Spent 4 hours waiting for them to telling me to wait another 2 hours. What kind of service is this?
Friendly staff, reasonable prices and efficient. My first experience bringing in a emergency to redwood vet was great, I would definitely recommend
If youre shopping for a vet:I absolutely LOVE Redwood Veterinary Clinic!Dr. Patterson is gentle, knowledgeable, and explains in an easy to understand way.Even though receptionist Casey was extremely busy, she made sure I was checked out as soon as possible, even took the time to carry Darla back out to the vehicle!RVC made Darlas visit comfortable and painless (yeah, sure, there was the updated rabies shot for her and a bill for me but it wasnt astronomical).I highly recommend this Veterinary! But you HAVE to be patient. There is a long wait for appointments but its worth it.
Drs. & team provided excellent emergency & follow up care to our "senior" dog. A late Sunday night, they naturally prioritize their cases, but were reassured & all was handled amazingly well, given the circumstances. Were ever-so-grateful for their superb care. Also, they ALWAYS accommodated us w/ their busy schedule & worked us in for follow up, check - up visits. ( Our out of town trips). Great post- treatment- care instructions for home, also. Thorough. Thank you again. Vivian
Brought our dog after massive heart attack, the dog was dying and barely breathing, they wouldnt let us in or attend to the dog, asking that we call first! I said its an emergency, what do u mean "call first?" Your sign says "Emergency Animal Hospital". I cant use my hands to call because I was pumping the dogs chest to revive it, finally they took the dog in, few minutes later they notified us that he dog had died, and now weve been trying to get our dog ashes for 2 weeks, they keep saying "there is 7 lines ahead of you, can you hold" ! The staff is nice, but they need a better management.
Very helpful to me and my girl Dixie, answered any concerns I had and reasonably priced, thank you guys!!
Great Doctors and techs. We have had to make several visits recently (several different animalsand they all have been gracious. Worth the wait. Be patient and they will do the job. Thank you all for your services
Got her at 6pm. And it’s already 12am. They are now just coming over with an estimate for potential cost for seeing my dog. The people who were here earlier already left and the receptionist that is coming to help me got here at 10pm. I don’t know what to do. My dog needs care and I really don’t know what to do.Update: the receptionist ended up laughing at my concern for my dog and I ended up not being seen.
Good doctors care, they charge to much, you have to wait for at least 6hrs to begin seeing, and theres some receptionist, whit a very bad service, very rude!
Brought our cat Luigi into emergency after he had a seizure. The emergency Vet completely mis diagnosed and advised he had cancer due to a mass in body, advised it was really inoperable. Found a mobile vet (Dr Stephanieto help with "end of life" treatment. After spending allot of money and time (4-5 months), finally some blood work was done and no cancer traces. Found a different mobile vet, whom after just a quick evaluation , immediately began treatment for excessive fluid with diuretics. Within a few days Luigi was responding very well. But seemingly too much damage had been done. He started having seizures again, the day before the follow up visit. Rushed him back to emergency, waited for over 3 hours, left in frustration, hoping hed make it through till morning for Dr Sandra. But he was continued to suffer the seizures. Brought him back to emergency and the finally got me in. They said hes not likely to survive so we decided to put him down. But that experience also went poorly as they seemed to botch that up. They had to put electrodes on him to see if they had successfully put him down as he was still twitching and his tail was fluffed. This was the worst veterinary experience I have ever had...
The vet really helped my dog and diagnosed him correctly. And with the antibiotics he was healed within a week
Receptionist named Leslie very rude, she has no phone etiquette. They know that they are one of the few 24hr emergency vets and they take advantage of that as pet owners have no choice. Ther are only few staff members that are compasionate and caring but most are lack empathy. The vets are great! Not sure if they are aware how rude their staff is?
Redwood Veterinary HospitalIs so dedicated to helping our beloved pets they never close and open up.for emergencies the minute they close you must be in the parking lot right at 6:00 p.m. and call in to get on the wait list but theyre professional assistants make sure to come to your car and take a look at your pet making sure they are stable enough to wait for the most urgent cases to be seen first They are kind , caring and affordable and my heart melted watching two.nurses assist with a dog who.couldnt stand or walk into.the clinic , l cried but really felt their honest concern I hope that big dog got whatever he.needed to not sufferThankyou
Got my dog in fast for an emergency exam. Diagnosed the problem and explained it to me. Completely satisfied with their normal visits as well.
