I go here often for haircuts, the same with my mom and I sometimes take my boyfriend,I love ther service and the owner is such a sweetheart. I dont like going anywhere else but there and great, reasonable prices for hair care, a haircut is only 10$. I cant wait to go back.

Ive taken my family here before and had a great experience, however yesterday was completely different and will be our last time using this salon. I called in the morning to ask if they had any appointments that evening after 5, for my boyfriend and son to get haircuts. The woman I spoke to was hesitant and told me that they were booking about a week out, but said she would check their appointments for the evening (in case there were any cancellations). She then said that she would put them in for 5:30, but told me for future reference I would need to book at least a week ahead of time. I was very grateful for her to schedule us in so last minute.When we arrived, my boyfriend and son both went to rooms for their haircuts. My son is 6 with ADHD, so hes very fidgety. The woman who was cutting his hair had absolutely no time for children. She was very snippy with him everytime he would slightly move. Its not like he was bouncing off the walls! Ive taken him to plenty of salons for haircuts, and usually stylists are great with children and understand that sometimes they move. This woman just wanted us in and out, and it showed.Meanwhile, my boyfriend was in another room getting his hair cut. His cut was terrible and butchered. He always keeps the top longer, with a fade up. The longer hair at the top was all different lengths and looked like a child took scissors and just chopped away at his hair. While in there, the girl cutting his hair had told him that we were their last appointments for the day.Im guessing the reason for the impatience with my son, and the butchered haircut for my boyfriend is that we were the last for the day and these women just wanted us out. I was under the impression that they were open until 7 and because the woman on the phone scheduled us for 5:30 I had no idea that we were holding them up from going home for the day. I would have gladly scheduled for another day, had she told me no for a same day appointment.Like I previously stated, weve been here before and had great experiences. There is a woman who is currently on maternity leave, and she is a fantastic stylist. Unfortunately, she seems the be the only stylist worth seeing in this salon.

I just got my hair dyed by Brooke today! I went from my natural brown to platinum and I love it so much! Everybody is super friendly, especially Brooke and my hair looks amazing!

I use to really like this place but this last time the lady wasnt patient at all with my daughters ages 3 and 7 yrs and also they recently changed their prices and I liked them the other way.

Shear Power is such a great salon with not only a talented and friendly staff, but also offers a fun filled waiting room for kids!! The owner has been cutting my husbands hair for almost a decade!! Our grandsons always tag along for a fresh cut as well!! Theyre very reasonably priced and do unique and beautiful updos for weddings and proms. I know bc they did my hair for my special day and both my daughters hair! STUNNING!! Theyre also a huge staple of downtown Altoona❤

I love getting my hair cut here. Always get what I want and some! And if something happened by mistake, they dont mess around, they get it fixed and fast!! This is where I always go now for a hair cut, and where I take my kids! Highly recommended!!

Erin is my new favorite person!!! Besides being very funny and friendly, she was excellent and efficient as a stylist. My hair has always been abnormally thick and difficult, but she worked over 3 hours past the booked appointment to finish, and still charged the same price! When certain solutions were ineffective with my hair, she took extra measures to ensure I was leaving with the hair I wanted. She is also very honest about limitations of hair, and will not try to talk you into unnecessary or unsafe procedures for money. Ive never loved my hair more!

When they first opened I took my daughter for her first haircut ever. Now that she is almost 13 I still trust them with her hair. Recently she donated her long, beautiful black hair for the second time in her life and she was nervous because shes a dancer whos only had trims the past 6 yrs. Although she willingly donated losing two feet of hair was a big deal that they made her feel comfortable about. Her stylist made her love her new shoulder length hair before we left.I think that although its not a super fancy shop there are high quality people working there. They also were willing to work with my busy schedule and let me change her appointment twice. The price was very reasonable too for my budget. Im a single parent with two kids so quality at an affordable price is very important. Tomorrow Im taking her sister for a haircut and I will post those pictures too

Called ahead and asked if staff could do a touch up on my particular kind of hairstyle. Was told yes. Walked in , first impression was not good!! The place is very run down and dirty looking! I was taken into a room to get washed and had to sit about 5 min while the water ran in the sink to get hot. I was about to get up and leave when Michelle came in and I realized I knew her so I thought what the heck Ill stay. Im sorry I did my hair style takes particular steps to make it look the way it is supposed to. None of these were done, I realized when I got home I looked as if a bowl had been placed over my head and hair just cut at will. Ive had to let it grow back out so that now I can go back to ulta where it was originally done and have it fixed. This is what I get for trying to save some $$$$. Word to the wise you get what you pay for here!!!

Used to get my haircut here, which is saying something because my hair is notoriously difficult to cut. I found that Michelle was the talented hairdresser who could handle it. I highly recommend this place for anyone!

Took my 1 year old grandson there for a haircut. You couldnt ask for someone to be more patient with a little boy. The hair cut was so good. We are taking him back again today for 2nd hair cut. The price is the best in Altoona.
