Grampians Motel in Northern Grampians

What a beautiful location! The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room was very old and outdated and our bed wasn’t very comfortable but it was clean and cheap. We had dinner in the restaurant due to convenience, and the meal was nice. Not everything on the menu was available but what we got was very hot and tasty.We awoke to deer and kangaroos everywhere and were greeted by inquisitive cockatoos knocking on our window.Would definitely recommend but we would probably pay a bit more and get the upgraded room next time.

Beautiful view and so much potential. Rooms were dated and dingy. Toilets were fine but a total room revamp Id necessary.

Well lets start with the staff there are amazing and to be honest that doesnt sum them up enough what they did for me and my family no one else would do. They where so welcoming and helpful the food was amazing the new chef is a superstar even with my kids she was so good henley misses her already. And the new manger and her husband we could thank you enough really we didnt want to leave today we will be nick October so we look forward to seeing you guys then. honestly I hope more people visit your amazing place because ots definitely worth while finally a place where the view matchs the place and service amazing guys thank you again from Aaron taneika Nicole laylah and henley

You get what you pay for. Friendly service, clean room, a few km from the centre of town. Shower had amazing hot water and pressure. Bed was clean and comfy. I would stay here again.

The hospitality. The couple running the motel ensured we were happy and when our room had a wet floor and smell from the previous guests they gave us a bottle of wine, a fantastic meal for the two of us and a new room. The spa in both rooms was very nice and the views surrounding the motel are very beautiful. On top of that they have kanagaroos, emus and many birds that call the place home and are very friendly.

Echoing many reivews before, Im sure this was once a great motel, now just dilapidated considerably presumably through lack of income.Our biggest gripe - before we get to the cosmetic stuff - was that we booked 2 rooms for us and friends and ended up on opposite ends of the motel. Booking was made in Feb, but even assuming the motel was full - surely a shuffle could have been made as we saw many people staying on their own. It was requested and ignored.THE ROOM - number 28. Smelled of pisss, unsure if human or animal to be honest. Seemed to be coming from the aircon. No wifi password available, but previous reviews have suggested its very slow anyway. Curtain centre held up by 2 pieces of square pine, and check out the picture of the electrical floral arrangement behind the rooms. ZAPPO!Mould in the bathroom. Only one cup supplied. No washing up detergent. Replacement coffee cups had stains in them, the unwashable kind. Several other things noted at the time but now forgotten. As Basil Fawlty would say - otherwise ok? Yes. Service good and dining room food lovely. Just not enough to return.

Great location with amazing views.There are lots of kangaroos, emus and sulphur crested cockatoos that visit just behind the accommodation block. Staff are friendly and there is a restaurant and bar on the premises. We had food with us from camping and used the complimentary BBQ. There is a microwave and kettle in the room with glasses, mugs, plates and cutlery. They provide towels and an all-in-one conditioning shampoo shower gel. The deluxe queen room also has a couch and small dining table. Although some of the facilities a slightly dated, it didnt take away from the experience or the comfort. If you would like an affordable comfortable place near Halls Gap with one of the best views, Id highly recommend staying here! ☺️

My friend stayed at this motel, i must say i was very impressed, the staff were lovely, the room was clean and smelled very nice. The manager chatted with me telling me about the hardships she has faced with covid and staff which with today is more then understandable. But i just want to say that my friend and myself truly enjoyed our stay, loved the staff, the views, and how quite it was. I had the best time, also had dinner in their restaurant best meal i have had in a long time. Also chips were amazing, would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat. LOVED IT WILL BE BACK.

Really enjoyed our stay. Despite being short staffed we were well looked after. The food and staff at the restaurant were exceptionally good. Quiet position outside town with abundant wildlife.

I have to say I really enjoyed my time at the Grampians Motel where I spent several nights in a spa room and my son had a queen bedded room not too far from us. The motel is probably in need of some renovation but it is a place we dont hesitate to return and that we enjoy every time we stay (and thats about 4-5 stays so far)

Never again. Dead bugs on the floor, live bugs on the floor. Chipped and broken tiles galore in the shower. Shower leaks all over the bathroom floor. Noisy outdated air-conditioning. Cheap, flat pillows. Lucky the views are fantastic....