Do NOT take your French bulldog here. We got recommended to go here for an emergency service because VCA was at capacity. My dog had some allergy issues and we wanted to make sure his airway wasn’t compromised. They gave him a “mild” sedative to do their assessment without even asking us first. French bulldogs have breathing issues to begin with. They sent him back to us in respiratory distress and said “oh this is normal. It’s just anxiety. We gave him a mild sedative”. When he got home the panting got worse and he couldn’t even stand up to protect his airway. We took him back to be monitored the rest of the night. 4 hours later he is STILL panting and can’t even fall asleep. And then they had the audacity to charge me $109 extra for his stay even though this all could’ve been prevented if they didn’t sedate him. All of this just so they could look in his ears and trim fur around his hot spot. No vet has ever had to sedate him for an assessment. When they brought him back they recommended that we get airway surgery for him basically putting the blame on me for his respiratory distress that They caused. Never going back here againUPDATE: we took him to our actual vet the next day. My dog was shaking because he was traumatized from the night before. AND our actual vet pulled a foxtail out of his ear. Redwood vet sedated my dog to do an ear assessment and missed a giant foxtail! Shocked beyond belief. I should be getting my $ back
This place by far has the worst communication center ever. I am so disgusted with the lack of communication and lies they give if it wasn’t that I had to bring my animal here I would have not. Reaching out to the better business bureau.
Horrible Establishment. Rude & incompetent staff. Discriminates on different types of dog breeds they will treat .DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.
My cat was dieing and I called all the vets in the area and all were 2 to 3 weeks booked. (Just wanted to put her out of her miseryThe only game in town was to arrive at the emergency vet hospital at 6:00 pm and wait. Arrived at 5:45 and no empty spaces in the parking lot. When I got to the lot she had expired. Very sad day. I would think that if that many people needed emergency services an emergency vet would not be making non emergency appointments
Took my one year old pup in with a range of symptoms at midnight, and walked away with no answers, wrongly prescribed medications that they would not refund, and what’s worse is that they walked my later diagnosed as lame dog out to the car, in pain, AND caused her soft tissue damage (as diagnosed by a second emergency vet service outside of town). The front desk was INCREDIBLY rude and insensitive, the vet himself, unhelpful and seemingly incompetent. Steve was this business’ only saving grace…too bad he doesn’t work for an equally conscientious employer.
I typically never write reviews, but I thought I is important for this clinic to understand my first impression. I was very upset on how I was treated when I called to ask a simple question. First impression is everything. I highly recommend for the admin staff to be more professional and diligent. For some families their animals are everything to them. When you have someone calm and level headed calling and asking about your process to bring their puppy in, I expected for someone to be thoughtful and friendly. Unfortunately my first choice ER was full, which was the only reason why I called this clinic. I work at a law firm and get an array of emotions. When someone is communicating to you respectful and really asking for clarity on how you all proceed with intake, I should not feel like I’m inconveniencing you. Not okay. My puppy is dear and near to me and I will not bring any animal of mine to a place where the customer service to the owner is just rude. I am very disappointed by my interaction with this clinic. I will never bring any dog of mine here. I will just commute to Petaluma. If you are a new patient here, I highly recommend you finding somewhere else. It’s hard enough when your worried about your animal and to top it off with a rude staff member for NO reason is really unfortunate. One bad apple can ruin it for the whole place.Do better!
