Golden Corral Buffet & Grill in Effingham County

Waitress staff was super friendly yet professional. I arrived near closing time so food options werent as hot or being refilled at that time like earlier shifts would.

Food is tasty and fresh. Good prices but not enough attention to cleanliness at the food stations.

Went during lunch and there wasnt much food once it finished they took a while to replenish. There wasnt much selection seems like it was mostly chicken. They did have a huge salad bar and desert bar but not much food.

Setting aside my dislike for buffets open food self-serve swarm we decided to try Golden Corral. These places are always crowded. The varieties of food were decent ,hot. Our server Gladys was sweet.

It was crowded, food was running out, very little workers cleaning and refilling. Food was good but thats about it I wish I would have been better.

Way less options than i anticipated, however the rotation was on point. Fresh food coming out consistently. My first time here & i had a good experience. Your regular school lunch/comfort dishes. Nothing to write home about, but you can’t go wrong with a buffet when you can’t decide on what to eat.

Honestly deserves 0 stars. Food was okay but the waiter gave neither of us any refills the entire time we were there. I try to tip graciously but when you have a waiter who does nothing at all, they get nothing. Disgusting.

Golden Corral will always be a all time favorite. You get EVERYTHING. Price is a little high but still kind of reasonable. If you want the best tasting food hot and ready to serve I suggest going at peak hours.

Went there yesterday party of 10 so will you know the bill was high. Kids running around everywhere manager didnt seem to care. The place had a lot of seniors so was a little dangerous for them. Also they couldnt keep up with the restocking of food if Im going to pay almost $19.00 I want a little more than salads everything was a 30-minute wait for restock this location is very poorly managed.

Went for my mother in law’s birthday and the food was great and we had a little area to ourselves 😁 definitely returning here!!!!

The food is great. I have been here so many times. Today was the first that not even a busy day, the server is not helpful. We asked her for our drinks more than 3 times and she didnt bring anything. I understand when its busy but horrible service.

The customer service was adequate considering how busy they were. Friendly table servers and the food was good!

My son and I really enjoy this place. Very clean, food is delicious, and staff is very friendly. We eat here every other Saturday for our mom n son date.

Very good makes all other locations look bad. This place was clean, food fresh and delicious, smiling staff, even clean bathrooms. Please train the other stores to do what u do.

Cuisine was pretty good, nothing spectacular. Chef prepared my steak to my liking. Fried chicken was seasoned and fried by a pretty good cook. I had a taste for onion rings but I didnt see any

Nice variety to choose from, but I loved my carrot cake and banana pudding for dessert. Am looking forward to my next visit already!

We held our family repast here. It was great outside of the ordinary but perfect. Waitress was super friendly, good food options, and tasted great. Thank you for hosting a large group and having a room soley open to us! Nice touched during an extremely difficult time for our family!

I’ve traveled a lot with my family and our go to place is Golden Corral. We’ve been to several but this place has to be up on the list on rankings. A clean and welcoming atmosphere and the food was great. Area were food was at was clean which we see rarely. Our waitress was okay we had mounds of dirty dishes on our table but she was preoccupied cleaning a table of people that had left. My cup was empty and I waited for her to past by finally I had to get up and find her. Other then that this place is great.

The food was amazing like always. The service was great. Are waiter was awesome nice guy.

I went on a Friday, it was busy but handled. Food was fresh, they kept renewing the food. No food trays went empty. A lot people work there, and a lot of people eat there

First time coming here was amazing wish I can forget the first moment I walked in and relive the moment again. Best buffet Ive ever been at. Better then Chinese buffet. Ive been going to different buffets across Illinois and these one is my number one go to!!

Everything was soooooooooooo salty!!!! Even the bread tasted salty what, you will mess around and have a stroke missing with this place. Im a steak guy so when they finally started serving steak i thougt that would at least be edible. NOPE!!! Not only was it over cooked dry and burnt to hell and back, it was also too salty. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!

I visited this place on Sunday evening.I was totally disgusted with the womens bathroom. This is a restaurant!!! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!!!Theres no way a bathroom should be that nasty 😷🤢🤢 I really wanted to leave. Since my husband had already paid for us to eat I stayed. The food wasnt all that good 😕 😐 totally disappointed. I will not be back at this location EVER!!!

