The food was great. I had scrambled eggs, sour dough toast and bacon.
Delish and fun for my son.
I have been going here since it first opened and the.food and atmosphere are great!
Excellent service and food. Stopped by around 7:30 PM on Monday Oct 3. The cook made me a gluten, dairy free breakfast to order; it was excellent!
The chicken fried steak is always so good, the coffee is hot and delicious, friendly faces, fast service, fair prices.
Taste is great but food portions have gotten tiny! We got 2 chicken strip baskets, paid almost $30…and they were the size of a kids meal at iceberg…super disappointed cause we would much rather support local but not at that price…
Really great food! The older gentleman were very friendly and welcoming! The younger guy working was a bit rude but the food was great! Some of the reviews mentioned cleanliness, I can say when we came it was very clean. We were there before the dinner rush though. I will 100% be coming back! Btw the Motz sticks were amazing. No marinara sauce which was fine with us.
Nice place. The employee make the place. I was not impressed with their Taco salad or their chili. The onion rings were good though. The turkey wrap was good too.
Great little place that has a phone at the table to order from. And you pick up your own order and everything. Kind of a different idea and I like new things. Two thumbs up.
Sadly this restaurant has gone downhill in a big way. The tables and seating are noticably grimy. I had to sort through several forks and knives until I found one that didnt look like it had been cleaned by someone elses mouth. The food is nothing to write home about and the portions are small. I spent 80 bucks there and all 6 of us walked away hungry. What may be the worst part is that they charge 3 dollars for fountain soda from a machine with the top cover missing and lord knows the last time it was cleaned. The entire place needs a deep cleaning in the worst way possible. We will not be going back.
Very good food and service in a classic 50s diner setting. I will be back.
The smell of gas is kinda overpowering when you first enter (I suspect its from the grill?), and the flies are horrendous. The place is charming and the phones to order from the booth are kinda cute, but they dont make sense with how small the place is. The self service aspect is nice for the introvert, and the food is pretty decent. However, combined with the flies, gas smell, and rather large pricetag for a mostly self serve establishment, its not worth a return visit. Plus tip, we paid a good $15-20 more for 4 people than we would have at Dennys.
Great food and cool place. Definitely would go back. It’s close to the cool old Sinclair also.
The name caught my eye as I was exploring around the south side of Utah lake. Small Town Diners always seem to have to best food... Hot Rod Diner does not disappoint! The mushroom swiss burger was seriously fantastic! Ill stop here again for sure next time Im in this neck of the woods.
Not sure where the good reviews are coming from, it screams health code violation. We walked in and were the only ones in there, dirty dishes were still sitting on 2-3 tables, and about a minute or two after we sat ourselves a guy came into the kitchen from the back door. The menus were filthy, felt like they had actually been handle by mechanics and my wife’s had a hair on the inside. We though about leaving then but I convinced our party to stay since we were already there. Once we “phoned in” our order I was hoping the guy was going to wash his hands since he had just come from outside but he did not. When the food was done he hollered at us “your orders up”. So we went and grabbed it ourselves. We also grabbed our own cup and got our drinks, the soda machine was disgusting and had mold on it. There were flies flying around the condiments. The food was mediocre, I was quite disappointed with my breakfast burrito. I went to the cash register to pay and even the register was filthy and had grease caked on everything. I would definitely skip this place!
I liked it!! Tasty Fish & chips and fried shrimp!! 🍤 Fun old fashioned diner experience.
We placed our order at 8:09 am.We did not receive our order till a bit after an hour of waiting. My son ordered a medium stake and he got it extra well done and dry. I almost ate a piece of the egg carton that was in my eggs. This was our second visit to this restaurant....never again, worst experience ever. Avoid this place.
Have you ever pulled around the back of a restaurant to get the the parking lot only to see one car there and go, "hmm, this might be interesting"? Well Im n this case it turned out to be a good surprise and then some. Its a 50s and 60s themed place that the food was tasty. Staff was friendly and everything was mad fresh. This included the Onion Rings that was very tasty. I had a new addition to the menu that was a Pastrami Burger.
Was not clean... almost every empty table needed to be bussed and cleaned. My table was sticky and should have been wiped again but no one to be found. My steak and eggs was good...but way over priced for what I got. Will not be back there.
I don’t write reviews often but I had to speak up this time. My family and I decided to check out this cute diner and while we thought the atmosphere and theme were fun, we were very disappointed in our service. Many times when we had questions about our food and our orders, we were treated rudely and like we were supposed to know how their system works with drinks and ordering. It just feels like the employees in there have seem to have just given up or they don’t care to be there. I almost couldn’t even tell who actually was actually an employee because there was no uniform or any sense of professionalism. I could tell it was understaffed and I know that is a common problem these days but that was not an excuse to be lazy regarding basic customer service. There were also far too many flies and the floor looked like it had not been mopped at all. The food wasn’t terrible but I’ve had better diner food. Overall, it was not a very pleasant experience and changes need to be made.
