We waited in the ER waiting room for 4 hours without any concern shown. Checked in with reception multiple times and saw many families taken back before my child. I understand different levels of emergency, but the lack of concern/care was something I never expected or have experienced before.
They helped my son use his voice to get the help he needs! Was worth the wait! I promise! The staff and security and more have been so helpful and kind. Offering water or food. While we waited to be seen. The staff here is very polite and sweet! 5-5 stars for me.
Children are suffering in waiting lobby you rather go to urgent care center way faster then coming here ER is very brutal
One star is the minimum, you get a second because you didnt hurt my kids. Now for the negative, billing department is a bunch of hacks...I have a solid insurance plan and you could even work with them to get it right and instead billed me for thousands. Prices are astronomical...$450 for at 10 min consult. Get lost.If your getting referred here, do your research. There are probably other options available to you, but Western WA doctors default to this one, I only assume they hope to one day over charge too.
Forever grateful for all of the nurses and doctors here at Seattle childrens, you guys are all amazing!
My child had surgery 07/2022. The stress and worry was pretty intense for me. The Doctors, Nurses, and Staff are God sent and absolutely amazing. We were in excellent hands from beginning to end. My child will need continued services and I will not take her anywhere else. She loves going here. Thank you Seattle Childrens Hospital for ALL of your loving support. ❤️
Great hospital with amazing doctors . Opened doors to help our family that were not possible at other local hospitals. I feel blessed to have a specialty childrens hospital nearby .
Came In at 930pm and it is currently 1:15AM and still have not been called. Staff currently give me a straight answer on how long Ill be waiting. " hopefully soon they will call you in" this was said 3 times and yet no one called me in. Dissatisfied with this hospital. This is not an emergency room. Stay away.
They need to understand the meaning of Emergency, I came to an emergency service at 3:00 AM and I had to wait 2.5 hours inorder see a doctor, my daughter had a fever of 105 she was nauseous, why do they call this as an emergency service, rather it should be called 24x7 urgent care. If I am paying a premium price for emergency service I don’t think anyone should deserve this kind of service. Seems like I made a mistake coming here.
I interviewed after applying for a security officer position at the hospital. Despite having a massive amount of experience and qualifications I was not chosen for the position. The interviewers were more interested in trying to find out if I was racist. When asking more about the job duties they appeared to lose their patience. This hospital was just in the news for having massive staffing issues. Its beyond me why you would reject me and relist the position on indeed.
Disgusting people there. I understand theyre understaffed, but after a few years, and several children (compromisedby mold and stoned staff (normal), I worry for anyone there. Used to be good, now? Dont know.
We had to travel feom Idaho to deliver our son at uw and then transported our son immediately after birth to childrens hospital and I have to say from the meetings prior to his birth to our current stay in the intensive nicu unit.. hands down an amazing job well done. The staff is so on top of every little detail, they communicate, bounce ideas off one another, are very caring and supportive of the parents/ family and make this whole process as smooth and stress free as a life saving situation can be. I hope no one ever has to come here but if you do, your little one and you will be taken care of.Thank you soooo much to all the nurses and doctors and everyone in between.I really hope childrens hospital starts to see all your worth and take better care of their staff! They 1000% deserve it
They are my superheroes. The Drs. Nurses and staff are all so kind. And have brought me peace during the days I worry the most.
My 8-year-old daughter unfortunately had appendicitis on the day of boarding a cruise from Seattle to Alaska, and had to go through a surgery at the Seattle Children’s hospital. We were obviously so worried about her health, and disappointed at the same time that she couldn’t board the ship. However, an exceptional level of empathy, kindness and professionalism demonstrated by Dr J. Meehan and his medical team put my daughter and myself at ease throughout the surgery process. We felt so blessed to have him and his medical team treat and care for her. Everyone was so nice, friendly and professional, treating us like their own family members! Our family really appreciate Dr Meehan being such a caring, thoughtful and compassionate doctor during our time of need! Thank you Seattle Children’s Hospital for making this experience wonderful!
