Stayed at Irish Creek with a group of eight for a work related trip. The space is amazing. Two full kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms everywhere with open common areas. Very clean and comfortable. Hosts were great!
Had a great visit, Steve and his wife are very knowledgeable and just great country folks who know how to treat clientele and where the game is.
Steve, and Irish Creek, help our Pheasant’s Forever chapter give hunting instruction to the next generation. In addition; he is very knowledgeable about the state of hunting in the area, where to find game, and how to have a great time with friends while in pursuit. Thank you Steve, and your wife, for all that you do.
Great host.Great place to hunt enjoy and relax.Tom Strain
We had a great time today at the hunter education class. Thank you Steve for donating your property. Pheasants Forever was a very knowledgeable group.
Had a great time turkey hunting with them!
@ the review left by Damon Gettier - I cant hardly believe what Im reading. Its COLD KANSAS DECEMBER Deer Hunting not Glamping! Stop being a weenie fair weather hunter and dont complain about cold windy weather and digital satellite cameras! If you need to drive in the field to the stand instead of quietly walking in from the road and satellite/cell cameras 5 months in advance to find deer in Kansas then you are seriously incompetent as a hunter. I bet you use a .270 too. The great people at Irish Creek Lodge dont deserve the review you left. They made our hunt one we will never forget! We plan to come back for 2 weekend hunts next year! Anyone who reads this should seriously consider Steve for their hunting and lodge needs. We loved the lodge and the birds flew great! All of us had a great time. See you next season! Thanks again Steve!!
Excellent place to stay, hunt and completely enjoy the outdoors. Fairly priced with excellent value. I expected the pricing to be much higher for the experience we had. Other hunt lodges in the area cant accommodate the size of group that Steve can. Easy access and simple to find if you come in from out of town. Hard to stay away from if you live close. If you want the best semi guided hunt Steve is the Man! We first met Steve several years back and we helped him with some predator population control on his turkey hunt lease and now we hunt pheasants, quail & the occasional chukar partridge with him. Both wild birds and controlled shooting make for a fun hunt any way you like it. Irish Creek is set right in the middle of a great watershed district and there are always birds. If you dont have a great time then you have problems because Steve and his team bent over backwards to make our experience one of the best hunts of my life! Leave the wife & kids @ home and bring the guys for a great outdoors hunt lodge experience! 5 Star ✫✫✫✫✫ Positive Feedback All The Way!
Had a blast. Wonderful people. Cant wait to go back to next year.
Wow, I dont even know where to start. Steve and his wife are wonderful people. Very nice, polite people. The lodge is an older house in very good shape, the accommodations were great. This is my seventh guided whitetail deer hunt. Now to the hunting and prior to the hunt- Steve does not believe in cameras. So much so that I bought and sent a total of 13 cameras, 17 SD cards and 170 Lithium Ion Batteries to a buddy in Texas that drove to KS to help Steve put out the cameras.Never once did I receive any pictures of any deer from the outfitter. Fortunately I sent a couple of cell cams up and did receive pics from those although in almost 2 months of them being out, we never had a pic of a deer over 130".When we arrived in KS we asked about pics of deer and the response we were given was that he did not like to go in and check the cameras as that would disturb the deer. These cams were on the corn piles/feeders that they did drive in to freshen on occasion, yet we were told they were not checked. Ironically, one of my cameras WAS checked in bow season, a 190 class deer showed up on the camera and Steve put a bow hunter on the stand and he killed the deer. We were not shown ANY deer. When asked what deer were on a particular farm the answer was always, "I cant say, its Kansas, there are deer on that farm."One hunter hunted a blind that was "200 yards from the corn", in actuality it was over 700 yards away, yes, 700. Most of Steves blinds are made out of sheet metal. Extremely noisy, extremely cold when it is cold outside. With 2 heaters running I had a gatorade freeze one morning!I did shoot a 137" deer on next to the last day- day 9. This was the only shooter I saw in 9 days of hunting and NOT what I came to Kansas for. Steve collected my cams on the last couple of days we were there and had them prepared for me to take them home. I did not notice that he had taken EVERY SINGLE card