecurity and just plain no home training! you are putting the lives of patients at risk! people are not disposable! Im glad your only entertainment for the day is gossiping to and with your male coworker who wasnt paying you any mind but its pathetic. One bad apple spoils the bunch for sure! the reception is important because its the first line of human contact patients have when they walk in. I am a firm believer in God and his wrath on ppl who do others dirty. Someone who goes out their way to sit and gossip is already a defeated miserable failure but to do it at work?? at an ER unit??? the unmitigated gall! The nerve of such an unfortunate looking woman to have a job during this economy to sit and act like a plum fool. I have worked in administration and many ppl can also speak on the cattiness that goes around in the front desk area. I dont blame any of these reviewers who went off on the front desk staff! I cant imagine having to rush a 4 yr old baby in y hands to the ER just to have some crypt keeper in the face looking Karen act like she has no sense and home training. The rest of the front desk were busy talking to each other and ignore patients standing. Where do these get these people from? are they just hiring anyone? I have always went out of my way to help others and not be a burden for people. Even as a patient, I tried to be helpful to staff and not be an annoying whiny patient. Even with all of this, the front desk still treat you like you dont belong in their territory. I wouldnt suggest this place truthfully.

Awful staff, i went in due to abdominal pains and vomiting and was told that the pain and vomiting were caused by marijuana. While waiting to get blood work, i started vomiting and panicking and pressed the “call nurse” button only to hear the nurse in call in the hallway, expressing how upset she is because patients are calling for her. When she finally came in the room, she said she was going to bring some iteams and never returned. After blaming it on marijuana they diagnosed me with a stomach virus (gastroenteritis)but my fiancé didn’t catch it and we live together. When my fiancé called to make sure that was correct, he was met with attitude from the lady’s who directs your call then the ER nurse, leaked information she claimed she couldn’t talk about. Then told him that my pain and nausea was due to marijuana.Nurse: JAPhysician: Arlene RSadly i don’t know the names of the rest of the staff who was less then useful

Dr Smith and his staff were kind, gentle and thorough with me when I landed in the ER scared and in horrible pain. I had been to my Doctor the previous day and thought I could relax that all was fine. I was brought into a room within fifteen minutes of walking in, saw a Doctor within fifteen more and they had my CT done expeditiously and with care. 45 minutes later we had a diagnosis, my super high blood pressure (from four days of abdominal painwas down and I have IV antibiotics in me to treat my abdominal infection that could have killed me. I was so scared with CoVid walking in there but I wish I could have hugged them all as I left. I think this is the second time they saved my life. I can’t thank you all enough. AnneB

I went to the ER for a laceration on my middle finger. It was bleeding quite a bit. The staff last night were accommodating and attentive to my pain. The nurses listened well during my stitching process and did their best to lessen my pain. This is my second time there in the past few years, and both experiences were very positive.

I recently had surgery and again received wonderful treatment. The admitting people were friendly, Lois the receptionist was very helpful. Richard took good care of me when I arrived. Pre op people were attentive and courteous. My anesthesiologist was very informative and understanding. All my nurses Sarah, Kathleen and Maria were wonderful and accommodating. I was impressed with the support group they were very kind. And of course my doctor , aces in my book. I didn’t want to be their but while I was I was treated exceptionally! Thanks to all. Everytime I come to this facility to see Dr. Sloath the wait is extremely long. The last time was 3 hours this time I am currently still waiting and its been 2 hours. No one checks in to follow up or update us on how much longer. This is an extremely stressful visit every time. I plan on getting a new wound care referral. If you care about your time this is not the place to go.

Sitting in the ER now with my granddaughter. Let me begin with I have had great experiences with this hospital. Today however, my granddaughter has just been diagnosed with pneumonia. Her treatment has been good. Having been here for 2 + hours I have been treated to an obnoxiously loud Dr sitting at the desk just outside our room. So much for patient privacy. This guys had treated us to the gory details of all of the patients in his care while Ive been here. I lost it when he started talking about a 24 year old who had pneumonia so bad that she probably had necrosis is had it. I think the person who he was talking to and looked at me when I whipped open the curtain got the clue. It too a few minutes, but he stopped.

My daughter had surgery and all the staff were great. The gentleman who brought us to room was very personable and funny. The only complaint I have is the cleanliness of the facility from the or prep room to the waiting area . The floors were dirty and the pt room curtains were stained . This made me feel a little uncomfortable. A patient who is going in for surgery should be in a clean environment.

I was nervous having my daughter go to a hospital I was not familiar with. The nurses and staff were amazing. Very attentive always smiling. I was in a different leading hospital nearby few months ago and I hated it the staff was awful. Albany Memorial was prompt their system of using the beepers to alert you when going in surgery and out of surgery to beep you to talk to the doctors was awesome!! Highly recommend!!