Views were breathtaking. Plenty of wildlife roamed the grounds - kangaroos , emus and cockatoos. Unfortunately though whilst the views are amazing the motel is a total letdown. Rooms are so dated and filthy. The place needs a total revamp. Showerhead was like being under Mackenzie waterfall. Bugs aplenty at night so dont forget the aerogard .Or better still just keep away.

Really friendly reception, room was clean and the views are spectacular.I booked here as it was well priced and it has the basic amenities.If you are an adventurous person like me and are out all day, this is the perfect place for your basic creature comforts.Bed was a bit hard so maybe take a topper or something if you have back issues, otherwise still slept well.Shower has excellent water pressure and if you have any questions reception are very helpful.

Staff are wonderful, shame restaurant is closed. Pool great. Rooms need a bit of a really good clean particularly shower but so short staffed and not a lot of income makes it difficult.

We absolutely loved the amazing views, rooms were tidy, no kitchenette but staff were happy to take dishes to clean for us. We got to feed cockatoos, pat a kangaroo, seen emus, loved the pool, although some shade would of been nice in the middle of the day. All the other visitors/guests were friendly and we met some lovely people. Great time had by all.

The view is phenomenal. Loved the pool. The shower head!!!!! The best.For me the room was a bit worn out and smelly (just smelt like an op shop). But we always take out own blankets and pillows to motels for this reason and didnt spend a lot of time in the room just sleeping. Staff, classic Aussie dead pan humour, loved it haha.TBH, I was expecting worse as the price was so cheap. Will probs return, might try a deluxe room next time.

OMG. Dont go there. Never to return. Dirty room. Old & dilapidated. Aircon like a 747. Bed of nails. No wifi. Manager disinterested. Left early to go elsewhere with no refund. Read ALL reviews before parting with your money! A hard lesson learnt.🙄☹

Location wise 10 stars,amazing views all around .. kids will love the cockatoos and kangaroos right in frontyard...accommodation wise 2.5 stars.. beds were not comfortable,fridge didnt work ..rooms were smelly and need maintenance for sure .. it has just very old look and facilities can be much better than what it is .. on the other hand restaurant and bar is great.

Rooms are ok for the price, just don’t expect much and all will be ok. View is nice though and the odd kangaroo.Restaurant is also a 3 star but they work hard.Apologies to the owner but need to be honest with my review.Happy New Year!

What a terrible place to sleep felt like in late 80s, seriously they need at least make some renovations or upgrades. The beds powerpoint unfunction both side, literally useless for heating blanket or lamp bed or charging phones, the toilet was disaster tbh, the facilities like air-conditioning and heater need some more attention and the cleanliness was terrible, dusty literally on top of the bed head to sleep, the pictures they posted are literally just for advertising pics

Drove all the way from SE melb (4 hr driveto see the grampians, booked this motel for accommodation to stay overnight. Lifted the sheets on the bed and found dead insects. Motel is overall old looking and could do with some renovation, however this is understandable according to the location. However, cleanliness really needs attention. Carpet was looking like it hadnt been vacuumed in years. Had spider webs in every corner of the room. Also had been told at the reception that the restaurant was closed for 2 days however this wasnt mentioned on their website prior to booking. Ended up returning the keys the same day and having to leave. Absolute waste of $100 as we didnt even end up staying.

When i saw the awesome view outside, was so excited. Kangaroos and deers were walking around, such a peaceful view. But inside was dirty and dusty. Looks like no one cleaned up in there for ages. Windowsill was covered in dead flies, fridge and surfaces covered in dust, dirty carpet. Even spoons were dirty, looks like no one cleaned it after previous tenant. Very disappointed, as it could be a wonderful motel, if only will be cleaned.

Very poor service to room. Stayed for four nights and rubbish only emptied once. Bed not made each day or bathroom serviced as other motels normally do. Not a motel I would recommend. One good point,the restaurant meals were good.

Very dirty accommodation, dust and dirt everywhere. Everything was a bit dated and rundown. The wifi didn’t work and we also didn’t have hot water for the last night of our stay. A bit tricky with 2 grubby kids.The views and access to wildlife were great, however the rubbish littered throughout the grounds were a turn off.

Dirty room ... build up of dust everywhere. No cutlery , only 2 small plates and ONE fork .. microwave was dirty, bedding is from the 70s , runners on side tables were dirty and stained .. shower had not been cleaned from previous people - someones used soap still in there and glass screen not cleaned .. WIFI did not work , no TV reception , owner was extremely unenthusiastic and somewhat rude .Definitely wont be staying here again which is sad because the view and surroundings are BEAUTIFUL ...

