All the staff were friendly.With every staff member no request was an issueall were helpful. the food was excellent.The night life Jock was great.The hotel is extremely tired and needs alot of work but very clean. The top balcony needs replacing urgently. The hotel needs new beds. The parking is only pick up and drop off only but the bus service(winter onlyis regular.

Oh dear.... Candice and Will Schipp .... I do need to clarify things in regards to your reviews!Yes you turned up to our restaurant on the night we were closed for a private function..... As we discussed that night ....You made the booking on the Open table app and thought you had booked for 22AUG but because we were closed for that night , in actual fact the Open table app had offered you availability for the next available night after 22Aug.As you did not check the confirmation text that Open table had sent you, and just assumed that it was booked for the date you wanted, you were unaware of this.I explained to you that it had happened a lot this season and that i had rung Open Table to find out how and why it was happening and to see if they could stop it happening BUT as they showed me .....When the app says "there is no online availability within 2.5 hours of 7.00pm ....and then says "Future Availability around 7pm" ..the date of those future options is very clearly shown.It has been very disappointing for everyone, but unfortunately there is nothing we can do to stop this happening, as it is not an error on Open tables part (or Candlelight Lodge)regardsAnnie Leggett Manager Candlelight Lodge

Such a wonderful place with rich history, great mountain view, friendly staff and very delicious food. Highly recommend to visit! Large family proven accomodation.Special thanks to Annie!

Booked dinner thru their website, turn up an sorry private function. Apparently 20 others stuffed around as well. Manager made it clear that she knew about the issue and phone the booking company and they said its OK. Ok to stuff 20 bookings / families. Avoid bad management.

Great place to stay. We had the family room which offered AMAZING views of the mountain. The staff were great, especially Annie’s personal touch which made the experience allthe more enjoyable. The food was amazing. We had breakfast and dinner there. Compliments to the Chef.

Stayed in room 1 and bitterly disappointed. Bathroom is soo small you need to leave it to change your mind. As this room is directly above the 1st floor bar and restaurant the noise never ends. You can simply hear everything coming through the floor and can’t sleep until the bar empties out at midnight. The beds are so tiny they’ve belong in a doll house. Not what you’d expect for the $!!

Amazing meal you can tell the chef prides himself on his food. So much love on a plate. Reasonably priced for Thredbo - a must visit!

Functional basic facilities. Well located and great selection of German beer.

A really nice place to stay in Thredbo! We had the family room that fit 5 people, very clean, spacious and warm. The lodge provides breakfast and dinner by booking in advance. They also have a vintage bar with life music over the weekend. Annie is very kind and really accommodated our late check in. She also helped to pick up us after our walk. A very well-spent hols in Thredbo!

Dined there recently, had the pork knuckle, delicious! Eclectic drinks menu too, worthy neighbour of the now departed Black Bear Inn

Excellent food, good portion, very attentive service and great atmosphere. This restaurant is usually booked out a few days in advance.

Doing their best with covid. The cheese fondue was actually very good. Entrees and desserts were acceptable given the circumstances.

Beautiful, cozy Alpine Lodge with the friendliest staff on the mountain. Annie and her team are so accomodating and kind.Front and centre views of Thredbo Village and the ski runs from the restaurant are unmatched.I would recommend Candlelight Lodge any time of year to anyone visiting Thredbo :💕

Cheese fondue for dinner, and chocolate fondue for dessert = delicious. Annie was very friendly when I booked dinner and service in the restaurant was great. Kids accommodated without issue. Great wines & schnapps list. Recommended.

Would definitely go back! We got the wurst board and the cheese fondue and both were great. Really authentic sausages and the cheese fondue was a fun experience.

So easy to book into the restaurant using their new open table software online and Annie was so accommodating when our numbers changed and went out of her way for us. The food was so good, everybody at the table loved their meals - you could taste the passion in the cooking whilst Jock was playing in the background which is a real treat! It’s always been my favourite spot in Thredbo for the welcoming staff, atmosphere and amazing European drinks menu. Do yourself a favour and pop in this winter!

