Gerrity's Supermarket Inc in Lackawanna County

I have been shopping at garritys for over 12 years but I dont know what happened with this new company thats joined garritys; but the chicken breast in the meat section looks bad every time I go in there anymore, what happened? Do you guys have a new company delivering your meat cuz the chicken breast is awful now! It was never like that I used to love shopping there but everything is so expensive in there compared to other stores and the chicken breast is awful.

I always enjoyed shopping here at the Meadow Ave store, instead of Shoprite. Now, unfortunately, it has changed over to the Shoprite brand. I think the Best Yet brand of Gerritys was much better. Disappointed.

I have been shopping at this store for decades, and wow, has it gone downhill since their conversion to "The Fresh Grocer" 11 days ago. Prices are up across the board, and by a lot, when you can actually find the item you are looking for. They dont have much in the way of groceries in the store; lots and lots of empty shelf space which is far beyond the supply chain issues that are still occurring. This is more like Soviet Block countries or some post-apocalyptic nightmare. Yet there are hoards of workers taking the few items left off the shelves and repositioning them elsewhere. These folks consistently block the aisles and dont care that paying customers cant get to items. I stopped in a few days ago to get a loaf of bread and a can of chicken broth. The cheapest bread they had was the new store brand of white and it was $2.49 for a normal size loaf. There was not 1 single can of chicken broth to be had in the store. Empty shelf space and one large carton of an overpriced brand of chicken broth. Although I only live a few blocks away, I am going to have go elsewhere. Such a shame, as they had a good reputation for treating their employees well and being good community members.

Since they switched to fresh grocer its a mess during this transition.

They have everything I need. Their prices seem competitive. The fruit and prepared food is quite acceptable

Thought because they looked packed itd take forever, However we were in and out and the fella that checked us out was very kind. Highly recommend shopping here!

Great produce, meats, bakery, especially the pies and deserts. Great meals in deli and fresh meats and cheeses. Overall good food choices in whole store 😋 👌 🤓

Gerritys is a local supermarket located in Scranton PA. It is well stocked with a large produce section and wonderful bakery area. Staff is friendly. Free parking but the parking lot is very busy.

I went to get doughnuts from the cabinet glass place near the entrance and there was flies on the doughnuts. Where you buy the dinners at food was dried up. Like you have to mix it every now and then. The one in moosic is much cleaner and the food looks like the stir it often

Meat prices are really high..expected to spend about 80.00 and actually spent 190.00....but the people that work there are nice...fruit is also kind of high....2.49 a pound for apples is dear.....

Excellent prices. Clean I mean very clean. The people there are really friendly I dont ever hear anyone get chewed out. They have a good crew.

Ok but dont ask for a extra bag they will look at you crazy..lady said they would be mad at me if I gave you a extra bag but living in PA with stairs I think I need my juice to be double bag...little taken back by that

your store is huge I enjoy shopping there. However one of your employees almost ran me over with a buggy. She was a young girl without any manners whatsoever. First time I had an experience at garritys of this nature. The rest of the people were fabulous.

Like most Gerritys in this area the store is very clean and the employees are all friendly and helpful. They also have some of the best in store cooked food.

Garrity"s will always get five stars for it cleaness. Prices just as many others. Savings no so happy with it. Cashiers need to be more friendly.

These stores are all a little different from each other, but I can usually find what I need no problem. They are conveniently located and checking out has very little wait, if any.

Decent store for basic, really basic items. If your looking for specialized items like Ezekiel breads, a good international aisle, keto, natural foods, etc. I suggest going to Wegman’s or online stores. Again, just for basic every day stuff Gerrity’s is fine.

Visiting family in the area. What a great store. Got kielbasa and some kielbasa sticks pus a few other items. Wish I had gotten more before I left town. Only con was the store was very busy. That was good thing though.

This place has been consistently great for many many years. Nice employees and always an awesome selection of brands. A++

I have been shopping @ Gerritys for many years; mainly on Meadow Avenue.Convenient for me, less than 5 minutes away.

Scranton has a great grocery store in Gerrity’s. I found the associates to be helpful, polite, and willing to please the customer. Great store.

Staff was unfriendly. Horrible service. Poor quality meats. They have theft control people that behave obviously and obnoxious and ridiculous it’s not how you want your shopping experience to go. I understand having them but this guy with themustache and blonde from the 80s need to stop acting like everyone who walks in there needs to be stalked. Will never go to a gerritys again.