Cute little place. Little different than what youre used to when going to a restaurant. Gotta call from the table to order, then go up, pay and pick up your food. Food was good, but small portions. Or at least what we got, breakfast burritos, and side of scones. We would probably stop in again if we make it back there.
It wouldnt take much to make this place awesome. Ice machine was broken, was a little dirty, no marinara for the cheese sticks, etc... Just a bunch of little things. The food was OK and the place was cool, it was just the little stuff that added up to bring it down a bit.
Food didnt kill us, but the place is filthy! It was our 3rd stop out in the middle of nowhere (on a Sunday), so we took our chances. It was a really small burger, a little sketchy, fries seemed fresh and like they had been cooked in clean oil. People were nice, but as I said, the place is FILTHY!
The only things making this place unique from other 50s aesthetic diners are more like inconveniences, such as having customers grab all silverware and dressings themselves. Its rather unusual to have to phone in an order at a table too, which even 50s diners like Legends dont do. The food has nothing particularly special about it, fairly mediocre, and definitely not many healthy options aside from salads.Which, by the way, their salads seem like store-bought quality, at best. One can definitely make a better salad on their own from fresh store-bought ingredients. Portions of everything are quite small. I went in with a group of four, and every plate was only 1/3 full. These are typical dinner-sized plates youd have at home tooThey employ children around the age of 10 too, which I would have no clue how they get away with that. I would recommend most other diners over this one
You seat yourself, order from a phone, pick up your meal and pay and then eat. It is a different experience but I liked the change from the norm. The food was pretty good. Serving sizes were good and very reasonably priced.
One of my favorite places for breakfast! The food is amazing and prices are way better than most chains like ihop and Dennys
A very nice old school diner with great food and a wonderful staff. We are planning on returning with our children to get their opinion
Weird. You order at the table, get your own drinks, grab your own food, and then asked to tip. Its not the cleanest.
Amazing place to eat!! The owner and employees are the best. Food is amazing. If you havent been here you really need to. Its like having a home cooked meal that you dont have to cook.
This place is super cute, you get your own drinks and silverware. Then to order you pick up a phone and call the kitchen directly. So much character, we went for breakfast and it was amazing! I can’t wait to go back and try lunch and dinner options!
Good Food. Good People. Weve been coming here for years and NEVER had any issues. The instructions to order are CLEAR and on the front of the menus. Old school decor. Im always greeted with a happy, friendly smile. These guys and gals work their butts off. Food and vibr is ALWAYS amazing here. 🥰 The BLT and cheese fries are my favorites, the ribeye steak is my fiancée and the kids always like their options! And Breakfast the country fried steak and that pepper gravy is AMAZING!!!!!
The young teenage girl that welcomed us was hard to understand with her fast talking and gum smacking. Then she had a hard time understanding me as I placed our order over the phone. I was trying to tell her which sides we wanted with our meals (the menu says fries or chilibut I guess she thought we wanted extra sides so we got double. I should have just stuck with the fries, not the chili. It tasted like it was canned chili warmed up and sprinkled with fresh onions and cheese. The fries were bland by themselves, needed more salt, but tasted fine with fry sauce. I got a BLT, I expected the tomatoes to be fresher, not pale pink. And I was hoping for thick slices of bacon, but was disappointed there as well. The other order was a chicken cordon Bleu sandwich. We were expecting the chicken to be stuffed with the ham and cheese, but it was layered. The chicken didnt seem to be seasoned at all, not even salt and pepper. Maybe we came when the staff were having an off day, but between the mixed up order and low quality food, we will not be coming back.
Never been to a diner that has a telephone at your table to order food. Neat and 50s style atmosphere. Great menu options and prices. Definitely recommend this place!
I do not recommend this place. My husband and I both ordered burgers. The burgers reminded us of high school cafeteria food. Fast food has better quality meat... Not to mention my lettuce had spots all over it and the tomato slice was green inside. We were both really disappointed.
Absolutely fabulous! Food was so yummy, great quality and the staff are really friendly. I loved the old fashioned diner style. Wish there were more out there 💕
The theme was really nice you get to use a red telephone to call in your order and they are very timely with everything! The co workers were very nice and the food as well was wonderful, I ended up getting the ribeye steak which is the most expensive thing on the menu. This is a very good place!
I want to do 4 stars but from my personal experience, 3 is the best I can give. Theres a nice small mom and pop feel to this place. Its got a cute 50s vibe with the seats and the paintings all over the walls. The service was lacking and maybe even somewhat confusing. There are little phones at each booth that you use to order but the room is so small you can hear yourself and the person standing at the register in the middle of the room and it makes it very difficult to even understand them and concentrate on what youre saying yourself. I ordered a chicken cordon Bleu and somehow they heard a blue cheese burger. So I didnt even get what I ordered. They dont make it very clear that drinks are self serve and the guy behind the counter was pretty rude when we asked about it. They really need to make it more clear how their "system" works and not be so rude when someone asks for them to explain how we get our drinks and other condiments. Also, maybe it was just where we were sitting, but for most of the meal all we could smell were wet dirty dishes. It almost smelled like a mop bucket with chemicals in it.Well probably be back to give them another chance because the food wasnt horrible, but they need to fix a lot of issues.
