If you go at peak color times expect a wait 45 min. + to go up. Totally worth it, make yourself go to the top.
Very cool experience a must do!!! Make sure to take elevator or climb if ambtious up the 800ft ski ramp. The view is AMAZING!!!!
Theres a lot of history in this place.. Beautiful spot to look out and check the changing colors of fall. Cute little gift shop. If youre not afraid of heights definitely do it.
Loved it. If youre ever in U.P. of Michigan go see it
We took our dogs to the bay past the ski jump. We hiked and walked the beautiful beach of Lake Superior. We encountered great people who were also enthralled with our surroundings!
Great family experience. The views of Wisconsin, Michigan and Lake Superior were beautiful. Cant wait to do it again in the fall to see all the spectacular colors.
Very cool scenery once you reach the highest point of those stairs. Definitely a little scary at the top but worth the experience!
Very fun trip up the hill on the ski lift (there is a partial bar that is pulled down like a regular ski life chair, so its not completely open. Good to know when planning to go with kids! The lookout near the top was well maintained and safe and the elevator was quick and smooth.
We enjoy lots of the falls. Really enjoyed the beach on Lake Superior!
Very great staff, open to conversations and sharing stories about the place too! Getting to the top takes a lot of courage, just don’t look down until you get there!
Awesome stop on our bike ride. Well stop out this year to see them flying off the jump.
Highly recommend coming to Copper Peak! We walked instead of taking the elevator and enjoyed it!
Worth every penny. I hope they reopen and bring more money to the area. I cant wait to see the view from the top in the fall.
Ittle pricey but worth supporting a local business. We did get a discount that day due to elevator issues. We did go on a day the elevator was not in service so we walked the steps. The steps would not be doable for people with orthopedic issues. That being said it actually made the experience more spectacular.
Great views even though the evaluator was broke to go to the top. Climbing up is worth the views.
Such a great way to see multiple mountains at once in the U.P.! Take a chairlift, to an elevator, then some stairs, and you get an amazing panoramic view. The staff are also very friendly! (Also, make sure to check out the stars there at night!)
This was a fun place with great views. However if you are afraid of heights I do not recommend going here.
Breath taking!! Gotta go all the way to the top!
We hiked rather than take the lift.Beautiful scenery, nice hike. The climb was remarkably shallow for how high we went.
The staff are absolutely wonderful. Very upbeat, knowledgeable, friendly and made it a wonderful experience.
Incredibly insane. My father-in-law and I took the elevator up and then took the steps to the top. It was as I said incredible. Not for the faint of heart, but worth the incredible view.
Beautiful view. The top shakes in the wind is so exciting.
Great place to visit with your family and a great view! Wish we would have brought mountain bikes for the bike trail! Next time I guess!
If you like going to tall places and looking over Michigans upper peninsula, this is the place for you. A ride in a ski lift up the mountain takes you to the base of the ski jump, and then an elevator ride takes you 2/3 of the way to the top of the structure. If you want to go all the way to the top, there are stairs to get you there. The main viewing platform is surrounded by chain link fence, which I was extremely grateful for. Its quite a view, and absolutely worth it. $25 per adult for the ride...which does seem a bit much, but the view is priceless. Lots of history to be learned here and so much to see. Ask the guy in the elevator to tell you a joke...hes a hoot.
The people were super nice. Its awesome to be up there for the views.... no way would ever "send it"!
We showed up right as the gift shop was closing. They let me in and got me a few bottles of water for our dogs, which was so kind of them to do! We didnt want to do the ride to the top, we just wanted to check the area out, and they told us we were more then welcome to do so. You can take a ride to the top of the jump during their open hours and get some really cool views of the fall colors and the area around here! One of these days I might have to do it. . .
I recommend taking the hike up as well if youre able too. Falls the best time to go!:-)
Best place to see fall colors from height. Chair lifts take you to elevator and then you go to top of of view tower for 360 degree view of Michigan, Wisconsin. Fall colors, Lake superior. Recommend activity for the falls
I cannot say enough how incredible this view was. Just going up the ski jump alone was an adventure. It definitely gives perspective on ski jumping. You take a quick ride up a ski lift, then a short walk to the bottom of the ski jump. Take the elevator 18 stories up and you exit to a room that opens up to a fenced in platform-thats where my pics are from. You can then take 8 flights of stairs up the ski ramp to the very top.
Amazing view of the fall colors from the top of the ski jump. The elevator was out when we were there and walked up the jump which was a fun challenge but worth the view!
