It was okay, I think the Lumpia was my favorite. Friendly service but some of the menu wasnt as easy to understand what is included as I would have liked. Shared parking with other businesses. Fairly large and clean dining area.
Theyve been here for four years! According to what I tried (this is my first time heremy favorites are.. the lumpias and tempura shrimp. Its to die for! Oh my heck...guarantee! Think Thanksgiving and Christmas Party pupu platters... youll be the show off of the party! The kalbi ribs, Pulehu meat, Adobo, and kalua pig ..I really enjoyed these and would definitely order them again. The sauces and rice were excellent! You need to try the various items on their menu..... Hawaiian food and Filipino food. Definitely coming back. They also have Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice for breakfast!
Best Hawaiian food and the best service. I love eating here I can’t get enough. I call ahead my order for pick up it’s always right and hot and ready. They’re also on DoorDash. Best restaurant in the area I’ve tried all of the other places not as good.
I normally love your food very much but I need to say this.Im not sure it if you just keep changing chefs or what, But the last time I ordered the food got there and the Pansit was just noodles....No pork, no veggie just noodles portions were way off. Today I ordered from your food truck in Cottonwood height were I work and brought all my coworkers with me and who ever cooked this was horrible. The rice was dry. The Mac salad tasted like something I would get at the grocery store. Not sweet, no veggies nothing. They Adobo pork was so salty I couldnt eat it and my friends Katsu chicken was so dry it was like jerkey.Im giving you a three star because I know your better than this and dont want to effect your score. But you need to get your cooks trained so it is more consistent and who ever was in the food truck in cottonwood heights on 10/4/2022 you need to retrain the team. That was bad and they over charged me for the 2 meat plats when I ordered 1 meat.>>>>> I hope you get this dialed in because I do love your food.
We each had Hawaiian plates (3 entrees per plate and everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and so delicious! We will be coming back, worth every penny!
The food is great it’s a little pricey, but worth it.
Dakine Grindz catered our son & new daughters wedding! (She is from PhilippinesThe DG crew came to our venue plenty early, set everything up, served piping hot, and stayed and cleaned up! The filipino food was amazing! All of our guests loved the meal! DG really helped make our event special!🌺
We used the Dakine Grindz food truck for our wedding celebration. Leilani was very responsive whenever I reached out to her prior to the event, and the guests raved about the food. There was a bit of miscommunication about headcount and the contract prior to the event, which caused some stress. However, I would definitely have the team back for a future event and ensure we are on the same page every step of the way in the planning process. Thank you, Leilani and team!
Pretty good! The steak and fried chicken were really good. Service was fast and polite. The katsu sauce is tasty and really needed with the chicken to give it that extra flavor.
I think we just found our new favorite restaurant. The chicken katsu and the pork adobo are very tasty, the spicy sisig was an interesting and adventurous experience. The hurricane fries pair amazingly well with a snifter of Rabbit Hole bourbon, turning them completely decedent. Ending the meal with a peach mango Empanada; we are kicking ourselves that we havent tried this place sooner.
Visited the Dakine Grindz food truck today. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed in the food. The chicken tasted like yesterdays chicken (with decent sauce thoughand the macaroni salad had zero flavor. To add to my disappointment was the cost; $17.00 for this meal was ridiculous. Maybe it was just a bad day for the truck, but I wont be visiting them again.
I placed an order over my phone and it said my VISA card was charged but the order did not make it to this establishment so I had to order it physically at the restaurant. The individual told me they never received the order so the charge shouldnt show up on my VISA card but it did. I went back in and showed them and they told me they never received the funds from VISA so I filed a dispute with my credit card company. VISA told me Dakine Grindz did receive the funds so they outright lied to me. I filed another dispute with VISA and will file a claim in small claims court for the $43.67 plus the filing fees plus an additional amount for time wasted on this matter.Update: the owner refunded the $43.67 today; apparently it was some kind of computer glitch so I do appreciate her taking care of this matter. The original one star rating I gave was solely due to the dual charge on my credit card. As far as their food, its excellent and I highly recommend.