Dont Go There!!! If I could put a negative Star rating I would. I took my son to the Memorial hospital emergency room because he cut himself with a knife while cooking. There was one person sitting in the waiting room, so I assumed we wouldnt be waiting long. 1 hour later no triage and they took three other people to be triaged before my son. I left because I was worried about my sons hand. Thank God urgent care was open. He got seen right away and needed stitches. Not a helpful staff and a badly run emergency room. I wont be returning there and am advising the rest of my family not to go there either. I would rather wait all day in Albany Medical Centers emergency room!!!

Right now I’m sitting in room 10 in Er with my daughter whom is the patient. She fell and passed out after at mini golf today. There was a hole in between the side walk and path she was walking on. We aren’t from here. I’m a trauma nurse and critical care registered nurse. Registration was rude the first one coming in after being seen by triage and demanding information. I mentioned my child did not see a physician yet. She became defensive and said she didn’t need to an X-ray of my child’s ankle was about to happen. She continued to be rude, which of course made me defensive. Next thing you know she left as radiology tech came in and took my child stating they would be right back meaning “no you cannot go with her” I waited and she came back in a timely manner and as soon as she was wheeled in the room another registration person (nicer this timecame in. I gave all my info I could and I waited a bit and as the registration lady finished the doctor whom is also nice came in and stated the plan of care, then the nurse. She still is not splinted she still has no results yet and even though it takes 90 minutes per unwritten white board (not a big dealfor results I know a “wet read can tell me what’s going on” at least splint the swollen and painful ankle

My daughter was brought to the ER after experiencing abdominal pain and nausea for >48 hours. She had no p.o. Intake in that time and all attempts were met with her immediately vomiting. We arrived close to 5am and she was seen very quickly initially. She was given a ns iv and a Maslow and lidocaine drink (she immediately vomited). When I asked the nurse for assistance she said she would be in. Ten minutes later she came in and gave my daughter iv Ativan for her anxiety. She never assessed her after that. She did not acknowledge the emesis. She let the iv run dry and my request to speak with the doctor was totally ignored. Once the next shift came in she was given medication for her pain and an antiemetic. The nurse and doctor were awesome and actually interacted with my daughter and what she was experiencing. Unfortunately my daughter’s symptoms worsened and she ended up returning via ambulance. The intake nurse explained that they were having an issue and the oncoming nurse would complete her assessment. After waiting over an hour I rang the call light and asked for assistance. The gentleman that responded was RUDE and immediately informed me that he couldn’t do anything until the doctor saw her. I asked for a nurse to complete her assessment so she could be treated. The nurse that she had the night before came in...and my daughter had specifically asked NOT to have because of the lack of care she provided. My daughter left the ER after we were told...an hour for an assessment is reasonable...you were already seen by a doctor so you aren’t a priority...coming by ambulance isn’t a priority. These comments and many more came from a registered nurse and her charge nurse. There were many other events...the end results we had to drive over 45 minutes for my daughter to receive appropriate care. I am DISGUSTED by the treatment she received and am DISGUSTED that two registered nurses felt that 9/10 pain did not require any attention. I will call NYSDOH on Monday and file a formal complaint

Staff genuinely could care less. It is very apparent the staff hates every minute of every day spent there. My daughter was in pain after breaking her collar bone. I asked after 1.5 hours of waiting if she could be seen or at least some medication. It was not busy. No ambulance.. sitting at the nurse station was much more important than giving care. It is so disheartening... sad actually. How can people live with themselves?

I felt a pop and burning sensation on the right side of my head and didnt feel right. And it came on suddenly.I went to this hospital because I had a good experience before, but will never go there again.I got there and could barely hold my head up. After being in pain and no one else in the waiting room for over an hour, I went up and asked if I would be seen. The receptionist said I would be seen when they could because it wasnt an emergency.Someone came in with a cut that didnt even need stitches and was in and out before I was even triaged.I finally left and for what wasnt an emergency I had to see a specialist, so I am glad that receptionists can tell people they arent an emergency.Never again

Never have I taken the time to write either a positive or negative review for a doctor or hospital, but feel this one worth the time! A situation with my 80-year-old mother was handled with kindness, care, patience, tenderness as well as a great deal of knowledge. From beginning to end, and I do mean end, with the valet offering to fold up her wheelchair for me and place it in the back of my car! Well done, Albany Memorial! Among the long list of doctors I have been to with my mother over the years, you shine! A+ indeed!

Awful service, and the wait time is EXTREMELY long. My girlfriend sat in the waiting room for 3 hours in pain only to be moved into a room and wait for another ridiculous amount of time WITHOUT SEEING A NURSE OR DOCTOR. Nurses AND doctors repeatedly walked passed our room and it was very upsetting to see staff hanging out eating snacks at the desk while my girlfriend got no care whatsoever. I’m upset this is the closest hospital in the area because it’s the worst.

This place is not big on sharing information with the patient. My wife and I waited over 1.5 hours to have the doctor visit her in the ER after she had already been told by the RN that she had pneumonia. They gave my wife IV antibiotics and we were told that the doctor would be by in a few minutes. 90+ minutes later some guy from nuclear medicine comes by and says that they are taking my wife for a study of her gallbladder bladder. To this point, nobody had mentioned anything about her gall bladder. They said that she would be gone for about an hour... that was well over an hour ago. Nobody has come to tell me what is going on... oh yeah, and now it has been more than 3 hours since we were told that the doctor would be by in a few minutes. Never again!