I dont like the commute and also it is hell checking in! Have to go to the 6th floor to stand in line outthe door to go to 8th where it is crowded and receptionist cant hear you throught he glass. I absolutely HATE it here
After nearly 18 years of taking my severely disabled child here with at times damaging results - I would implore you to look elsewhere for care. This place has lost empathy and results. Apparently after they pass you around to other people who have no clue how to help they terminate you - this place is the saddest joke - I used to have such hope but after the last dr sent a letter saying ‘sorry moving on good luck’ (many such lettersI guess the egos win. They made my daughter worse with little or no help. No miracles here
Super disappointed and angry post visit. We ended up going to Seattle childrens due to lack of appointments and a reference from my kids pediatrician and I regret going to them. Highly mismanaged facility - people walking around without masks. We were seated in a casting room for an hour with random folks walking in and out and when I asked the check in person for the delay reason he simply responded the doctor is busy and wont know when he will be done. This was for a pre scheduled appointment. When I said this was unacceptable his response was - do you want to cancel? I am appalled at the lack of empathy or any kind of concern for a parent and kid. I will not recommend them to anyone. Also, we were asked for symptoms and masks at every checkpoint but their own physicians were checking patients in flimsy barely there masks. I was very uncomfortable throughout the visit. This is a very badly run facility (it did not feel like a hospital).
ZERO STARS....If you are a black person whether you have insurance or not..STAY AWAY FROM Seattle Childrens. Their issues of discrimination against black families is still raging, plus no respect or communication with waiting patients whose appointment time they have delayed.Twice now I had an appointment and still had to wait over an hour after check in.Even if you have an appointment, you end up waiting like in ER. Had a 940am appointment, arrived at 925am and did not see the doctor until 11am.Second time, we had a surgery scheduled for 230pm, we waited til 3pm and noone was telling us anything. . Then i told them we were leaving if I did not get an exact eta and was told it could be another hour. This iseven though my 4 year old had not eaten since 6am for the procedure and it was now 348pm and her original appointment was 230p.When I asked why the wait I was was told that a "more important case was put ahead of ours". Apparently some lives matter more at Childrens. We left without the procedure.
My child and I went on a Friday night. It took about 2 hours to be seen by the doctor. My child broke their arm. And another 1 hour for the x-ray and then the cast to be set. While it felt long at in the moment… and we weren’t a serious case, everyone was professional and helpful.
I had a great experience with my needs. The doctors are great, proactive, and very transparent. I had a game plan set up, and felt safe with my next steps by the end of my appointments which where quicker than I thought.
Im originally from Miami, so I dont think no health care or anything can outdo that. But Seattle Childrens Hospital is an amazing hospital that I have been to, and it was honestly such a good experience. My son was admitted for surgery yesterday, and they have cared for him with so much love; I cant even explain how wonderful they have been. The nurses, doctors, and staff members have been amazing with my son. My family and I drove a little over an hour and a half, and it was worth it. The level of security and organization here is priceless. I met several nurses, but one that stood out the most was "Sammie" omg. I loved her; she was sweet and made me feel comfortable. She takes her job seriously and is very dedicated to the patients. I know there are many more nurses who were just like Sammie and were great, but there was one that blew me away. My son immediately connected with her, and the fact she stayed overtime is commendable. Thank you all so much for your hospitality, grace, and professionalism. I pray God continues blessing this institution and all the lovely people who work here. May God continue to bless you all.
Today we went and saw Jacob Ross for PT and he was fantastic! The receptionist also remembered us from last time and provided coloring sheets for my daughter who had asked for pokemon ones a few months back. The fact that she remembered really touched us and to top it off Ross gave our kiddo a pokemon card pack after PT. Absolutely made her day and ours. Thank you all for being such great humans!
The Emergency department is a joke. They are understaffed and it shows. They don’t take the time or show that they even care. My daughter and wife were at the ED for over 5 hours. They did nothing for my daughter who is still in excruciating pain. Sent her away as if they didn’t want to help her. I don’t see how they can keep running the ED like this. Someone is going to get hurt or even killed due to their complacency and they can care less. Seattle childrens again dropping the ball at the expense of my child. Horrible establishment wasting innocent child’s time just for the sake of money. I hope their bill come due.
