Horrible. Dont bank here. I have been waiting for my replacement debit card for over 20 days. When I call to check the status ( called 4 xI wait 35 minutes to be told 4 different stories ....the worst one was they were overnighting it to me. Nice fairy tale bc Im still waiting for that. I ask to speak to a manager, no one is available. When they go out of business, it will be bc they deserved it.
Worst bank ever 😭 just avoid if you can. They have VERY outdated systems. Can’t spend more than $1500/day even though it’s a business account. And if you want to spend more you have to call CS which is VERY annoying and always a 45 minutes wait. This bank is more for older people, notice all the good reviews are only from older people 😭 no shade but they are just terrible. They need to revamp and maybe bring in new management because it’s really bad. The banking hours are also very inconvenient.
Im dealing with the sudden death of my father who had an account at NJ Federal Credit Union, and my experience has been AWFUL!! I will say that I did encounter one pleasant worker over the phone, and I wish I could remember her name. The others have been very rude, apathetic, and didnt even bother saying, "Im sorry for your condolences." The branch manager included!!I just need a simple question answered that the branch manager only seems to know how to answer, and I keep getting ignored. This is SO pitiful!! Dealing with grief is enough...I dont need peoples attitudes and uncaring spirits to add to that. I really hope I can get my issue resolved TODAY, and its a shame that I had to result to posting a negative review to hopefully get some attention from someone at this credit union. SMH
In a world where it has become the norm to expect poor customer service particularly from banks, NJFCU has dropped to the bottom of the list. They used to be a stellar organization, having been a member for well over 25 years. I have tried for over a month to access my account online where I am repeatedly told there is an error and I should try again later. When I tried to call, multiple time to resolve this issue, I was met with impossible hold times and no response to call back numbers.DO NOT BANK HERE!
It doesnt matter what day or time you call, youre waiting a minimal of 30 minutes to get someone on the phone. Customer service is non existent. One time I called and I was on hold, I live in Belleville and I drove all the way to Totowa, while on hold. I walked in and it was empty!!! Unbelievable!