It was nice for these kinds of places. Oh I will say the bathroom was clean for the most part but it was a tight space considering a restaurant this size. The food looked fresh tho and the selection was nice. Although I didn’t see any steak and only 2 or three baked potatoes out. Also the servers checked on us the first couple minutes and we were good, we didn’t need anything but come the middle of our stay they were nowhere around. I’m used to getting my own food at buffets but they lost the tip when they disappeared on us and didn’t listen or pay attention to our needs. They don’t have ice cream cones and I really wanted one. Idk if they even carry them but it sure would’ve been nice to leave with my treat like Ryan’s used to do. Over all I liked it and plan on going back! Hope u liked my review.😁👋🏾

At least 5 minutes to get silverware. Drinks was not replenished in a timely manner. Ill probably not come back to this location. The one in Joliet, Illinois is much better

I guess it depends on when you go your experience changes. This time I had a great experience...food was really good and fresh. Server was nice and friendly. Kept the tables clean and ask us if we needed anything else. Really nice to this time.

The workers at this location push past you to get by. I even watched a young man bump into a customer on purpose with his bus boy pan filled with dishes and uneaten food. Another worker (young ladyseemed to hide from customers who wanted a refill on their drinks.On a positive note, the manger genuinely wants everyone to have a good time there, he really tries.

You get a lot for your money. The food is delicious with a large variety to choose from. The employees are courteous

My husband n I go to eat there often. We live very close. At times its very crowded, specially on the weekends. Its clean, food is tasty but nothing to rave about. Service at the register and tables can b better. Its comfortable.

I like all the options. But pricey Holy cow for 2 adults and a 5yr old it was 60$I got this beef stew stuff but I only grabbed the meat from it that wat was left.. however it was so good and this grilled porkchop thing was pretty good too.

Went Here For Fathers Day With The Family Enjoyed Are Self Didnt Wait Long Like Other Golden Corral Location This One Here Is Worth Visiting. Food Was Good Service At The Table Was on point She Made Sure We Where Good And Came To Take Eatin Plates Off The Table And Soda Refills. We Will Definitely Come Again Shrimp And Steaks And Ribs Where Great As Well.

O.K. food. Some food rushed out not that flavorful. Need to work on Grill cooking. Pork chops were good, but steak hard and tough. Not tender at all.This location does not keep enough fried chicken on hand. Always have to wait for chicken. Very Chingy with the fried chicken. If you see thats what people like, you should never run out🤔For the price they charge, sodas should be included.

This was my first visit this establishment. I am not sure if they were understaffed, but the place was dirty(floors, tables and food stations). I understand it might be challenging to clean after guest.I had to get up 4x asking for utensils, the one employee on the floor, told me, I had to wait for my server to hand them to me (which I could not understand).As for the food, Im not sure if they have an opportunity to taste food before serving, but some was salty and other lack flavor. Staff are not friendly, they appear to be frustrated and unhappy to be working there.

Better quality than even my fondest memories as a fat kid at Old Country Buffet. Surprisingly good buffet-quality beef stew, shrimp, catfish, mac and cheese, rolls, fruit and many more choices I cant remember. Some items were unavailable our entire time there though, like most of the desserts. A lot of people were in line for their fresh-grilled steak. Ill try it again next time if its not as busy. Service was fair for our large group of 10+ including two babies needing high chairs. Bathrooms could use some work though.

Everything was clean good best one I have been too yet the wait staff that gets the drinks and clears the tables wasnt great but that was ok cause I just reduced the tip to 2 dollars. I have a family of 6 so I give 5 per family member and I along the wait staff to either work their way up or down. The 2 dollars were just to be nice cause we kept having to remove our dishes and get up to ask for drinks repeatedly

Normally get good service here from friendly waiters and waitresses. Not today. June 20, 2022. Today... Horrible nearly non-existant service. Got my empty cup filled with sweet tea once ... as dispencer in line wasnt working. They dont provide you knives anymore when you sit down and this time none were available anywhere. I guess we are to just rip apart the "steaks" with our fork and teeth. Asked for a refill, some mustard, and a knife from my "waitress". Patiently waited a half hour. Finally stopped her as she was hurrying past. She then told me they dont have mustard. She came back with a glass of ice tea but still no knife and quickly put it on my table and sped away without a word. Waitress spent all her time busing tables while the busboy just aimlessly walked around. Other waitresses spent their time checking out and socialing with the young male customers. Manager was nowhere to be found.

The place is good, but some people are so terrible. They waste so much food.