Id like to separate my review into two parts. If you only care about doctors and medical service, just read part 1 and call it 5 stars.1. Every doctor was understanding, great bedside manner, consoling and supportive. They knew what they were doing and helped us to understand.2. The consistency in staff outside of doctors is very off. Came into ER with our child and had multiple people ask us if we needed food/drink/comfort and never returned with what was promised. Not once, several times.Room we waited in for 5 hours had 2 office chairs my wife was supposed to breastfeed in. No pillows available, just a thin blanket.Told us we would both be able to stay overnight with our child, at 7:30 pm. After leaving us alone until 12:30 am other than checking in and not delivering services, they told us only one of us could stay. Hotel unbookable at that hour.Once my wife was in the room, asked for pain medication for child 3 times before it was delivered. There was no discussion, they agree it was needed and just didnt bring it.These places make money hand over fist, or else Im paying someone else a fortune. Invest a bit less in colorful, whimsical fox paintings on the walls and a bit more consistency in staffing and protocols please.
ENT and other specific specialists, along with the 90% of the nursing staff make it a potential great choice. The facilities are great in the sense they are clean, but logistically laid out poorly. If youre here for an extended period of time, its not a good choice though. Dont expect to sleep and youd probably have a better conversation with a wall than with the management here. Specifically, the Patient Family Relations Group are full of liars and pretend to be an advocate for you when youre trying to do everything possible for your childs health, but they are like an HR department for the company, they will say whatever sounds good at the time and when you feel like you can trust them, you end up feeling as though youve been deceived, lied to, and that no help is in the foreseeable future. The specialists are what you want for your children, but the management are all about the bottom line and they have no real interest in the patients or their families. If I hadnt been here for months now, with a strong history of knowledge between the ENT team and my daughter, and if I had known more about this place (I just moved here less than a year ago), I would have very likely gone somewhere else. I could go on and on, but it really doesnt make a difference with them. They honestly dont care (they being management, not the actual specialists, which the ENT group is amazing). I have been calling around for pediatric ENT specialists, so if anyone knows of someone who is amazing, Im praying for a better experience and to get out of here.
Cannot say enough how amazing this hospital and the staff is. My daughter is a patient here and every single time we are here we are treated with so much care and respect. So grateful for her neurology team. These employees are simply the best.
I can’t say enough about our experience at the children’s ER. Upon arrival my son and I were greeted by a nurse immediately while my husband checked in. Even though any ER visit is usually a long one, staff was so attentive and wasted no time helping our little guy. The surgeons and staff in the surgery recovery unit were equally amazing. Everyone was above and beyond compassionate, thorough and informative with us every step of the way for what was already a traumatic experience. If we ever have to take our son to the ER again, this will be the only place we go.
Absolutely atrocious service from craniofacial medicine. It is impossible to get ahold of anyone there for scheduling or rescheduling. The referral process took several weeks. There is no prioritization process for kids that are about to become “too old” for treatment. We have been trying since March to get an appointment. They cancelled on us the same day as our appointment and couldn’t reschedule us for three weeks. My child is no longer eligible for treatment due to these delays. They have absolutely failed him.
All the staff weve worked with so far have been friendly and answered any questions we have, whether it be radiology or the dietary. Really quick and on time appointments too. Not much waiting around.
I was a patient here when I was 10 years old they fixed my legs so i coud walk for the first time I am now 58 not only did they take care of my body but also helped the mind God bless this hospital
Everyone here is super friendly. They make sure you understand everything thats happening before it happens. Hospital is very clean and organized.
Such great staff all around! Very polite and they take great care of you and your child!
Seattle Childrens is the worst! It is impossible to get appointments and when you finally do, they cancel on you. How is there no other options for pediatric endocrinology? My child is not getting the care she needs to manage her diabetes because of their lack of doctors and clinics.
They just let my kid sleep at SCH which I agree because she had no problem at all. But but but SCH charged us over 2000 dollars for sleeping several hours at their room!!!!! The price is after the discount!!! 1. My kid had no problem. 2. Even though assume she had problem, do you need 2000 dollars to do the evaluation? 3. You just let her sleep in your room instead of in her own bed in her own room, what the $2000 come from? 4. We asked for breakfast, but never come before we leave the hospital.5. Thank you that you didnt try to persuade us believe my normal kid is abnormal. You are professional at this point. Thanks God, at least you didnt abuse medicine.
Beautiful hospital and the staff was nice for the most part. We had to come here to visit the ENT. His name was Dr. Manning. The doctor was rude and seemed to not believe me about my daughters symptoms. He kept saying "If" these things were happening. And then he also kept going on and on about how girl and boy patients were different and how his boy patients didnt want to do things. I was really disappointed because we drove over an hour to see this guy.
