Great old school diner with home made baked goods like breads and pastry items. Not fancy, but cozy and freindly. Packed but still seats on a Sunday at 8:30 am. Food moves quickly and staff is friendly. Beware of those cinnamon buns. They are delicious.
Just had the worst fish fry in my life here.Talked to blonde waitress when asked how was it I said horrible, she asked can I get you anything else. The ironic part is I have had plenty of good meals there, but not today.
Im sure that back in the 50s and 60s Duncans was fabulous. However, today its a mere shadow of its former selt. I took my aging father at hia request, but he was somewhat disappointed.
Great Hometown Spot. Food was fresh and hot atmosphere was different had old school soda bottles in display cases. Would recommend to go here for breakfast the lunch portion wasn’t enough. But overall good place too stop for a quick bite
Local staple. Cash only. If you want donuts you need to get there early. They sell out quickly. Portions are large. It’s not on the menu but you can order your hash browns deep fried. Great crispy hack. Otherwise they will be pan fried. Weekends are always busy but don’t have to wait that long for a table generally.
Great food, staff was friendly and the prices were great.
Great breakfast spot! Friendly service and homey feel. The portions are huge and they get the home fries right, crispy and dont forget to add the onions and peppers. Definitely try the pancakes! The size of a plate and their specialty ones are out of this world! CASH ONLY, but they have an ATM.
Great owned family place, good food.....must tries are the McDuncan sandwich and the homemade hash. Everything is homemade including bread, muffins and donuts.
Alright it’s only one reason an establishment can be in business for 83yrs…. Go find out for yourself. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”……. Rule of thumb
Excellent prices. Had a cheeseburger on rye with chips for $4. It also came with slaw and a pickle. Was tasty. I also got a piece of cherry pie to go. Quick and friendly counter service. Cash only. I did not try the dairy bar ice cream so cant comment on that. I wanted to get bread pudding but they were out.
Great breakfasts! Best in the Capital District. Only time I ever leave a diner with a breakfast doggie bag because portions are so large.Donuts, cinnamon bread, and sticky buns are great take home bakery items!
Great full service Omelette store, it’s also a pancake store…. And it has a lot of other food too. It’s great.
They have great food and baked goods
Pancakes... Corned beef hash... All good picks... If in the area a super chill dinner with good food and dessert too!. 😁
I visit this place once a year when going up to Saratoga. The corn beef hash is delicious and the portion is just right. I missed the donuts this time. Its been there since 1939 and well worth it if you love old school diners.
Very awesome atmosphere.Delicious food.Good looking waitresses! The staff is very friendly and patient and will allow you to just sit and talk while you enjoy your meal and have time with your friends and family! This is something I absolutely look forward to and love as part of a restaurants atmosphere because the meal isnt always the main event.Sometimes its the people and its the moment.
wonderful omelettes, amazing pancakes, and stunning ice cream. truly a great place to quench burning hunger <3
Service was great..food too. Memories from the past.
It is a very good place to eat. I have not had a bad meal there yet. The glazed doughnuts are the bomb so big. The omelettes are crazy and full of flavor. They bake pastries and doughnuts daily so get there early or you miss out. The only problem I have is it’s kinda dirty inside sticky floors and counter. The cook area is open and gross looking. I don’t mind being able to see food being made but when the floor is greasy and food all over its off putting. Also if you sit at the bar by the bathrooms, you have open bread and pastries right over the counter uncovered. If someone coughs and doesn’t cover their mouth it’s on the food 100%
My grandfather, his friend and I at times often will stop by to get lunch, and, their lunch is pretty good, or, at least what I get is. We often do end up getting lunch after getting my grandfathers friends and his brothers cars out or putting them away (videos on that can be found on my YouTube channel under the same name the name Im using to post this review).
The ultimate old school diner. Fantastic food fast with great service. Keep the coffee coming!
Pancakes very heavy. Scrambled eggs with cheese had cheese placed on top, not really mixed in.
Good breakfast. Highly recommend the deliciously grilled cinnamon buns.
The egg sandwiches were just ok and the service was pretty slow. It was a weekend so we were not expecting a quick in and out, however, we probably waited about 20 minutes for a simple egg sandwich. We will definitely try Duncans again, but we will be eating in and not taking out.
Absolutely delicious homemade baked goods, from scratch food, and awesome milkshakes! Would absolutely recommend a visit. If youve never had one of their cinnamon bums grilled, youre missing out on a real treat.
Without a doubt my favorite breakfast spot in the capital area and I have tried many of them, if your in that area definitely stop in for a bite to eat you wont leave disappointed!
Corned beef hash and home fries were so bland. Eggs were overcooked. Service was slow. The doughnut was the only thing worth a star. I have no idea why this place has as many stars as it does.