Love the food just need the employees or management to tend to the kids running around touching things putting it back. They are without parents I think it should be a little more stricter on policies with kids running loose. Other than that it will be a good place 2 go

Super fresh food and sooo tasty! Everything was clean and the help is so nice, there is a grand variety of food you can choose, Everything with excellent flavor and hot. The salard bar had a lot of fresh veggies. Only thing I couldnt find was a tea/coffe area but the boy who attended my table was super nice and got me hot water and tea. Beautiful place.

Service Great. Staff nice. Highly overcooked and under-seasoned food choices,, hot bar side.. Looks good, but just not hitting the spot. Although its all you can eat, I had 1 plate, one beverage, and one dessert. Very busy place this Sunday. They manage the crowd well. Saw a roach on the wall. Food needs some help.

It was horrible. The website said it closes at 8p.m.but they dont say doors close at 6p.m. People were cold and didnt have the patience to wait in line especially outside. It was a mess. I usually go to the one in Bolingbrook and just wanted to cut my trip short so I went to the one in Cicero. Bad idea. People out of control.The security guard did an excellent job trying to keep people under control. If not a fight would have broken out.People need to practice better dining out etiquette. What an evening. The food was good but by 7:30p.m. more steak was available. The staff remained calm and professional. Good job.

Pros: The food is well done, its very very good, waiters are very very friendlyCons: The lady at the front chubby is such a pain in the a** the waiters tell people to come when there are A LOT of empty tables and the chubby lady at the front tells the waiters not to sit people down and kept them in line AFTER they paid, LINE IS 30 MINUTES LONG dont expect to get in ASAPNORMAL: very noisy ofc because its a buffet its supposed to be noisyBut overall do recommend it is sanitary and clean! Great for family gatherings

I used to love coming to this part of town when old country buffet was open but when they closed I stopped coming. Now that golden corral has replaced it Ill never stop going to Cicero. The food is great and the staff are attentive. They have cotton candy from time to time and their steak is amazing.

Food tasted like it was just rushed to be cooked. A very, very noisy place.

Came here with my family to eat this week. As soon as we got inside the cashier was not friendly at all, no greeting, or any words spoken at all. After we were seated, we went to get our food, leaving the receipt on the table. No one ever came to sign it or even to say hello, so we had no idea who our waitress was. I needed a refill on my drink, leaving at the end of my table, after watching who I assumed was our waitress walk past our table five times without a word. I had to go back up front to the drink station myself to get my own drink. Like do I work here? No I sure do not, so why am I getting my own drink? If thats the case and how you train your employees, I expect a check in the mail! Then the waitress finally comes over, again no greeting, just yanks the plates off of the table without a word. Worst service ever!! Not even a hello or how is the food! You really need to hire better people to be waitresses, those who actually enjoy their job and serving people.

The breakfast, lunch & dinner food varieties are extensive. The free refillable guava/orange juice is outstanding. I would not recommend eating the Steaks here but everything else is excellent. The Salad Bar stands out in particular with 3 varieties of Lettuce, beets, shredded carrots, 6 Dressing choices and 3 fruit choices. The Bacon is very popular and runs quickly. The French Toast triangles are very tasty as are the Chicken Breasts. The swirl ice cream is very good. The Server was challenged by the number of tables ahe was assigned to and forgot our drink order and had to be reminded of the type of order twice.An overall very pleasant morning.

I love this place it very friendly the stuff are so kind the food was delicious. The service was so amazing and so professional with their service. The steaks are so good they will make a how are you wanted and the staff always make sure that the utensils that we use are always clean and before we get are food the stuff kindly ask us too put gloves on to protect the other people and all of the staff are all was wearing there mask on at all time. It a place were I will go again with my family and especially all of my friends.😀😀😁😁😁🥰🥰🥰🥰. Also all the people who cant eat sugar there are sugar free desserts that everyone one can enjoy 🥰🥰🥰🥰🍰🍰🍰🥧🥧

Officially the FIRST review for this actual location in Cicero, IL. Today, May 17 was the first day of operation. There was a long line to enter and surprisingly the line moved quickly. Staff was well prepared for the opening, no food missing everything was restocked fast. It was a full house at opening. As expected everything is New. But food was good and service as well. Let’s hope it stays clean and efficient as it was today. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!Prices have NOT double since Covid-19 my lunch price was $9.99 plus drink. Which is in line with pre Covid prices.
