👎 any school with an angry white males studies course doesnt deserve to exist. what a shame
We deliver for door dash and some of the orders are near the university.
Very beautiful college, the museums are super fun
Central location in town, fit the most part. Semi friendly staff, classes are generic, all sororities and fraternities both seem to have reputations around town. Seems like a decent enough school, lots of home town pride.
"angry white male studies" yall are barely breaking a decent graduation rate I now see why..... 🗑️🗑️
What a disgrace this state funded school has become. Time for the legislature to defund this place and for private donors to see this place for what it is, a mess.
Uncrowded. Easy to transfer to other bus routes at the Union. Beautiful location.
O studied there. At KU.Many years ago. Chemestry. 1970~73. Was a beautiful time. I am now at Venezuela. Am 73.
Worked there 14 years. I loved my work and duties but not a nice place to work as far as quality of people. Should have stayed in banking. Money is not everything.
Beautiful school with great students. I love this town of Lawrence, there are many delicious food and wonderful people!
I just graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelors in History and am very satisfied with my general experience with the college. As a veteran that doesnt even live in Lawrence, my experience is going to be somewhat unique to the general student body. I drove in everyday and attended classes. This figurative and literal journey was both a struggle and a breeze. It took a lot of hard work. The staff, professors, and student body at the University of Kansas makes that journey worth the effort.
KU teaches a world class, liberal and creative arts curriculum, taught by Juilliard and Northwestern alumni. It boasts excellent schools of education, journalism, law, medicine and music in the state. Its merely 30 minutes from Topeka or Kansas City, but who needs to go anywhere? The city of Lawrence has everything and closer to campus. As a former Jayhawk and Hashinger Hall screamer, this university is a gem in an otherwise barren wasteland of wheat, repugnant republiCANTS and the Koch brothers whose influence from Wichita seeps and festers in the alt right rhetoric. In the 70s, KU was known as the Berkeley of the Midwest. rock, chalk Jayhawk, KU!
My family and my daughter went to this university. This university gave us a great impression, a great school. We are so happy when our daughter is studying at this university!A surprisingly large school!!! Too surprised! And thats great!
Took 4 years of my time and charged me $10,000 a year in exchange for the opportunity to pay excessive costs for mandatory books I never used and semester long subscriptions to the online portals that taught the entire curriculum and graded the homework on behalf of the professors. 3/5, probably wouldnt go back... however if you like construction, hills, going broke and wind, its the perfect place for you!
Youth football camp is awesome. My son went this year and if all goes well Next year and the next.. Coach Les Miles is the man!
My brother goes here, lovely school and hes always seem excited to go here.
Needless to say, my company can’t and won’t use our media equipment in buildings with multiple leaking roofs or flooded offices, specifically in Robinson Hall. My organization was hoping to film several marketing videos for the university today as per the many conversations we’ve had with the Kansas University marketing department. Shameful, considering how much money the university exploits from their student body—their underage athletes bring in multimillions of dollars every year from their basketball team, and are never reimbursed. Kansas University recently built ‘crystal castle’ of a “petroleum” building, but can’t maintain their most basic facilities. Sad
Lots of scholarship and fellowship opportunities available. Best school for international students, mostly masters or phd, if u like the calm life in Lawrence.
Killer University Hospital. If your child is in college and needing care, do not trust KU will do the bare minimum because you are paying them. Not every staffer, nurse or doctor can be trusted to do their job. Everyone that was suppose to care for my 22 year old failed. He Died. My son is dead. HE had Insurance and his Girlfriend begged them for Five (5Days, yet they were ignored THEM BOTH until he, a healthy football player died. He was black and his Girlfriend was a White Registered Nurse. After he died, I realized all of them was too lazy to even document his care. Dr. ASHLEY Bennett gave my son a high five every morning, but made no documentation as he allow his staff to Kill My Baby. He did one (1week before his Little Brother High School Graduation. As he laid dead, Everyone kept saying "You are Lucky Hes at KU.." Dont Believe the hype. They Destroyed our Family because they did not feel like Working
Theres like 1 left handed desk on this entire campus and its not even in a single class I take. Absolutely no way to get comfortable enough to take a solid nap through my 3 hour lecture. 5 stars, otherwise.
