Gyro Place in Cerro Gordo County

We love to eat local and I hate it when it doesnt match up to the expectations. The gyro meat was fantastic and plenty of it. The miss was the "cucumber sauce". There wasnt much flavor to it. I dont want it to over power the sandwich but it needed just a bit more. The service was great. If we are in the area again, we would happily try it again. The onion rings werent anything special, something from a bag. My wife really enjoyed the Philly style sandwich. It was good but I prefer the traditional style. Worth stopping in and enjoying.

It has a great home feel to it and the staff are super polite. The food is amazing, will definitely be eating there again!

Very good food, dishes dont come with a side so be sure to order one if thats what you want.Sodas served in glass bottles which is a nice touch

Passing through on my way to MN. The Lamb Gyro was THE BEST Gyro I have had since traveling New Zealand! Hot and very flavorful! Great job and best of luck with your business. Will make a point to stop here again.

Great Street Tacos, We grabbed some tacos and went across the street to the park to while eat. Nice location with friendly staff.

We came for gyros and stayed for Hannah. She took our order, had us dying from laughter and made our dinner experience unique.

We had Hannah Banana as our waitress, shes the best! Great service and great food.

We were tired after a long day, but our dinner was excellent. Hubby had lamb gyro salad. He would have enjoyed more lettuce but it was good, dark greens, and the meat was perfectly seasoned. Happy hubby … priceless!I had 3 crunchy gyro tacos. I forgot to order added lettuce, but still wonderful !! I ordered both mild (tacosauce and cucumber sauce on the side and only used the cuc.sauce. It was perfect.Loved the personality of having the staff (management?)‘s children come out from the back room as we sat there. Heart warming to be around young families!

We had the street tacos which were very good. Service was quick and accommodating. After reading reviews of other restaurants we were happy we choose Gyro Place.

Not sure why there are so many rave reviews. My experience with the food was not really good.I made an order for six pieces of wings, extra crispy, with buffalo sauce, and one order of the Gyro Supreme.When I got the food the wings were crispy, but there was no sauce on them. Instead, the sauce was in a cup. This was unusual to me, as I didn’t have a metal bowl to toss the wings in, so I had to drizzle the sauce over the wings, and it was not a pleasant experience.The Gyro meat was overcooked, and the portions were very small.I paid over $35.00 for the food, and I would not spend that kind of money on food like that again.I just cannot stress how weird and abnormal it was to get wings not tossed in sauce.

The food was great and so was the service.I want to thank the owner and staff. I left my purse there and went back the next day and they had it for me and everything was still in my wallet. I am thankful there are still honest people.Thank you.

I dont often write review, but Gyro hut deserves one! They are fantastic at customer service. Each time I go, they are so attentive and work so hard to make sure you are happy. One of my employees is very allergic to gluten, they order special shells for her, and also wipe the surfaces before making her food. They are good people and have great food. Thats why its one of my favorite places!

Um absolutely heavenly! The staff was so friendly! They were some of the kindest and most helpful I have seen in a while. Their portions are HUGE for a really great price and everything tasted amazing! It is also right off of a lakeside park which is perfect for picnicking. Seriously awesome!!

I came here a couple of times before writing the review. Before I get to the food I want to talk about the staff and the building.The staff is impeccable! Everyone is courteous, professional, and very welcoming. They make me want to come back. And I most definitely will.The building is across from the park at the edge of the lake and if you sit at the window you get a stunning view of the park with the lake behind it. It had just snowed the day before my last visit and the view was beautiful.And the food:First tripmy partner and I each got a jumbo gyro and split large fries. It was bothe the gyro and the fries were huge and i was very satisfied with my choice. The gyro had tomato, onion, and plenty of tzatziki sauce. I always ask for extra sauce though because I love tzatziki and dip my fries in it.Second time we went we tried a number of different things. I got the regular lamb gyro, my partner got the lamb gyro deluxe. Both were awesome. Both were awesome and my partner loved the toppings on the delux. The pita was soft and fresh.We also got a few tacos. We are both originally from California so we have been missing authentic Mexican food since moving to Iowa. I gotta say this is the best Mexican food I have had so far in Iowa. I had the birria, chrizo, and chicken tacos. All were great and the birria came with a cup of consume which was delicious. It came with 2 salsas mild and hot. The hot wasnt too hot but had a little kick. I love spicy food and hope they make one even hotter in the future.We also had a 2 piece fried chicken with white meat which was a breast and wing. The fried chicken was very unique and the skin was incredibly crisp and perfectly rendered. It tasted like chicken chicharron. The chicken also came with fries and cole slaw. I thought the cut of the fries was very interesting and fun.I would highly recommend Gyro Place to anyone looking for delicious, fresh, well made food at a fantastic price. Thus is my favorite restaurant in Iowa. I ate there today and cannot wait to come back again.

