Very disappointing. Our pulled pork sandwich’s were lukewarm and my sons 1/2 slab of ribs was very dry an not edible. They did replace the ribs with some fresh ones but they should never have served them that way to begin with. Absolutely the one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant.
Horrible buns bad pulled pork bad ribs not coming back
Went there before noon on a Saturday. We have had a few decent meals there in the past. Last time we were there it was kind of...Meh. We expected to see improvement this time but were disappointed that the quality has dropped even more. After waiting outside in the drive through to order for 5 minutes we decided to go in. (Drive through speaker has been broken for a year. The only way to drive-through order is to wait until the car at the window has ordered, paid, waited, and received their food.)There was only one table occupied. That should have been a hint. We ordered sandwich combos and extra ribs. There were disappointingly few fries in the order and the meat on the sandwiches were not moist or juicy. If not for sauce to moisten them we would not have finished the dry sandwiches. The ribs were worse. They were overcooked to the point that the bones were crumbling and all the fat and moisture was cooked out. We threw nearly $15 of ribs in the trash! The only good thing was that we were glad we hadn’t ordered a full-slab.This is not the Billy Sims BBQ we are used to and after experiencing disappointments at other stores we were sure that we could, at least go back to Emporia and get good food. Boy, were we wrong! Where is the owner/manager at noon on Saturday?!?! I know thatBilly Sims meat is cooked ahead of time. But I have made enough trips around the Sun that I know you can’t keep re-refrigerating and re-heating meat. These ribs were beyond just leftovers! I felt robbed. I informed the girl on duty and asked her to pass on my concerns. We are probably DONE with the Billy Sims chain. It’s a shame that we seem to be seeing the quality going downhill in all of the stores we have visited. You can’t keep cutting corners on quality or you will eventually drive all of your potential customers away. If you wouldn’t be happy paying for it AND eating it... DON’T SERVE IT!
Decent bbq for a place that doesnt cook any of it at the restaurants.
Food was good and fresh. Service was solid.
always doble check your order they always give you wathever they want instead of what you order.. apart of that not so bad bbq food
They were out of chicken wings, so I ordered a chicken sandwich. The sliced breast meat was very dry. The spicy barbecue sauce was good, but it didn’t help the dryness of the chicken.
Food was good, staff could have been a little friendlier and place could have been a little cleaner.
Went in to have lunch. Ordered a two meat combo and wife got single meat combo, meat was dry and some was overcooked, food was at best warm.. Was charged 2.99 to chop the meat per meal, charged 2.99 for a medium drink, cost for my wife and I was 47.00 plus tax. Restaurant floor has film of oil or grease on it. Employee we delt with was nice. Did not make a touchdown for us.
The food was ok! Very few fries with our orders! Went to use the restroom and it was filthy. Im not sure how long it has been seen the toilet had been cleaned or the the floors cleaned as they were sticky! I went and asked one of the workers if they had cleaned the restrooms recently and the response was "Only when our manager tells us too". I said really and then asked her if she ever uses the restroom and she responded by saying that she does not and then I told her that the restroom needed some serious attention! She just turned and went on working. No gosh...let me go get them cleaned!
Food was fine, but the bathroom was FILTHY. Floors were sticky.
Really good barbecue, I had a Heisman sandwich. It was great! Quick service and friendly workers, definitely a repeat.
First and Last time eating at Billy Sims! Highly processed and preserved type food, not BBQ. BBQ sauces very watered down. Also the meals are very over priced for portions and especially quality. Most of it was honestly pretty gross! The best item was the French fries which is sad when we tried Brisket, Polish Sausage, Pulled Pork, Mac n Cheese & Potato salad. The restaurant was very dirty and the floor was sticky. The college students running it did have good customer service.
The food is delicious and the workers were helpful.
The line that food is prepared on was filthy dirty. Fryer was dirty also. 3 girls working, no customers, one car in the drive thru. Not much excuse for not wiping things off at the very least. Ive eaten there in the past, but not anymore.
When Billy Sims in Emporia first opened, we went there often; usually to the drive-thru window for take out. Food was good, but a bit pricey. About six months ago we again tried the drive-thru but it was down and inoperable. Made the experience a bit awkward. We didnt go back until last night. To our surprise and disgust, the drive-thru speaker was still out of order! Why would it take over six months to repair a speaker? Made the ordering a pain. Did finally order, which took a very long time. I tried the chili. Delicious, and grossly over priced. 8 ounces for $7.95. Doubt we go back.
