Love their ceviche. Friendly service. Definitely worth trying if you like Peruvian food
Amazing food and excellent customer service! Highly recommended!!
We loved this place. All the dishes we ordered were so flavorful. We left full and happy. I’ve tried many Sangria from different restaurant, this place makes the best Sangria. It’s out if this world. We would absolutely come back.
The food is good.Make sure you bring cash or debit card with you. They charges 3.5% to the credit card payment.
The food here is on point! Best Aji de gallina I have ever had (I’ve tried many Peruvian restaurants). We also ordered lomo saltado and arroz chaufa and everything was delicious! The staff was very friendly You must try this place!
Definitely recommend, i’ve never tried Peruvian food. This place made me love it more. Amazing service, food, place, etc.
First of all Im Peruvian and I know how to cook Peruvian food the right way. I was taught by my grandma and my mom.I can tell you this is the worse Peruvian food Ive ever tasted in my life. We ordered Papa a la huancaína as an appetizer. Which it was decent. My dad ordered causa de pollo and he was it was ok also. But they pour papa a la huancaína sauce on top of it a real no no. No bread was served while we waited for our food. They gave us a very small plate of cancha. For entrees my wife ordered the pollo a la brasa.. It tasted like boiled chicken, no seasoning at all and not cooked all the way. I made the mistake of ordering tallarines verdes and steak on top.... What a fumble.. No flavor at all. the steak also, horrible. Also stay from chicha morada. the only thing I can taste was the sugar in it.Overall horrible food. Ill be ashamed to call that Peruvian food or feed it to a friend. To finish it all its expensive. Now I dont mind paying for an expensive meal as long it tastes great. But, this is bad and expensive. They need to hire a new chef or at least get someone who knows the difference between dog food and real food.
Totally amazing service! Went here for my daughter’s birthday 🎉. Family loved itI got the paella 🥘. Took me back to the Azores!Be sure to call ahead and get reservations
Excellent … had the salmon , sangria was yummy and hint of spice and was delicious . Great treasure and great food. Loved the atmosphere great for family or couples . Celebrated our daughters birthday and we will come back !
Delicious authentic Peruvian food, we ordered ahi de gallina and lomo saltado both were on point, decent prices and the service is exceptional.
Such delicious, authentic food! We had a lovely time there, and well be back!
The dining experience here was amazing. Would definitly recommend. Everything is homemade and cooked with passion. You can tell they care, and thats a mark of a quality restaurant. The price is fair considering the ammount of effort they put into their work.
Service was very poor , food took longer then expected , I felt like the owner had a little attitude towards us , we ordered the aji the gallina the chicken tasted old and the rice was super dried felt like the had it on the heat table all day , ordered the pollo saltado all I could tasted was soy sauce, we loved the desert (suspiro limeño de lucumaand the ceviche was decent but everything el was not worth the wait or the money they charged for it ! Not coming back .
Good friends of ours brought us here to celebrate our anniversary with a group of 10 people. We Loved the food so much and highly recommend Inka Peru.
Great food, and great service. Left with a full stomach and a few meals for other family members. I encourage you to give this place a try :)
What an absolutely lovely spot.I was out for a bike ride to the northern burbs from Chicago. I rode by this place and was curious but kept trucking. After striking out on food in Lake Forest, where I turned around, I stopped here on my way back and was completely wowed.I got the ceviche, best Peruvian style ceviche Ive had in Chicagoland in 10+ years. Sangria was great, yuca was fried just perfect. The proprietor was great too -- friendly and funny and clearly passionate about his food and Peru.I rolled in the dead middle of the afternoon, maybe 3pm. Absolutely nobody was there but him, behind the bar. I asked if the kitchen was open. He said, "it can be." Cant beat that! Give Inka a try.
This place is such a gem. Great Peruvian dishes, pretty much everything on the menu is good. We especially love the chaufas (fried rice), jalea mixta, spaghetti pesto, and saltados. Also tried Peruvian sangria here—delicious! The service has always been standout too, everyone is super friendly. Can’t say enough good things!