At first impression I was not at all happy with the way we were treated. We recently took on the responsibility of stray cats that were born at our house. One of them is not doing well at all. So we decided to take her into the clinic. We arrived around 5:30pm. When they told us we couldnt get in until after there shift change. Understandable. We went home, had some dinner. And began calling several times between 6 and 6:30pm. The lines were busy. Once I arrived the lady that assisted us told me we had to call the number on the door, otherwise she couldnt help. I let her know the lines were bust and she Implied I was lying to her. "No there not, theyve been ringing non stop". Once I finally hot threw they put me on hold for 15 minutes. Once they picked up they asked questions about the cat. I let her know that the cat was non responsive. They meet us at the door and it was the same lady. She said this cat WAS responsive, so shes going to have to wait. There are several animals in front of her. The wait cam be around four hours. I told her to call me when shes ready. To which she let me know that if we werent present when they called they would move on to the next animal in line. "Its up to you." Ive really got mix feeli gs about this staff member. Not sure she wants to help. Not sure if she even likes her job anymore. The way she was talking to me really put me on edge. Made me feel unappreciated, even recommended I take the cat to SCAR for better assistance. Also, told me if I knew I had to pay for the medical expenses as it was a feral cat. She needs to learn how to use her work, pick them wisely and, over all she needs to speak with empathy. Im just saying, most people treat there animals as if they are there kids. This lady simply didnt want to help out. She really shouldnt be here.* Id like to recap on todays experience with Redwood Veterinary Clinic. After a 6+ hour wait and, me practically begging to the gatekeeper to please see the cat. They told me they had to do a quality of life on the cat to determine a medical condition. Within a little over a 15 minute span. They called to let me know the cat had rabies and should be euthanized. It was a this point I just about lost it. It was inhumane for the original attendant to determine the well being at the cat at the beginning of our visit. It didnt take a genius to realize the cat wasnt well and un responsive. In conclusion, I was not at all satisfied with the treatment I received. The lack of professionalism and determination was simply appalling.

The PROFESSIONALS at Redwood Veterinary Clinic told me they will do a quality of life exam after me practically begging to provide us with some assistance. Within little over 15 minutes they called me to inform me the cat had rabies and should be euthanized. This got me very upset. Due to the fact that the lady that first assisted me decided that the cat was well enough to wait for other animals to be take. Care of first. It was inhumane for her to make that call. Especially since I told her the cat was not well, not responsive and in critical condition. Not to mention that the procedure required to determine the cat had rabies took a little over 15 minutes. It was irresponsible on her part. In conclusion, although this cat was not mine as it was feral, I did my best to provide this cat medical attention. Attention, this establishment couldnt administere.
Called up and explained my situation with my dog who was in pain. They said to come and park in the lot and call their number. I drove up with my dog, who was in pain, and had to dial 56 times - the number was busy and finally someone came on and put me on hold for 10 minutes. When I again explained the situation she rudely told me that she didnt consider this an emergency and wouldnt see me - yet I saw vet technicians releasing dogs they were seeing that were literally running in the lot. So I had to drive back with my dog in pain - a complete waste of time. I will never use these thoughtless people again. If I could give negative stars I would.
They were amazing! My sis’s cat had an abscess and they drained it so quickly. My sister is not 18 so she wasn’t able to go in which we hated but understand. The doctor was amazing and kitty is at home chilling.
The first attendant who assisted us was terrible, assuming we understood and knew what the bill estimate was. She explained nothing and when we asked her to explain she was not of any use. She was rude in her presence. I hope i never have her again as my boyfriend and i both found her customer service at a zero. However the second technician male for our follow up was absolutely AMAZING at the least. Explained every step and checked in personally with us during our dog procedure. His customer service was OUTSTANDING and we thank you... ur coworker should shadow you and learn how to communicate to people during a sensitive time.We value and appreciate the overall service we have had for many years for 4 of our animals with this veterinary.Minus the rude clerk
EDIT: Removing 2 stars because the quality of service has gone WAY down the last couple of years. Appointments are impossible to schedule for less than a week or two out, and you sometimes have to wait outside 4 hours or more for emergency appointments. You are left on hold for a very long time if you try to call, and they NEVER answer emails. Their lobby is still closed (seems like everywhere else has opened their lobbies by now), so you always have to wait in your car, with your pet, even when it’s very hot outside. The worst, though, is they are not transparent about their prices. They don’t consult you about what procedures/labs you want/need done, and just slap you with an enormous bill at the end. (When I ended up taking my cat to VCA in Rohnert Park, they sat down with me and went over options and estimated cost. It was wonderful! When I was hit with a surprising $4,000 bill, they didn’t even offer any payment plan options. They just told me to pay upfront. When my young cat was diagnosed with FIV, I asked the vet for a recommendation of “high quality” food and she would NOT give me any info. When I would toss out brand names I knew, she just said “I guess that one is fine?” I asked how best to care for an FIV cat, and she just said “keep her inside.” Nothing more. Mind you, I was literally crying on the phone and felt desperate for any information. I got NO help. When I tried to call the vet again later because my cat was violently vomiting up her medicine, the receptionist took down my name and no one ever called me back.I understand the pandemic has made things hard, and there is a bit of a vet crisis happening, but other places have managed to adjust much better. I may need to return to Redwood in the future, so I hope they manage to get back to the quality they once had. I’m leaving 3 stars because they used to be so good, and I have hope that they can get back to how they were.Old 5-star review:Always great service (with ONE exception from one nurse(?about 10 years ago, literally only that one timeand my pets come away happy and healthy and well taken care of. Prices aren’t exactly competitive, but I feel like with pet healthcare you shouldn’t be looking for a deal, you should be looking for quality.