Great place to stay. Breakfast offers a little limited but the staff/mgmt were excellent. Had dinner a couple of nights and the jagerschnitzel was perfect. A few beers on the deck at the end of the day was just what I needed after a day of hiking. Soloist on a Sunday was great too.

Threadbo is great plenty to do, absolutely pumping in the off season. Well worth the visit.The candlelight lodge didnt have the room ready when we arrived. Had to wait an hour which was well after their check-in time. Shampoo/soap dispenser was empty, hairy soap left in shower from previous guests.If you are going to make me wait the least you can do is to ensure the room is clean.

Authentic German feel and decor. Only had dinner here. Amazing jägerschnitzel and glühwine. Busy little place but worth the wait. Dinner with a lovely view too!

One of the most authentic German meals and dining experiences Ive had! Highly recommended. Couldnt believe a place like this exists in all of Australia.

We were late in getting back from an all day, 22 km hike on a Sunday evening. Most places were closed -- but the folks at Candlelight found place for us and made us feel completely at home in their quaint, German-themed Australian-Alpine establishment -- despite being booked nearly full! With an excellent selection of wines, delectable entrees (try the asparagiand hearty mains (spatzli+veal), our weariness was soon behind us. We will certainly be back.

A lovely mountain lodge staffed by extremely friendly people. John and the team have created a european chalet ambience in a spectacular location.

A friend and I were booked to stay there over the Christmas period. Someone by the name of John had cancelled the booking when we queried if there were options to change dates (which is not confirmation of cancellation by the wayand put us up in another lodge which was smaller. No compensation for the trouble caused or anything. Im sure these guys will continue getting business however since there isnt always a lot of accomodation available during peak season. Its very rare for me to give a 1 star on google as Id rather reach out and settle this amicably but this 1 star is well deserved.

The food was fine. Service was only ok. The waiters constantly asking how we are made me uncomfortable.To start off, the man on the phone for booking always sounded really disgruntled and rough.We booked for a table at 6pm. There was no mention of when we have to vacate the table. At around 7pm, we had finished our food and were going to take another 5 mins to finish our drinks before leaving. As it was a busy night, we even tried to be quick to vacate the table for them. However, the waiter still felt the need to come and rush us by telling us we need to vacate soon as the booking finishes by 7:15pm which is a lie. Had he been honest and ask us to leave earlier because of the crowd, we would have been happy to move along. The way it was done really left a bad taste to the whole experience.There are better places to eat and spend your money in this area.

Stayed here on a Monday and Tuesday, we were woken up late at night multiple times by (almost certainlythe staff drinking / smoking / talking on the main balcony below the room after the bar and restaurant were closed both nights.Apart from the very nice lady serving breakfast, all staff just not interested looking after guests / seemed like a chore to speak with us. Acknowledge it’s the end of season but more like a social club for them than a hotel for us.Rooms are dated but comfy, location is great.

Lovely restaurant. Warm and cozy with nice decor but not formal and stuffy. Lovely staff. Wide range of choices for German beers which were quite nice! The food was good, big in size (couldn’t finish my main mealand well priced. Great place to dine! A bit small though so booking might be prudent when it’s the busy season.

The room was was better than expected for Thredbo judging on past experiences at other lodgings here. The food at the restaurant very nice and well priced although a somewhat limited menu. The staff where more than willing to oblige with any requests, overall a great experience, we have rebooked next year for the 2020 snowy ride

We went for dinner in the restaurant and must say the Jägerschnitzel and the Lamb shoulder were magnificent. Sizable plates. Good service.All restaurants on Thredbo are pricey.

Nice, clean and spacious family room with 2 bathrooms. Great location, Walk to all activities. Like other places here, parking is limited (only 3). Basic Breakfast, room can be quite warm during summer. Friendly service and Lisa is always helpful.

Loved the lodge! A lovely, large family room with amazing views over the mountain. Breakfast was included and the view from the restaurant was also incredible. Pablo and Lisa were so helpful and friendly and couldn’t do more to help. The bar has an amazing selection of German beer and schnapps! Also loved the sauna. Great for kids - so family friendly and relaxed - there are also lots of toys, a games room and table tennis.