This place is my top request when I come to town. I love the ribs and dip in Hickory sauce. Plenty of food for a great price. I will keep coming back.
Over priced and super small portions. Surely will not be coming back.
The food is always good and consistent however, the inside is so dirty. Anywhere you sit feels sticky and gross. I won’t even step foot in the bathroom.
Good food. I got three different sliders so I could try the chicken, brisket, and pulled pork.
Good food, a little pricey . really look over the menu before ordering. Some items that are less expensive give you more than the more priced items. Great bbq sauce. All around good family friend ly place
My ribs were burnt. The corn was not completely cooked. The green beans were ok. Overall, I was very disappointed 😞
Usually very good. I went here last week through the drive thru as I usually go in but was tired. Waited at the speaker for five minutes and no one spoke to me as I said hello etc. There was no sign the thing was down and they were helping one car with just me in the lane. I left and went elsewhere.
Disappointed no BBQ sauce given. It was okay I suppose the best part was smoked sausage. We spent $52.
Place had numerous flies. All the BBQ sauce bottles were dirty and crusty. Tables and floor had not been cleaned for a long time. BBQ was good but not plentiful.
Service was not real great, speaker still broken on drive through, been like this for over a year, did not offer any bbq sauce with meal, none included with it either. Overall the food is ok, it is overpriced for the quality.
food was good but we are from Texas so it didnt quite meet our standards but I would stop there again
The pulled pork was decent. The BBQ sauces were good. Everything else was just so so. Nothing really impressive. I guess its alright for its location, but there is much better BBQ out there. Its nice that it has a drive thru.Overall not bad. Just not up to my BBQ standards. Here in Kansas theres a LOT of competition when it comes to BBQ and Billy Sims wouldnt win any prizes. 🤷♂️#NatsJourneys #KCFoodie #CulinaryAdventures #ExploreYourCity #EmporiaKS
Went here today and ordered 3 sandwiches and 3 sides. 30.00! I have never been here before but I can say it wasn’t worth 30.00. The meat didn’t even taste smoked or bbq. For a bbq place I expected the meats to at least taste smoked. Nope! For 30.00 I could have bought a pork roast and made 20 sandwiches for that price. The meat had absolutely no flavor just like if you cook a roast in water that’s it. Also the sauce. Award winning??? It tasted exactly like the bbq sauce McDonald’s has that you get with your nuggets. I’m sorry billy sims but I was not impressed at all. Way way overpriced and the portions were small and it didn’t taste like bbq. Also the sides. Baked beans. I swear it was bushes baked beans. Coleslaw same as kfc and Mac and cheese definitely made from a can. Won’t be going back.
First time here & wont ever return. Got food to go. Was very disappointed!!! Got home & there was no BBQ sauce to go with the food. They barely put any meat on the nachos. May as well have called them bagged chips with a drizzle of sauce and a couple Tablespoons of meat on top. They use margarine instead of butter on the baked potato. Meat really needed some BBQ sauce.
I stopped by my Uncle Billy Sims restaurant to grab some lunch and Derrick and Cassandra(Cassiewere very nice they both greeted me and my Husband when walked in the door and we received our order quick and the food was great as always.
Food was good but damn this place is dirty. EditLook at any of the video. The tables look like theyve never been washed and the floor hasnt been touched for days. Why should I address something you have to know about already?
I’m from out of town and this was not BBQ. Hot links had like chunks of cheese in them? Not really sure never experienced a hot link like that. I love hot links and this did not hit the spot even a little. The 3 variety of tacos were all the same topping lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. Did not like any of tacos. Had the spud with pulled pork that was average not a fan of their pulled pork. All in all, if your from out of town this will not be what regular BBQ taste like. Also the food looks nothing like the photos.
Decent place to stop by for lunch. Wasnt "blown away" with the food, but it was pretty good, fair prices. Fast food atmosphere. Friendly staff.
I’m shook. Legit shook over this BBQ. I’m from Florida so that’s the only BBQ I’ve ever experienced but listen. This will change your life. The rib LITERALLY fell of the bone. I ordered quite a bit of food because no food place is perfect right? I needed plan Bs if I didn’t like something... Yo I cleared my whole plate! Everything was soooooo good. I couldn’t stop eating. Give this place a try for real.