I don’t like the idea of accidentally taking another dog’s ashes home. The actual process of putting my pup to sleep was everything that I expected, however uncertainty and stress was all I felt when picking up my pup’s remains. When I saw the clinic’s phone number on my screen I was filled with joy and couldn’t wait to pick her up! However, when I answered the phone, the woman gave me another dog’s name. We paid for the private cremation (which was a couple hundred dollarsbecause I knew I wanted to bring back all of her, and ONLY her home with me. I felt an instant pit in my stomach just thinking about the idea of bringing someone else’s dog home instead of the one I’ve had for 15 years. On the phone, the woman instantly apologized, stated that the labels had been mixed up, but reassured me that everything was fine and that I could come by later that afternoon/evening to pick up my pup’s remains. When I arrived later that evening, I was in the parking lot stuck on the phone because they could not find my name on the “list”. The young lady took my first name, last name, and my dog’s name several times and told me she didn’t have my name on the list. I was not only stressed, but extremely concerned about how unorganized they were. I told the young lady about my confusion because the woman I spoke with a few hours ago told me my pup’s ashes would be ready for pick up. She insensitively replied “Like I said, I don’t have your name on my list.” After going back and forth several times, she put me on hold and when she came back on the line, she told me she’d be meeting me outside. Out she came with a little box in her hand. Before taking the box, I asked for some reassurance that the box she had in her hand was indeed the remains of my dog. With no words, she looked at me, flipped the box upside down to put the label in my face which had mine and my dog’s info. I shared with her my concerns of taking some one else’s dog home and she finally responded back with an explanation. All in all, this was an extremely stressful experience and that I would not want anyone else to go through. Losing a member of the family is already hard enough and the last thing we need is feeling uncertainty and doubt about the trust we give to a clinic when handling our loved ones.
We had to wait 35 minutes outside the office with no phone call or notice that they were going to be late. They had NO regard for the comfort of the pet or the pets owner. They didnt give a discount for their lack of planning. They were rude and condescending. They know that there is no other vet nearby that could accommodate my 18 year old cat at such short notice. It was either wait another month to get an appointment somewhere else or tolerate their incredibly bad service and pay to be treated poorly.
Positive treatment the day of the emergency, but they would not submit the necessary paperwork to my insurance company so that I could be fairly reimbursed, which cost me $694 unnecessarily. I explained the situation and the vet there, Dr. Hoskins, was unwilling to take the time to help me. For this reason, I wouldnt return to this clinic.
Our Family cat was in great distress and the thanks to the amazing crew and Doctors at Redwood Veterinary took great care. Caring and very knowledgeable employees even with our sad outcome of an aged Norman. At their 24 hour services, I observed with safe and secure intake and transfer of animals into and out of their offices.Grateful for their service to our family friends
Worst vet I have ever been to stay away, first time we went in they performed the wrong test, we called and asked why they did this they said it was our fault for “approving” it so we paid for a test we didn’t order, on our file there were notes on the test we did order saying we requested the right one they performed the wrong one. Then we booked another appt and they canceled it less than 24hrs it took two weeks to get in and said their manager had told us we can’t come in anymore by phone. No one ever told us we can’t come in anymore she said there are notes all over our file, I was offended that not only did no one tell me, but the way they canceled and were so rude on the phone. I have run my own business for 20yrs terrible terrible business do not go here.If you ask questions about appts or they make a mistake you will be blamed. I worry for pets where something more severe happens, not a safe place to bring pets.