Great University! Awesome campus with great students and atmosphere. Only downfall is the hills to class but definitely worth it. If you’re into sports this is also a great school for you
One of the most beautiful universities in Kansas (yes, I know the quality of education is more important). I came here for some friends graduation some years ago and it was packed full of people! I liked the atmosphere here.
Proudly flying a defaced American flag in America should prevent you from receiving federal funding. Until that happens, a bunch of 1 star reviews are coming.
Going to school here is awesome!!! This is my last year, and I am going back home to Colorado. Kansas is OKAY, I like KU but, the rest of Kansas sucks!!
I loved going to this school! The campus is amazing. It seems huge but all of my classes were on the main campus so I did not have to rush across to the other side. The bus system is great because it’s free to students and almost always on time. All the faculty, staff and drivers I interacted with were very nice and caring towards their students. The campus is well kept and very rarely had litter on the ground. The traditions were what made the experience. You felt like you were apart of something bigger which made it feel more welcoming! They have so many degree programs and great clubs. Would recommend this school to anyone! RCJH
Having a good quality education and an awesome culture, University of Kansas is beyond good and awesome.
By far the most prestigious Kansas university with a wide range of undergraduate and graduate class offerings.Lawrence offers an excellent college town backdrop with the university serving as the backbone of the town. Great art & music scene as well.
My senior year here at KU has just begun. The only thing I’m disappointed with is the fact that I have to graduate and will no longer get to live in Lawrence KS and walk through the beautiful campus daily. Forever a Jayhawk, ROCK CHALK!!!!
KU is my alma mater and its an outstanding school. Best experience of my life.Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
Lawrence is so beautiful! And MY is equally so. The campus has an interesting mix of buildings both old and new. My husband and prior generations of his family went there because of positive experiences and the terrific academic programs. Sports, extracurricular activities and friendliness of students and staff attract both Kansas students and ones from all over the world.U of Ks has excellent Art and Natural History Museums. The Union is the center of many activities, eating places and bookstore. It is a friendly place with parking.Allover,my KU experience was extremely positive. Rock Chalk,Jayhawk!
Absolutely gorgeous campus, fantastic professors, and a world class education. Continually produces students that lead not only in their Kansas communities, but also on the global stage. In addition to that, the faculty and staff at this school truly care for your well being. If challenging yourself to be the best version of yourself is something youre interested in then this is the university for you. Rock chalk!
Outstanding experience, very pretty campus, vibrant downtown.
I love it. The atmosphere is so young and alive. The people and students are very kind and welcoming. Im definitely coming back.
You are a corrupt inept organization.Stop it with the destruction of Conservative views. You liberal elitist bastards cant have it your way so you have to destroy others views.I am starting a campaign to remove every cent of funding to your so called institution.
My grandpa went to school here so my brother and I stopped to check out the campus. It has a very beautiful campus and the buildings have a very cool style. And as my Grandpa would say it is the only Hill in Kansas. They had a visitor center but we did not see it with great detail. We did take a picture by the sign.
I attended the University of Kansas for one year and was very sorely disappointed with my whole experience (needless to say, I also am now a year behind). KU seemed to operate themselves more as a business with an eye for money. Throughout my schooling there, I received a relatively poor education taught primarily by TAs who seemed to want to focus on other things and not the class. I also ended up having over five advisors, with no notice of the change, making it very confusing and leaving me to navigate my first year of college alone. The longer you attend, the more you will see how they try to suck as much money out of you as possible. The cost of fees are higher than any other college I have seen, they give hundreds of students to just one advisor (cuts down on employment costs), and you feel as though students who are not athletes (not making the school a lot of money), are left to bite the dust. I ended up deciding to transfer out of KU to Arizona State University, which I found is much better school educationally and in value. If you want a better local option, take a look at Kansas State University, they offer many of the same degree programs and I have heard the quality of education is good.So if you couple the fact that the education is poor, the university seems to care more about your money than anything, and that there are better options than KU, I can see no reason why you would want to attend this university.
