Stopped in with the work crew. The chips and salsa were less than impressive. We ended up tipping our waitress after reviewing the menu and dining elsewhere.
Very good food, but expensive!
Food is Fantastic. Never a dull moment with their food, the owners, their children and their staff. They are WONDERFUL. Sr. Juarez. Dont ever change your menu and the preparation of the food.
Nothing special regarding the food here.
Small Place. Excellent Service and the food was great.
Excellent enchiladas and friendly service. Look forward to going back to try other things.
After working in the yard all day I didnt have time to make supper for my family in from New Jersey. We decided to order from El Mariachi.. it was 7:45 pm & it was a huge take out order. We called it in & by the time we drove from Drums to pick up the order it was just coming out of the kitchen. Everything was delicious and there was plenty for 6 people including 3 hungry teenagers that eat non stop. If you havent been here, please make it a point. You wont be disappointed.
Food was so delicious the restaurant is so clean very joyful to eat there prices are not bad good meal try it sometim❤️💜💚💙
Great home made food very authentic Mexican cuisine
Best Mexican food in Hazleton, go there once a week. Get the salsa Verde if you like spicy stuff, tastes great.
Best food, great service, good prices…No complaints!
Food and service were wonderful. If your looking for a little authentic Latino food, you won’t be disappointed.
Food was very tasty. I think it was a bit on the salty side, but I left feeling full and quite happy. I had the grilled chicken platter and I didnt have room left to finish the pork quesadilla I had ordered.
Tasty food at good prices. I got the red chicken enchiladas. Salsa and homemade chips included at beginning very tasty. Could have been slightly spicier but good flavor.
Used to visit this restaurant some years ago when still on Alter St. We loved the food, oh my!! Delicious! Dimitri could see us from the little kitchen and immediately knew my husband wanted Chile rellenos! It was always wonderful!! I’d usually get the ribeye steak with sautéed onions, melted cheese, etc. Always delicious as well. Very sweet family and children. We moved to California a few years or so, then back to PA. Tonight was our first trip to the restaurant at its “new” location. Totally different experience!!! We could barely understand our waiter he barely spoke and almost a whisper! We both had the ribeye dinners. On mine the ribeye was over cooked and chewy, onions way undercooked, and no melted cheese, only a slice of cold cheese sitting next to the steak! Yuck! I asked the waiter when he finally checked on us if they could melt the cheese on the steak and he just looked at me and said Ohh I don’t know…. and just stood there saying nothing then walked away! So I only ate s few bites of that entire meal. No thanks. Not worth eating. SO different from Alter Street days!!! What a shame. Sorry Dimitri! We still love you but not the food or the staff or the new location! Hope it goes better for others than it was tonight for us!!
This spot is AMAZING!!! The cuisine is real authentic Mexican. The place was clean, warm and welcoming. The food was to die for. I had to order seconds! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I cant wait to go back!
Great food, very friendly owners and employees, fast service and pleasant atmosphere. Will be returning
Great food and friendly service! Don’t waste time with any other Mexican restaurants in town. This place is the best!
Had the soup of the day on Saturday and it was SO delicious. Our waiter was also attentive and courteous.
really good food!
First time ordering from this place and it was the worst experience Ever in hazelton. You get better service on those food trucks than here.I placed an order for $50 + of food in the January 17 th snow storm. When I got there I was told I didn’t place an order there. Then after going back in and repeating what my order was to the different people they finally gave me a bag to go. I get all the way back home and food was missing no apology no credit back on my card for going through the inconvenience of coming back out in the storm through their fault.Just horrible and very unprofessional to then hand me my bad of missing food without as much as one word.
Every single item has been completely AMAZING !!! crazy fast too. We live 40 minutes away and we have become regulars making the trip weekly because it is so above all the rest!!!
Had 2 workers playing rock, paper, scissors (Best of 2 out of 3to see who was going to seat us. Thanks but no thanks.
1-10 do not recommend their tacos tasted like dog food and then i almost got sick when I got home their drinks tasted decent I guess but the food is really bad The customer service there is horrendous you are overly rude its a 20 minutes for two tacos unbelievable
Food was excellently prepared and the portions were generous enough. I ordered the seafood soup and beef fajitas. The soup was enough for a meal itself and had a great variety of seafood, was well seasoned and delicious. I ended up taking home the majority of my main dish. Fabuloso!
We ordered Enchiladas, 4 tacos ( Canitas, Carne Asada, chorizo, and Spicy Porkwith rice and beans. The best was the chorizo taco, spicy pork taco, Enchiladas and the rice. I would go back and get any of those. For the worst the carnitas where dry, Carne asada had no flavor, and the beans had zero seasoning like they just got boiled out of the can and where served. I was disappointed because at 1st glance the rice and beans look delicious but then when you eat the beans it ruins the whole meal being satisfying. If I could suggest anything I would say marinate the Asada better, season your beans or add meat to them, and have the staff look more professional with matching uniform or t shirts.
I find it very disrespectful when you have a time posted to close like 8pm but these guys dont answer the phone starting at 6pm? How does that make sense? if you dont want to work past 6pm then change your schedule accordingly, horrible service, rude and to be honest El panchito is better and they actually answer the phone.
Good portions prices and flavors, mole was good but the chicken was a bit dry imo. Will definitely be giving another dish a try soon.