It was fantastic! Tasted Very authentic and all of the meats/sides were amazing.
Great experience! Chicken Katsu was the best Ive had in the area and the macoroni salad was amazing. The staff was super friendly as well. Food seems a bit pricey, but you are actually paying for 2 large meals due to all of the leftovers you will have!
Got this from the food truck. It was okay. The steak kabob was burnt. Mac, pork belly and pork adobo was okay.
The food is decent but $17 for pork on a stick which I was told came with 2 sides for which I choose rice for both, and its the cheapest side of all. But their 2 sides is 2 tiny ice cream scoops of rice and 1 single napkin for food togo bbq none the less...For $17? Im a little bit concerned about this I thought others should know. Update: after giving it a taste now the pork has a funky spoiled taste...
The food is super yummy! The owner was so kind to my kids and made them delicious boba drinks. The pork rolls were savory, crunchy, and well cooked, the chicken katsu was fried well and full of flavor! Thanks, Dakine Grindz!
The food here is awesome! We love coming here. Everyone is so nice!
If youre Filipino, their adobo, pinakbet and pancit are just like your Lola makes, including HUGE portions. The lumpia especially are to die for. The family platter is stated to feed 3-4 people, but if youre not hungry sumo wrestlers, youll be bringing leftovers home!To say "Sooooo good" about this place is an understatement. We cant wait to go back and try their Hawaiian specialties.
Food was good, even though they messed my order and didnt write a drink I ordered and also the 1 Boba i did get didnt have any of flavor bubbles actually in it. Probably wont eat it again. This was the food truck not the restaurant.
Wonderful hole-in-the-wall spot! Its our favorite place for Hawaiian food in the area. Owners are very personable :their Galbi is the most delicious pieces of meat Ive ever tasted
This company has come to my apartment complex a few times now. They have trucks come every Thursday. The team is absolutely awesome, and the food is amazing. I couldnt say any one thing was better than anything else. It was a great meal and I enjoyed every item. Not just this time. but every time I have ordered from them. If I could give 10 stars, I definetily would!
We had their food truck cater our wedding. Everything was perfect. Hot, tasty food, careful follow-up to make sure they were serving the right food. Truck arrived on time, everyone was more than full. Best part -- no kitchen cleanup : Thanks so much!
Amazing Hawaiian food! Personally my favorite was the Katsu Chicken! I recommend this place over LoLo Hawaiian BBQ or any other Hawaiian place. I’d say this place is about $$ out of $$$$$. Little more pricy but it’s worth it! Located in the sunset plaza, by the MedVet!
Great food and clean place! Service was good too. Their Filipino food selection is decent but tastes really delicious! I had the sisig (not in photo), pork bbq, lechon kawali, adobo rice and they were all very delicious. Would not recommend the pancit/bihon though I think it needs a little bit more flavor. The portions were pretty good too, totally worth the price!
Where is the 10 star button!? This is without a doubt the best Filipino and Hawaiian food in Davis/Weber county. There isn’t a less then amazing thing on their menu, if you haven’t tried it yet go right now. The only down side is the looming addition to their food, but it’s worth it. 10/5 stars all day.
Absolutely incredible food that never disappoints. I brag to my friends out of state about this place all the time, and Im blown away with every dish they have. So good! Come try this gem!
Only the best Hawaiian food. Incredible food! Well flavored. Fast friendly service. Well be back!
This is a wonderful place to eat because the food is delicious and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. There is an enjoyable fusion menu of Filipino and Hawaiian cuisine. The menu items I order over and over are the Huli Huli chicken, the chicken katsu, and a side item called pancit noodles. The Huli Huli chicken can be ordered regular or spicy. The spicy is my preference because it is a mild heat that is really enjoyable and at a spice level that almost anyone could enjoy.
I had a good meal here. The food was pretty good. The staff was super friendly and made you feel at home. This is exactly what I would expect for Hawaiian barbecue place and I was not disappointed. Im excited to try other things on the menu.
