Literally, a must-stop place for us and everyone from now on! The food is so awesome and the staff was the best! They were so nice, welcoming, and fast even though they were seated to capacity! Would recommend to everyone and I will definitely be coming back again and making this a regular place to dine!
Super breakfast.. worth the money!!
My husband and I had breakfast. Omelet, gravy, pancakes, sausage the whole 9 works. It was very good. WE LOVED IT!! Our waitress was knowledgeable and polite. We are happy that we took a chance to stop.
Great food, excellent service, old diner atmosphere.
Service was friendly and the restaurant seemed clean however the pancake was tough, chewy, and not warm. Bacon limp and greasy. Coffee was hot and refilled often. I would give it another try but order something else.
Of this place the food the service everything is amazing we have a favorite server Kaitlyn who has been our server for yrs. I might be biased but shes the BEST!!
Wonderful hometown establishment, food and service. Thank you.
Excellent food, excellent service and true country atmosphere.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. The food was so good and the staff was very friendly... UPDATE... went there again, this time got lunch, I got the catfish. . It was delicious, my boyfriend got a hot beef sandwich... his was great also. We will definitely be going back......
Good food kinda over priced for breakfest
Great service and fantastic breakfast.
Definitely get your moneys worth. Alot of great food for a great price.
Great breakfast menu, plenty to eat, friendly & attentive staff!
Food was great! Service was good. The portions are for a giant. Come hungry and you will have exceeded your goal by a long shot!
Always great food and friendly service.
Love it! Just what a local diner should be. Old -fashioned home-cookin just like mamma!
Met our son there for breakfast. Fantastic place to eat.
All of their menu items are fantastic. Portions are most generous. I especially enjoy their biscuits and sausage white gravy.
Great place we found while visiting in town for track, food was awesome!!
Best biscuits and gravy Ive had jn years that I didnt make.
Slow getting food, up to 20 or 30 minutes. Long wait lines, food is okay, i have had better, parking is horrible.
Wonderful diner, opens at 6am. They have great taste for old cars :and a various choices for omelettes, can’t wait mine arrives. 11/11
Food was good and holy cow was the portions huge !! But having to kill a cockroach on the wall near our table wasnt one of the most sanitary things
Delicious food and large portions. We waited about 10 min to get a table on a Sunday. It’s a small place which makes it noisy. My husband had the Rueben and onion rings. Both were delicious. I had biscuit with sausage gravy and one egg over medium. It was very good and the egg was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great diner w an expansive menu and large servings. Its a popular place locally, since the staff seemed to know half the patrons by name and the patrons didnt need menus. It is worth driving to from i35.
This place is the best breakfast around. Any of the messes will give you more food than you need. The kids always request CSD for their birthday breakfast.
This breakfast was amazing. We took the last available table but they work fast and efficient. Husband and I both agreed it was the best bacon we had ever had. Cooked perfectly.
Amazing food and service 😁cant wait to return 🤩 very cheap as well🤑
Fantastic dinner food! Breakfast all day, sandwiches, salads, hamburgers, in quantity! You will need a to go box most likely, salad was chopped so well you dont need to cut it to eat it, everything was good, something for everyone i.e.; Children, seniors. Teens, dates, family. Prices are reasonable, they will start a waitlist when they are full, staff is prompt & friendly. Will go again when we can! Tip your servers well! Enjoy the homestyle cooking!
I love the vibe and atmosphere of this place. As an international student, I loved trying the experience of dining in a local diner.Their service is fast and they are willing to change the dish according to your diet.I love their Pancakes, fluffy and soft.I recommend trying the farmer’s breakfast.I didnt enjoy the strawberry shortcake, but they were nice about it.
1st visit. Food was fantastic. Staff was super super friendly and the other customers went out of their way to say hello when passing. Awesome experience.
This place is amazing the food is delicious and well serve plates this is a must Stop place to get some food the service was on point, will be back soon.
Lets be real here. Its never bad. The service is great, Janet always makes sure to welcome you personally and make you feel at home, and the food practically flies out the window and to your table.
A wonderful gem of a diner, right in the heart of Emporia! Come hungry and order biscuits and gravy as a sure winner! Portions are large, but what is much appreciated is the ability to downsize the portions on most of the more popular breakfast items. Well be back for lunch, sometime very soon!
Another great small town restaurant. Food was terrific, service was awesome. Real ham, not processed stuff
Great food and portions for the money! It is not that large inside so come knowing that you will have to wait to get seated. Another option that seems to work great is to call in and pickup your order. Owner needs to update as it looks a little run down for as much money that seems to come into the place.
The wait was expected because of social distancing but it was worth the wait. GOOD COUNTRY FLAVOR!
Great breakfast & huge portions! Wonderful homemade breads of all kinds. Try something different, youll probably love it. Friendly staff adds to the positive atmosphere in this lovely hometown spot.
