Really good coffee and food! Limited seating but worth the wait!
What a wonderful breakfast spot! Everyone was so friendly and the food was enormous portions of delicious comfort food.I had the two eggs, ham, and toast breakfast plate. But they let me substitute a pancake instead of the toast. And let me tell you the pancake was huge and took up its own plate! We also had the breakfast burrito. All your favorites in one huge burrito. They had tables for seating but we sat at the bar on padded stools.Liked their food and casual chill atmosphere so much that we got stickers!
This place is definitely worth it. Its an old school diner with just a counter at the front. The people were friendly and super chatty and absolutely hysterical. The food was diner great which is about all you need. Definitely recommend trying some of the more adventurous stuff on the menu!
Great diner, with great atmosphere! We really enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching the food being cooked and prepped. Food was yummy! They go through ALOT of green chili sauce!! 😁
I was absolutely blown away by this place. The staff was friendly the food INCREDIBLE and the cooks, wow! They were so fast and so in sync with each other ! Ive never seen such hard working cooks in any restaurant Ive been in. Fantastic job guys !!! You definitely gained a new supporter ❤️
This place is a must visit. If it hasnt been featured on Diners Drive In and Dives it should be. Everything homemade. Green Chile sauce awesome!!!
Old school diner with fantastic food! The cure is the bomb! Biscuits are huge, French toast is delicious. The green chili is the best around.
Perfect old school diner. Great food, great atmosphere, and fun to watch the short order cooks doing their thing. Can’t miss for breakfast!
Amazing food and service! If you need a good fill before hitting the slopes or jumping on the mountain bike, youre doing yourself a disservice by not stopping in for fueling your body up! Ive been going to this place for 25+ years and, if nothing changes, I will continue to be a Patron of this fine establishment for another 25 years but hopefully longer!
Glad we stopped in! The food was amazing!!!!! That Durango Green Chile is where its at!! Hats off and well done! We were so pleased!!!
Kitchen sink omelette with green chile sauce was great. Cool vintage diner. Friendly staff and great service. Highly recommended
This place is amazing, rustic, mom and pops small style diner with just amazing food. So the signature thing here is called "The Cure". I had the classic and it is amazing. This dish is hashbrowns covered with cheese, then your choice of bacon, sausage or ham, 2 eggs your way, and finally their amazing made in house green chili sauce smothering the whole thing. Truly an incredibly great dish for any meal. Portions are big, like a platter of green chili smothered yum big. Good service, friendly local staff, amazing food and a good price for what you get. I recommend that anyone visiting Durango, or a local who has never been gives this place a chance. 2 thumbs up and 5 stars across the board.
The atmosphere and food was an absolute 10. My family came here to eat on our vacation from Missouri and everything about this restaurant is amazing I would recommend to anyone to come and try the food!!
Nice nostalgic experience. Sat at the "bar". Very busy great staff! Food is terrific if you like biscuits and gravy. We knew this was a diner and it did not disappoint. Give it a try
Very small locals diner. Food was great. 80% counter seating with grill no more than 5 feet away and poor ventilation. It was 8:30 a.m. and it was hot.
Great breakfast yesterday. Friendly and hard working staff.2 stars off because their single kitchen was also cooking for another restaurant next door. Took forever to get our food. They should tell you this when seating you that service world be slow. Plenty of kitchen to service their own location... but it backs up when they add the additional load.
Great small home town diner with outstanding food. The green chili is very flavorful and the staff is quick, very friendly and courteous!
Pancake was big and delicious, but eggs, hash browns and bacon were not good at all, very dry, tough to eat. Most expensive pancake I ever ate, 25.00 for that and coffee. Smh not worth it.
My last visit here turned into a hostage situation. My family and I were held hostage for over an hour waiting for our food. The cause? An undersized kitchen serving their own space and the Ranch: greed. And then came the food. Ive been a customer for over 30 years and know what I should expect. Thats not what I got. Hashbrowns were rushed and undercooked, ittalian sausage in my b&g!!!, and eggs burnt. This is the death of an icon. Thanks for all the wonderful years Gary...
Get the cure with chorizo. Youll be glad you did. Hometown diner with nice wait staff and generous helping of delicious breakfast food.
Excellent little downtown Cafe.