One of the best views you will ever experience, particularly during the autum colors. Looking north across the Black River Valley you will see the old river meandering its way to Lake Superior to add its contents to one of the largest freshwater sources in the world. On clear days you can see all the way across Lake Superior and see our Canadian neighbors. Absoutley worth taking the ride to the top and having a look around!
We took a recommendation to visit here. It was very interesting about the old ski jumping/flying days. The structure is to large for the type of ski jumping done today. Today was one of the nicest day with a temp of 80 degrees for the end of September. Very unusual. The tree colors ar now at peak. Unbelievable the color. We rode the ski lift up to the base od the jump. Then up the elevator to the observation deck. You can also walk up the stairs 8 flights to the very top. The best views and you can see Lake Superior 5 miles away. We also walked the whole way down the ramp. You can take the elevator back to the ski lift.
Very beautiful place. Would love to see the ski flying!
Take the hike if you do not want to take the skylift up. Hike is not hard and nicely marked. Would love to see this hill operational again!!
Well worth visiting! What a view! When you get to the top it is a bit unsettling and hard to believe how high off the ground you are. No regrets!
Good place to hike and mountain bike.Terrific views of surrounding mountains and Lake Superior from the top.
Not for the faint of heart on windy days. The entire structure sways approx 12” at the top in the wind. Amazing views and very cool piece of history.
Very cool spot, with nice hiking trails around. Be sure to keep an eye on the Facebook page before you go, as the last time I was there the lift was closed due to intermittent rain. You cant get to the top then, but you can still hike to the bottom of the jump.
Beautiful sites everywhere you look, a must do in September/October for the leaves. Ski lift brings you to the top.
So cool and totally worth the $20. Always wanted to check this place out after viewing it from the ski hills around the area for 20 years. Amazing that people will actually launch off this ski jump. Views are exceptional during the fall months.
Copper.peak ski jump was an amazing experience. 800 foot chair lift ride. 18 story elevator ride. Walking up the wooden steps alongside the jump. It was windy, the view was unbelievable.
Was an amazing experience. A great view at the top and just beautiful country and lake views. The walk down was really exciting because it was so steep. Higy recommend
Great experience! Fairly priced and very friendly staff. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their job and gave clear instructions about loading onto the ski-lift (which was greatly appreciated because I was a bit nervous about it). The ski-lift ride was enjoyable by itself, but it is definitely worth the trek all of the way to the top for the incredible views. There is an elevator if you wish to use it, but I recommend hiking up because you feel much more accomplished when you finally reach the top and the hard work makes the view even more spectacular! The employee at the visitor center was very nice and willing to help us plan the rest of our day visiting local waterfalls etc which was appreciated because we did not know the area well and needed the recommendations. If you are looking for activities to do after your visit to Copper Peak, down the same road there are 5 different waterfalls you can visit - all of which were reasonably accessible for novice hikers.
Very cool place to checkout if you are in the Porcupine mountains area. A little off the beaten path but worth it. Also if you drive past it and turn around where the roads meet again makes for a good picture. You can also see this from the Lake of the Clouds lookout 20 miles away
Great view all around. Nice hike too, though very steep so you need to be in decent shape.
I had to drive a few hours to get here from where I was camping. It was well worth the drive because the view is amazing once you get to the top. The ski lift ride is about 5 minutes and is pretty cool if you have never been on one before.
Really cool. Fun ride up the hill. Amazing view from the top! You can walk down 100+ stairs or take the elevator up/down. Well worth the trip.
When I first read about this spot when scoping out the area I saw a lot of mixed reviews about Copper Peak and was hesitant to lock this into our lineup. Both my partner and I were extremely happy that we decided to do this. It was a great way to see the beautiful landscape. All the folks working here were awesome as well.
This is definitely a five star place! It is the only ski flying facility in the Western Hemisphere. Height: 469 feet (143 m– I climbed to the top and it was pretty nerve wracking as it’s so high and windy there 😬 It moves up to 18 inches (46 cmon a windy day. You’ve got to have steel balls to do ski flying! Check out the “Sammy C project” on YouTube... Amazing. Copper Peak was built in 1970 and was closed in 1994 and has a K-point of 145. The staff was super nice. Big thanks to Sheri who let me to the top of the trampoline despite me coming late. For a ski jumping / flying fan like me it meant a lot. Unforgettable experience.
This place is amazing and scary as hell. Little disappointed since i was the only one of the three of us that went all the way to the top. Make sure, before you pay, that your friends wont freak out half way up. The stairs on the jump outside the elevator are rickety and the rest are open grates. You can see straight down. It sways at the top and is crazy windy. The worst part is the chairlift ride down. Its a great view but it feels like youre going down almost vertically. The whole experience is unnerving but glad i did it!