I would give this family-owned gem a 10 if I could. I cant remember the last time my wife and I ever enjoyed a meal so much. Delicious food, nice presentation and excellent service. (The husband was our waiter, and the wife is the chef). Some of the ingredients are unique. If you want a wonderful meal and to try something a little different than the usual Asian, Mexican, Italian, Greek and American fare, this is the place!Especially if you love seafood. We had cerviche de pescado as an appetizer (dressing was so amazing, we took home the excess). I had Arroz con Mariscos (a seafod paella), and my wife had Jalea Mixta (fried mixed seafood but not oily or greasy or fatty at all). For dessert, we had Mazamorra Morado (warm purple con pudding with apricots and cinnamon - a real comfort food). Absolutely everything was delicious. They may be moving to Winnetka, so if you dont find them in Highwood, search on Winnetka.
What a tasty little gem! During recent trips to Miami we developed a taste for Peruvian cuisine. This place has it all: authentic, freshly prepared, Peruvian food bursting with amazing flavors. And their red wine sangria is to die for! We will be back!
Very good food!! We liked the Jalea Mixta and the Aji de Gallatina. But the winner of our meal was undoubtedly the dessert we got (combinado), which was the combination of their 2 rice pudding desserts. Our food took really long to serve, which was quite disappointing (it took an hour, literally!!but it was because they only had 1 cook that day. The food was good but our experience could have been better if our food was able to come out within a reasonable time.
I’ve lived in highwood my whole life for 31 years, and I never even knew the restaurant was here until yesterday for a bday celebration. After we arrived for the reservation they had no table set up for us. So I helped the server set up. Then we didn’t know who our server was to order. After we did finally order and waiting for are food for and hr and half. They come out and tell us that the food isn’t coming. Then they dropped a bill for are drinks lol. Have to say this place is a complete joke of a restaurant. I can tell you not even having the food that it would be awful cuz the service, well what service. Enter at your own risk.
First time I visited a Peruvian restaurant, so dilghted.Good food and serviceExcelente! 👍
Inka Peru is great. Great food great wine. Nasser and Vladimir took great care of us. We take friends there every chance we get.
Love this place.Great food, really authentic, plus everyone is super nice. Ceviche and the seafood platter are our favorites
The food and service is amazing! It’s one of the best restaurants in the area. Definitely check it out if you are in the Highwood area.
Aji de Gallina was an entree absolutely delicious, so much great flavor. Courteous and good service and menu variety to choose from.
Not sure how this has gotten such great reviews. I rarely write reviews, but my horrible experience is worth sharing. First, I will say that the food was ok. It was not bad, but it definitely was not that good. I am a big fan of Peruvian food, and the ceviche was ok, but it was way overpriced at $25. The chicken wings came out cold, and the chaufa was ok, but the beef was burnt. I might as well have gone to a Chinese restaurant and got $10 fried rice. The reason why the rating is so low is how long it took to get our food. Four different customers came in well after us and were eating before us. One table ate, paid, and left after coming in 30 minutes after us. It must have been an hour and fifteen minutes between when we ordered and when we got the entrees. We had several drinks, one appetizer, some wings, ceviche, and one chaufa and it was well over $100 before tip. Definitely not making a return visit.
Fantastic food. Awesome ambiance and great service. It felt very authentic and a truly unique restaurant in the north suburbs.
Quiet, clean, and very tasty food. Service and cultural experience was exceptional. Date night or family dinner dining experience suggested.
I really liked the food there. The servers are extremely sweet. The food is never not what you would expect from a great dish.
Half Peruvian Chicken and Purple Corn Chicha Morada.Curiosity pointed me to this place, flavorful chicken and a unique corn drink that tasted like grape juice but less sweet. Its located in an upper class neighborhood and the price reflects it . Paid $28 for the experience.
We stopped on the way home and this place did not disappoint. The place is clean the service is fantastic and the food is definitely made with love! Worth the 2 hour drive to eat at again!
Such a wonderful place the food, people and presentation was unbelievably amazing!! The food was so delicious just like in Peru! Everything represented Peru in every way in culture and style! The people here were very attentive and very happy to attend you in everything!! I highly recommend Inka Peru one of my now favorite restaurants!! 🇵🇪
We selected this restaurant on a whim while in the area and so glad we did. Naser, our waiter, was welcoming and kind. He shared his knowledge on Peruvian cuisine and checked on us frequently. We shared maduros as an appetizer and as entrees aji de gallina and vegetable chaufas. For dessert we had a delicious pudding that tasted like butterscotch. It was so flavorful - we could taste all different fruits. We can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu. Highly recommend this spot with great ambiance and comfortable seating.
