These cabins were so cute. The electricity works wonderfully with lots of outlets. Just remember to bring proper bedding and a fan! Oh, and staff was way nice, too!
An immaculate campground! Modern showers and restrooms, some paved trails, super friendly and helpful staff. Definitely a hidden treasure!
Very quiet and clean and close to the city.
Pretty ok wouldn’t go again mid at best
This is a hidden gem as far as camping near Chicago. Only 5 campground sites for RVs. Very odd that each site has Electric & Sewer... but no water. BUT, you call the office and they bring a hose to your site and you fill your tank. We stayed 6 nights, the maximum allowed. Got water twice. Extremely quiet. No fires by us. No noisy kids near us. A 2.8 mile paved bike path, but .8 more miles to get to it. Hilly. Super area once inside the preserve. I almost hate to spread the word. 10* really.
The place is immaculate the staff is super friendly and its definitely a great place to have a family reunion!
Staying here. Ampang was a great experience staff was super helpful
Really clean campground. It’s secluded in the woods but very close to a whole bunch of restaurants and shopping. Plus the hiking/walking trails are lovely.
Elaine is by far one of the nicest human beings on the face of this earth. From the first phone call to our departure, she was on top of everything and more thoughtful than one of your very own relatives.Campgrounds are maintained very well, and many amenities are within close driving distance. Definitely an underrated campground!
Our first time camping… we had a great experience. This place is safe, clean beautiful nature…
I love this place super fun went there with family and friends before and went again I love it so much and so did they.
Elaine was absolutely amazing! We were unable to book with her but she went out of her way to help us find a place for us and our children. Highly recommend this place on customer service alone!
When it comes to Cook County Campgrounds Camp Reinberg is a hidden gem. Inside the actual campground it is surrounded by beautiful prairie grasses and flowers. Part of its unique charm is that cars are not allowed at campsites and trails surrounding them. Because of this it is more enjoyable and less stressful for families who are visiting. Children can ride bikes around the loop without the worry of vehicle traffic. The trails surrounding the campground are also worthy of an excursion while you stay here.
Nice location for camping in the Chicago area. Facilities are new and clean and there are some nice hiking trails in the Deer Grove Forest Preserve. If you want to travel to downtown Chicago, the Palatine Metra station is nearby.
Cabins with ameneties, with access to accessible outdoors trails and paths. Great for groups.
Of course it holds fun memories from our grade school visit, plus its got a nice trail system.
Clean, affordable, friendly staff lovely paved trail. Very convenient so glad my daughter found this place and I would definitely love to return!
Great place but wish they had water at the camp sites.
Great camping spot especially for kids or others who are just getting into it. The tent plots are on a raised woodchip bed, and clearly marked. There are (cleanbathrooms closeby, and a shop that sells pretty much everything, including kindling/firestarters. There are beautiful trails connected to the campground for something to do during the day. Highly recommend if youre fine staying in the suburbs.
Great camping. Close to the park and bike trails.
Wonderful place to spend the weekend. My son loves celebrating his birthday, making fire, having freedom for play.
Great place. Excellent accommodation. Friendly staff. Away from the city while nearby.
This is a great place! The staff is helpful and courteous!
We were looking for a place close-ish to Chicago to camp—close enough to pop in and visit museums on consecutive days without paying for a hotel room in the city, and also in an area that felt very safe. Camp Reinburg worked for us. 45 min drive to Museum Campus. Camp was super-clean and well maintained. You can park right by the RV/tent sites, but all cabins and all tent-only sites are removed from where you park but they do have two big wagons you can pull along a mostly sidewalk trail to haul your camping gear to the site/cabin. Campsites were peaceful and near the woods—more enjoyable IMO than a big open field. Tent sites are not huge but are well maintained and most have a nice mulch tent pad. Note, gate is locked 10pm-7am.
We stayed for a wedding in the area. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and very quiet.
Very pleasant and clean campsite. Elaine is extremely friendly and helpful :)
Very nice facilities. Surprisingly secluded tent & RV camping. Easy trail access. Friendly staff.
Very clean, friendly staff. Good for scouts, family events and younger children. The trails are also nice for bikers and hikers
Great place to camp! Well kept areas outdoors and indoors. Clean bathrooms and showers. Very friendly and helpful staff!
Tent camped. Great site, clean. Elaine? was great.
We were the only campers there this week. The showers ran out of hot water within 5 mins, but is supposed to be fixed now. Went hiking and the area has great trails.
Nice, clean campground. Staff is very personable and friendly. Lots of trails and wildlife. Woke to find deer in next site over.
Informative program. Looks like nice camping.
Great place to have fun and learn about wildlife!!!! Kudos
I came in for work, but the campground is something that is new to the forest preserves. It was established in 2015, and while they might have killed some oak trees in the construction, the overall location is marvelous. Housed not too far from complete urban control, it is a welcomed retreat from home away from home. It would serve wonders for the citizens of cook county to get away for a camping trip for a weekend.
Small but its good for a short getaway. Nice trails to walk and enjoy nature
Only 5 RV sites, 2 asphalt, 3 gravel. Cramped and overgrown RV sites. You have 2ft. Tall grass surrounding your entire camper . Tight turns to get RV in and out of spot with very little room to even park your tow behind car. Most parking areas have time limits and are dilapidated. Careful pulling in, there are potholes everywhere. Stayed once, wont ever go back. For a newer camping site its already rundown and very unmaintained. One good thing...the Forrest preserve police department makes a lot of rounds, so dont have to worry about people lurking around. Also, do not use their outdoor facilities. Talk about rundown...also disgusting.
People are really friendly.. No privacy you have a little lot.
Amazing night at the cabin with family and friends we will be back soon.
Nice, clean campground with a lot of facilities. Only downside is sounds of cars, trains, and planes almost all night.
This is a very nice clean camp site with very clean bathrooms and showers. I would return if again in Chicago.
Elaine was very patient and helpful. Great place for bicycle camping. Nice tent sites.
Beautiful park and wonderful campsites. There is road noise but the proximity to the city makes up for it. The trails are awesome and there is so much wildlife. We stayed for a eek and every single day there were deer hanging around our site!
Coolest in little town camping spot ever . Clean and safe - great for families and first time campers.
Awesome staff. Nice place to camp if you have a large group.
Great place to camp. Helpful and enthusiastic staff. Superior facilities. Easy access to forest preserve and trails.
Very peaceful, beautiful natural walking & biking trails. First class facilities for cabin camping, RV sites & tent sites. Large open indoor room for group activities, events and/or social gathering.
Probably fine if you are arranging an outing for a scout group or kids birthday. When we stayed, a group moved in next to us that made excessive noise before quiet hours and continued vomiting, yelling, holding wrestling matches, and referring to each other with racial epiphets after quiet hours.Woke up the next morning and found that no one had slept at their site at all, and they had wrecked the site in their partying. There is a 2 ft space between sites - not an inch more. This pit our quiet little getaway against their underage drinking strategy. Why didnt we complain? We did in the morning - the campground staff did nothing, we think one of them was partying with this group the whole time.
Public camping near Chicago! Reinberg offers cabins and tent sites for people to visit the forest preserves. Just a few miles out of chicago, its a great opportunity to get outside, take in some hikes, and surround yourself with trees, prairie, and wildlife.
This place is great! New, clean bathrooms and showers. The sites are well-maintained. The staff we encountered (with the exception of one personwere very friendly and helpful. The only thing missing is a playground of some kind for kids.