Nice Swiss style challet. Great selection of German beer. Parking is limited and you may have to park far away (this seems to be the case for a lot of places in Thredbo). The restaurant is adjacent to the bar and can be very loud if there is live music on.

We love Candlelight Lodge - we have eaten dinner here in years gone by and this time decided to stay for a 4 nights - for those who love fondue, it is a must. John and Megan have maintained the lovely warm European Alpine feel and Lisa and Pedro could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. We look forward to coming again another season.

Only went to the restaurant we were staying nearby. To be honest we went here as it was too cold for our group to go further but it turned out to be really good luck for us. We ordered a Tomahawk steak and a shared chicken dish between 6 of us and it was amazing, really well cooked and yummy flavors. They have some really nice beers too. Staff were friendly and owner stopped to talk to us about the beers. Will definitely go again next year.

Accomodation is getting a little bit tired but clean and tidy with good friendly service. Good views of the ski slopes from windows and handy to all the town amenities. Only 3 parking sites available otherwise you will need to park in the overnight parking lot at the bottom.

Cosy place with super friendly staff. Great views of the mountain and in a central location convenient for just about everything. We enjoyed the sauna and ping pong table too. I would stay there again.

Location was very good as its right in the middle of the village, short walking distance to the chairlift. However there are only 3 parking spaces available outside the lodge so we had to park a 5 minute walk away which was annoying. The view from the room was excellent. However, the decor inside the rooms is outdated, and we were there in Summer and no fly screen on the windows meant flies kept coming in, and there is no air con so we had a very hot uncomfortable night.

Nice friendly staff. Room was clean, spacious and with a nice view. We went in the off season so parking was convenient. Conveniently located for restaurants and the chairlifts.

Great place accommodation wise, staff very helpful and friendly. Trish goes way beyond the expectations of host. Would recommend Candlelight in summer, (would be terrific in the snow season if your young Jim&Marie.

Here for the LEtape, fortunately found a room. Amazing view, location and great parking spot. Great help with securing the bikes and navigating around the Thredbo village. Staff was kind and was quite reachable in regards to queries about the area, food, and bar. Would highly recommend this place. Wish I could stay here for weeks.

Outstanding meal. Authentic Tyrolean cuisine. A good cheese Raclette is hard to find. James is a great friendly bartender too! Wish we could stay here too. Book early or come in summer for a fantastic man bike or hiking experience.

Awesome family owned lodge in Thredbo Village!! Alison, Andrew and the rest of the staff are incredible and make you feel like at home.Rooms have a nice view of the Mt. Kosciuszko and the ski slopes, and are spacious and very clean.Restaurant is also very good (love the cheese raclette and the meat fonduebut be aware that its always crowded for dinner, so dont forget to book a table (even if youre a guest of the lodge).Definitely a place to stay if you are visiting Thredbo!

Candlelight lodge is a good place to stay for a reasonable price. The Hungarian/alpine style is really cool (would be even better in Winter), but rooms are a little bit dated with broken door handles, etc...Free breakfast consisted of cereal, toast and some fruit.Even though this is a cheaper place to stay, it would have been better if they provided some simple things like shampoo.We would probably stay here again. Candlelight Lodge has been a favourite restaurant of ours for years. A hidden gem! We returned again this ski season and had two amazing meals including our favourite cheese fondue. The service was as good and friendly as the delicious meals.

We stayed there for 2 nights in September. The room was spacious and clean with a fantastic view. The staff (Alisonwas very helpful and we were even given an upgrade from continental breakfast to a full hot breakfast for free! Excellent service and highly recommended.

We have stayed here twice. Once over Easter and once over Anzac Day long weekend. So i dont know what its like in peak season but when we have been here its been great. Nice people, awesome location, great view of the mountain and reasonable breakfast. I could imagine in Winter the bar would be extremely cosy and a wonderful place to have a drink and bite to eat!!!