The experience was good, nice staff, lots of kangaroos and cockatoos right on your doorstep. Although, the rooms were underwhelming, the wifi was barely working and there was mold in the fridge (which didnt affect us because we were only staying for a night). Overall, its a good play to stay for a night or two.You get what you pay for.

Went for a Christmas lunch as it was one of the few places with availability and was actually quite pleasantly surprised. The food was pretty good with good portion sizes. The venue was a little dated, but this wasnt too bad. Location was fabulous however with some great scenic views of the surrounding hills and landscape.

The resturant there was very reasonable priced and enjoyable meal . As for the room we had not so great , mould on walls in bathroom and exhaust fan did not work so that might explain that over all , just run down and not updated . Fridge had rust in freezer and front door . But for its money not bad i guess no mobile service thats fine tv reception was terrible.

Excellent views and a really lovely quiet spot, yet super close to the main strip in Halls Gap. The amenities are very old and run down and you really do get what you pay for. The thing that annoyed us the most was it being a Friday night and deciding to just stay in the night and eat at their little restaurant as most places around town were already booked out and when we got to the front door - there was a sign to say they were closed for the night. No warning or anything. We then had to wait 1.5hrs at a tavern/pub for food as they were short staffed and full. You cant just close your restaurant on a Friday night to guests staying, in a town that already has limited options. Perhaps you need to find a back up chef?

Excellent location. Remote enough that you feel like you are in the mountains but close enough to town that it is an easy few minutes drive. Plenty of wildlife on the property. Facilities were great but the bed was a little uncomfortable. The property is looking a little tired (eg: needs new carpet and paintbut I can easily look past that. The only negative thing was that the WiFi was out for the duration of our stay and to be honest, I dont think it ever actually worked. A sign was put up on the window on our first day saying the internet was not working, when we spoke to reception we were told that it just went out. When we asked on day 2, we were told the manager would be in the next day to check it out. On the 3rd day the manager informed us that the NBN had been out for a few months. So I think it is safe to say there is no internet available on the property. After reading other reviews since my return, it seems the WiFi is permanently unavailable. This is only problematic because the mountains can mean that TV reception is poor and there is no way to plan your day using GPS as there is absolutely no mobile signal for internet or even phone calls. I just wish they were honest about the internet, an accommodation star rating means nothing these days, reviews do, so why not just say you do not have WiFi? People like myself will still book and our experience will be much better (as will our reviews). The staff are lovely and very helpful. Despite the issue with the internet, I would stay at this place again as it is good value for money, spacious, conveniently located, clean and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Poorly maintained and falsely advertising free wifi.Had great expectations of this motel as the location looked lovely and serene, and the menu for the restaurant looked good. As I dont drink much, it didnt bother me that it was a little bit out of town (there are no taxi/uber etc in Halls Gap). But like others who have reviewed after their stay, I too was silly enough not to read up on this motel before booking.We arrived at reception to check in, and I noticed the room closest to reception had torn curtains, which, as it turned out, was a sign of things to come.The rooms are extremely dated, but this was no surprise as it was in all their photos online, and realistically, there doesnt appear to be much accommodation in the area that has been updated after the 1980s.It seemed every room we walked passed to get to our room had torn curtains, and on entering our room we discovered that maintenance is not something this motel prides itself on.So of course, our curtains were also torn, the door lock was broken so that while it would lock, you couldnt get your key out without a lot of wriggling it around for 5 or so minutes, lots of blown light globes, the pillows were yellowing, the carpet stank, the shower had two different tap handles, there were only two squares of toilet paper on the roll when we arrived. Even the garden taps in their grounds were falling apart.The TV reception was iffy, and we figured out it was the antenna cable that was the problem. We raised this with the guy at reception who came and swapped it over with another one that also wasnt working, so we had to prop a boot up under it to bend it the right way so it would kind of work (sometimes, if the stars were aligned and it was a full moon, but only on ABC or SBS).BUT, one of my biggest issues was the lack of promised wifi. On reading other reviews, its clear that there actually isnt any wifi at all, there isnt a fault with it, they just dont supply it. The guy at reception said there was an issue with the NBN provider, however, he had no problem logging onto Booking.com on the reception PC to check our booking. So they have internet, theyre just not willing to share it with their guests. Unfortunately, mobile reception isnt great at this motel, so wifi is a must. Really disappointed with this, as they advertise free wifi.On the plus side, their towels are so scratchy that I was able to exfoliate and dry myself at the same time. But no amenities were provided, like the little hotel soaps/shampoos/shower caps etc, just a soap dispenser on the wall with an unknown soap in it.As far as the restaurant goes, my husband had the lamb rack and thought it was brilliant. Someone else on here reviewed the chicken parmigiana as being the best hed ever had, but unfortunately, it really was nothing special. It wasnt bad, but it was fairly commonplace. Like a supermarket schnitzel with melted cheese and bacon bits on top. It was nice that they serve their drinks with a Grampians Motel stubby holder (on loan for the duration of your meal), but that the begs the question of hygiene, as Im sure they dont fish out a new one for each guest.I didnt have any issues with the staff, they were all nice enough, however, customer service and cheap rates only get you so far. Definitely not staying here again.

