Surprised that he answered the phone and patiently listened to my pleas for help,Advice: Nick offered great advice, set my expectations + (most importantlycreated space in his busy day to address my issue (failed charging port).Solution: He advised me to save the money I would pay him to repair the port, backup the data to an external hard drive, + invest in a quality new machine. Not the solution I was expecting; however, it was the best one considering the laptops age (7 years old).Nuisance: To our dismay, I had more data than I realized. The commitment took longer than planned. I had overdue homework to grade. Ive been having issues with my laptop keyboard. First the "x" key stopped working. I can work around that. But in the last week, the "r" key started having issues. I use that key a LOT more! Called Nick to see what he might be able to do. He confirmed what another friend had said - this would be a VERY costly repair due to the construction of the laptop, and he suggested I purchase a USB keyboard replacement. So so so nice and helpful. Could have told me just to get my computer fixed and taken my money but instead talked me through what the repair would entail and encouraged me to get another laptop for the time being because the repair would have cost a lot and would have taken a long time. Was still willing to do the repair job if I wanted it, but didnt pressure me or try to talk me into doing something that would cost a ton. I will for sure be calling back if something else breaks.

I didnt make an appointment because my computers issues are more trouble to repair than theyre worth, instead he gave me advice on how i could cheap and easily fix the issue with a new keyboard, didnt make any money from it but he was very helpful. Least I can do is say that he cares about helping people with computers and is good at it. Modern computers are built to fail.

After calling around several repair shops that couldnt be bothered, Covey Computer answered my question and was very helpful.

I called Covey Computers after trying several things to troubleshoot a Lenovo laptop that was not charging correctly. Nick took the time to hear what I had checked and offer a couple suggestions all while he was upfront that the issue was likely with the motherboard and not worth a repair (therefore not a service he would make money on.I will definitely be giving him a call and use his services in the future if this interaction is an example of his trustworthiness and expertise.

Its worrisome to leave ones computer with a stranger for so many reasons, but I felt confident that Nick would focus on the issues that were causing my problems, rather than on my personal files. Due to circumstances beyond Nicks control, my laptops issue proved more trouble/cost than was worthwhile.After he broke the news I was expecting him to only say "okay thanks for your business, sorry it couldnt get fixed," but instead he went above and beyond to provide knowledgeable advice on my next steps, and in his own words, what he would do if it were his own device. As he discussed his recommendations, I clearly remember thinking up several follow-up questions which were then answered before I even had the chance to ask.Frankly, I was unsure what to expect when I noticed his business address was residential, but in hindsight the service/care Nick provided was more than I would have received from a dedicated commercial store. I am fairly confident that his diligence saved me from several annoying hours of self-research and phone calls to my manufacturer, to put it mildly.COVID note - Quick and easy contactless drop off/pick-up, also was serious about mask use which was welcomed/appreciated.

Summary: Nick is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, helpful, honest, practical and responsive Detail: I have had an issue with a Lenovo Yoga for months. It is referred to as a "ghost touch" where the touch screen thinks a screen touch has been made when it has not. It then brings a selection menu up that inhibits cursor and keyboard use. It happens frequently and is maddening. I cruised the web and found many references about drivers, settings and the like and exhausted what I thought I could do myself. I sent an email last night and made a phone call this morning to Nick at Covey Computer Service. I was hoping he would take the bottom cover off and look for dust and re-seat the cable between the display and system board. Nick called me back today and we knew in the first 3 minutes he did not think it was likely a cable issue and did not think it was in my best financial interest for him to spend hours of labor time debugging a 3 year old machine. Then he spent another 35 minutes talking through the problem, suggesting possibilities I could take and suggested it may be due to temperature induced glitches rather than a physical cable issue. He recommended a $30 laptop cooling fan tray. I was skeptical but bought one after the call and have run for 6 hours without a recurrence. Even though he knew quickly it was not going to be a service call, he cared about the issue and me and spent the time to help me. He also helped me by suggesting potential replacements models should the cooling fan not help and I should need to replace the current laptop. He charged me nothing for his time. Simply, he is a man who enjoys what he does and is genuinely interested in helping others. He exceeded my expectations by far. I am impressed by his knowledge, his enthusiasm and his style.

I took my Lenovo Ideapad to Nick for a screen replacement. I had already bought the replacement screen myself, but Nick could’ve done that for me had I not known how to. He was able to do the job really quickly and had me back up and running in no time. His rates are very reasonable as well. I will call on him next time anything goes wrong!

I had dropped a screw into my laptop and Nick helped recover the scew which took a total diassembly of my computer. It was pleasure to work with Nick; his courteous personality, personal touch and his depth of experience and knowledge impressed me. Nick is an absolutely fantastic man who made the rough horror of my computer dying on me so much less painful. He picked up late and got me an appointment the next day, was very polite, kind, and upfront about the process and price. Found Nick at Covey Computer Service & Repair on the internet and took a chance to call him about laptop repair. Despite being under deadlines, he spent 15 minutes with me to discuss the feasibility of repairing a laptop that wont power on. He was very professional and honest about what it would take to diagnose the problem and then fix it. Ive decided to not repair the laptop for now based on my conversation with him. But I will certainly contact him in the future should I need another laptop repaired.

Nick fixed my laptop overheating issue. He was extremely thorough during the diagnosis stage, and made sure to keep me in the loop with what was going on with my machine while it was being fixed. He had to order new parts, and made sure I understood the need for the part and the pricing. An unrelated operating system issue occurred while in his care, and Nick took full responsibility for getting it right, even though he did not cause it. I am extremely satisfied with the level of service and at Nicks attention to detail.

Theres a lot that I could say about our experience with Nick, but the short version is: he deserves the 5-star rating.He was very accommodating when scheduling our initial appointment (4PM on Saturday afternoon), His prices are clearly laid out on his website, hes very knowledgeable about computer hardware and software, and hes very communicative about the actions he will take with your PC. Its clear that takes pride in his work and does the best he can. Dont worry about pricing; he is very reasonable.As far as scheduling goes, Nick had our computer from Saturday 10/11 through Monday 10/20. Granted, ours was a special case which required some extra effort on his part - so I expect his normal turnaround time is a few days at most.If you have any kind of computer issue, call Nick and let him work his magic. So happy I found Nick last March and for his excellent advice in purchasing a new computer system. He did a marvelous job of setting it up for me plus held my hand on the telephone at no extra charge until I got used to the system.Two or three months later he came immediately to remove a virus on our system. He looked up the warranty status without charge and saved me a great deal of money by sharing that my printer was still under warranty.