You get into the ER quickly, which is the only positive thing about our experience. The doctor was dismissive and didnt listen, and completely misdiagnosed the problem. Its worth the wait to go elsewhere.UPDATE: The hospital commented below and asked me to call patient relations. I called last week and was told that someone would call back. It has been five days and I have yet to hear from anyone. For that Im removing a star.

I was in town and saw this ER had some good reviews and decided to go there. It was a horrible experience. I went for a migraine with vomiting. Had to wait in the room multiple times for extended periods for nursing to complete orders by the provider. Not to mention, I was told my migraine would not go away and was released. Not sure why I would go to the ER if my intent was not for them to relieve my migraine. Also, I was drugged up from benadryl and should have been held until I had a ride home. But they told me to get dressed and follow the signs out.

Albany Memorial Emergency Room is the best in the area. Ive had great positive experiences there and recently, brought my daughter to them for an emergency situation. I dont know how they keep doing it, but theyre consistently professional, nursing staff is top-notch and wait time is reasonable. My young-adult daughter was treated with dignity and respect by everyone she came in contact with, from the front desk to the attending physician. Her serious condition was immediately and correctly diagnosed and treated. She was admitted and the hospital staff was also so kind and competent from the moment she arrived on the floor. Would recommend this ER over ANY other in the area.

Hopefully I dont need to go to the hospital again anytime soon but if I do Id come back here. Staff was friendly and attentive, Dr Bruce K. was very nice and checked in a few times, which might not seem like a big deal but Ive been to the hospital and only seen a Dr when I was ready to be checked out. I was in and out including an hour of IV fluids, blood work and all that good stuff in about 3 hours...that to me is speedy for an ER visit.

Fortunately I have only had to go here once, but from what I saw I would not take a dying dog to this place. I have never in my life seen such FILTH in a hospital. The walls in the ER room that I was finally put into had aged blood splatters all over and heavily soiled floors. Many, many patients were placed outside of rooms and the staff was horrible. I am not a fan of hospitals, but after seeing this one I had nightmares for a while.

My boyfriend’s grandfather unfortunately passed away this past weekend. This was the only hospital he had ever used so he ended up here. I have to say that the staff there-reception, security, nursing, housekeeping and the attending physicians-were so kind, attentive, and empathetic during the whole process. They were informative, honest, and compassionate. They allowed us to stay with him until he passed and for some time after. They constantly offered to assist for anything we needed and when we were in shock they went above and beyond and offered to call the funeral home and nursing home while we grieved. The doctor held our hands and offered sincere condolences to us. Another doctor, who worked with the family during an earlier stay, came to the room and offered his support. The two nurses were so kind. I was touched by their professionalism and compassion. I will never forget what the team that day did. Thank you so, so much. I cannot tell you enough how much your kindness meant to us.

Gone here a few times with serious asthma conditions. Once I had a blood oxygen level under 90, and all they did was give me a nebulizer treatment. They brought me discharge paperwork for doing nothing and still charged me 2 months later, for doing nothing. I get discharged in the same condition in which I arrived? Barely can breathe? What a great hospital.

Horrible wait time, even though there were not many patients. Was told my nurse "forgot" to send me for x-ray. Waited over 4 hours with no care given, no meds, or IV that doctor ordered. Tried to post feedback and lodge a complaint on their website but of course they have no place to do so. I walked out after 4 hours of waiting, and they can shove their damn bill you know where!

I went to Albany Memorial for ambulatory surgery and was very pleased with the experience from start to finish. The nurses were all wonderful -- friendly, helpful, funny and attentive as was the anesthesiologist and two surgeons. I will absolutely use this hospital again if need arises and will recommend it to friends. The general vibe of this hospital is much more laid back than a bigger hospital and I cant speak highly enough of the great attitude from the staff. That makes or breaks a medical experience like this and Im very grateful for the excellent care.

While waiting for a cardiac work-up in the ER, we heard a husband sent home because his wife would require surgery on her ankle. He left and they put her in a wheelchair in a corner WHERE SHE DIED!!!Another patient needed to be intubated and they failed to anesthetized her. She screamed and cried and fought and DIED.Our nurse did NOT WEAR GLOVES taking out the IV when we decided to bolt out of there. Dirty, disgusting, incompetent, uncaring.Go to a Vet for better care.

ER Staff was less than desirable. The Dr was awful the nurse was horrible also. While being discharged I saw that the medication prescribed was going to the wrong pharmacy and advised the nurse. He assured it would be corrected. As expected he never did. Doctor didnt explain anything.Theres a reason Albany Med has a waiting room full and Memorial is a empty.

The nurses and techs were great but the provider was rude. She stood outside the room chatting about unrelated subjects and ignored the patients. Three different patients asked what is taking so long and each one of us were told we were "next". Over two hours is not fast for a simple xray. Very disappointed
