Cafe Darya in Snowy Monaro Regional
Privilege
Absolutely delicious! Every dish we ordered was amazing and next time I’m in town I’ll be trying to book to eat in. Ordering takeaway was a bit of an experience, and the person I spoke to was a little brash. But once I rocked up to pick the food up, it made sense. This is a small family run place with only about six tables. But it felt like it had a warm atmosphere that I’d enjoy. Their voicemail will give you an idea if there are any tables available in the coming week, so give them a call.
MoreBest Vegan in Jindabyne hands down.As locals for 7 years, weve tried them all.Amazing service and hospitality. Mind-blowing good. Reasonable price.MUST TRY.
MoreI have tried to get a booking a few times over the years and finally had my first experience this evening. What a lovely little restaurant. Deservedly Jindabynes number 1 place to dine. Everything was beautiful. The service, the flavoursome food. Everything we ordered was lovely. Thoroughly recommend and we will definitely be back. Thank you.
MoreIt was very unexpected to come across a Persian restaurant here.Authenticity and flavour of the food was outstanding.Persian and Italian cuisine presented in a very delicate way was just an amazing experience.
MoreAmazing food. Some of the best Ive had, not just in jindy but compared to Sydney
Delicious meal, delightful ambience, exceptional service. It was truly a privilege to dine at Cafe Darya. By far the best restaurant in Jindabyne.
MoreDelicious food very friendly service
Delicious authentic Persian food. The food is fresh and great quality.
A delightful Persian experience. Like a home cooked meal from mum, but mums Persian
MoreLoves the food. Lots of unique flavours. The beef, chicken and prawns were fantastic. Rose petals tea was also wonderful. As my kids put it: "This is our new preferred restaurant now".
MoreFood was so good it made my friend cry.
Tonight we had a great experience in Cafe Darya as a Persian/Australian family. Reza and his lovely wife made me so proud, as my family really enjoyed the food. Although lm persian and lm familiar with the Iranian foods, lve never experienced such a delicious foods in my life time.
MoreDelicious that says it all. Try the eggplant and beef or camel. You won’t be disappointed
MoreThe food was amazing!! It was seriously tasty. Can highly, and I mean HIGHLY recommend the Sanbosag. The pastry was super light and flakey and the filling was delicious.
MoreAbsolutely delicious. Best food in jindy
A great Persian Cafe with cool decor and an authentic vibe that makes you feel like youve been transported somewhere else. The food was delicious and authentic. I had the Sanbosag, Camel and Pashmak (Persian Fairy Flossand was pleasantry surprised by how delicious everything was.The customer service was also excellent, with the friendly staff managing to fit me in between bookings even though they were already fully booked. I highly recommend Darya Cafe!
MoreThe meal was fantastic great flavours an authentic treat. Loved the Camel and Goat.
MoreWe thoroughly enjoyed eating at this special restaurant! Delicious cuisine. Highly recommended.
MoreAn absolute magic delight for the senses. My partner and I had a lovely New Year’s Eve dinner here to see out 2020 and nothing disappointed us! Warm, friendly service with an interesting cozy atmosphere of Persian lights, wall hangings and other ancient relics line the walls. We really felt at home here and the food did not disappoint - we even tried the camel which was delicious, the spices are to die for! I’d highly recommend this restaurant for a full Persian experience! Worth the travel from Canberra, 10/10!
MoreOne of the most magical restaurants I have been to in Australia. Ate the best vegetarian stew I have ever had. Delightful entrees, exquisite dips and delicious dessert pastries as well. Beautiful flavours, super fresh and really authentic Persian cuisine with a focus on the type of food eaten in the mountainous regions of North Iran.Feels like stepping into a different world. Reza (the ownerhas an awesome life story and spent a ton of time just chatting to us about life in Iran and his past experience as a pro skiier.I would have paid double for an experience this good. Will absolutely be back again when next in Jindabyne. Do not miss it.
MoreAbsolutely amazing! We tried most of the mains and few starters - everything was sooo delicious. Our favourite was chicken and goat.Very welcoming service - it is a family run small restaurant so you better book in advance. It is being run by 2 ppl so no wonder they are super busy but so easy to talk to when they have a free minutes. If you are in that area - a must visit. Will be back next season!
MoreThis restaurant is simply amazing! The flavors are divine, dishes are presented beautifully, and the background music is great. This is a place not to miss in Jindabyne. It is small and gets booked out so book ahead of time! It is BYO. Anything we have tried on the menu has been fantastic. This time we had chicken stew ( khoresh-e-morghwhich was to die for, so flavorful! We also had the camel dish ( khoresh-e-shotorwhich also was great. The dips and the sambosags are not to be missed! We are so impressed with this restaurant, and I am not usually that easily impressed. I just wish this restaurant was in Sydney so we could go more often, lol.
MoreWe celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary here and enjoyed all the dishes we ate. Such a nice tucked away Persian restaurant in Jindy. Highly recommended. We had the the kuku (frittataand the the pastries = veg. For mains we had the lamb and the beef. Sorry I dont remember the names but we have pics. So delicious and would come back next year 👍🏼
MoreMy partner and I had an amazing meal here. Everyone was incredibly friendly and the food was fantastic. We will definitely return next time were in Jindabyne!
MoreAmazing place, the food was incredible with really good vegetarian and meat options! Lamb shank was the highlight for me. It was like being a guest at someone’s house and they were personally making sure everything was perfect which it was. Great value too
MoreThis warm cosy place is all about best delicious aromatic persian food, attention to details where every single ingredient is picked with passion and care, friendly atmosphere, welcoming faces and a lovely evening to remember. Make sure you book in advance!