Dont let the name fool you! Gyro Place is way more than gyros. Burgers, fries, street tacos, fried chicken and more. The staff is always warm and welcoming!

My absolutely favorite place in Clear Lake to eat. This food is FABULOSO! The tacos have the BEST seasoning. I seriously get cravings for Tacos al Pastor! Every person I take there loves the food. Everyone says the gyro meat is delicious and you get a lot of meat in each serving. And that’s just the food. This family owned business has the best customer service. They know me by name and bring the food so fast. As a former Spanish teacher, they speak to me in Spanish, which I love. You need to get yourself to this little gem in downtown Clear Lake!

There was so much food.. seriously could of split mine and still been full. I had the gyro platter but wish I got the jumbo gyro.. it had the same things but the pita was not cut up.. but both were awesome. I would of loved a olive r 2 with mine being a platter.. just needed that salty bite. But it was spot on and I will be back if I come that way again. Ordered delivery from doordash..

Such a great selection whether you like gyros, fried fish, wings, street tacos or burgers. This place has it all and does each thing well. Good location across from the park and friendly staff.

Good gyro meat! A very odd selection of food though. The meals with gyro meat were the best of what we ordered. Worth the bit of drive off the highway because we ate our food sitting at the neighboring park next to the lake.

We walked in for gyros and surprised to see a wide variety of food to select from. We tried the standard gyro and it was delicious. Well go back to try their tacos. The location is perfect and service was great.Went back for tacos- delicious!!

I ordered the Gyro with fries and a drink and my wife ordered the tenderloin with fries and a drink. The tenderloin is huge! This could have easily been two tenderloin sandwiches! My wife loved the sandwich!The Gyro was good too! I would definitely order it again! Great service, friendly staff...this place will be a place that we come back to in the future!

While the size of the restaurant is small, the quality and staff team is amazing! From someone being out of town and just going in here randomly. I was so surprised for the food to be one of the best things Ive ate in a while. If you can go here any time, I would always recommend this for sure.

Small detour for lunch off the interstate found us at this little unexpected gem. Outstanding service. Staff, was polite, attentive and very friendly. Quality and portions of gyros were excellent. Enjoyed the house made green hot sauce too!.

The staff was warming and sweet. They even carried to go orders out to peoples cars for them so they didnt have to stand and wait. There menu is diverse enough that there is something for everyone with a good variety and great prices! I would go back to Clear Lake, Iowa just to eat here again! Highly recommend!!

On our way to southern iowa. Stopped at clear lake to fuel up and I noticed this little gyro place on the map. So glad that we took the short trip across town because the gyros and chicken is just great!!! Will be back next time were passing through!

Weve lived in Texas for a decade, recently moved here and this wonderful place reminds us of home! Best Tacos, hands down, in Iowa, possibly the midwest. The friendliest, sweetest people. The food is delicious and they do not skimp! Very very fairly priced and their downtown location is perfect! Literally have to stop ourselves from ordering EVERY NIGHT. Wish I could give it Ten stars!

We were passing by Clear Lake headed home after a weekend away and were hungry, so my Google search landed on the Gyro Place. It was SO GOOD. I had the gyro Supreme and my boyfriend has two regular gyros. Amazing food and super friendly service. Highly recommended. Will be back next time we are headed north!

We got takeout and took it to the park across the street to watch the sunset. We liked that there was enough variety that the whole family found something they liked. Quick, friendly service and delicious food! Highly recommend the gyros. That was two days ago. It was so good we changed our plans and went back for more tonight. This time we also tried the street tacos (al pastor, gyro, fish). Yum! Definitely will be coming back the next time were in the area.

WOW! This place is next level good. I ordered two pastor tacos, and they gave me a third for free ❤️ Tacos are juicy, flavorful, and have real pineapple slices on them. Tortillas are perfectly grilled & soft. The gentleman brought my food right to my car with a smile. I’ll definitely be back (often!).

We stumbled across this place while making a pilgrimage to the Surf Ballroom and are so glad we did. The fried chicken, gyros, and carnitas were all excellent, and the staff was gracious and friendly. The restaurant is clean and has a nice view of the park and lake.