Oh man, I don’t know where to even begin. Great classic diner. Lots of locals eat here, which is always a good sign. This place is delicious and worth the wait if there is one. Staff is SO nice and on top of it—coffee, water and drinks were consistently replenished. Sit at the second bar top if you can because watching the cooks is so mesmerizing. If they’re busy, there’s a bit of a wait for your food because there are just two cooks, but like I said, worth the wait. Hash browns are a must—they grate the potatoes on the griddle right in front of you. The green Chile sauce is so good, we left with two jars. I had the handheld burrito smothered in Chile sauce and my husband had a cheeseburger with a side of hash browns. Both were excellent. Highly recommend Durango Diner!
Took over an hour for food to come out, waitress wouldnt take our food order with the drinks (which we wanted to do to save time lol what a jokeand then she didnt even write down the order which is probably why it was so late. We watched everyone else get their order who came in after us, so Im assuming the order was messed up (unlikely since we can see the cookor she totally forgot to put in the order. Nice for her to comp our drinks but not cool to pretend nothing is wrong and this is just how it is. Food was decent but not worth 2hrs of my time honestly. If its the only weekend, dont bother with this place.
The Chile Rellenos with their green Chile salsa are the best ones anywhere. Love them. My husband always has the Chile Relleno omlet
The food was really tasty. Classic diner food, but none of the employees washed their hands after touching raw meat and then touching lettuce. Also didn’t wear hair nets and I definitely got a hair in my buttered toast. Won’t be going back here which is really unfortunate considering their food was pretty good. Just unsanitary.
Food was excellent service a little slow but understandable. Its in old town. An old small diner that has character. Would go back.
Very long wait to be seated and staff seemed disorganized at directing traffic. Food was good but we waited an hour for our food to come out the kitchen. Not to mention its very limited seating and no waiting area, not the best for families.
I had been to this restaurant 1 time a couple of years ago & wanted yo take a friend there.I knew that they serve you a lot of food & we both had Corned Beef hash & eggs. My memory didnt remember the huge plate of food that we were served. The Corned Beef has was homemade not canned & it was delicious. Breakfast was served on a platter not a plate & it was covered with food. This is a small, funky place reminds me of diners from the 50s, food is plentiful, atmosphere is a collection of pictures from sports, especially winter sports. We enjoyed it, I think that you will too.
The breakfast this morning was amazingly good! The four of us shared a homemade cinnamon roll and then each ordered different breakfasts. Good hometown cooking and the hash browns were the best I ever had! It is a true, old style diner with the best that means. Absolutely THE Best service and the waitress clued us in to many local favorites. She truly made our morning!!!
Words dont describe how good the breakfast is here, hands down my favorite breakfast joint in the US! Trust me its worth the wait if there is one! And dont miss out on the greenchilli sauce!!!
It was a wait to get in, but now I can see why. We had a delicious breakfast and we enjoyed seeing the food made right in front of us. Workers move very quickly. They talk to anyone with a friendly hello. Everyone made us feel welcome. And it was nice seeing workers in action. I enjoyed the service and the hard work of all employees. From dishwashers, to dryers, To runners, to the cooks, to the waiters and waitresses, you all make it work.
Absolutely delicious Breakfast spot! We stopped in our first morning for a bite before skiing and it was perfect. Great coffee and food. I got the kitchen sink omelette, while the rest of the family had hotcakes, and eggs with biscuits and gravy. The Chile sauce is awesome if youre looking to add a little kick to your breakfast. Portions are huge and we didnt have to eat until late into the afternoon as we were so full. At least for breakfast, there were plenty of naturally gluten free options on the menu (I just opted for no toast on the side).
Ate here on Christmas Eve with the family for breakfast. Food was excellent! They made bunny shaped hot cakes for the kids and the corned beef hash was great. The gem of this place isnt the food (although it is superb!), it is the staff. They are so genuinely friendly and responsive and just really really great at what they do! Full of locals so this should tell you something.
The hospitality was off the charts. Very friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious. I think the secret ingredient was TLC.
Awesome old school diner with a long worn counter filled with locals. Seemed like everyone was on a first name basis here. Friendly small town vibe. Get the Kitchen Sink omelette. I will return.
Old classic style diner with sweet staff. My table mate Kristen didn’t ever get her sourdough, rather some normal toast and boy was she livid. The cure is fuggin amazing. The hot cakes wonderful but still not sure of the diff between hot cakes and pan cakes like is it a superiority thing? Hand is up for hot cake size comparison. Biscuits and gravy were a little chilly but staff was great about heating them back up. Very busy spot because it’s so good.
Must eat here. Old fashioned diner. Friendly workers.. watch them shred potatoes right on the grill and cook them. Food was great. Yes they have some tables.
