Decided to try this place out to get some all you can eat crabs. I called earlier in the day to make sure they were open etc (you know how the off season goesWe waited about 40 minutes for a seat and a little long for our waiter to show up. We ordered drinks and the crabs. The waiter comes back and tells us they dont have any available. I ask for the manager who says the same thing. Both apologize but no accommodations are made (maybe something like we could give you a discount if you want to order by the dozen instead etc). I suggest that we could have been informed before we waited 40 minutes for a seat and the manager says he didnt know they were out. In my opinion, the manager of a crab place should be aware of the availability of crabs. He then says they are having a sale and thats why they ran out. To me, that makes it even worse, 1st you have a sale and arent able to ensure you have enough product and second, knowing the crabs may sell faster you dont bother to keep a close eye on the inventory. Thankfully we were able to go 2 blocks away, had no wait, excellent service (including the manager stopping by the table twice to make sure things were going goodand enjoyed our crabs.
We were down there for my bachelor party and went here the first night. The food was great and the beer was the same. Snow crab legs were some of the best Ive had in years. The corn did not look too appetizing, but to our surprise, was some of the best corn we have had. Definitely recommened this place. The price for all this was not terrible. I had the snow crab pot and 3 beers. With tip, it came to right around 60-65 for me.
My favorite dinner of my stay in OC, MD!! Real laid back atmosphere. (Picnic tables with paper over the tablecloths). My waitress was friendly & very attentive! My food & drink were so delicious that I said, "mmmmm" after every bite!! (potatoes were so-so but that made it easier to ignore them 😊.)
1000000x YES!!!! I’ve loved seafood since I was a baby, my whole family is from southern FL so we know what good seafood tastes like. THIS PLACE IS PERFECT. I had the snow crab, blue crab, and shrimp… they know exactly how to season properly 😍 I would come here once a week if I lived nearby.
We ordered the fried seafood platter includes rock fish, crab cake and shrimp. My husband ordered the scallops...the breading was nice and light with perfect seasoning, everything was delicious we came back to order before we left from our vacation. We will definitely be back!
We had a terrible experience at The Crab Bag tonight. We have patronized this establishment for years. We all came in tonight expecting the same quality dinner and it was just sooo bad. Steamed Shrimp appetizer was translucent and visibly under cooked. Six crab pots came out and more undercooked shrimp. Some of our party had raw potatoes and some had mushy potatoes. We politely told the server (who was excellent btw), and he brought out new crab legs. This time crabs legs were frozen.. we had the server and manager feel them. The manager was the biggest issue and the reason we are posting this. We asked to speak to the manager. He originally said he would be willing to take off half the uneaten pots and brought a bill.. it was almost 250.00 and literally no one could eat their meals. We asked for the manager to come back again and this time he was combative and insulting. He eventually ended up adjusting the bill again, then came over, slammed the bill down and said “have a great night” sarcastically. We ended up tipping the server on what the full bill would be, plus, but we will NEVER go back again. Price of food is too much to receive raw food and be treated like that by a manager when we remained calm the entire time. Too many other decent establishments in the area.
They have the best crab cake but that is it. My crew had almost everything on the menu, I had delicious crab cake and salty soft shell crabs . Everybody brought everything back to crab bag for their money back but me. I threw the $40.00 soft shell crab out because I wouldnt there until 5 days later
Experience Matters!I visited this restaurant based on the Google reviews. Im glad I did.I got the shrimp/crab bag. The contents were hot, yet the bag was light on seasoning. The shrimp were savory, but the potatoes were undercooked. The cornbread that you see in the picture was succulent and Im not even a cornbread fan. I loved it!On Caitlyn "Cat" (Server- If there was a picture for Excellence in Customer Service, shed be the poster child. The Crab Bag is great for All You Can Eat crab and lots of other delicious morsels! Their wings are good and the crab dip is delish!
Very disappointing. Half the menu wasnt available. Everything was over seasoned with Old Bay including all vegetables. Food for the table arrived about 30 minutes apart (from first dish to last). Will not be going back any time soon. Far from cheap as well.