Great place to get good ribs, I also had their wings and they did not disappoint the only problem I had were my eyes were bigger than my stomach. But got a box and took them with me, staff was friendly and helpful they are doing a bang up job over there Ill definitely be back.
I ate at this place as I just returned to Emporia. I took a chance on the ribs the first time. No spice , very bland and have to add the bbq sauce yourself. Bbq sauce is very bleh. The 2nd time I went I ordered potato with a choice of meat. Meat portion is very small and I got home the container had dropped butter all over me . i had asked and reconfirmed for all the available topping but no sour cream, cheese and butter that ruined my shirt... not happy. Customer service is better than Wendy’s but bbq from here is expensive. Oklahomans apparently this close to kc and Texas and have no clue about bbq. 10 thumbs down.
First time eating here was great. Excellent service very friendly staff. I told them it was the first time and they went through the menu telling me everything. The guy, who worked lunch shift on Oct. 15, kept asking how are food was and told us about the catering, which seems pretty good and was super helpful. Loved the portions and the food was great, prices were still good with the bigger portions. Food came out to us suprising fast too. Definitely worth coming back.
The food is enjoyable and nice to have some variety of options beyond the regular meat and sandwiches by adding some taco options. I arrived midday and so my meal was prepared from meat that was kept in the warmer. Not quite the freshness I would have wanted but I was told that the meat is smoked in-house.Service was prompt and friendly. Nice to eat in a non-chain establishment.
The wait was long, seemed like they were either under staffed or under prepared for the amount of business they would get but besides the wait the food was good. The portions were alright and the beans were good, most definitely will be back and will be trying the wings and ribs next time.
The Triple 20 sandwich was really good with provolone and coleslaw. The potato salad was also good. The line moved really fast and the food came out quick. The place is clean and friendly service.
Had the 2 piece dinner sliced Brisket ad pulled pork, Polled pork looked OK, but Brisket seemed old and dry, briskit just crumbled because how old and dry it was. Brisket was sliced then cut down the middle for smaller portion not a big fan about that. Frys where good so was the Mac and cheese. Also bought a Polish assuage slider It was really good. About 20 Dollars and some change. Not really worth while for me if half the food I order is not gonna be good.
Ribs were flavorful, and the hot BBQ sauce was decent. Okra and fries were good, but the portions were lacking. I have had better for less, but overall it is not bad. Will probably eat here again.
I give it as high as a 4 because its pretty good for chain barbeque. Similar to Dickies, serviceable. Ribs are real good, pulled pork is good, and all the sauces are good. I think the sides are the weak point but a few people I know like them.
Very clean restaurant. The food wasnt anything special, but it was delicious. We had the baked potatoes with brisket. Billy Sims reminded me of City BBQ in Indiana. Good food, polite staff, and lots of football.
I think this is an average BBQ joint. It feels like a fast food place. To me its like eating leftovers because it is warmed over. But, its like paying for steak. Id rather have a steak. Their tator salad is good.I have to say, spend your money at Bobby Ds downtown.
Got smoked turkey and brisket. It was ok, think its cooked elsewhere and brought in. No fries but potato salad was really good. Might have rated it higher but this is a tough town for BBQ, gotta be excellent to stand out
I got pulled pork, sliced brisket, coleslaw, corn and a drink. Over priced $17.00+. To start the pulled pork taste like it was cured, cooked and salted in salt. The sliced brisket was very dry and the corn was more of a niblet on the cob. Needless to say the portions are small and over priced. This is my fourth or fifth visit because Ive tried to give them the benefit but this was my last.
A little expensive, expect to spend about $10 - $12 per person. Of course you can get a single "slider" for a lot less, and dinners can be more. A very good value for the money - good sized portions, excellent flavor and quality. We also enjoyed the side side dishes available. Best recommendation I can give is that the next time we are back in Emporia Billy Sims BBQ will definitely be considered as a stop for a meal.
While the food tasted fine, the price for the portion size was outrageous. We ordered a "gameday" meal to go which comes with a rack of ribs and 2 sides and is supposed to feed 3-4 people. First of all, they cut off the big chunk of meat from the end of the rack and the sides were a joke. They were the size of single servings at any other restaurant. Wont be going back. Not worth what I paid.