Our awesome dog had reached the end of his life. The entire staff and Doctor showed caring and empathy during this difficult time. We are extremely grateful.
Probably the most unhappy Ive ever been at a place I was counting on their help. They were uncooperative, rude. , And had no compassion for my cat. We waited for over 4 hours and they were not helpful or even correct in there diagnosis. I really realized how poor there care was the next day when we brought our cat to another wonderful and compassionate veterinarian. This place needs to be re staffed and they need to have a better understanding of what they are really there to do... Heal and help our beloved pets ..
Changed to this clinic after a bad experience with a popular chain clinic, the staff is really great and the vets are efficient. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of five is that they are really busy and appointments are a couple of weeks out. But their emergency clinic is great in a pinch!
Fine with the over priced vet bills. But they made you dog walk out with a broken leg they just diagnosed her with. Had tell you tell the selfish lady to pick her up after she then had an attitude. She’s either careless or desensitized. Wrong profession for her to be in. Ride their case at this place don’t be shy.How would you feel if a doctor treated your brother with broken leg and the nurse told him to walk out with no crutches or cast and made you watch him walk over to you in pain with each step. If you can’t empathize with that. Imagine you had your knee cap busted and you were sent to walk to the car after you left the hospital and the doctor told you to keep her off it. Absolutely disgusting, and messed up.That’s my rant.Night shiftStaff employee: Caucasian thin maybe 140-150lb about 5,6”- 5,8” ponytail brown hair
My cat was in a terrible fight during the thunder and lightning storm and had a gash in her eye area and possibly her eye. This place in their 24 hour hospital really came through for her during a scary time. They helped clean her eye and medicate her with antibiotics and pain treatment, also sent me home with a weeks worth of medicine and drops for a fair price. I am normally scared to bring a pet to an animal hospital because of the walk in the door and it usually costs 600.00 to 1,000.00 to treat a pet, including my rabbit for an emergency. That is way too much. This place was able to do everything for a couple of hundred dollars. Which was a huge relief to me and my family. They are really doing everyone a service in their area while most animal hospitals seem to be only $$$ driven. Thank you for doing an excellent job Redwood Vet. Clinic, reassuring to know that good people are in the right industry that actually want to help out the animals and be fair. With Appreciation, this place is the best I have seen in the whole area
Our dog experienced a severe freak accident. Upon arrival our Echo was taken in immediately and they began prepping for surgery. After a 4 hour surgery, 2 feet of sutures, and 1 week at the vet he is home with us. We are not out of the woods yet with potential skin grafting required. I feel confident that my guy will be taken care of every step of the way during his healing process. All of the staff were friendly and patient with my obsessive calls checking on him. I will be bringing both of my pets there for routine vet care as well.
A business is only as good S it’s staff. The staff needs non violent communication skills and training. NVC. I don’t think I’m going to be back as it’s way to aggravating using their services. I can’t bear to think about how the stress is helpful to sick animals. Can one imagine a clinic that has good communication skills. I can.
Booked a radiology appointment for OFA two months out and drove two and a half hours from the south bay for the appointment. Unfortunately there were four accidents on the route here and we were 10 minutes late.We tried calling multiple times an hour before we arrived, knowing we would be a few minutes late and no one picked up. When we finally got a hold of someone we were five minutes away and they told us that since 1the appointment time they gave us on the phone was incorrect (also no written noticeand 2that it was 10 minutes after the supposed time that they would force us to reschedule. Were now driving two and a half hours home after having our time wasted and being treated with a complete lack of empathy and understanding. My advice is to go literally anywhere else for your animals needs.0/10 would not recommend to a friend.
This place took amazing care of my cat. He wound up having an emergency and I had to drive from clear lake to get him there, and from the moment they took his possession, he was in good hands. I highly recommend if you have an emergency with your pet, redwood veterinary is where to go. He was there for three days, and thank goodness they were there to take care of him.