We had the conch fritters to start, and they were crispy and delicious, especially with the sauce. For the main course I had the shrimp pot, and it came with a ton of shrimp. It was the first restaurant on Ocean City, where I felt like I got my moneys worth. It was a little spicy, with all of the seasoning, but no complaints! Then we finished off with monkey bread, which is sweet and delicious! An all around good meal was had by all!
Beautiful place food was yummy 😋 prices were not too bad will definitely come back we had a good time and the choices were excellent
The people that I dined with thought that their meals were decent. My meal deserved no stars. It tasted old, dry, and like a slab of ribs that youd buy prepackaged from a grocery store. My plate in its entirety just looked extremely unappealing and the taste matched. I would not eat food from here again. The service that we received was good but aside from that it was a subpar experience.
Shrimp playe was warm but food was room temperature, however, it was good.My friend said the Fajita platter was full of flavor
This was my first time visiting Crab Bag.Waited a very long time to get seats and food - the food and service were alright. This evening, my friends and I ordered the raw oysters, eastern seafood garden salad, salmon dinner platter and crab imperial.(Oh and the hostess was friendly!)
We went at 6pm & waited 45min as quoted. They txt us when our table was ready so that was nice. Food was amazing & portions were good for most things but I cant say the price was. The steamer basket fed my husband and 2 boys as they added some extra crab legs. I got the bbq pulled pork sandwich. It tasted amazing but the small bag of chips as the only side was kinda odd being I paid $17 for it. We wanted to try the corn bread as a family but wasnt paying $4 for two pieces. That be $8 for 4 little square pieces. Staff was friendly and our waiter had a lot of tables but was very friendly & did his best.
Fresh seafood, all prepared well! Its a bit more of a very large dive bar, but the food speaks for itself! Try the conch fritters, they are quite hard to find on most menus and theirs are crunchy and moist.
I’d average this place at 3.5 stars. It’s huge and disorganized. The layout, staff and organization get a 3, which is kind. When you walk up you realize there are 2 separate buildings made into one restaurant. It’s kind of confusing trying to figure out where to enter and you walk by garbage cans and kitchen stuff that looks messy. When we found the hostess she put us on the waitlist. She didn’t mention we could eat at the bar if there was seating and didn’t even suggest we go and hang out while we waited. We asked if there was a bar and she gave us some vague directions that were confusing and said there was a bar in either building. Kind of strange that bars weren’t on the ground floors for people to have a drink while they are waiting for their table. It took several wrong turns before we found the bar. No signs up with directions or help from employees. Once we found it we were told we could eat there so we decided to do that and not have to wait. The bartender was pretty busy but he seemed like he didn’t care much about helping anyone. It took several requests to get waters with our drinks and when the food came neither he nor the food runner brought us plates, napkins, silverware or asked if we needed anything else. We had to ask for each item individually so it was annoying to keep waiting while our food was getting cold. The food was not bad, we gave it a 4. However, we only had the steamed spiced shrimp and old bay seasoned fries. We chose this place because they had seared scallops and steamed shrimp. We were sad to find out that they were out of scallops so we opted for the shrimp only. The shrimp was tasty and fresh but slightly over cooked and came out a bit cold. It had definitely sat there for awhile before it was brought up. I ordered a creamsicle crush. The bartender did make it very well. Tasted just like a creamsicle. So many good places to eat in this area. Check out another spot!
Our best stop for summer timein OCCrabs, seafood and beers.Busy time its ~45 min to 1 hour, but you can drink something while you are waiting. 👌
Loved it! I had the all you can eat crabs and had about 14 I think myself alone and the monkey bread that came with it was almost the highlight itself! Cant recommend this place enough!
Food was GREAT! We didnt enjoy the MULTIPLE Flies buzzing around us and our food! Thats why we sat INSIDE! I can tell we didnt get the best server, he was chewing and had food on his face when he greeted us and I politely gave him a napkin to wipe it off. He was gone for long periods of time and we noticed we didnt get the brown paper roll over our tables like others did, so I used the table brown paper towels to cover ours. He also didnt know ANYTHING about how the Shipping service they offer works. I had to ask the Bartender for boxes because we were ready to go. The bathrooms are small and needs updated! I loved the decor, the outside vibe and there was a hopscotch drawn outside leading to the hostess stand. They were nice girls. Food was tasty so we will return in the future with an Electric Flyswatter!!! 🪰
We popped into OC on this past Friday early evening as the crowd started to fill up the place. We were sat immediately, the place was clean on the outdoor porch and our waitress was great. She was a new server there and on top of everything! The food was great (I had the raw oysters - they were big and filled the shell delicious)The ahi tuna with seaweed salad was also perfect! I recommend the Lemon Crush as it didn’t disappoint.