Dr. Boos was an answer to our prayers. Our 3 yr old sone developed a fungus on his head that was cut open (when it shouldnt have beenby a NP. We took him to our local derm (we are not from Seattleand they did the best that they knew how- but unfortunately they didnt know how to help his head heal. It was very far for us to travel, but it was worth it. In 2 visits, with many phone calls & emails back and forth Dr. Boos was able to help heal our sons head. He knew things that our local derms (we saw 2didnt know. His knowledge of medicines for children was amazing.Things that stick out to me about Dr. Boos;*He is honest*He listens to parents and the kids* He is not a "know it all"* I felt he truly cares about the well being of our son*He is willing to research for your child* He is kind.
I am currently going through the most frustrating time right about now. I have been thinking of ways to type in a way other families are aware and can understand as a mother of a muticomplexed baby whos getting taken from me for things I cannot control, I have been dealing with harassment, emotional destress, called an unfit mother who neglects her world, pride and joy and also told and have been seeing the way I am being treated as his biological mother who was blocked on the MyChart from being able to view my own sons medical portal. I have been treated horribly and disrespected in ways no parent or parents should ever be treated like they arent apart of their childs care team , neglected to be told information like, changes in medication their child is taking, nutrition changes, meetings with the childs surgical care team and discussing about the child without the parents made aware or without any consent on whats being talked and with who. I have witnessed the disrespect these nurse practitioners are showing and had to let another person I dont know have classes done on without my approval and he is a fragile baby. Someone please that views these make thos this be known as I am currently dealing with this whole my sons admitted is the hardest thing Ive ever had to deal with and iam not happy about the situation thats takin place and its your staff thats betraying my trust when your employees were the ones that knew our sons previous hospital that we had complications with because of not caring for my sons health thats fragile and for this happening and for my sons father to be told he doesnt know his son and we are not medically certified to be his parents and care for our son when we have done nothing but what was directed and to be told I am no longer my sons mother when my name is on his birth certificate. My son is not going to be treated any different, I would appreciate help because they are tearing my family apart and ignoring my feelings and my saying his medical needs. Please and thank you
This is a great place. The doctors that I have encountered with are amazing. The stay was nice as well meeting the other doctors. The only thing I dont like is a shared room situation. I think its odd but its what has to happen. Clinic is great too.
My child spent about 543 days at SCH and I would not recommend them to anyone for any inpatient stay or any services that may lead to them being admitted. The NICU was absolutely horrible. They treated parents very poorly. Refused to call me for rounds and I found out multiple diagnoses weeks or months after they had been found because no one bothered to call and tell us. (A hernia, volume loss in the brain, GERD, etc.We were at a smaller NICU before SCH that was absolutely wonderful and had great communication, and to switch to SCH who clearly did not care if we were involved in our childs care and decision making, or even kept educated on it, was absolutely traumatic. This was not one Resident or Attending, this was months of this treatment from multiple Residents, Attendings, and nurses. We requested primary nurses but that didnt happen, my child had a different nurse every 4 - 8 hours for 3 months in the NICU. Physical Therapist Angela Fritz, and one traveling nurse were the only staff members that brightened our NICU stay and that I can say we enjoyed working with. Angela is incredibly positive, confident, and does a wonderful job including parents and communicating effectively. The PICU was better as far as communication goes, however staff seemed afraid of our child. He had a tracheostomy at that point and we were allowed to pick him up, bathe him, etc without help, but it was clear the nurses were afraid and uncomfortable with us doing so. Because of their fear he was left in bed alone watching movies for at leat 20 hours a day for his entire 11.5 month stay in the PICU, minus the days we were present to get him out of bed and into his swing or activity chair. He also did not have a primary nurse for any of his approximately 11.5 months in the PICU. We got a Continuity Attending in the PICU who followed his care more closely, went to BPD Rounds (we were not allowed to attend, we tried, and advocated for us. Dr. Emily Berkman was our Continuity Attending and she was great to work with. In the PICU and on the "Floor" nurses were extremely loud at 3am shift change and would often wake me up in the room with the door shut at this time. They also choose to schedule things (in the PICU and on the Floorin a way where they are bothering your child all night long, every hour or so, even with tasks that could easily be grouped and done earlier or later. The "Pulmonary Floor" nurses are MUCH more experienced and confident. They trusted our training and abilities and the 3.5 or so months we spent there were the first time we were truly allowed to care for our child without someone hovering over us or interrupting constantly. It was also the first time the Pulmonologists came to speak with us semi-regularly, even though he had been closely followed by the Pulmonology team for about 14.5 months there. (I had seen a Pulmonologist less than 5 times during that time.Dr. Amanda Striegl is a wonderful Pulmonologist. She was much more confident than any doctor, resident or Attending, that we met during our stay. Dr. Laurie Eldrege was also very understanding and great to work with. We had a few long talks about communication and continuity of care and both of these Pulmonologists were very receptive to my criticism and understanding of my frustration.During our time at SCH I requested a second opinion from another hospital twice. The first time they tried to tell me they dont do second opinions, then they offered to present his case at a conference that was then postponed due to covid, then 3 months after I initially asked with no progress, I had to contact a Social Worker to advocate for me and get a second opinion. The 2nd opinion gave them critical info that moved my childs progress forward immensely. The 2nd time I wanted a second opinion SCH had been telling me my child would be inpatient at least 6 more months. I made them get a 2nd opinion and he was safely discharged about a month later. Horrible experience, would not recommend for anything inpatient or that could get you admitted.