So here was my most recent experience at NJFCU. I stopped by the drive thru at the Elmwood Park branch so I could make a simple check deposit because it was raining & I had my 1 year old in the back napping. I could barely read the sign in barley large print indicating the drive thru was closed. I pressed the button to call a teller over just to ask when they would be back up & running since getting a rep on the phone is another nightmare in itself. If you want to waste your time & get aggravated definitely give them a call. Anyway, Latia I believe her name was incredibly nasty & rude by telling me she doesn’t know when the drive thru will be open because they’re short staffed & she’s the only teller. Quiet frankly, I could care less what the situation is, what matters to me is being able to get my banking business done quickly & efficiently without dealing with awful customer service. I’m a reasonable person & patient. I understand it could be incredibly difficult planning for training for a system conversion & making sure you have enough staff to serve the membership, however it all comes down to poor planning & lack of organization. I truly hope the CEO & upper management is also finding time to squeeze in customer service training because it’s desperately needed. I can’t wait to close my accounts & never have to deal with this financial institution. If I could give 0 stars I would. The customer service & everything that has to do with the “Credit Union experience” is horrendous. Since the former CEO has retired it has gone downhill in the worst possible way. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE.
This is a friendly reminder to be aware of the RUDE receptionist at the Totowa Branch! Shes the older looking woman with the BLACK hair. She likes to make presumptions about people. Today, I asked her one question about the new debit cards being mailed to everyone. The flyer indicated that we should be getting one by the end of June. I told her that I didnt receive mine and she said without looking at my accounts on the computer that "I wouldnt receive one because its for Savings." She made the assumption that I didnt have a SAVINGS ACCOUNT. She said if I have a chip on my debit card than Im okay. I said okay and walked away. After getting in my car, I said to myself, I have a savings account. Why did she ASSUME that I didnt have a savings account? Is it because of my RACE or my outfit??!! COME ON!! Really. I just cant believe Customer Service nowadays. Its just horrible! Lets stop being prejudiced.Does it really hurt to be polite and professional!! I do believe when I became a member of the Credit Union, I had to open a checking and savings account. So, why was this woman rude to me?
NJ credit union is got worst. I call to complain about not receiving my statement. The reps Cassandra is the worst. I will be closing out my accounts there. This not the first time I had probably with this bank. Last year I did stop payment on a check. Which they never stop payment. Took 2000 out of my account. Yes no bank is good. But I sure my other credit account do not make this many errors
If you have literally any other banking options you should take them. I would consider an uncouth gentleman living under a bridge to manage my finances than dealing with this bank.My mother has tried for 3 weeks to get this credit Union to give her a check to roll over her iras to Charles scwab. Desiree wasn’t helpful at all and gives the most vague responses (call this number tell them your story), I’ll have an ira expert follow up… she then calls back in a week saying maybe the branch manager will reach out because my mother wants to close all of her cds as well.You had 1 job write a check in custody of <former customer> with the account number in the memo.A complete nightmare for a process that at any other competent bank would take 5-30 minutes it’s taken 3+ weeks and 8 phone calls and a few emails.Here’s another one for you. I made the mistake of using this bank to finance a vehicle (I was young and didn’t know better and assumed my local credit union wouldn’t be a terrible choice). Paid off my new car in 3 years as per my 36 month loan, and it I had to follow up multiple times to get the title that took multiple weeks. Any other big branch bank especially the online ones it’s way easier to do all of this stuff online. The amount of times I had to wait in line for something penfed Charles scwab or chase can do in 30 seconds online I can’t even count.Seriously avoid this place like the plague, it’s a shame the teachers Union pushes this place because it sets so many people up for awful customer service.One more thing for their retirement products you are literally paying 5-10x the fees from alternative products from vanguard and scwab And often getting worse investment performance. I can’t think of any reason to use this credit Union. And their maintenance fees are relentless literally 3 times the cost of any of their national competitors.
Stay away from this bank. Applied for a credit card, no answer, no letter. no nothing. Closed my account. Tried to re-open an account online again, nothing again. Emailed them several times, no response. Tried calling them a few times, no one answers the phones.

I have been with NJFCU for over 20 years and while I have had some inconveniences, Im pretty happy with the services. No bank is perfect but some of my experiences here has come pretty close even after a missed call or two. Ive experienced the customer service with 3 locations and the service has been polite and respectful, I can appreciate the improvements in customer service over the years and I look forward to the coming upgrades.
Ive been a member for about 20years. The staff is friendly and helpful, the member benefits are very good and there are none of the insane fees that other institutions charge. Yes, the lines are long sometimes. For me, that is a small price to pay.

Warning! Do not bank here! I have never seen a more incompetent banking system. In stead of guiding their customers in good faith through what would normally be easily fixable filing mistakes they accuse customers of ‘falsifying documents.’ Very scary, and completely unnecessary. Stay away if you don’t want to be accused of doing something with your own bank account.
THIS PLACE ADVERTISES FALSELYI called to inquire about a loan utilizing an ITIN number. I left various messages and nobody answered the phone. I called back a week later and was answered with an attitude. When I inquired about the advertisement below stating about a 5% down payment, I was turned down instantly and told that there was no such thing. The only down payment available was 20%. Dont waste your time with this place, use ACC Mortgage instead. Their down payment is 15% and their staff is much nicer.
After being a member of this bank for years overall, its not great this not available 24/7. They cant protect you against online suspicious activity. Getting loans from them is hard along with a credit card. They dont have student loans and they dont protect you from overdraft fees. They app is slow and you can protect your card. Its just better to go somewhere else honestly.