MoreA really great find, delicious Persian food packed full of flavour and run by a really friendly duo. They even have spiced Persian coffee, what a treat. It’s BYO and cash only. So be sure to bring a good wine to pair with your meal and enjoy. :-)
MoreAmazing! Great vegan options. And the lamb is allegedly off the hook if youre into meaty fare.
MoreA very rare find, this authentic Persian restaurant does home style cooking reminiscent of Moroccan tagine in its mix of meat and fruit. The flavours are fresh and light, and the dishes all very different from anything Ive had before. We ordered the warm broadbean salad and dumplings as lighter dishes, and both were exquisite. For mains, the chicken with rhubarb was a highlight, and the camel curry (a special on the nightwas also great. Its a small place so be warned - the kitchen is not always the fastest. But if you have the time, dont skip it!
MoreThis is a lovely little gem. Great Persian food in an intimate space. Definitely put it on your list when you eat out in Jindabyne.
MoreJust a perfect spot to refuel after a big day on the hill. Take your time, bring a nice bottle of red and tuck into the beautifully prepared dishes. Book early though!
MoreA cozy family business like cafe with amazing food. Persian cousin, not bad price, very delicious.
MoreAmazing food, couldnt ask for a better food in Jindabyne, btw I am Persian and I should say the quality of food here was one of the best food I have ever had in my life, dont mention to my mum ;)highly recommended. 10/10
MoreAll flavours are unique and absolutely delish. Meat is perfectly cooked, vegetarian dishes were my favourite. All dishes are served with a smile. The restaurant is quaint with a warm and welcoming environment.
MoreGreat food. More on the expensive side but you wont be disappointed. Family run business. Homely and welcoming place. Great for date night. Ill be going back with out a doubt.
MoreReally lovely food, prepared and beautifully served by very gracious hosts. The flavours of Persia are incredible! Thank you
MoreLoved this cozy hidden gem.Authentic Persian.Staff were very attentive and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish recommended, especially the Maste-e-Khair: balanced and fresh flavours.Note this place is cash only but definitely worth it!!
MoreA real little treasure, cafe Darya have a warm, inviting atmosphere, decorated in Persian carpets and relics. The hospitality is gold and genuine warmth. The food was incredible, and full of flavour yet never over powering, always perfectly balanced. Our hostess was more than happy to answer questions about the dishes. As a vegetarian myself, I was catered for and loved my meal. Others in my party had goat and lamb, and they were equally as impressed. Thanks for a lovely evening.
MoreReally great food cooked by a really great and friendly couple !It was the first time in this restaurant for my partner and me and it is definitely not the last. Thanks to the owners for this good moment !
MoreHave never been so bluntly, rudely and immediately judged in my life. We had to be let in to a locked door by customers, to then be told without any welcome, eye contact or basic sense of recognition by the waitress “fully booked” as she continued to clear tables and walk off. We left before even trying to ask when an appropriate time to return would be.Bizarre to think a business in hospitality is so polarising in nature.Won’t even try to eat here now.
MoreWonderful cosy corner restaurant (book, they fill quickly!), & attentive & excellent staff. Delicious traditional Persian menu, dishes are shared with rice for the table. We had the prawns & slow cooked goat, both with a great sauce, & were lucky enough to get the crispy rice from the bottom of the cooker when asked for more! Chef was friendly & came out to chat about food & his culture
MoreA restaurant very much welcome in Jindabyne. Unique, flavoursome food. Lovely service and atmosphere. Lighting and decor on point. Will be back!
MoreThis little bit of Persia is tucked in the corner of Old town centre shopping strip. Its a proper ma and pa place as pa is the chef and ma hosts and helps prep the food also. So service is attentive, personal and in its own time, though not really that slow. The food is slow cooked and you can tell love is a key ingredient. The beef dish, Khoresht e Bademjan has a very tasty sauce. The duck and venison meat balls were also very nice. All nicely presented. The Persian tea with rock sugar was delicious and to finish, real Turkish delights.Well satiated.
MoreDelicious food with delicate, complex spice combinations. Food served without hurry in a warm unassuming atmosphere. Highly recommend.
MoreOur food was amazing. Highly recommended if you are after a gourmet homemade food. Everything was tasty! Lam shank, Duck, and goat were 😙
MoreIf you are after some authentic Persian foods try cafe Darya then, friendly staffs ,usually fully booked so book in advance , No Kabab BTW , byo and cash only , you will like it :)
MoreA beautiful and cosy family run restaurant. The food was fabulous and the service was so warm and attentive. We were disappointed that we were too full to try dessert!
MoreThis is a beautiful homely cafe. We visited here whilst on a snow trip.A family restaurant, our server was the daughter of the two chefs. She was delightful and gave very friendly advice on what to choose. The food was so full of flavour and the meat melted in our mouths. We had some deep fried elements which did not feel oily when eating. All our food showed care and attention to flavour, texture and quality. The cafe itself is pretty basic but they have done very well to decorate and build warmth into the space. They have BYO.Book in advance and get amongst it!
MoreYou possibly know Jindabyne or "Jindy" as a food wasteland. To disprove this, go to this richly flavoured, well presented and ultimately so satisfying Ottoman restaurant. Apres snow has never looked so appealing. BYO and sit back and enjoy the flavours of goat, eggplant, spice and rice. Yummy
More6pm. It smells so good!6:55 have just finished the first course - a modest salad of yoghurt, capsicum and a mix of herbs and spices which tantalise the taste buds and leave me wanting more.
