I was very nervous walking through the door for the first time. I had long curly hair I denied for years and always straightened it But thanks to Tammy I have a brand new confidence in my short styled curly hair!! She did an amazing job and i absolutely love it. Will definitely be returning!!

I have been going to Missy at Cost Cutters for over 20 years! I have NEVER had a bad experience! It is ALWAYS a blast!! Missy has become a very good friend! I recently totally changed the color of my hair. I went from a dark auburn to purple. She made me feel phenomenal. She did a beautiful job. Oh, and getting my hair washed three times was simply AMAZING!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING TO COST CUTTERS!!!

Great haircut at a affordable price the ladys here really understand what you want and make sure you get it. I will be coming again.

I am extremely sensitive to many things so when I go to a haircsalon its scary and tough. The young lady who did my hair not only gave me a great cut she was also extremely careful.not to do anything to make me react

Emily cut my hair and took a before photo and didn’t take an after photo because she was not happy with her work. (Also this hair cut was a painful hour and a halfI asked for a pixie cut (had a photoand I went home with a very weird haircut I was not happy with. Although I still was nice and tipped her $10. I called back and explained I was not happy, a manager was supposed to call me back and re-do my hair the correct way, as Emily was not a professional hair cutter she’s new, no one bothered to call me. So the experience was very unprofessional in general. I would not recommend. I did however go to the mall and get my hair correct at JC Pennys for the same price where all the ladies are professional and give you exactly what you ask for!

Always ask for Mary M and she does just what I need. Although, I watch the other girls and they all do a great job too.

Best place ever! Kerry (store managerhas been my stylist for 20+ years! She is amazing as well as her staff! I always get compliments on my color & cut! My family & I won’t go anywhere else but Cost Cutters in Altoona!

Kerry asked how I wanted my hair cut and styled and listened! My hair is thin and so she took the time to texture and add body. The end result was exactly what I wanted. Thank you!

Ladies are so great with kiddos.. They dont treat them any different. Ask them their opinion first then mine. I love that!!

Always a great place to feel better when I leave vs when I arrive! Missy is professional and has a great sense of humor. They all work well together and seem more like friends than coworkers.

I like my hair cut but felt like I was being shamed because I had my hair done at a holiday hair before. I didn’t appreciate that I was there then using their service. It shouldn’t matter where I went before.

Carrie is awesome! She was able to squeeze us in and take care of us. She is always so good with my kids and has a smile on her face. I rarely have a bad experience at Cost Cutters Altoona! Thank you!

This is also a fun place, the stylists are so friendly and like to joke around with each other and customers. They make me feel like Im one of the gang 😊

I havent been there in a while, I got a really nice girl named Tammy & she did a great job on my hair & she was very friendly too!

My hair stylist is Beth here @ Cost Cutters. Beth is awesome!!! I get my bangs trimmed with a razor to get textured look. She is very skilled!! Ive been going to her for 17yrs + !! I had tried others many yrs prior, every one of the others would end up taking chunks of hair out trying to razor my bangs, Beth is the only one skilled enough that doesnt!! I would travel out of state to get my hair done if she ever moved!! She does an awesome job with colors, mens hair cuts, everything!! She is very sweet, great personality also!!

I have been receiving services at Cost Cutters for over 20 years. I have always been treated with respect and kindness. I now take my own children there and completely trust my stylist. She is always willing to listen, try new things, and makes me feel valued. I highly recommend Cost Cutters.

I called, they took walk-ins👍🏻 I got there, place was clean👍🏻 not busy👍🏻 welcoming👍🏻 quick to get me situated👍🏻 friendly👍🏻 I would say the lady was the approximately right amount of talkative, sociable enough but left comfortable pauses in conversing👍🏻 she knew how to cut hair with a razoring technique that left it styled👍🏻 in an efficient amount of time👍🏻 However I am a particular person and although I walked away with a style and lengths I could handle, I took several pictures with me of a bit longer a cut & style I did Not end up with..👎🏻 So, all things considered. Now if hair didnt grow back.. Id have had a problem 😅

Jackie has been exclusively doing my hair for about 2 years or so. I was looking for someone I really connected with and knew exactly what I wanted! I’m so happy to have found her! She’s done coloring, perms, waxing, blowouts, etc & I’m always pleased! Her unique personality & her overall experience has me looking forward to each visit! My natural texture has always been wavy/curly and with Covid closings, my hair took on a mind of its own and got much longer and straighter. Jackie was able to fit me in and help me get back on track with my occasional crazy hair! She is truly an asset to the company!