Im not sure how the other KU schools are, but the School of Engineering is poorly organized and unhelpful to students. The classes are taught by TAs and Adjuncts that would rather research than teach. The Computer Science program is not only out of date, but forces the students to only use Linux Fedora, not because it is an industry standard or helps students learn valuable skills, but because its free and saves them a significant amount of money. Even though I pay an extra fee per credit hour for these classes. There are some great professors, but they are unfortunately overshadowed by the Universitys poor structure, penny pinching ways, and stubborn refusal to spend money on anything but sports (basketballand appearances (lawn, mainly. Some of the dorms still have 20 year old window units).
Ive studied at a few colleges, but have an incredible sense of nostalgia for KU. I have a B.A. in English and a masters in Education from there. Im not a sports fan and very independent minded and had no problem making friends and finding a place there. I learned so much there and was always treated well by the administration and professors. I loved hiding out in the stacks of Watson library and not emerging until I could study no more and then there were so many things to do in the evening. Free State Brewery has the best beer in the world! And Lawrence has an incredible music scene, and most everything is in walking distance.
I cant imagine going to school anywhere else. The best decision ive made was coming to Lawrence to study at The University of Kansas.
Youll notice all the positive reviews tend to focus on the basketball program, and there is definitely a reason for that. I grew up as a KU fan for my whole life, living only 30 minutes from Lawrence, but the school has nothing on Kansas State, if you are between these two(as many are), KSU is the better choice for most:Pros:- incredible basketball program, a game in Allen Fieldhouse is truly an experience you will not find anywhere else in the country, best place on earth to watch a game in my opinion. Mix that with a storied, perennially competitive program, and its an amazing place to be a fan.- Excellent medical school, bar none the best medical school in the state, probably in the entire Midwestern US.- Very solid business school, nothing incredible, but itll get the job done.- Beautiful campus, its a big place, and has a lot of hills, but I think the landscaping and scenery around KU is great.- Lawrence, Lawrence is great, thats all there is to it, on the other hand, Manhattan is too.Cons:- Expensive, KU has a reputation for being more expensive than other state schools in Kansas, and its one it has earned, they also dont give as much financial aid as KSU, others.- Atmosphere, you get the feeling on KUs campus that no one really cares for you, the school does not go out of its way to welcome students and lots of kids from the nearby Johnson County area attend KU and often already have a friend group and it can be hard to make friends.- Administration, KU does not make themselves accessible for students, they dont frankly care about your experience as long as you continue to pay your bills, and they dont hide that fact well.- Other academic, KU is not a bad academic school, but if you are looking for engineering or other STEM track degrees there are better choices. Medical is their best program easily. Conclusion: Kansas is a solid school with a great basketball program in a good college town, however, it suffers from the apathetic approach that it seems to take towards its student body. All in all, not a friendly school, they dont care if youre there, and unless youre a med student, you can do just as well elsewhere academically.