The place was crowded with not only people, but flies. This is a small, downtown diner so space is limited, tables are close together, and the environment is a bit cramped. The staff was friendly, the cost affordable (for downtown Durango), and the food edible. Aside from the fact that the pancake was very large, there was nothing special about the food. Neither good, nor bad.I hope this doesnt come across as a negative review. It wasnt meant as one. I was merely giving my experience. Truth is, IDK how anyone can make bacon and eggs extraordinary. If in Durango again, it is possible I might eat there again.
The Durango Diner is a MUST for breakfast or lunch! This stop is always at the top of my list when visiting Durango. The service is OUTSTANDING, and the food is ALWAYS FABULOUS!! Huge HUGE portions and well priced! I asked for 1/2 of an order of Biscuits and gravy and could not even come close to finishing this HALF order of yummy stuff! ALWAYS perfection at The Durango Diner and the staff is awesome!
The diner is long and a little narrow but you can sit either at a booth or at the bar. The menu has lots of options and the portions are HUGE!! The staff were super friendly and accommodating to my kiddos. Whenever we come come back to Durango I look forward to going again!!
Be ready to walk a long way to work off this fabulous breakfast! The food is excellent with huge portions! The pancakes are wonderful (unless you are a teenage boy, 1 will fill you up), huevos rancheros and The Cure are outstanding. I am a green chili fan usually, both are great, but if you have a choice go for the red! We will eat here again before leaving Durango!!
Waitress was nice and polite. The food however, was not that great. Ordered the bisquit and gravy , overwhelmed with pepper! Thats all it tasted like, pepper. Could not finish it. Hashbrowns were burnt & cooked on the outside, but the inside was not cooked all the way. Just ate the eggs and toast...honestly would not here again.
Very friendly simple diner. The food was decent. Big homestyle portions. The server was very attentive, and on top of our table, even though it was a busy Sunday. They accidentally dropped my breakfast so it took longer to bring my food out and they were so gracious and put it on the house. Nice breakfast for our long drive back home.
Authentic old school Durango breakfast...I got the green chili on the side for my eggs... excellent... but after seeing the guys hand grate the hash browns I wish I had ordered them too!!!
Homely and tasty , we missed an exit and ended up in Durango, but it was a perfect mistake .. Got the vibe of the little city and it’s people along with the food . The portions are huge for their in the house specialities ...
If Im in Durango you know Im swinging by the Durango Diner for breakfast or lunch. Classic old timey diner setting. Serving staff and cooks are very friendly and make it a fun atmosphere. Their green chili sauce is ridiculously good and I would certainly suggest getting "The Cure" for a breakfast option. During COVID-19 they are currently seating people 6 feet apart and limiting the amount of people inside.
*Important note- the hashbrowns arent burnt, I just ordered mine extra crispy*Read a few positive reviews and decided to stop here on our road trip, and I am currently sitting in the diner sipping my coffee because raving about this place couldnt wait for me to get home. Seriously cant reccomend it enough! Its a small little space but the workers are like a well oiled machine, and along with efficiency, the staff was also overwhelmingly friendly. Ive never seen a restaurant where even the cooks were welcoming.Best hashbrowns Ive ever had. I got a ham and cheese omlette- also delicious. My mom got "The Cure" and loved it.Super strongly recommend the hashbrowns and the bacon. Portions make it well worth the price.
MOST DELISHIOUS HEART ATTACK EVERRRRR!!! The portions are HUGE and the prices are super cheap! The staff was friendly and accommodating! The food was yummy!!
Tried this place for the first time on vacay because they stated they had fresh green Chile and Im a Chile lover being from New Mexico and all. It was a small little diner downtown with about 10-12 tables and also with counter seating. I ordered the huevos ranchos of course with their green chile on the side in case I did not like it. This included beans and potatoes on top of a flour tortilla with sour cream, lettuce and tomato. The green Chile had a little kick but not what I am used to, and it lacked a lot of salt. For the most part the meal was ok but I probably wouldnt order this again. We also ordered the French toast and that was really good. The diner seems to keep their door open which lets in flies and it was a pain trying to eat and shoo them away. This would be another reason I probably will not return. Service was good and waitress was nice, as well as the price wasnt too bad. Your choice if you want to give it a try but I dont recommend. If you read my review please hit the like button. Thank you.
Cute little diner in downtown Durango. Breakfast all day and pretty extensive diner food menu. Quaint place with only a few tables and a l o n g counter. The food and service were good and prices reasonable. And its worth mentioning that the fries were freshly cut, hot and awesome!