Very disappointed. Been coming to this restaurant since they first started on alter street. But todays interaction was beyond ridiculous. I place an order at 6:43 and im told they have an hour wait which i agree on waiting for. I go to pick up my order at 7:45 and they young guy who attended me tells me to wait 5 more minutes which i do. Five minutes pass and then im approached by the owners daughter and she tells me i never placed an order to which i responded with showing her the phone call, she then proceeds to check the caller id and confirms that i did place an order but that there was nothing she could do for me because it was already too late. I dont tend to leave negative comments on any restaurant unless its something ridiculous like what happened today.. i hope you guys change for the better because the food is awesome.
We came here since it was the first one that popped up on Google when I searched and it was totally worth it! I am from Ohio and I definitely recommend coming here the food was so good and even though we walked in before close the staff was still super friendly and I could not be happier with the experience here!!
Really good food the service was great and the environment was calm recommend to family and Friends.
Food was great. We ordered enchiladas with mole sauce, sooo tasty! Service could be slow but the waitress was very friendly and polite.
Made fresh daily. Always great service. Authentic. Best food around.
Simply, good tasty Mexican food!
Seafood soup is awesome a part from that .....service is a take what u can get sometimes u get great service other times horrible......all I can say go there ready to stand for a bit on a busy day......but other than that like a said seafood soup best hangover cure.....trust me wont regret if u have a hangover...... other than than hit and miss on service
We were traveling north on I-81 and googled this place at random. An amazing ribeye with sauteed onions rice and beans. My wife said it was probably the best tasting ribeye it ever had. I had the torta with fries, it was fantastic. This place is so good that a week later as we were traveling west on I-80, we diverted 6 miles out of the way to Hazleton just to come back to this restaurant again. A perfect steak and torta a second time. I cannot recommend this place to Highway. The food is amazing and the prices are good.
Great food, great service. Did wait for the check. The server was nice and always made sure we were okay with food and drinks. I had the lengua tacos, tamales and tres leches cake. The only thing I didnt care for were the chips with the salsa, they were pretty hard to bite into.
I am little confused because this place has really great reviews. But I was shocked first because I got "rice a roni" from a box on my plate with my taco. My quesadilla looked like my taco as well and neither had any cheese. Service was great. Place was very clean. Drink selection was limited. They did have soda but no iced teas. My boyfriend enjoyed his burrito maybe I just ordered the wrong things.
Delicious. I was worried after reading some negative reviews. The guacamole was super yummy. My experience was the rice was nOt ricearoni (as noted in a negative reviewand I was not expected to pay for additional chips (again, noted in a negative review). The service was friendly. The place was clean. I would recommend it and if ever going through hazleton again I know where to go for some good food!
I’ve been to Mexico 3 times & this restaurant is the most authentic Mexican food offered in the area. Owned by an awesome tight knit family. My favorite is the combination platter, rice beans with tostada and tacos or the quesadillas. Always fresh and consistent flavors. Can’t forget the tamarindo drink!
My family was traveling and we’re excited to find a Mexican restaurant with good reviews. We were thinking it was a great choice when we arrived to find it was in an old church. However it went downhill from there. We asked about cheese dip (white Mexican cheese dipand the waitress seemed stunned. We always get cheese dip for chips when we get Mexican. We never received the dip and after reading the menu learned they only had nacho cheese. For my family of 6 we were given two small baskets of chips which my 6 year old devoured quickly. When my wife asked for more chips were we’re told the baskets were $2 each. I’ve never seen a Mexican restaurant where I had to pay for extra chips. The menu was difficult to read and written mainly in Spanish. We finally located And ordered quesadillas for our family and plain for our kids. My kids like their food plain. (Chicken and cheese)and we made it clear to the waitress. When the food arrived about 30 minutes later the quesadillas were covered in sour cream. I’ve never waited more than 10-15 minutes for food at any of our local Mexican restaurants. Our family was very disappointed with the experience.
I love their new place. I should say it was cold here though. When I went the service was very slow for how little guest there was but overall I was happy with how my food tasted. The photo below shows the Mexican hot chocolate I ordered.
The food is the best and has been for 20 plus years... my favorite Mexican restaurant (authentic)... many menu items to choose from... and the new location is spacious and welcoming... plenty of parking. Highly recommend that you should plan a visit.
If you want the best Mexican cuisine in town come down to El mariachi. Always fresh great quality ingredients, great service and the staff is always super friendly ... Enjoy
I just moved back to the area from Albuquerque so you can imagine Ive had some really great Mexican food. A friend of mine had to go to the DMV and asked me to give him a ride and he turned me on to this place. I was a little worried when I left Albuquerque that I would never find good pozole again but they really knocked it out of the park. They also had lengua and I had some tacos that were amazing. Its definitely a little hole-in-the-wall but super authentic and I highly recommend it.
My daughter didnt like the food, but I thought my Burrito was very tasty. The service was great. Not in the best neighborhood, and the place is a bit run down inside. Otherwise good, as long as you stay away from the kids quesadilla.
All of the food is delicious! But....the chicken tortas was amazing and dont even think about leaving without a piece of cheese cake!
The food here is delicious! The guacamole and chips started off the meal perfectly, and the nachos for the main course were fantastic. The portion sizes were large and generous; also, the ingredients were fresh and of a high quality. The service was amazing, the wait staff were conscientious and attentive. Juan is the best! Go eat here, you will not be disappointed.
Really really good food here! Dont let the building facade fool you to skipping out. Food tastes fresh and cooked to order. Seems quite authentic. Kinda wish i had lunch there yesterday now that i think of it lol.
Stopped in during a trip thinking it was part of a chain - it is not but I really enjoyed the food. It is a small place in a poorer section of town. Very authentic food and low cost that seems to target the local ethnic population. Very friendly staff. I will try to stop here for lunch again when traveling through here.