Amazing find and Amazing food! Abdul was very knowledgeable and shared with us the authenticity of Peruvian cuisine. He was gracious and answered all our questions! Will definitely make a trip out here again. Thank you Inka Peru and Abdul for a wonderful time :)
We have been wanting to try this place since it opened. Last night we made reservations for four to finally give it a try before we saw a local concert. We were immediately greeted by the owner who showed us to our table then spent some time explaining the menu and wines to us mixed with some small talk. He was incredibly nice, and the way he was describing his food made us even more excited to try it.The appetizers and main courses were incredible. Unique, distinct flavor profiles and everything was delicious. Literally everyone at the table enjoyed their dishes. We are excited to visit again.Highly recommend.
The food is great, made fresh to order and delicious. The ceviche is totally different than what Im used to, but very delicious . Quite the experience.
This is the most Peruvian place I have been in Chicago so far, the food was outstanding and the service as well! I will definitely recommend this place 100%. We had Ceviche, fried calamari, lomo saltado, jalea de mariscos! Everything was above mu expectations! This place is a gem!!
Delicious fresh Peruvian food! Highly recommended.
A very warm and inviting restaurant where I was greeted by a very attentive owner whose conversation made me feel right at home. They serve some of the most delicious Peruvian food Ive ever had. The chicken was smokey and tender and is definitely the star of the show, highly recommend. I also enjoyed a good glass of wine and they had a nice selection of wine to choose from.
Great food and service. Everything we had was delicious and plentiful. The calamari and yucca fries were exceptional! Didnt get a good pic of those because we devoured them before I thought to bring out my camera.
Food was beautifully plated, flavors were wonderful. Among the foods I tried, I think the leche de Tigre, a citrus-y ceviche and a Peruvian delicacy, was my favorite. Service was great and I enjoyed my time here. I highly recommend this place for any foodie looking for “something new”.
FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN HIGHWOOD! Every time I come here, I am always AMAZED by the food and service! The food is fresh, delicious and incredibly filled with layers of flavor. The portion is very generous too, there are so much seafood in the paella, you get seafood in every bite of it.Absolutely will keep coming back!
An exceptional family-owned restaurant with friendly staff and atmosphere. Were always pleased to dine here. Their food is amazing, the customer service is top-notch, and the service is fast. On our last visit, I got to try some craft beer straight from Peru and the owner even treated us some extra treats after our meal!Highly recommend the charcoal chicken, ceviche, anticuchos, and the yuca fries.
Amazing food!! Loved every dish we tried!
Absolutely 💯 flavors of Peru! Restaurant and Cusine is outstanding. Owner and staff are friendly, and experienced.
Im Peruvian and can say, were picky about our food - this place is off to an amazing start! Very fresh and authentic, a great mix of classic dishes like Lomo saltado and arroz con pollo and some creative new combinations (like Ceviche Inka Peru, with fried calamari). The anticuchos and causa were great, the chicha morada one of the best Ive had. The place was really clean and nicely decorated, like you could have a nice celebration there, and also offered some outdoor seating. The service was top-notch, everyone was incredibly friendly and professional. Its more than worth the trip up from the city, cant wait to go back.
Excellent ceviche I had in a long time , I totally recommend this peruvian restaurant If you want to get real peruvian taste on your mouth , also Pollo ala Brasa , fantastic with delicious fresh fries and salad , anticuchos right on the dot and with all kinds of sauces
A hidden Peruvian gem. Flavorful dishes, colorful presentation, and friendly staff. We tried some amazing things for the first time: dishes prepared with tigers milk, chicha morada juice (wow!), cancha. We learned about the culture, the sourcing of ingredients, and the dishes from our lovely server and the owner, who came to say hello and thank us for visiting the restaurant. It was a fun afternoon! Thank you, Inka Peru!
INCREDIBLE. As good as eating in Peru. I’d highly recommend any of the lomo saltados or anything with the yellow aji sauce. The owner is so friendly and generous! Don’t forget to try the chicha morada and maracuya! Fun space, some outdoor dining, lots of pictures from Peru. These guys know what they’re doing & they’re doing it well.
