Grotto Pizza in Sussex County

I was staying at our usual place and we were too tired to cook. This pizza is probably the best ever. The aroma is out of this world. I hope I can count on this every time not just by mishap. So many places have cooks that don’t care and mess up the meals even though you had been there before. It would be great if consistency was the normal everywhere. Thank you for the delicious experience with my sister and girlfriend. Hope we are continuing this week

The absolute best pizza ever!

Pizza was disgusting! Almost no cheese and the sauce tasted terrible! Ended up throwing this overpriced garbage where it belonged......in the garbage! Their apathy is obvious!

Im a big fan of their pizza. To me its the best pizza. Maybe its because we only get it once a year. We always hit up this location for our final pizza on vacation. Even though we stay in Ocean City this location is easier to get in and out of.

With a million of these at the beach decided to try it for takeout. Had gluten free pizza and it was dry with very little sauce and limited amounts of toppings. It reminded me of Pizza hut but pricier. My daughter had chicken parm and the spaghetti was perfect. The chicken was a deep fried cutlet and I suspect pre frozen. With rave reviews I suspect the regular pizza is much better and the place gets compliments for trying gluten free.

This place is okay but it’s not that great. They were understaffed and I think it was the only waitress therefirst day she was super sweet. For being empty it was a very slow wait just to get our appetizers. We ordered the loaded sidewinder fries and they didn’t use normal cheese it was the cheese you eat on nachos… it was weird (not bad but not great either). I ordered “fried mozzarella” (mozzarella sticksit tasted like something I’d buy from the Walmart freezer section. The cheese inside was like one of those over processed almost plastic cheese sticks stuffed inside some breading. The “mozzarella” didn’t have a real mozzarella consistency. Pizza was so overloaded with sauce I could have eaten it with a spoon…idk how this place is a 4 star? The half cheese half pepperoni pizza we ordered tasted like something from the public school cafeteria. The mozzarella on the pizza was also the fake processed cheese but there was so little of it that it didn’t do anything worse to the pizza.

Their pizza is literally CRACK. It’s addicting, it’s delicious and I’m unsure why they don’t become a national brand. I hate that it isn’t closer to home!!! For the record, I hid my pizza with peppers (doesn’t come like this)

Typical Grotto Pizza. Although the place is big they were running as take out only due to a shortage of serving staff. Quick.

They were short staffed, but did their best. Still the same food that my husband loves!

Ate there last week. Not at all busy, maybe 3 tables, still waited a while to be seated. The two other parties that came in after us waited even longer. A shout out of “I’ll be with you shortly” would have been nice. Pizzas were just as good as ever,no complaints there at all. Service was just a bit lacking.

Surprisingly awful pizza for the price. The one half that was sausage was essentially a cheese pizza. The 4 small kernels of sausage were at the center of a large size, one per slice. Apparently to compensate, the pepperoni side was smothered. I should have sent it back. Overall the service was fine, the food was not.

Wish we had a Grotto Pizza back home. Great Food!!!!!

First I would like to say that our carry our cashier was super friendly! Pizza wasnt bad but it would have been better if they didnt put pizza sauce on top of my pepperoni. Apparently they do that with all your toppings so if you dont prefer that then make sure you specify that when you order. Also we ordered fountain sodas and it tasted horrible and we werent the only ones that mentioned that to them so I would purchase the bottle soda instead. ould give 4 stars but thats the only reason I gave 3 stars is because of the sauce on toppings. Sorry guys, other than that I would recommend them especially when you order and have a friendly cashier that makes a world of difference😊

Tried to place a $60+ order. The girl answering the phone ( Morgan had no clue as to what the ingredients were in used in each selection.We were told cheddar cheese was used in the stromboli and calzone.We could not get mozzarella cheese on our steaks.We called another companys pizza shop that had a clue as to how their food is prepared.Grotto Pizza... Legends In Their Own Mind.

Well I didnt vomit the moment I left , however I sensed the grease was kicking in. Besides the constant diarhrea and nausea. I was glad to pay more for a orange crush...to get the taste out of my mouth of their sad pizza cardboard. Please go to Francos

Delivery and service was great but the pizza itself was way too greasy. I hope they lay off the grease in the future.

Very clean, everything individually wrapped, lids on drink cups, staff friendly and attentive. And of course, the pizza was excellent!

Pizza arrived on time. However, there’s nothing worse than having any type of canned vegetables on your pizza. Ordered pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes. Definitely the mushrooms were from a can.