Dakine Grindz is a nice little place in a strip mall off the frontage road to I-15 towards Roy, UT. The food here has some good points and some misses. I ordered the Hawaiian burger (came without burger patty that I did not bother to complain aboutwith curly fries. The fries were great and their fry sauce is on the sweet side (not my favorite). Burger was not bad for missing the burger patty as it was just pork, spam, egg and a tomato on a good bun. The egg was over cooked and the pork needs sauce which you can add from their options by the drinks. The sauces did not have much taste difference and were not spicy or hot at all. Would maybe come back for other dishes and seems about average for the Hawaiian places in the area.
I order from this company using one of the delivery apps. I stated a special allergy and they took the time to contact me and change my order because the things I was allergic to were the main ingredients in the food. The food I received was delicious. I tastes a bit more Hawaiian than Filipino, but Im not complaining one bit... it was super yum.
Very food Hawaiian food. I felt like this place took me back to when I was on Oahu. I had the Monday special with the Spam. It was very tasty. The fish tasted fresh. My moms BBQ chicken was delicious. Well definitely be back.
Went to Dakine Grindz for the first time last night. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable! The hurricane fries were the perfect combination of sweet and salty. Pork and steak kabobs were tender and juicy. Huli Huli chicken was freaking fantastic. The Mac salad was divine. I can’t wait to go again!
THE BEST Hawaiian and Filipino food around! We wanted to try some new places because we usually stick with the big chain fast food with the same stuff and we’re getting sick of it. This place had good reviews so we decided to try it out. We were welcomed with a warm “Mohalo!” When we walked in the door. We asked what they recommended on their menu because we had never been there. They told us three of their favorite dishes. They were fast and helpful when taking our order to-go. Then they told us it would be a 10-15 minute wait and offered us water while we waited. We didn’t even ask for it! When our food was ready they called for us and waited to bag it until we were there at the counter so they could tell us what each to-go box was making sure we got our whole order. Let me just tell you. The food. Is. Incredible!! I was blown away. I can’t wait to try EVERYTHING on their menu. I can’t recommend highly enough. The food - amazing. The service - exemplary. I felt like part of their family just ordering food!! THANK YOU!!
MMMM..YUM! This place is AWESOME! Love the food. I cant get enough. They know what they are doing. I havent had anything that I didnt enjoy to the fullest. Since Ive found this place, my husband has asked me to get this now 3 times...he never does that. And you cant skip dessert here either....get the empanadas...eat them first so they are piping hot! Sooo good. Keep giving us this delicious foods!
Tried this place for the first time. We ordered Kahlua pork, beef kebob with noodles and fries on the side. All of the food was delicious. The pork was so tender and moist. The beef was tender and flavorful. We took our order to go and drove a 10 or less minutes home. The fries were probably crisp when they were put in the container but lost their crispiness by the time we got home. But they still had good flavor. We are definitely eager to try more of the menu. We will definitely order online next time though. It seems like the majority of people order ahead. The individual taking orders seemed a bit confused and didnt ring up the order correctly the first time. Wait time from paying for the food and receiving the food was at least 20 minutes but was worth the wait.
EAT HERE IF YOU’RE NEARBY AND LOVE GOOD HAWAIIAN AND FILIPINO FOOD, OR GOOD FOOD IN GENERAL!!Seriously though. So good. Also super awesome friendly staff! The Huli chicken is a must!!
The best Hawaiian food i have ever had. everything was so delicious. the ribs are amazing.
