I have stayed here a couple of times for work . First time was decent , this past time was the best ! I was by myself and I have mobility issues and the staff ( particularly Jamie and Denise went above and beyond to help me and did it as if they had been my friend for years . That means so much when you are away from home. My room was accommodating. I have found that many hotels even if they say “ handicap accessible “ still lack many needs . This hotel did not . I’m very thankful for their help and will be back if in the area . Thank you
Located in downtown Ashland, this hotel features a number of great amenities and appears to be either brand new or completely remodeled. We got a suite which includes a separate bedroom and a living room. The furniture was nice, bedroom was large, beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was large with good counter space. The service was excellent. Some of the great amenities and features include a highly rated restaurant, 2 bars, convenience store, large fitness center, business center, Starbucks, free parking, HBO Max access, and room service. The only things you will want to be wary of are the following: possible long waits at restaurant on busy nights (there was an hour and a half wait due to a concert in the area when we were there), breakfast is not free, and there is no pool.
Upon arrival, we went to the room which had a strange smell of old cigarettes that was immediately overwhelming. We found the fridge to be dirty and have a nasty smell coming from it. We called ahead to inform the hotel that a fridge and freezer were absolutely vital due to me being a breast feeding mother with the need to store breast milk. The sheets were also stained with what looked like human fluids and had hair all over them. The floor was disgusting with visible dirt and hair. We called management who then inspected the room and agreed that it was dirty and said they would get us another room. We then went to the second room, which was dirty and unsanitary as well. The fridge was dirty and was leaking water, the sheets were stained with blood and again what appeared to be human fluids. There was also hair all over the sheets. Stained sheets, dirty and unsanitary living conditions, and foul smells are to be expected at a best western, not a “premium” Marriott hotel. I have stayed at holiday inns that had higher cleanliness standards than this Marriott. We drove six hours to get to this hotel to see a concert the same night of our arrival but since this hotel could not have a room with basic clean and sanitary living conditions, we had to drive back home (another six hoursand we were not able to attend the concert. All this to say, no I would not recommend staying at this hotel to anybody, ever. At a rate of $540 for two nights, I expect to, at a minimum, be provided a room that is safe for a five month old to stay in. This hotel could not provide that, and they had two chances to get it right. I’m sure that we are not the only people to be presented with disgusting room, but we are either the only people that are calling them out on their terrible way of treating guests, or they have been told their rooms are nasty and they don’t care enough to change it. Either way is disgusting. Lastly, I did not feel like anybody really cared to lose our business. It just felt like they couldn’t care less about the situation. Only one lady at the front desk seemed genuinely sorry, but it was very clear that the head of house keeping could not care less that HER staff was not doing there jobs. Again, no I won’t be recommending anybody stay there.
The accommodations were nice but the restaurant gets a one star rating. 30-40 to get food and it’s not hot. My waffles were cold at breakfast. I’ll stay there again but won’t be dining.