Sorry to say but the experience we had tonight was terrible. Weve always have had great service there in the past but tonight we ordered 2 salads, order of broccoli bites, 2 orders of fries and 2 pizzas. Only got 1 order of fries, 1 salad and that was after the pizzas came out. Hardly any customers in there so I still dont know what the problem was. Wont be coming back there for a while. 👎

We were visiting the area and this was listed in several locations. Just not how we like our pizza. We bought 4 different pies which are usually for the most part gone but there were over 2 whole pies left which is why I know I wasnt the only one that didnt care for it

I dont get the hype. Pizza is ok. Expensive and small slices. Rented a house for the week, 1st night we called for delivery, I gave the address (zip code and allit was a half mile away. The guy said what development, i said what?? I have no idea. Since when is a full address not good enough for food delivery??? I was about to say "have you heard of GPS?"

Food was great! But the waitress was so AWESOME! She has an excellent customer service attitude! Good luck in the future!

Look, obviously this is a local hit. Personally, I think Grotto is intensely mediocre. Corporate pizza quality and the subs are on par with other sub chains.

The Cheese think that someone in our party order was very dry and a good even tasted cheese the asked for extra cheese. Our pizza was good.

Nice sit down. Great pizza. Somewhat Slow service in summer. Relaxed environment. Closed off season. Need to drive to Ocean View/Bethany location. West Bethany: drive in the Main Street if Bethany away from the beach. Cross highway and it’s in the right across from WAWA. That one has games and kids area & open all year.

Im not a fan of their pizza sauce, but their service is great. They definitely know how to sell and market their product. They are typically busy, so its a lot quicker to pick up your order than getting it delivered.

We make it a point to eat here every time we come to the beach. The service was great. Ella took great care of us. They have a adequate beer & wine selection. You cant beat the food.

We tried to get a table for 5. In an effort to maximize their seat utilization, the hostess only offered to squeeze us at a table for 4, while multiple other solutions were available. When we saw a table that was large enough, we were told they were going to give that to a group behind us. When we asked to put two tables together, we were told that they could not do that. We asked if we would get a discount for lesser service. They did not understand the question. We left without being seated because the idea of accepting planned bad service from the get go did not sit well with us. I am sure the food is good, but the customer service appears really poor.

Always great food the pizza you cant go wrong

We have ordered from this Grottos location many times over the years, but after our experience tonight I will not be doing so ever again. After being told our delivery order would be to us in an hour, I called back an hour and a half later and was told that it was on its way. At the 2 hour mark I called back to speak to a manager and she was incredibly rude. They had sent the pizza to the wrong address twice, and instead of being apologetic, she accused me of giving them the wrong phone number and address. She also initially stated she was not going to compensate us in any way for the 2 hour (now 2 hour and 40 minute wait). She finally offered a discount, but was still rude and offered no apology. From someone in the customer service industry, I was incredibly disappointed and insulted by this customer service experience and this store manager.

If you come here I would suggest getting their pizza; Its amazing. I havent tried much else of the menu, but its a nice place.

My whole family lives Grotto. Its one of the highlights and must have every time we go to the beach. I first had Grotto Pizza at the original Harveys Lake location in Northeast PA. If you havent tried it, you need to!

I generally rate Grotto locations 4 stars because the food is consistent and good from shop to shop and the service has been consistently good or at least above average. This location gets 5 stars because their service has been the best in my experience. The white pizza is one of the better ones youll find and the gelato is surprisingly good.

Nice place to go waited 55 minutes for our pizza I could understand if they were busy but half of the tables were empty usually have better service but not today

My family hates Grotto pizza, but Im the opposite! Usually we stay within walking distance so I will go with the wife and kids for a late lunch. Typically there is no wait (late Augustand I LOVE their pizza. My only gripe is I wish they had a few more draft selections but otherwise its been excellent every visit! They do close during the off season so do not try to visit post September!

Ive been going to Bethany Beach, DE for vacation since I was like 10. Every year, I go to Grotto for some good pizza, and it is always consistently delicious. I usually order the Margherita Pizza. Im Italian, s my palette loves the fresh tomato, and herbs. Ive had many of their pizzas, and theyre all delicious. Their bread-sticks arent the best in the world (Red Lobster destroys everyone else with their buttery biscuits of deliciousness), but its not a big deal. Its not like you need an appetizer to eat awesome pizza, right???Overall: VERY HIGHLY recommended pizza establishment. They serve Sam Adams too, which is a ++