My situation provided me with some perspective that most other students didnt get. I spent two years at Fort Hays State University competing in athletics when I decided to give that up and concentrate on academics. I transferred to KU with the understanding that I was going to get the best education in the state. When I went up there to enroll, I felt like a second class citizen. Since I didnt start at KU, people treated me like I wasnt good enough to go there in the first place. I expressed a desire to take astronomy and was told that it would be too tough for me because it required math (Im now an engineer and graduated with honors). While that hurt, I took their advice.Next, I found out that 29 credit hours from Fort Hays wouldnt transfer. When I went to the administration office to find out why, they said that they commonly dont accept transfer credits from less-demanding junior colleges. Fort Hays is NOT a junior college. My class experience wasnt any better. Two of my teachers were some the snarkiest people Ive ever met. It wasnt uncommon for them to humiliate one or two students in class for no apparent reason. I was raised to show respect for my teachers, referred to one of them as "sir" during a class discussion, and he made a sarcastic joke about the military because of it. Something about being too smart to be a drill sergeant. On top of that, the classes were the easiest I had ever had. I was pretty frustrated that I spent the highest tuition in the state for classes that required no critical thinking.Socially, I fit in pretty well. It didnt take long to find a group on friends. But people didnt make eye contact and smile or greet strangers like they did at Fort Hays. Also, a lot of people smoked.I decided I had enough and wanted to transfer out and go back to Fort Hays. Of course they charged the highest transcript fee I had ever seen, because KU is more of a business than an education institution.I finished out at Fort Hays. FHSU took all of KUs credits and worked to apply those credits to my major. I learned way more at Fort Hays than I ever would have at KU.To sum this up, Ive gone to Barton County Community College during high school and a summer, Deakin University in Australia, KU, Fort Hays - where I graduated with honors in Media Studies, and K-State - where I graduated with honors in Mechanical Engineering. As a school, KU was easily the worst. Both Fort Hays and K-State are much better. Fort Hays is the best value for your money, and K-State has the best atmosphere. In my experience, the only thing KU has going for it is Lawrence. Lawrence is a nice place.Do yourself a favor and review these school ratings here on Google. Also, see if schools are docked because of athletics and completely ignore those reviews. Unless of course you are a star athlete and are only using college as a springboard to the pros. Good luck in your college search.
THE school to go to in the state of Kansas with a degree seeking program for just about everyone. Home to one of the blue blood basketball programs, its our bread and butter. Make sure to catch a game here if youre even remotely a fan of the sport. The is great too with so much to see and do, and being a half hour away from Kansas City gives you even more options.
Yes, its a great town to be in... but KU is a business, not a school. They have successfully built a school that cares more about taking your money than anything else. If you expect something to change or get done, good luck. KU parking and Transit is one of the most pathetic excuses for a parking department. Some teachers really are amazing and like I said you cant beat the going out scene but do yourself a favour, find a school that at least shows even a it more interest in your well being.
The greatest school in Kansas! Has one of the best basketball programs!
I am sorry to say this, but my time in Lawrence was greatly disappointing. The campus is very, very hilly and treacherous during ice and/or snow. The dorms are in need of updating and need a lot of help. Many students are friendly, but many are also stuck up Johnson County/Country Club kids. Also, football season was boooring. I grew up in a "football town" and it had more spirit than all of Lawrence. It left a lot to desire and made me tempted to visit Manhattan just for the atmosphere of a real college football town. The good - Basketball Season and Allen Fieldhouse.
A good solid education. People are friendly, but many of the students already know each other from high school and it can be difficult to get into their circles. However some of the regulations are absurd and without a real purpose. The housing office is also a real pain to deal with. They do not care about the students expierence in the residency halls or scholarship halls but rather about the precious contracts and rules which make you go in circles to accomplish something. It is a poor way of trying provide a quality experience to their customers (us the students)
A wealth of opportunity and good times can be found and explored here. Negative reviews that you read lack any real feedback and are most likely just bitter or haters to begin with. The campus is beautiful and Lawrence itself is full of diversity, live music, great restaurants, and of course Jayhawk basketball.
If youre thinking about a postdoc here, prepare to be jerked around.I cant file for benefits, get paid, or do anything until Im "in the system" as they put it, and I have no idea how long this will take. Ive asked but the staff is somewhat unresponsive. Ive talked to some postdocs where this has taken over a month. I dont even have a swipe card to get into by building. Everything here seems to take forever. At my last university it took less than a day to get into the system, get an ID card, and get benefits. Also no one seems to know if postdocs are eligible for student loan deferment, Ive been sent on a hike from office to office to find out. All day walking around yesterday and still no answer.
It was a great experience living 4 years in the Scholarship Halls. Kansas is truly a unique community to become a part of and I am proud to be an alum. Allen Fieldhouse is truly a hallowed place for basketball - the atmosphere is insane and you wont find a better student section anywhere else in the country.
Great public university with outstanding academics and campus life. Doesnt hurt that they have one of the best basketball programs in the country.