This place was DIRTY! The bathrooms 🤢. I wanted to leave but my friend was dying to eat at a diner. The people dont even cone to your table for anything but to drop off food. You have to use this phone to order get your own drinks and condiments from a dirty station. My friend ended with food poisoning after eating their shrimp. The only reason they got two stars was because my Navajo taco was good, but who cant warm canned chili.
We should have walked back out. The restaurant is filthy. Its a self serve diner. There was a woman, a boy and the cook working, but only the cook did anything. We walked in right after another couple. The received their meal right away. Our meals waited until after the woman working and another man were served their meals AND they finished eating. I checked on when our food would be ready, the cook pointed to hashbrowns cooking. We waited another 15 min after that. Although it tasted good, the food was overdone on one side. As we were leaving, I saw 4 tables piled high with dishes, unswept floors, the grill had grease soaked towels underneath, the restroom was filthy. DONT GO, its not good enough food to take the risk.
Ive visited the Hot Rod Diner twice now. The food was prepared quickly and was VERY tasty each time. The grilled quesadilla was a nice appetizer. The chicken fried steak was tender and full of flavor with yummy white gravy on top. The baked potatoes were fully cooked and so good we ate the skin too. The scones were small but perfectly cooked. The honey butter was just the right amount for the scone. The blackened chicken pasta was perfectly cooked and the garlic toast helped sop up the leftover Alfredo sauce. The ribeye steak barely needed a knife to cut. At $15 it was the most expensive item on the menu, but worth every penny. The chefs salad was a meal in itself with a nice blend of meats, cheeses and boiled egg.Their prices were very reasonable, especially with the senior discount. The service and food preparation were very fast! We dined in and were out in less than an hour, even on a busy night. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Hot Rod Diner and will be back soon.
This is not your 5 star dining location. This is your comfort food, comfort feel restaurant. Prices are not crazy, so this is a good place if your on a budget. So you look like a pro when u go in: you seat yourself, you order from the red phone, you get your own utensils, drink, toppings, etc. only issue I saw was it’s got quite a bit of flies buzzing around.
Atmosphere was great. Food was great.Steak was perfectly made how I asked(I like my steak blueand was super tender. Will be back again
I love how you order! It’s a unique twist on restaurant style eating! Beautiful food and great tasting.
Excellent restaurant, great food, great menu, perfect prices, it has everything you need, such a nice place to eat and have a nice moment, it has very much Elvis Presley’s style.
Fun 50s themed diner that serves breakfast all day! Theres even an old jukebox by the door! Kids will especially get a kick out of ordering by wired phone from the table. They have a large menu with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Everything we tried was delicious! Drinks and condiments are self serve.
I had read reviews and wanted a diner for our bike ride on Sunday. Remember the training table? Close to that with the phone to call in your order.Rules to know.1. No one is coming to your table2. The menus are at the table3. Use the phone to place your order4. No one is going to tell you that you just go serve yourself for drinks while you wait for your order to be placed.5. Grab your condiments by the drinks. So I am wondering about the reviews for fantastic service? It is all serve your self.Debbie ordered the teriyaki burger and I ordered the blue cheese burger. They were okay but not to die for. The fries were cooked well hot and crispy. I like em that way but I belive they are pretty packed and not fresh cut.Perhaps I was expecting too much from the 5 star reviews. I could eat here again just not a destination diner for me.
Best diner in town! Great food, great ambiance, nice people and very affordable. I absolutely recommend Hot Rod Dinner in Santaquin!
I love this place. Inside looks nice like from the old movie. Food is delicious and not expensive. It has own ungovernable atmosphere. When you ordering food you need to write notes what you want and than call to waiter☺
Fast Service, fun atmosphere! Food is spot on as far as specific add extra this or take off that... Prices are between $4 and $12 plate and plenty to choose from including breakfast anytime! Great selection of drinks, fountain, bottled, coffee, or tea. Booth seating. Plenty of dipping sauces, ranch fry sauce, ketchup. Great oldies tunes playing on the speakers and matches the interior decor of the restaurant. The downer for us was the place didnt seem super clean... Such as a bit dusty in a few areas especially around the phones where you place your order. The floors a bit sticky. And the tables and booths werent exactly new but werent overly used and could use a deep cleaning. Thats the only reason for a 4 star review. Great place to dine! Fun for groups, and right on main Street. Plenty of parking, Jeff and crew are fantastic hosts and chefs!
So cute!!! We ordered our meals from a red phone located on the table. The phone kept cutting in and out but the girl was finally able to get the order. When the food was ready a buzzer near our phone went off. We picked up our meal and drinks and paid the bill. The restaurant is filled with cute posters and a mural. Very 50s.Watch out though ... a picture of Elvis is in the womens bathroom and it feels like he watches every move you make! ;-)The womens bathroom could use a deep cleaning.
