I took my dog here for a little picnic at the park and I met a super-chill girl, we enjoyed a sandwich and Mac salad together and played with my dog for a couple of hours. I hope we get to see each other again soon and maybe I can actually ask her out on a date with just us. Overall I was very pleased with the whole place. Lots of space and actually a fairly clean and inviting atmosphere.
My grandsons football practice is here its a nice park but the bathroom is a little creepy and theres homeless people that hang out around there
The bathrooms are always thrashed. If they are even unlocked. But aside from that its alright i guess. Theres plenty of other parks that are way better that arent all that far away if you are mobile
Lots of homeless people here. They all tend to leave a mess. Its pretty bad lately.
Its a big park that is fairly quite, I like the grassy hills. There are 2 playgrounds & tennis courts, and a area with tables & barbecues. The bathrooms are closed work in progress. Update the restrooms are almost complete but still not open.đŦđ
(They serve kids lunch @10:45am )I came back after 4years and dang this park went down the drain. The best thing about is the grass and the baseball diamond. Theirs garbage everywhere. The swing is broke. Tagging on all the benches. Their is a city worker here rite now cleaning up the throwing up garbages but I think they just cant keep up with the campers that sleep here occasionally overnight.
Ants. Ants ants ants. The bleachers are old and splintering, the play areas leave much to be desired with their minimal design and the bathrooms are a joke. They dont even have garbage cans in them! The park has a lot of potential though.
Big park, lots of open spaces. Lot of garage near the parking area âšī¸
Very nice
Went there to meet a new friend but he was a no show . oh well, there will be others.
Not much for kids. Playgrounds suck but tennis courts are accessible.
I am not rating this low because of the park itself but because of the riff raff that has taken over the park. I have been coming to this park since I went to school at Downey High. It started getting bad about 10 years ago and in the last few years has considerably gotten worse. If your kids are older, like 13 plus and you dont leave them there alone, I guess it is cool, but young kids, just not the place to go anymore.
Its getting better theyre fixing it up making it nice.
Great sized park in my home town neighborhood. Just need them to finish the bathroom construction lol and itd be perfect lmao
Its a decent park .nice area
Its a clean park and has built in bbq grills. Had a great time.
Saw two homeless people give each other the covid vaccine thank God we are staying safe đ
It was nice. The picnic table area was clean and had canopy cover for half the tables. The park was clean with lots of trash cans. The bathrooms were closed for renovation? All in all a nice park.
This Park has a nice and clean walk trail đŖ
Lots of shade peaceful green grass and aided in the rescue of 2 starship delivery drones
Love being able time come here and sit in the shade. Most of the time its quiet so you can just relax and just be for a minute.
Doesnt have the same kickout remember to it seems kind of dead hopefully it comes back after they realise covids not real
Tennis courts are a little beat & Theres no restroom but its still a nice park overall. Drive slow through the parking lot, it badly needs re-paving.
Great place to work out and walk a dog also alit of space and good area to play baseball
Its alright has picnic tables to eat!! Its alright to go for a bit not a big playground to play on it but there is a good space to go bike rideing
Nice park! Great for tennis, play equipment, baseball, and hanging out.
Its nice to see people an kids actually utilitizing the park I want to appollgize for how I am.
The park is always fun with the kids, the bathrooms are closed right now so make sure you plan for that. We use the tennis courts for practice riding scooters and skateboards.
Great park to take your dog in the evening. Not usually packed and has a few different areas to choose from to run around
the homeless people attempted to attack me in the bathrooms there demanding ebt cards n edd money tuff crowd over there
Had a celebration of life there it was nice need to fix the restrooms but nice! WOW classic you can really see the smoke in these pics
Great, low traffic, peaceful park. Smaller than some, not a big play structure, but a well maintained baseball field, very nice grassy areas, and probably the most available tennis courts in Modesto, and best of all the city just fixed them up! New paint, cleaned up trash, and fixed nets! I think its great they paid it some much needed attention! Thank you!
Well I layed down by the bathrooms and watched a girl dance in her underwear. Great park. I think Ill go back tonight
At this time the bathrooms are temporarily shut down due to a fire and I believe it will stay that way for a while. No bathroom, not a very good park for a picnic.
Its a super nice park with green grass and great landscaping. Its very well tended and its just a comfortable place to enjoy. However, the parking lot needs some serious attention. There are potholes are numerous and awful and they looks and feel terrible to drive on.
Nice neighborhood park. Big reservable picnic areas. Play grounds, horseshoe pits bathrooms. Good party location.
Nice park lots of shade trees. Lots of red ant hills you dont know youre near one until your feet start to itch. OuchđŦ
Great place for picnics and parties but its time for the city to work on the shading that is in place. Its old and has holes. The shading doesnt even cover all of the tables. Other than that we always enjoy ourselves here.
The park look pretty good considering we havent had a lot of nice weather to have things worked on
Grew up in this neighborhood even went to John Muir elementary School also went to Downey high School breifly. But I have noticed that there are homeless people there at Downey park. This neighborhood has been through so many changes lets just hope that the changes dont get worse be safe at night ....
So I was dropping off my wife for work at the hospital where she works and in the parking lot where I drop her off there was a Lunar Space Module. Wait What?!Yup , there was a real lunar module there. Right outside the hospital. Ive spent some time in Downey and you can see some hints of what was here before. There is a small icon or thumbnail of a space shuttle on "challenger way" or the plaques of space mile stones located in the shopping center nearby.Did anyone else know that this place is the best $5 you can spend in this town? (other than inside a Portos?)
The part to be very nice if they could do something with all the homeless and Trancy it living in the bathrooms and doing drugs its not a part that I would take my family to City needs to take care of this problem
Has several nice areas for children to, a big picnic area and rolling lawns. Clean and a decent restroom.
As far as parks in the city it is among the larger, well maintained and safer. There is ample shade by many trees, a healthy population of song birds and a fly over spot on the painted lady butterfly migration. The playground is nice equipment is newer-ish like most areas of the city it can be quite hot mid day so mind your kids if you dont want them crying. Great for soccer, field play, water gun, water balloon fights. Definitely a nice place to spend a day outdoors.
Nice and shady with a playground, softball field with bleachers. There are also tennis courts and a small walking trail.
The bathroom had 4 stalls and NO doors, not to mention, it says its a dog park, but its not fenced in. How does that count as a dog park? Its a nice looking park, but i wouldnt bring my kids here because the bathrooms are a voyeurs paradise. Creepy!
A pretty good park. Some things need repairing; electrical outlets, baseball field stands. For the most part it is a relatively good place to spend your afternoon.
Sort of nice when hundreds of kids are there practicing sports...but...lots of dangerous characters around pretty much 24/7
Amazing park a great place to bar bq with family and friends. Clean and lots of green trees. There was some homesless so i had to supervise my chidren other than. That the park itself was good
We like the shade and only stopped to try something different. The parking lot pavement was horrible and homeless tend to camp out here. So not too safe for kids to play unless 110% supervised by yourself. You could see people just hanging out in their cars smoking weed, the smell was strong. We stayed just long enough to walk and catch this entire scene. Nothing against anyone, just not where I wanted to relax and take my 1 year old out to play at.