Most , but not all of the employees are pretty rude . The friendlier ones work at the deli dept and the ones who stock shelves are just downright miserableAnyway like I said most but not all. There is just a lot of negative energy when I shop there. Even the customers who go in there try to be annoying. As for the store itself it’s somewhat clean but not modern. The bakery is pretty good. They do not have a large selection of organic stuff as far as the fresh stuff but they do have a pretty good selection of organic juices. It’s a small store and people are always in the way and not kind about moving! They do not sell organic almond milk!!! It’s the same people working every day !

I am 66 years old and have seen it grow from a corner meat market to what it is today. Joe would be proud of the way Niels family has grown it. I just love going their.

As usual the staff was very courteous and attentive, getting me in and out quickly with my box of chicken from the deli department...BEST CHICKEN IN TOWN

Gerrity’s is usually a great hometown grocery store but a recent visit changed my view…I witnessed an employee (seems to be a manager/co-managerwith long grey hair be extremely rude to an elderly patron. She was VERY demeaning and lacked ANY professional customer service. She went so far as to tear up a price tag in front of the customers face in front of everyone!! It was a DISGUSTING public display!!!I’ve since asked various friends who frequent the store about this employee and the common consensus is that she should be out of public service. It’s a real shame Gerrity’s has someone like that representing them!!

Always clean, usually stocked pretty well, employees are actually helpful and can guide you to where something is. Love their selection of meats and they have pretty good pastries as well.

I must say i have been shopping Gerritys since they opened. I always enjoy their bakery items however i got this loaf of italian bread and half of the inside had holes going through the entire loaf of bread.

Great service when looking for something you need and cant find food related.. The cashiers are always so pleasant and welcoming we all need that for our mental health" to feel good wile shopping and leaving: priceless" Thank you Gerritys 😊

Okay so its time for an honest report on an honest grocery store, out of all the local grocery stores each one has its own unique characteristics, Im a firm believer in supporting local small business, and this certainly is one of them, if you want good meats this is the place to go out of all the grocery stores, if youre looking for easy quick meals because you dont feel like cooking this is also the place to go where they have excellent priced to go meals that you could pop in the microwave or heat up on your stove or in the oven, local owners are very friendly Ive spoken to them many times, just all out convenient place to shop!

While you may find cheaper elsewhere, this Gerritys has such a friendly and helpful staff that I enjoy my visits. Whether it be their store brand frozen juice, their fair variety of deli meats and cheese, their salads, international snacks/seasonings/food, or even their really decent sushi selection (avoid anything with crunchy tempura in it unless its literally just placed there, otherwise its soggy), I typically always leave satisfied with my purchase. Five stars, for amazing service.

This business that we know and love as a Scranton hometown Supermarket, is one of the best businesses that i have so far had the pleasure of being apart of the family here at the Meadow Ave location. Chico is a fantastic store manager. Hes caring for customers and employees. When the hours dropped due too it being a new quarter, he explained that its happening too most, he started actively looking for hours for me, because i need the money. Sadly i do not make nearly enough money too let this continue. Im hoping that soon there shall be a full time position for me. I do not have an ego, or at least try not too, but i do believe i am one of the top hardest working employees. Most always i will come in if called. Even if it means i dont get a day off in two weeks or more. Im happy too oblige and earn more hours because they have choosen to call me of all the people. So i am so happy with this store and business. I love the family friendly atmosphere and hope it can continue to uphold that position. Thank you Gerritys for giving me a chance when i first moved here for a means of income. And thank you for keeping me this long. I do hope to continue working here for years too come. And hope that i can improve enough too get a raise worth continuing my career.

Food is overpriced and the hot food in the deli is grotesque at times. The cooked chickens they sell in the front are chewy and pink every time I have bought one. The little short manager guy is nasty to his employees...must be making up for his short comings I guess. Good deli meat tho. I’ll shop at Giant thank you very much

Decent store. Am not from the immediate area, but when near choose to make a trip here if anything needed. A good bakery if your looking for fresh items from scratch. Variety of products is a plus at this store.

Iys one of my favorite grocery stores. I came in this morning for chicken salad (my fave at this storeThe bakery smells were so inviting and yummy. The women on register are always very friendly and make you feel more like an acquaintance than a customer. The older lady with the Xmas light earrings is adorable! Im so glad I found this store

I only visited once. The bakery is OK. The selection of breads and parties was excellent. The deli selection was outstanding -- Gerritys offers pasties, which are very good. This is the first time that I have found pasties in PA. They were very good.Variety on shelves was excellent. If I lived here, I would look for a Gerritys.

The bakery here is absolutely wonderful! I had looked around at other bakeries for a baby shower cake, but Gerritys not only has the best tasting cakes in town, they could do what I asked and then some! I truly appreciate your team for making my sisters baby shower cake all the more special! Everyone loved the taste of it, and complemented the design. Thank you so much! :)