My daughter was born with a disability. Needless to say we have spent A LOT of time here. With a very few exceptions (like one, and it’s been 18 yearsevery single doctors has been excellent!! Every single nurse and support staff are incredible!! It is a gem. Thank you for all you do for all children, and particularly for those children who need more and specialized care.
The staff was very professional and super kind. Not only did they answer all of my questions I had, they took amazing care of my daughter and they also were very caring of me as a parent offering me snacks and drinks. I absolutely love this hospital
One of the best among hospital for kids in the US. Entire Staff including the Doctors, nurses and administrative staff are really courteous. They took care of my daughter who was having issues with developmental disabilities including several visits and emergency.i really want to thank them for all the help and support they gave us since last few months. The only problem is getting outpatient appointments which will run for months and depends totally on the speciality. I recommend Seattle Childrens hospital for the parents who are looking for any type medical help including emergency, urgent care and well child check-up (this depends on the requirements though).
Once we were admitted to the emergency department, they saw my son quickly. All the doctors and nurses were really great - communicated with us, made sure we were part of the decision making process, taking care of my son during a scary time. Im so glad we dont live too far from a great health resource for my kids like Seattle Childrens!!
I came here along side my little cousin who had to get admitted through the Emergency Room. Everybody from the front desk to the back; security, nurses, resident, attending, were beyond excellent and had the most amazing patient care. They checked on us every so often which was very sweet. The hospital is really clean, and the room we are in are clean and they are taking all the precautions. Thank you SCH !
Our 6-month-old son recently had to have an emergency surgery here. I cannot stress how attentive, compassionate and understanding each person we worked with was towards us. Dr. Otjen and Dr. Perez, in Radiology, were wonderful. Dr. Rice-Townsend is an incredibly kind surgeon with great bedside manner. Dr. Meehan is wonderful to work with as well and is very attentive and has a great way of explaining things. I wish I could remember all the nurses as well. Each one we interacted with was great.
We come about every 3 week and we are so grateful to the amazing staff and medical professionals who care for our loved ones. Every time weve come has been a positive experience regardless of the scary situation that brings us here.I JUST saw an amazing interaction between a young patient and a medical team member that made me smile. The team member introduced herself to the young patient and wanted to explain the procedure so she would not be scared. She was so amazing and caring and kind and Im so impressed with her demeanor. I wish I knew her name because she is most definitely an amazing person who cares deeply about her patients.
Good care with great customer service, staff are friendly and helpful. Emergency room is quite a walk when you are carrying a baby seat and your 2 year old child at the same time.Just dont look forward to your bill. they will steal money from you whether you like it or not. the lowest bill they sent me was $800 for a 5 min ER visit.
We’ve been here several times with our children. Our oldest daughter had an appendectomy here. Also, our youngest daughter was here for sixteen days after birth due to complications. The doctors and staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities are always clean and well kept. They have a pool and playground for families. I don’t love being here, but I love the way it’s run.
♡Doctors and nurses are very good to their patients! Best hospital in the state of Washington for Kids! Been going here for my son, to monitor his arthritis. He was Diagnosed last year with it.