Do I know Filipino Food? Glad you asked. I claim a complex taste pallet and this review is non-biased coming from a Filipino-American. What is a Filipino cuisine? It is a complex mixture of cultural experience ranging from Mediterranean cooking all the way down to Oriental influences. The food should be spicey with spice but not hot to the taste. In this review, I ordered pork adobo, chicken shoyu, lechon kawali, pork kabobs, and Halo Halo. I will give my opinion based on the authenticity of the cuisine experience and its affordability. The review focused mostly on texture and taste and the cuisine authenticity in general even when each cook adds their own flare, their still remain an expected taste.Starting with pork adobo. The cuisine authenticity is 5/5. The spices were right on target. The meat were soft and tender. Just like how I would cook it.Next is the Chicken Shoyu. I lived in Hawaii for two years and have eaten my fair share of chicken shoyu and gained the right amount of weight eating them. I will give this entry 3/5. It is too sweet for the chicken shoyu entry and lacks the earthiness flavor that a Hawaiian cuisine entails. The chicken skin is tough. How can you make a chicken skin tough in chicken shoyu? Im not sure how but this restaurant made it happen. It lacked the aloha spirit so to speak.Next is the lechon kawali. 1/5 on both experience and authenticity. The meat looked overcooked and the skin is not crispy but way tough. I was expecting fluffy pork meat but this one left a meh experience in my pallet. Instead of crunch I found myself wrestling with the pork belly skin. Edible but not enjoyable.Next up is pork kabobs. Taste authenticity is 5/5. Meat texture is 1/5. It was like biting a jerky. They should just call it pork jerky and not kabobs.Last but not the least, Halo Halo. Authenticity is 1/5. Instead of using Ube halaya, they went and chose to use Ube ice cream. This is the biggest missed opportunity to highlight an authentic Filipino dessert. Sweet beans are also absent and the occasional evaporated milk or leche flan were also omitted from the ingredients. Texturally speaking, this was just a shaved ice with ice cream. So in closing, should I recommend this fine eatery? I have no answer to that because some people do like them. Im not saying avoid them, I just have no conclusion to that. Its only Monday and I have not tried their other entry. They have different specialty every day. This review cost me $60. Not as affordable as I like it to be considering the amount of food that I got. In Hawaii and Philippines, you can get heaping serving with the cost I paid.Disclosure. I had to drink water with a pinch of citric acid between dish so that I can clear my taste pallet and enjoy the experience in between entries. I did enjoy the experience and hope to try the other entries.Mahalo nui loa to everyone.
Amazing food! The whole restaurant had a home-cooked food vibe and you could tell everything was made with love and with fresh ingredients. Best Hawaiian food in Utah!
What an awesome vibe. Super clean chill location that had a great feel of Hawaii, and not the cheesy cliche Hawaii. I got the loco loco adobo platter. Will definitely be ordering it again. Also three mac is right at home. They bail the mac! Thank you Dakine Grindz! Oh yeah they also have a great looking food truck!
This is one of the top Hawaiian restaurants in the state! The food has lots of flavor. So Hawaiian restaurants have very simple flavor profile (some are even bland). But this place obviously loves their traditional Hawaiian food. The only thing I would change is the Mac salad. It is better than most but its flavor is muted compared to the other dishes.
Excellent food. I ordered the boodle fight platter which had a lot of different foods. All of it was delicious. Their empanada was also really great. The owner is super nice. Will definitely be a return customer.
Very authentic Hawaiian food.Wonderful employees.very clean, great for families, single, take out, date night.Had fun playing checkers.Food is fast and amazing!! Big helpings.
Great hospitality, yummy homemade style food, good prices! Would always come here when Im in the area and definitely see them when they have their food truck
Really tasty food, good quality, and super friendly staff!Ate at the food truck and was really impressed with the quality of the food. This place is as good as Mo Bettahs and I strongly recommended it. Go for the steak and chicken with some rice and macaroni salad.
I had the kalua pork with a side of white rice and noodles. It was delicious! The owners are super friendly and make sure you dont leave hungry. Definitely get your moneys worth. I recommend going and trying some of the authentic Hawaiian-fillipino dishes
This place is fantastic! The atmosphere is good, the staff are nice and friendly but best of all, the food is delicious and authentic. It has quickly become our favorite place to go to whenever we want food just like how my Lola and my Titas make em. Best Filipino food in this area!!
Staff was super nice and friendly! Felt like I was home with my family. I ordered the pork adobo, chicken katsu, rice and pancit 😍❤ My wife ordered the huli huli chicken, mac salad, and the veggie lumpia. Would definitely recommend and make this a new favorite spot. Salamat po!
