The Reenactment was good but it was too hot and couldnt get any seats but other than that it was fine
Went to 155th July 8th. Amazing. Ive seen a lot of cool things, but wow, this was incredible! My young daughter and I really felt like a part of the action. It really has sparked a passionate interest and curiosity in the battle of Gettysburg, the Civil War, and American history in not only my daughter, but renewing it in myself. The reenactors were so lovely and friendly and helpful. We loved meeting them both at the reenactment and on the actual battlefields July `1-3. I cant say thank you enough to the people who worked to put it together and host and reenact this amazing experience and are looking forward to learning more! Thank you!
The battles were epic (except the union soldiers on their cell phones-FARB)...the rest of it sucked. Ive never seen an organization that profit off the deaths of so many soldiers. And, theyre so classy that they charge the reenactors...really??? They should be ashamed of themselves....ps- the man that portrayed Lee should hang up his hat. The real General would never been as arrogant as he was.
I attended the 155th reenactment. It was fantastic. Tons of stuff for kids. There is a narrator who explains exactly what is happening. Spend the extra money for bleacher seats. To all the volunteers who help put on this event, thank you.
Everything was great and already booked for next year
Will not refund Money if they cancel, do not buy tickets or deal with these people
I paid 12.99 to be able to watch a "live" streaming even on July 7th (the final day of battle and Pickets Chargeand that did NOT happen. The "live" event switched to recorded video and there was no way to get to a logon page to reconnect! Multiple emails have been sent to you and have been ignored! Just wanted everyone to know that, evidently, you think its acceptable to advertise an event that you are not capable of supporting when technical issues arise! I , for one, think it is NOT and would like to have my money refunded! You did NOT provide what was promised and where Im from thats called a SCAM! Shame on the GAC!
Thought the key note speaker was great. Yes, sometimes it is hard to hear and at times we may not understand all of the issues, but history and truth need to be told.Being the descendent of a confederate vet from Bexar County Texas, I thought the Natl. Park Service did a very good job, and will definitely go back.
My mother and father attended the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg battle on June 30, 2013. They were severely offended by the keynote speaker Doris Kearns Goodwins rendering the solemn ceremony into a political event. Her comments were completely out-of-line and offensive. Our family has answered the call to serve our country since the Revolutionary War. Leaving our family farms in the hands of our wives and children while we were in service to our nation, frequently returning home without limbs. Now, your selection of Doris Keams Goodwin as the keynote speaker did a disservice to our nation as a whole. We will never return the Gettysburg because the disgraceful comments by the keynote speaker can never cure the pain we feel in our hearts.