The place looks like its falling apart, the inside is almost as bad as the outside. However, if you can look past the leaking ceiling, flies and the fact that they havent upgraded since the easily the 60s...Its probably the best God Damn food Ive ever eaten. I recommend it to anyone.
Food was delicious. Service was fast. I will definitely be returning in the future. The food is fresh. The French fries are made fresh. The soup was amazing.
Crazy good breakfasts, small place, but good service. They always keep the coffee coming, and the French toast is made with their own homemade bread!!
Awesome breakfast. Fast service. Great service and even better portions!Theyve been around since 1939. Go check them out
Only because there’s no sixth star. Our server was great. She recommended the glazed donut be grilled with butter and powdered sugar. IT WAS AMAZING… ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ My wife’s eggs where cooked perfect and the homemade toast was delicious. I had a breakfast sandwich that was also delicious. Portions were big for the price. Again our server was very attentive and friendly and we look forward to coming back. We love breakfast and this is a one stop shop….. well done Duncan’s!
The staff is very well respectful and its feels like home when you walk in........ LOVE THE BAGELS
Another Lucky day here. 2 pouched eggs and both double yokes!!! Special chickens here. Happens frequently.
Stopped for breakfast on the way to NH. Had the ham and cheese omelet. It was so big I couldnt finish it. Breads are homemade. Wait staff is pleasant and attentive. If the NY State Troopers it here, how could it be bad??
Homemade breads and muffins, very friendly staff. A gem in a world of diners that dont make anything in house anymore. The only drawback was that all the food tasted a bit bland even though it tasted homemade.
I have not had a bad experience with the food or service. I feel like I get a home cooked meal every time. The old school look the inside has, for me its awesome, brings me back in time. Love it! I wish it was on the beach because each time I come here I feel like I am eating at a really good seaside restaurant and leave feeling awesome. Dont let the old school decor steer you away, food is awesome!
Great dishes, good sized portions and everything is absolutely delicious. Bring cash, no cards accepted. There is an ATM.
I worked here part time, while living in New York for a year. What fun, being the only male server. BEST DONUTS IN THE WORLD. Id fly back from the south, just for a donut and coffee. Miss my coworkers, but miss the guest the most. This place made me feel like I was back in my small country town. Great atmosphere
Good food. very satisfying, warm & delicious. Good service. Cannot get this old fashion fare anywhere else. Remember coming here with now departed mother & father. Seeing others sharing the history at Duncans, more than a roadside tavern. Much more.
Absolutely unreal. Got seated with dirty sticky menus, asked about their soup of the day and the waitress told me they don’t have soup and about 10 minutes later the waitress took the order of the table next to us and they proceeded to order soup. And then they brought soup out to them. Wait staff brought out burnt terrible food and never came back to check on my table to see if we needed a refill or anything. When the waitress finally came over she just handed us the bill. 0/10 would not recommend.
Amazing Donuts!!! Duncan’s is a great local spot, feels like a diner lost in time, amazing food, super affordable, and the donuts are to die for!
This place has delicious, homemade food. The employees are friendly too. Some of them have become friends with my family over the years. I like that its smaller & more cozy feeling. The only downside is they have this one cook, a younger guy, who Ive seen on numerous occasions wipe his nose on the back of his hand then go back to cooking. Yuck. He wasnt always there while I was growing up so he somewhat hurts the business, in my opinion. Otherwise, I love this place.
A place thats lost in time, but in a good way. Good old fashioned diner food & service. Absolutely worth the stop.
Home cooked food with amazing service. Can’t wait til I can get on that bread pudding
Iconic very old school - circa 1950s- very popular with locals. Their in-house bread is famous. Be prepared for a wait.
Our family has been going to Duncans for years! Good food, great flavor, wonderful staff and fairly priced! We love their homemade baked goods, too! Im so glad that they are well-established in Brunswick. Almost as good as when I used to go to my Moms💕☺️
Quaint, old fashioned diner type establishment. Uneven floors and 50s countertops add to the charm. Food was excellent and the portions were astronomical! We could have split one meal! My sweetie eyeballed the plate-sized donuts and had to get one of those as well. Dunkins was recommended to us by the folks at Brunswick Harley-Davidson as we were passing through from Milwaukee to Boston. We were grateful for the recommendation. Put Duncans on your list for sure!
Amazing diner restaurant! Breakfast is made to order. Very friendly staff; the feeling is like a family gathering. Lots of fun eating at the super long counter. Make sure you have a homemade donut or other baked goods.
Great little place for breakfast. Its very crowded in the morning hours so waiting for a table is common. Great egg sandwiches and pancakes. Homemade corned beef hash has great flavor. The portions are large and everything tastes fresh. Have had a few misses in regards to service but the food is always good.