They charged me $22 for a “nail trim” without asking me first when my dogs nails were NOT the issue of why she was being seen and still of proper length, they were just recently trimmed. There was no need for a nail trim especially without informing the owner first when they are charging me and the nail trim they serviced isn’t even enough to make a difference. NOT cool. They also didn’t bandage my dogs lesion the way you’d expect it needs to be or explain why it was left uncovered, just looks left sloppy to me. the wait is HOURS if you are just a walk in, unless it’s an emergency I would try and find another vet
My dog suffered for a week because no one would listen to what I said. Redwood listened to me and now my boy is back to his happy self!
This is a horrible clinic and I’ve been a client here for years. My daughters dog was stolen and somehow ended up at Redwood vet. The dog is chipped so they called us to say they had the dog. They proceeded to tell my husband he could not go and get her because the dog was registered to our daughter. He explained that she was in San Francisco. They refused to let us pick her up and called animal control since it would be more than 30 minutes until the dog could be picked up! This is how they treat loyal customers we’ve paid them hundreds of dollars if not thousands over the years they never had a problem taking our money! This is not a pet friendly place! They only care about the money. I will never take another animal there. I will tell everyone I know how horrible they are.
The doctor was very kind, thorough, and clear with what steps were recommended. I never felt pressured to have to do something and she did not push me to do any of the recommendations. The vet tech was also very kind and took the time to discuss aftercare treatment and ways to reduce/prevent stressors for my pup related to COVID. I never felt rushed or that they were in a rush either.Only downside was the lab work was a bit pricey but with the explanation I received,I felt it was worth it to rule out any major medical problems.
Worst experience I ever had there . I’ve been doing there 10 plus years . Drive almost 3 hours to go there to test my dogs . First they said my dog was too happy to X-ray. Then wanted to muzzle him . Then went onto to say they have to sedate them . Normally I could go back and help with x rays . This time my dog was extremely stressed all they wanted was sedate n get it done . I paid for all OFA s to be sent in yet they threw away thyroid . So I never even got a result .
They took care of my friends dog with gentle care, as he was attacked by a big dog. They didnt recommend any unnecessary testing, but did get take care of what needed to be done. The pricing was very decent. We were out of there in about two hours. I would definitely recommend this 24 hour clinic!
Am a SRJC prof, find that many folks in that community have been going to this vet clinic. Dr Hoskins has saved my dogs life literally 3 times, once from a loss of her nose due to attack/ She is still alive and kicking at age 17. Prices are compassionate, the staff so loving. Cant say enough about this place. Not fancy, their money goes into compassionate care
This is my first time coming to this vet and I will be returning for any emergency I have with my dogs. I got in, in a timely manner, compared to VCA that was a 4-6 hour wait. It didnt break my bank at all everything was reasonably priced. I love this place and will be recommending this vet to everyone!
This has been our go to place for emergency care for the last 14 years. Theyve treated all three dogs weve had in that time. The prices are very reasonable and the care is top notch. If you want amazing care at prices that are affordable you should utilize this places emergency care vs some of the other vet places.
They were kind and quick during my ER situation. It wasnt very busy being a Saturday evening, they took us in almost immmediately. The receptionists were very sweet and Dr. Llanes was very knoweledgable, quick to calm my panic by answering all questions quickly and confidently, and ensuring me that my dog will indeed be OK. Upon leaving I was expecting to receive a hefty fine for having my nerves calmed with 4 bottles of meds and a physical exam. All in all, on a Saturday 4:30 pm visit, they only charged me $86. I thought I was going to cry. Her usual vet had quoted me over $300 the day before so I had tried to care for her the best I could at home until I could have a friend loan me money. Im so thankful her regular vet was unavailable, and that mendo hospital receptionist in Ukiah was so unproffesional and rude, or Id have never had this experience with Redwood Vet. You can tell its about the animals here, and I am so beyond grateful for it. If you want a big fancy vet that will rob you to pay their mortgage/electric, go across town, but if you want a vet that cares about animals and an establishment that has proven itself since 1961, Redwood clinic is your jam. Thank you, Dr. Llanes and reception for taking care of my baby girl.