Stayed there during the last weekend of Easter school holidays. The worst stay in my whole life, during the night bathroom was flooded with hundreds of millipedes who continued to the beds and sheets by the morning. Extremely filthy carpets, stinky sheets and dirty kettle & toaster. nothing like in the photos. The man at the reception was very rude and didnt do anything about it when we complained. Try and stay away from this place. The only positive fact is that the location & the view is great.

Good: Brad and his teams are fantastic especially Ralph such an energetic vibrant personality! The services are great no doubt and the views are awesome.Bad: If they fix their NBN and make sure electric plugs are working, increase cleanliness, carpets, beds, and furniture are changed, this could be the best place to stay In Grampian!

Not recommended, worst experience so far. Dirty carpets could see bugs clearly. Crockery was chipped off. Flyscreen was broken. Very very rude receptionist. No wifi. Although, location was great with all the native animals around.

Nice location and nice views. Lots of friendly kangaroos within motel grounds. Not bad for a 2 star motel but nothing more. Manager/owner was not welcoming at all. No WiFi as promised, not so clean swimming pool. One of the most unhygienic rooms I have ever stayed at. Filthy carpets, broken plates, spiders, very old fridge and toaster which were not working properly, etc..I will try my level best to stay away.

Positives: Amazing location, grounds, loads of wildlife and camp fire to share at night.Negatives: premium room-it was not! Needs refurb. Filthy carpet, ripped curtains, musty smell. Not a nice place to sleep. Other room types available, possibly better?

Moderately priced. Clean and comfortable. The restaurant here is amazing. Locally sourced produce that is a taste and quality above normal. Theres a lot of accomodation in Halls Gap to suit all levels. This place is punching just above its weight. Given the breadth of accomodation pricing in town, this is around median, but youll get a lot more. Well be back. The area is going to take your breath away, enjoy.

Incredible views, sandpit, playground, train and swimming pool for the kids. The restaurant staff were friendly and incredibly accommodating of our 16 person booking including 5 loud kids. The meals were delicious paired with delicious craft beers.

Rooms looked tidy but were very dated in furnishing and amenities. Everything was functional, including TV (most channelsand heater. Wasnt a fan of the all-in-one bodywash-shampoo-conditioner dispenser in the shower which looked suspiciously similar to the handwash, definitely bring your own conditioner. My partner went to reception to check in and was asked to pay for the booking, despite me paying online when I booked. We were refunded easily, staff were pleasant. Incredible views!

It is an older motel but reasonably priced. The best feature for us were all the native animals feeding in the grounds. Great for overseas visitors , very picturesque. Major Mitchell birds were very loud and unafraid of guests. We left our door open and a bird went in and helped itself to a pack of biscuits

the room was dirty. the tiles in bathroom. under basin was covered in black dust. the curtains were filthy. black dirty mark on wall in bathroom between toilet and basin. Each day the bed was not made. No shower cap or hair dryer and the room was deli e spa. the spa part was nice. the bed was her low and the chairs for a deluxe room not nice or comfortable. The restaurant was amazing with good food and service. would. one back but never for the motel. Our booking was in the name of Robbins as we were just married.

Nice place to stay for a day or two given its decent price.The room was clean although it looked a bit old and the TV wasn’t functioning (didn’t affect us much though.)Additional marks for having a large lawn with friendly wild kangaroos, emus and cockatoos all around the motel.Staff were friendly and passionate.In overall speaking I would recommend this place for a short stay.