Missy H is the ONLY Costcutters stylist who I trust to color my hair. She has the process “down to a science” and she spends ample time with me. Missy brings a sincere enthusiasm and a genuine work ethic to her position and she does a great job of listening to all of her customers. I feel that she is tremendous role model for other operators at Costcutters. If you need an adept stylist, I recommend Missy H without hesitation.Missy Harker, in my humble opinion, is “all that and a bag of chips!” She is, above all, hard working and customer friendly. Missy is super adept in hair coloring/styling and is always in a good mood.I would highly recommend Missy without hesitation to any person needing his hair cut, trimmed, colored, or even braided.

My 7 year old daughter first professional hair cut, didnt offer to shampoo, no layers where cut into her hair and I had to cut a few pieces that were missed when we got home. Not to mention for a kid cut it cost $16.50. no style or shampoo..... Thats crazy for a kid cut. Never will I go back. Not to mention our stylists hair was a hot mess. How am I suppose to trust you if you cant even take care of your own hair. We have 3 girls in our home and they just lost our business

These ladies are the best. My girl Tammy always does a great job, and tells me if a cut is going to look good or not.

I understand first come first serve. But when I bring my 18 month old in for a very simple bang trim that takes less then 5 minutes, I dont feel it was right to make us wait over 45 minutes to take the colors and perms ahead of us. I wont be back.

A great place to go to get your hair done. I have been going here for years & all the girls there are great! They always take good care of me & get me in for services when I need too. Prices are reasonable & wait time is very shortI would highly recommend to anyone.

The girl I had was very nice. And fixed my hair from my last hair cut. All the girls where friendly.

I had medium hair today as a guy and I asked for a trim. Unfortunately I have glasses and after asking to just have a trim and keep most of the length the stylist prefaced it with "dont cry afterwards" then proceeded to butcher my hair. I simply wanted a trim and now I have short hair and I dont even want to go out looking like this in public. I tried styling it, getting other people to style it and so far my friends and family think it looks choppy and bad. I have been here before but my usual stylist wasnt there and I assumed everything would still be fine. Ive just contacted someone else to personally help me because I dont even think I can show myself in public like this.

I first visited here yesterday with my daughter and we got our eyebrows done. Tammy took us right away and we were both done in fifteen minutes and she did an excellent job. That being said we both returned today as walk ins and got serviced right away. Tammy did my daughters hair while my hair was being colored and foiled so we both came out being done at the same time. She corrected my daughters haircut and she used the blonde in my hair to make it the highlights and colored the rest to give me a warm brown. Trim and style and my hair looks the best it has looked in a long time! Thanks Tammy you are awesome and all your co workers are great too all very friendly and professional staff!!

Tammy at Cost Cutters cut my hair. She did an amazing job. It was just how I wanted, and not too short!

Staff is always friendly and upbeat. Ive had a few different girls wash, cut, and style my hair, and have never had an issue with any of them completing the task unsatisfactorily....and I can be picky and untrusting when it comes to getting my hair cut. I have relocated 200 miles away, and make it a point to continue with this salon when I am in town and time permits because of their outstanding customer service and trust!

Very clean, very much geared to professionalism and customer satisfaction and caters to the expressed needs of the customer. I called 5 minutes before they were closing and waited for me to get a much needed haircut. Would recommend to everyone.

I don’t understand why I see other reviews of excellent service regarding hair coloring and I see same stylist did a great job on other pictures I see posted. Took many times to even get a right color/highlights on my hair I’ve never experienced that before getting my hair done. Stylist was such a nice person and did all she could to make it right but I felt bad not being happy but there just wasn’t any result. She tried to make it right and the last attempt it was okay and I saw a result. Just not what I expected spending over $150.00 that’s all. Not going to mention any stylist names but been thinking about this and it has had me upset since.

It was a good 10 months since my last cut. My hair had terrible dead ends. Maci took 5 inches off my hairs and layered it. She recommended a curl cream. My hairs look and feel great!! Thank you!!

Me and my wife went there and we both got our hair done. She got a color, cut and style and I got my hair cut. They give a "Hero" discount since Im a Veteran and we were both very satisfied with the place. Thanks and Ill be a returning customer.:)

Kerry and Shauna style me and have for many years. My hair always garners compliments and they’ve helped me fix my own DIY debacles too. They’re my go-to place for all things hair. The products there cost less than many other stores too. They’re a great bunch. I highly recommend them.

