The Dirty Bismarck is on of my go-to rides - I love it!
The trail was a bit washed out from the rain but still a favorite!!!
This is a good walking trailhead
Great open space for recreation! Bathrooms are always clean too!
The Coalton trail head is located in the town of Superior by the round-a-bout at the intersection of Coalton and Mccaslin rd. At this location you will find a parking lot, a small pavilion, and a restroom. A primitive dirt and gravel trail starts here and traverses through many open fields and has a easy to medium difficulty level depending on your fitness level. The Coalton trail also connects with many other trails that lead to more rough and rocky terrain that heads down to Boulder. This is popular with hikers and mountain bikers.
Its all blackened because of the Marshal fires. So sad. But Im sure itll be back to 100% in no time! Lots of good support.
So many beautiful sites on each trail!Got to see the cows today.
Excellent trail with no parking fees.
Very easy, family friendly trail. Great for kids in walking bikes or training wheels.
Love ❤️ this trail!!!15 mile loop of easy/moderate trailGreat for beginner/intermediate level
This is a great hike or bike route on a cooler day. No shade but beautiful views of the Flatirons!
Great trail for hike on edge of Boulder Co. Connects to good mountain bike trail.
Great place to hike! Trailhead has restrooms, seating (with a BBQ grill), and ample parking. Theres handicapped parking available and overflow parking a few feet away if the primary lot is full. The trail is clearly marked and the hike itself is fairly easy. There are a few benches along the trail if youd like a spot to sit and talk or just enjoy the mountain view.
Wide trail with great views, full loop is only open July to November
Good for walkingif you go the the right trail, Go and Back take about 7 Km (1.5 hours)
A good hike in a pinch, great mountain Vista with sunsets galore
Good trail, some sections a bit rough. But views are wonderful.
Extremely crowded trail. Good for mountain biking though.
This is a really great trail! My 11 year old son and I did it today (both novices). Its about 16 mile loop, with a little bit of everything. Some technical biking over rocks,s general cruising a little bit of uphill and some fun down hills. Some amazing views, there really isnt any shade. And it is a long ride, so make sure that you bring enough water! Its not for the faint of heart, really due to the length of the ride. We finished in about two and a half hours for the 16 mile loop and we are not at all regular cyclists. We did it in a counterclockwise direction from the coalton trailhead.
Great morning or evening hike, very little shade but amazing views. Coyotes get active at sunset but they are closer to foothills.
Great intermediate biking trail I just did the full loop ended up being 16 miles is a busy trail but great views and IMO a challenging ride at least for a novice like myself lots of inclines and rough terrain
Nicely maintained, has restrooms, normally has open parking spaces. Trail is boring going clockwise for the first few miles, yet worth the effort. Start from Marshall Mesa if you want the best bits first. No shade, so bring extra water.
Awesome beginner singletrack... Super views! Great hiking if you prefer to hike rather than bike.
Great for a moderate hike or ride. A Sunday morning, during the Covid quarantine, made for a busy time. Unfortunately, there were some extremely reckless riders coming down the trails WAY too fast for the number of people trying to walk. Some with kids and dogs. Not a time to ride in a reckless, careless and thoughtless way.
Hard to take kid stroller.
Love the Coalton and Meadowlark trail from this trailhead. Climbs arent too steep or technical.
Always either too hot, too cold, too muddy or too windy. Good trail to get miles in!
The hill gives you a great workout on the way back... definitely helps me become a stronger athlete!
Great trailhead with a wide walking/biking trail that goes North or west. There is a small gazebo, bike repair station and parking lot
This trail is good for track running but not for hiking. It can be considered easy to moderate for bike riding.
Where the high plains almost touch the Front Range, a good hill workout location.
Decent parking, easy to get to, bathrooms and a bike fix station. Good pace to start the Dirty Bismark.
Great place for a quick morning ride or hike.
Finding long trails with broader paths to walk a hyper dog is scarce (other than dog park trails). This trail is one of those rarer gems.
Safe convenient parking lot with clean restrooms, bike repair post and picnic area jusy off Coalton Road and McCaslin Blvd. With expansive views of the flatirons.
Excellent trailhead to start the dirty biz loop from. BEWARE of the restrooms!!! Be sure to notify a friend before going in!
It goes out...It comes back...Coalton
Great trails for hiking, running and biking but stay on trails and watch for rattlesnakes hiding in taller grass.
I could be biased having enjoyed it for nearly 2 decades. The gravel trail is smooth, easy and in the open. Its expanded to connect to surrounding municipalities. Check out the Town of Superior website on the trails link to find out where you can go.. its almost infinitely inspirational with breathtaking views of the front range...bring water and sunblock. Restrooms at the trail head. Most busy of weekends or late mornings 9-11am M-F and 6-8 in the summer. Watch for occasional rattle snakes and the usual Rocky Mountain Wildlife we co-habitate with here.
I like this trail. Can go back for miles or turn back any time. Not much shade though. Must have Boulder license for your dog to be off leash
Its just a nice little spot to pull over onto and enjoy the view have a picnic or take a hike
Great trail, great facilities!
This hike is good for a quick open trail hike. There is no shade and many people frequent this trail. The trail itself can be quite muddy and is a mix of mostly dirt and some large to medium sized rocks for footing. The trail is also quite windy as there arent any trees to help block and settle the wind. There are opportunities for this trail to be quite long, I believe up to 10 miles or short just hiking in a bit, turning around and walking back. You do walk under giant power lines. The views are pretty good as you can see the mountains most of the hike.Dogs are allowed here on leash however many people have their dogs off leash so be alert for them.People walk, bike and take horses on these trails. The trailhead has a small picnic area with 2 picnic tables and 2 restrooms. No running water though. This trail is fairly easy, little elevation change but there are a few hills that can be challenging.
Well maintained parking lot with bathrooms, bike tools (including pump), and an automatic sunscreen dispenser. A good option to access greenbelt plateau trails, especially since parking is free
Gorgeous trailhead. Plenty of space to park and explore. Bring sunblock. There arent many trees to take shade.
This is close by to me and is very convenient for a quick training hike. It isnt super challenging from a terrain perspective, but it is 15+ miles around the loop, so its good for longer distance burdened hiking. You can see for miles around you most of the way and it is so nice. . . so nice.
Great access to extended trail system. Excellent for non technical route for runners and bikers! I was super impressed that this trailhead has bicycle repair stands, pump, and basic tools at the trailhead! Plus, ample parking space for popular location!
Nice starting point for rides, runs, and hikes. Very open area, so can get very hot in summer, but also dries relatively quickly too. From the Mesa you get a great view of the Flatiorns and Continental Divide.
The Meadowlark Trail is a nice gravel path that climbs gradually, with constant foothills views. No getting around the power lines, though.
Fantastic trailhead with majestic and stunning views. This location has dedicated restrooms that are in the parking lot as you pull in.