I was in town Thursday/Friday to help a friend move and we had breakfast here Friday morning.Staff was great, I had a blueberry pancake (pictured below), which was huge and a half order of biscuits and gravy with hash browns.I wish I could say I finished it all, but not quite. I would definitely recommend Commercial Street if you’re passing through town!
Group of 7. Great service. They wanted us to be there. This is the type of food grandma cooked. Biscuits and gravy are the best I have ever had! Loved the sausage plate for breakfast. Parking on the street and the place was busy. I like it a lot. We’ll be back
Amazing breakfast - love the biscuits and gravy!
Huge portions and was so good!!!
Great food, quick service! Good portions! My Chicken Fried Steak and sides... $11,99
Great home cooking. The food is made fresh. Serves good sized portions. We especially like the sausage rich biscuits and gravy. Seating is limited, but food is served quickly and come hot. Staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful. Saw a plate with the homemade french fries go by that made me want to change my order... a huge portion. Cant wait to come back and try the burger and fries. Yum!
I visited this over a month ago while traveling to other states. I decided to stop by there after seeing good reviews about it and made a good choice I guess. There are two doors and if you are pike us and parked your car at back side which is basically parking lot. After parking our car we were confused about entering from the back door. But the door was welcoming us saying a nice message that “Back door client are the best” . So it made us to enter there without any hesitation and it was hot outside so we didn’t had to walk along the road. This restaurant is quite rural looking you will have “country roads take me home” kinda feeling. I loved it. And yes serving size was quite good. I took breakfast which had poached egg and pancakes. Size of pancake was generous and there were 2 poached eggs. I was asked about what I prefer like well done, medium or soft. I preferred medium and was really liked that I was given options not just served some eggs which is not consistent to my tastes. Medium poached egg was right for me and it’s look and tastes was good. He ordered Farmer’s breakfast and food was plenty and tastes good too.Don’t hesitate to give thumbs up 👍 if you find this review helpful.
Let me start with...breakfast just doesnt get any better than this. Ive patronized the Commercial Street Diner for several years now (each time I visit family in Emporia, KS), and though breakfast is the only meal Ive tried there, I can certainly attest to how great it is!The Commercial Street Diner lives up to its name in so many ways. If you can picture an old-fashioned store front on the main business street of a very old, yet still thriving Kansas college town of 25K...that is exactly what this is. There is very little new about this restaurant, or building. Commercial Street is only about eight or nine blocks long in the downtown part and youll easily find this restaurant by the many cars parked on both sides of the street. Yes, its that busy...because its that good!In the times Ive eaten here Ive had many different items for breakfast here, but their sausage gravy is undoubtedly the best I have ever tasted....EVER...anywhere! Everything thing Ive ever eaten here for breakfast is good, but their sausage gravy is to die for. Oh...you might want to order some of their amazing hash browns as well...the gravy goes as good with them as their biscuits, and youll have plenty of gravy for both!If you have never tried the Commercial Street Diner, please do so...youll be happy you did. If youre worried about your weight or cholesterol, you might want to reconsider. Otherwise, its the best breakfast youll ever eat.
I was visiting my cousin today and she recommended Commercial Street Diner. I had the Barnyard Cheeseburger, which has bacon and a fried egg on it. There is quite of “down home” styled food on the menu.Service was great, she was very attentive. Food was amazing. We came in the front door but it looks like you can come in thru the back door as well, so there must be parking there as well. Both front and back door are handicap accessible. Will definitely return the next time I’m in town
Great family-style diner but is much more. The ambience is post-retro with a touch of country, service is over-the-top outstanding and the food, well I don’t really know the words to do it justice - Amazing is a start. We were there on a hectic day, crowded with out-of-town tournament folks so I can’t speak to an “average” day on Commercial, but from the teamwork and collaboration I saw pointed to lots of practice - the kind that leads to perfection. The cooks like to pile up the food portions, to the surprise and delight of hungry customers. Seasonings were better than your mom would for company. All round, I can only leave five stars but would happily go off-scale for this outstanding eatery!
Ever find a place that EVERYONE recommends? This is it! From the desk clerk at check out to folks on the street to the cashier at the fill-up stop, it was universally recommended. With good reason. The place was packed from a tournament in town but normal turns quickly opened a booth for us. Waitstaff was efficient and on task, despite being on the run for our entire visit.Food is above rating. Typical diner breakfast offerings are turned into big plates loaded with delicious food and great presentation.Don’t miss it.
Absolutely delicious food! Got the breakfast special; 2 eggs, massive hash browns extra crispy, biscuits and sausage gravy and juice all for $7.50! This is now my favorite breakfast/lunch spot! Closed at 2pm and seat yourself. Friendly service and clean restaurant.