Went here with the family the other night for dinner. Had the crab dip which was very rich and delicious, needed more bread though for how much dip you get! Steamed shrimp were delicious, the crabcakes were excellent, the snow crab legs were meaty and delicious. We would definitely come back!
Crab Bag is my go to place for crabs every summer when I go to the beach. First let me say, if you visited last summer and had a less than stellar experience, go back. Last year was a tough COVID summer staffing issue and not the norm. I went back this week and was glad I did. The service was great as it has always been in the past. The crabs were hot and steamy. Where prices are going up everywhere I was happy to see Crab Bag hadnt jumped a crazy amount. Looking forward to returning again.
The service was fantastic. The soup was greasy. The shrimp were way over cooked. The crab legs were overcooked. The price was outrageous. $180.00 for 2 adults and 1 child. No alcohol beverages were ordered. Not a good place for dinner.
Had the snow crab steam pots, shrimp, crab dip and old bay fries. Crab legs a bit soggy, corn was tough, potatoes and onions were good. Shrimp was good. Crab dip was good but bread was toasted so hard it barely broke apart. Service was good. Overall experience could have been better. A little pricey also as bill was 244.00. There is much better fare in OC to try.
This was our first and last visit to Crab Bag. During our visit from Michigan, we wanted an authentic seafood platter and chose Crab Bag based on the menu and location. We were seated upstairs, indoors, and very quickly realized we were right next to the mens bathroom, a staff staging area and a guest thoroughfare. There was so much activity and noise, the 2 of us sat side by side and still couldnt have a conversation. We ordered our food, and although it came fairly quickly, the noise and activity diminished our appetite and we asked to be moved. The staff kindly moved us to a table outdoors and out of the fray, which was much better, however our order was delivered to the table incomplete. It took two trips for everything that was listed on the menu to be delivered. Our food was plentiful but overcooked, cold and nothing worthy of ordering again. The prices were high, we spent $95. On dinner for 2 without alcohol or dessert. We left a good tip, the staff was kind and worked hard. There are so many other places to choose from, its surprising Crab Bag stays in business.
I go here every time I come to Ocean City! The food is always good. Ive ordered a different thing off the menu every time I go and never have gotten anything bad. I just had thier crab cake the other day and it was one of the best crab cakes Ive ever had!!! But like I said, everything Ive ever gotten from here has been amazing!!!
Still my favorite place for blue crabs however I would suggest fixing a few of the tables as we tried a couple of them before ordering and they were extremely wobbly (we were inside and towards the back). Our server was new and very quiet but he was nice. I always recommend The Crab Bag for anyone who wants to eat blue crabs or go to an all you can eat crab meal!
I want to begin by saying the waiter was great! None of this was on him! If this review was based on him, I would have given 5 stars, but unfortunately it is not....A friend and myself ordered a couple of Orange Crush Cocktails. The drinks were not good. The waiter was kind enough to bring them back to the bartender. They came back with more alcohol as we requested, but it still did not taste anywhere like an orange crush. I would describe it tasting like Tang. I never did actually drink my drink. The waiter asked to take it away and I agreed. We were charged for THAT drink I never consumed. I figure, just let that go. The next issue was the restaurant was out of a lot of menu items. No biggie, I get it was a holiday weekend and restaurants run out of things. The wait time for the food was about 1hr 15mins. I ordered the imperial mac and cheese. It tasted like boxed mac and cheese and was watery. Another person at the table ordered a burger medium rare and it arrived to him well done. He addressed this to the waiter and the manager came out with a newly prepared burger. This burger was almost just as well done as the last. Another persons order at the table was completely forgotten and they had to put a rush on his meal. For those at the table that did get their meal (other than the burgerthe consensus was that it was just ok, nothing to brag home about, but for the price it wasnt worth it. It is a shame, when there are endless possibilities of where to eat when down in Ocean City, MD and the end result was your pockets feeling a whole lot lighter, yet still being unsatisfied.