Since I moved to Florida making a payment has been a challenge for my car loan so everytime I call to make almost three payments they still charge 25 dollars for the on phone payment and started charging a principal which I just heard about so while Im doing 1k dollar payments in a pandemic for at least 3 months my balance has not been affected its been 6k for the last 3 months since I started making these 1k dollar payments shame on you robbing your loyal customers is bad business habits will never recomend again

This credit union has terrible service. They cant return phone calls I guess its part of their culture. I left over 5 nessages & never received a phone call. In addition they charge $20 to make a payment by phone & another $20 to replace your debit & credit card. I dont recommend this credit union to nobody.
This bank is a freaking joke. It takes 10 calls to get basic banking functions accomplished with them. Do NOT waste your time giving them any of your business.
Horrible experience with Managers! I believe that they all need cross training to take care of customers. I waited for 2 hours to see a manager and finally left.
They wrote down my number Wrong on purpose so they don’t return a 35 dollar fee place on my account .Also is the only bank that I know that request letters from employers to help you even know COVID 19 is something that hit all of us. They don’t care if you passing thru a financial situation they would not help.
I appreciate the credit union for their differences that my other bank cant offer or compete with so I use both for different things. I recently went through the auto loan process and from start to finish the service was just not great. The initial representative (Tanya )who took my paperwork and started the Application was rushed, and dismissive, and did not bother to ask any questions just took all our info and said they will be in touch. We were then sent to deal with (Fredvia email who was efficient and let us know we were approved for what we asked for. (This is after some back and forth providing additional documentation and ensuring everything was squeaky clear on our creditwe then went to grab the car and asked the details of the loan which were NOTHING that we wanted ( higher than mentioned apr, more money down, and extremely high paymentsso after all the back and forth the dealer gave us a amazing deal that far beat the credit union... Im glad we did the process cause they were instrumental in ensuring our credit was amazing but in the end was not worth the subpar service and headache.FYI I had been a customer for years prior to this process...
Very disappointed in this branch. I have lost faith for local credit unions because of this branch. I am not a direct member of the North Jersey Federal Credit Union, however my credit union is considered a shared branch therefore acts as I am a member. Today I was turned down for an essential banking transaction because I needed a letter of approval from my credit union. I called my credit union and they stated there is no such thing because they are shared branches. They have access to my account. When I supplied that information to them all I received was a shrug. Now I am leaving closing all of my credit union accounts and going back to an actual bank.

Worst customer service ever. I applied for a loan and was told it was pre approved, waited for someone to get back to me to confirm. No one ever contacted me every time I called to get an update I was transferred to a number were no one ever answered the phone. I was in contact with a representative who emailed me once to tell me it was pre approved and would get back to me, which he never did. I ended up stopping by the Newark branch to get an update and when he approached me he never greeted me with a hello nor good morning. All he informed me with was he didnt have an answer and couldnt reach anyone to get an answer.I ended up calling back and again was transferred to a number were no one picked up. A few minutes later I got a phone call saying my loan was denied.Right after that I received another phone call from another representative saying that my loan was denied and that i was on the phone going crazy, so basically my loan was denied because I inquired about it to many times after a week of no response from any one at the bank.If i could give a half star I would
This bank is one of the worst!. They never return your calls. I dont know why they ever provide the costumer with their business card, when they wont even pick up the phone! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR: DON;T WASTE YOUR TIME GOING TO THIS BANK!