I had such an amazing experience here tonight! My hair looks awesome and my hair stylist was AMAZING! 🤗 Her last name was Feight. I didnt get her first name. She was so sweet and I will 100%be coming in on Mondays to see her!

My Granddaughter came here today for highlights mostly to cover her roots. She came home in tears because of the horrible job this Stylist did! The Stylist didnt even touch the roots. The color was brassy and uneven. Her hair was like straw and is still falling out in clumps! Ive been to stylist for highlights and my hair always feels amazing! Not hers!! The Stylist didnt even wash the bleach out. When we brushed it the bleach was falling out in the sink! Then she was charged $128 for this mess!! Save your money and go somewhere else!

i went to get a full head of highlights. the roots weren’t even touched and where the roots ended it was blotchy and orange. not to mention she made me hair fall out in balls. balls of hair. my hair was soft and now it feels dead and dry. never will i go back there.

This store had exceptional customer service. The employees of Cost Cutters, Altoona PA gave my big family very nice haircuts at an understandable price.

Walked in Friday after months. Needed haircuts for both sons, husband and myself. They were able to accommodate us for the following evening. We were taken 2 at a time and were done within 45 minutes. Hairdressers are always sweet and listen to what we want. Reasonable prices and fast service. Love going there. Would definitely reccomend.

I see Kerry every 8 weeks. Ive been going to her since December 2010! She took me from an ashy brown to a beautiful red head. When that maintenance was too much for me, she helped me transition to a beautiful brunette with red undertones. I always trust her with foils, cuts, colors, and especially.. bangs! I dont trust anyone else to color or cut. I highly recommend Cost Cutters. The service and price are unbeatable!

Love my stylist Kerry!!!!! She is amazing! I have been going to Kerry for years now and wouldnt go anywhere else. When I lived in Chambersburg for a period of time I still drove back to Altoona for my hair appointments because I only trust Kerry with my hair. She knows her stuff and I trust her completely... Wonderful salon.

While i love my stylist and the work she does, the manager is another story. She will make the stylist answer the phone and leave their clients, but she never will! Why is her clients more important?!?! She dresses like a floozy in EXTREMELY SHORT dresses and skirts. My husband commented that he could see more than he wanted to while she was on a ladder! Who gets on a ladder in clothes like that? The way she talks to the stylist is very unprofessional. They’re making you your bonuses!

Took my son for his first Haircut and he screamed the whole time. The woman doing his hair never got flustered. And my sons hair looks amazing!!!

Great. Did a fantastic job. Very pleased. We had a wait but its very busy with back to school coming soon. Stylist did both my daughters haircuts and really impressed me.

I would give zero stars if I could. I dont know the name of the stylist but the entire cut lasted less than 90 seconds !!! It was so bad it was funny. There was just random chunks taken out of my hair. It looked like a 4 yr old that cut their own hair. I immediately went to Mastercuts to have it fixed, and they were in disbelief at how bad my hair looked. She thought I was messing with her because it was so ridiculous. We were literally laughing about the whole thing. Thanks to Mastercuts for at least salvaging what they could. I thought I was going to have to shave my head.

Every time I visit the salon, I cannot express how amazing my experience is with the entire staff! Many salons can have clicks and less than familial, cohesive teams to take care of clients—NOT THE SITUATION AT COST CUTTERS!!! The team, and they are a cohesive, strong, #TogetherIsBetter team! Each professional stylist has strengths that the full salon is balanced. They take care of you from beginning to end! Repeat customers is an understatement. This salon has a clientele that is faithful, including myself. The salon may be a national chain...it is operated a small business with customers first! I can not recommend them enough! ❤️

I would give this 0 stars if it was possible. Jackie is the worst. All I wanted was trimmed and my face framed...which should have been slithered and blended but instead it was chopped and looked like a child did it. Ive never got a h/c so bad that I complained. Now my long hair is hideous. The manager tried to fix it but it was way too messed up to really make it how I wanted it without cutting 4 to 6 more inches off! I will never ever go there again. If anyone goes there and you get Jackie run! She took less than 5 minutes to screw it up and the manager spent 25 minutes trying to fix it...she tried but you cant fix this mess.

They are excellent!!! Very professional hairdressers with reasonable prices... My sister-in-law and I were both very pleased with our haircut and coloring... They were very friendly...They listened carefully to the results that we expected and they achieved it...Our cosmetologists were Kristen and Jamie but all the cosmetologists did an excellent service...as we watched them all as they did other haircuts on children and men... Highly recommended!!!! This is definitely a 5 star salon!!!!