Recommended Restaurants in Ocean City:NOT THE CRAB BAG.Im giving this one star because the food was OK, after I got to eat it super cold at home 2 hours after I ordered it. The service was unusually bad.Im guessing this isnt standard, but here is our experience. We waited 20 minutes for a table no surprise or complaint at this stage. We were seated at 6pm, and put in an order for our toddlers dinner and group appetizers very quickly.Long story short (and then long againmy husband finally arrived home with dinner by 7:40 (5 minute drive from the restaurant. The waitress said the kitchen was backed up, but told the table behind us that the kitchen actually lost our ticket. It was pretty clear she forgot to put in our order.Half of us had to leave at 7 because the food hadnt arrived, and we had to be somewhere by 7:30. We asked the waitress just to pack it to go when its ready and bring the check. My husband and toddler waited for the food and check. When the food arrived, the waitress brought it up on a tray and not boxed up. She put it on the table and said she would box it up there. Then she had to bring out someone from the kitchen to help box it up. She forgot one of our appetizers, but charged us for it anyway. My husband had to wait an extra 5 minutes for the final entrée to arrive. After asking for the crab dip to be removed because he wasnt going to wait for it, the manager came to apologize but offered nothing in return. We spent $200 on the worst dining experience I have had in recent memory. 0/10 would not ever return to this establishment.PS: Stop putting powdered sugar on your hush puppies you sociopaths.
Me and my family went and figured we wanted some seafood but it all ends terribly. We get the seafood and the everyone hates it and says it’s unseasoned. And it really was! One member got the Philly cheesesteak and said that was unseasoned too. GUYS, safe yourself the gas, PLEASE. Don’t walk away from this place run away from this place. ALSO, they took forever to bring the cheese steak out at least 20 minutes. AFTER they forgot it. Save yourself the time and please go somewhere else!!!Also terrible prices for some TERRIBLE FOOD!!!!
This place is overrated, over priced, and over cooked 🫤 the staff was kind to us but rude to others, and the food gave me diarrhea 😮💨 if your in the MD area I recommend the lobster shanty ❤️ They had great food, great views and the staff there is fabulous.
It was like a maze to get into the restaurant. We sat at picnic tables on the deck which was fine. The food was ordinary. I had Mac and Cheese Crab Imperial. For the price I was disappointed. The mac and cheese was watery. The portions were not generous. I would not go back. There are too many other places to choose from.
Manager on site the night of my wife’s outing was extremely rude and only partially comped meal after they found a fly mushed up in their food. Said “oh well it happens”We will not be back. Very nonchalant, not my problem attitude and would not comp the appetizer which has always been standard at the restaurants I’ve worked at under similar circumstances.Server was really nice and it was unfortunate that she was our server during such a disappointing interaction with management
We got take out and the crabs were big and delicious plus the crab cakes were phenomenal! Definitely a great place for big delicious crabs!
Crab Bag is our go to for crabs and seafood all year long. I had a jumbo crab last night which was of course tasty but WHOA the price of crabs is OUTRAGEOUS! A dozen of extra large was 185.00! thankfully you could buy individually and I got my fix in. If your ever in OC stop by ..you wont be disappointed!
We came here and sat outside. There were a ton of flies, as if we were sitting next to a dumpster. I ordered the crab and shrimp pot- the shrimp tasted chemically and the crab was tough and not fresh tasting. My friend ordered the ahi tuna, and asked to make it very rare. It came out over cooked with very little pink. I order calamari as an app almost everywhere I go- and this had to be the worst. Very overcooked and dark brown. The following three days from this meal, I have had food poisoning. Only giving two stars versus one because our waiter was great.
Crab bag….. where do I even begin. Memorial Day weekend, I went with my husband and our 3 children. We were seated promptly, and our drinks order taken. We ordered shortly after. Our starters were ordered at the same time as the meal but never came out even after we had been sitting an hour plus. The section we sat in had only 3 other parties, one of which was wrapping up when we arrived. What caused the delay……. I can’t even begin to imagine. It was irritating when the manager I suppose came to offer his apology, with excuses. The food came out eventually, I’ve had crab bags, all sorts of seafood at different price points but this does not even meet the mark of satisfaction with a C+. My kids enjoyed their seafood boil, although it was odd to see almost clear broth and onion slices in it.There’s no kids menu. Mac n cheese were $17 a serving which was in a baked dish.I’ll save my $200 next time.