Service is slow, Long lines, and extremely outdated. Hours are inconvenient, interest rates are high for lending, and one of the lowest rates on CDs in the area. Why would anyone want to be part of this credit union! THERES NO BENEFITS!This is the worst financial institution experience I have ever had. Bar none. For 2 weeks Ive been trying to reach someone to get a copy of a document that I needed to close on my house. 2 WEEKS! I CALLED, I STOPPED BY, AND I EMAILED THEM! Apparently only one guy in the entire company of over 100 people is able to get that document. I left numerous messages during the week. He has never answered his phone. An operator said she would email him and his boss, and I still havent heard from them. 2 WEEKS OF PHONE CALLS AND REQUESTS TOTALLY IGNORED.I was a member for almost a year, closed my account, and signed up with CHASE and got a HEFTY bonus for signing up!
I have been a member for 5 years. I have not had a problem until the beginning of this month. My debit card was hacked, Yes I know that happens. It was my old debit card that should have been cancelled after the new chip card was activated. I took the following steps,:Went directly to the credit union in Totowa filled out paperwork.Police Department filed a police report. The credit union told me 7-10 Business days. That should have started on Nov.5th cant count Veterans day. So on the 12th day still no refund. I was also charged with an insufficient funds fee of 35 dollars. I am waiting for the manager to call me back I hope to resolve this problem ASAP.
Everyone is always friendly and helpful as soon as you walk through the door.
Update 10/26/18 - Added a star. This neg review got no ones attention. So I emailed them from their website. I immediately got a call from a senior officer of the company. She was most apologetic and helpful. I got what I needed right away. BUT . . . for it to get to the point of threatening to call the AG and Consumer Affairs. I dunno. Id maybe go up to three stars, but looking at the other reviews on their GMB, maybe not. In any case, thanks to the management I got what I needed.This is the worst financial institution experience I have ever had. Bar none. Any bank. Any city. Anywhere Ive ever lived. I want to thank Mary Perez ( Consumer processorand Nancy Cintron (Member service representativefor all their professional help in terms of opening an account and getting a loan in such a ease. Mary was very helpful since the day I spoke to her on call. She was very professional and explained everything in details, which made it very easy for me to be a part of NJFCU.I would recommend my friends to this facility for sure.

I’ve been a member for over five years with this bank. And I am by far displeased with the services that I have been receiving lately. I applied for a credit card literally almost a month ago, got approved and never received my card. And every time I inquire on what’s taking the card so long to come I get the runaround and told it will be 7-10 business days until I get the card. Very terrible service.
Ive been a member for 30 years. I have watched this credit union grow and I am so happy with all the fantastic services available. Much more than a regular bank. The customer associates are very pleasant and eager to help its almost like a bank robbery. LOL😀. Seriously though, the online systems are updated more frequently than many other big banks. I feel safe and confident banking with North Jersey Federal Credit union more than other big banks who only know you by a number, whereas this credit union always uses my name to answer any questions I have about service. Why go anywhere else and get less interest and unprofessional handling of any problems. I stay with personally identifiable associates to manage my funds.Thank you so much for all your professional hard work and know how to get the Job done without any problems.

NJFCU is top notch customer service and member centric management style. They are always focus in "people helping people", their motto. I took an auto loan and had an answer with a closing date within 30 minutes. Who does that? If you go to CHASE or Wells Fargo they take forever, Im still waiting to hear back. Now, Im driving a brand new car thanks to NJFCU. They rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They really improved the website in the past 2 years. The customer service via phone is very good. Be sure to check for unnecessary overdraft fees. It is worth the inconvenience of few locations to not have to deal with big banks that support and fund policies that increase global warming.
The worst customer service ever at this particular branch.. They treat you horribly and disrespectfully and give you a hard time over the most basic of transactions. They refuse to provide basic, standard banking services like depositing checks without giving any explanation especially if you are using shared branching. Ive never had such a negative experience on multiple occasions in any other credit union Ive belonged to or visited. They treat you like they are doing you a favor by serving you when you bring them your business. Take your money elsewhere.

The worst online banking ever! I have to change my password and "ID" to sign in everytime i log in...There are too many steps to get to this online banking. Seriously, it needs to be simple and fast like a NORMAL online bank account just put in your Email and password!
So annoyed right now, I opened my account this morning only to get home to check my account and my member number is invalid. There is no costumer service after business hours, therefore I can not contact anyone to help me in this matter. I never did business with a bank that does not have a 24hr service to assist a person with their money that is being held by their institution. I just want to take my money out and never deal with them again.
Excellent customer service from the door to the tellers! Friendly and professional. Everyone that I encountered with was nice. Great place to bank!