This place was the bomb.com. Plenty of seating and the crabs were phenomenal. Wish I remembered our servers name as she was THE BEST hostess we ever had.
It was good but not what I expected. We came from KY and looked forward to some real Maryland crab. Which we got! Just not nearly as flavorful as what I’m used to even just making it at home from frozen. There is also no child sized Mac n cheese - which means every child at the table (4wanted a $30 bowl of Mac n cheese.
The food was excellent after a day of driving and golf. The server was very nice and he recommended some great options! The crab meat was very flavorful and he showed us how to dissect it. There was also shrimp and corn on the cob which were equally good. The wings were a perfect side, too! The price was also very reasonable. The whole experience was very fun. Will come back for seafood again.
We had great experience at the Crab Bag.We had the big steamed dinner and was amazing. We try crab fries.I was so excited that they had coctail buckets - they was amazing.Staff was really friendly and great.
I was hesitant whether or not to come to Crab Bag after reading some reviews on Google but decided to give it a try.We had to wait about 10 min for a table on the deck, and ordered immediately after being seated. The food was so-so, small portions for relatively high prices, and the service was lacking. We waited for about 25 min for some extra bread for a Crab dip and it came completely burnt. Also our server mixed up one dish that we ordered.
After a long day at the beach, this is exactly what we needed. Top deck all-you-can-eat crabs with corn on the cob, fries, hush puppies, and clam strips. Perfect late afternoon/early evening timing, great music, cold drinks, and more. Our server, Barbara, was on top of things, as were all the other members of the staff. Tremendously wonderful experience!!!
So much fun. Had my Maryland friends take me out to eat blue crabs like locals at Crab Bag. We ate a bushel of jumbos! Wow! So good. Great atmosphere, great drinks and great service.
The Crab Bag has been around for a long time, but I never knew about it until yesterday. Its a great place to eat during the pandemic because it has lots of outdoor seating. I came with a party of friends and family. They rearranged the tables so we could all sit together, and they seated us promptly. Our server, Ryan, was attentive and efficient. We had two dozen steamed crabs. They were prepared perfectly. We asked if they were Maryland blue crabs. Ryan told us that the Chesapeake Bay was not yielding good crabs this season so these blue crabs were sourced from Louisiana. They were hefty, meaty and delicious.I had cream of crab soup, excellent. The Maryland crab soup was also excellent.Oddly, at the end of the meal, our server told us that they dont serve desert or coffee. Thats OK. We all enjoyed our meals. I recommend the Crab Bag.
We’ve been coming to this place since they were just a shack selling only takeout crabs in a bag. It’s amazing how much they’ve grown and the food is just as amazing. We refuse to go anywhere else for crabs. We came in early (about 4:30-5pmso everything was available. We ordered the Mac and cheese which is expensive at $16 but ohh so good. We also ordered a couple of medium/large crabs but I would suggest getting the all you can eat, its the most cost effective. I got the snow crab legs pot (picturedwhich was delicious. Can’t wait to go back!
This place is absolutely amazing. One of the best dinners weve had in Ocean City. And definitely one of the most fun times. I wish I could remember our servers name because she was awesome! From the time we walked in until the time we left, Crab Bag did not disappoint. If youre in Ocean City, make this spot a must stop!!
Im currently sitting at our table at the Crab Bag. The food was mediocre at best, there was nothing to write home about. They were out of many items. On my meal an item was substituted without asking me what I wanted. The customer should be asked prior to giving them a random substitute. The service for us was fine, but I watched a table next to us ask for to-go boxes when their meal arrived, they stated they had been waiting for well over an hour and a half for their food. For the prices I would expect better quality. The price didnt equate to the quality. The only saving grace was our server Lauren S. A table next to us currently sits empty of customers but with lots of dirty plates, and we have been here over an hour. In addition employees shouldnt be complaining in front of customers it was a young lady in a pink shirt. I havent given a 3 star rating in a long time. It would have been lower if it werent for Lauren. She was very nice.