out of every camera. My buddy let him know that I was missing 17 cards and Steves wife messaged my wife to let her know that they would mail me the cards. When the cards arrived they had all been formatted- Blank- Clean as a Whistle.Honestly, I am pretty bent about the whole situation. I drove 1100 miles and spent two weeks on a trip that started off on a bad foot as we were not getting pictures.....then it went south from there. My last little hope for the whole trip was checking MY cams to see what was actually there, only to find the cards were gone and my next hope was getting the cards from Steve, only to find that he had deleted all of them! Im sorry but that is bad business. If that were not bad enough, he forgot to take one of our hunters to a stand one morning, did not make arrangements to take him on day 9 as he had bird hunters in town that were spending big money, did not re-corn places that needed it when we told him....the list goes on and on.Super nice people- not deer guides. I honestly think two things-1I think EHD hit the area harder than he said and that the herd has not recovered.2I think he uses the deer guiding to pay for the leases on the land for his bird hunting operation.9 of us were there not counting the 4 from Michigan, No-one shot anything larger than a 141", only 1 deer larger than that was seen and that was at 700 yards in a stand that was supposed to be 200 yards away.
Fantastic Outfitter in great people!!!!!!
I have been turkey hunting on Steves properties many times for several years. I am an experienced hunter so I was self guided. However, Steve has always taken the time to drive me to the properties beforehand, describe where to go, etc. I have been very successful hunting this area and on 2 different occasions even harvested 2 gobblers on the same day. The lodging is great and Steve will try very hard to make your turkey hunt successful.
Steve genuinely wants his clients to enjoy their stay. The lodge is comfortable. It is hard work finding birds but there are plenty of them.
I have been to hunting operations all over the country and hunt several in Kansas. Irish Creek Outfitters is the cleanest with every detail kept perfect including the hunting areas. I go for wild birds and Steve always makes every effort to insure a great hunt. I have gone for years and will be there again in Dec. Charles Murphy from Georgia
For several years I have enjoyed walking Kansas farm fields with an old SXS while watching dogs work pheasants courtesy of Irish Creek Outfitters. The owner, Steve and his wife Margy manage a first class operation from the spotless, well equipped and very comfortable lodging to Steves professional management of the hunt and guides. Steve has always been a very cordial host that does his sincere best to ensure your experience at ICO is a good one. I would recommend ICO without hesitation, have thoroughly enjoyed past hunts, look forward to my hunt next month and to some delicious Amish comfort food.
I along with 3 of my closest friends have been hunting at Irish Creek for the last 4 years and are scheduled to hunt twice this hunting season as well. I can honestly say that Steve has been nothing but accommodating and he strives to make sure that all of our interests are met and that we have a successful hunting experience. Couldnt be happier. Now that fall weather has arrived I am looking forward to returning to Irish Creek .Phil Mckinney DVM
Irish creek outfitters in haven Kansas is truly a haven! I have been going since 2009 and will continue as long as Steve and Margy will have us! They treat us like family and served us one of the best thanksgiving dinners I have had! By the way it was at no charge. Some years the hunting was great and some years not as good but that is hunting. I consider them friends that I dont get to see often enough.
The trip was planned by a friend. the accommodations were pleasant as was the owner. When we set out for our "duck" hunt, the stage fell apart. Two amicable young men met us and proceeded to say they had been notified the night before to "guide " us. There was no blind, no cover and no ducks. We had to get limbs and weed grass to attempt a blind to conceal our presence. What few ducks we saw were scattering and flaying as soon an they came near our futile attempts of concealment. The " pheasant hunt that afternoon wasnt much better. The fields had a few pheasants planted but they were not sporty and we decided not to shoot the ones that sat and had to be kicked to fly.The next morning, our goose hunt was similar to the duck hunt. Two college- aged pleasant guys had the same story as the duck hunt guides..they were contacted the night before to accommodate our hunt. The set-up of the blinds was not capable of attracting geese and the geese were apparently familiar with the location, staying hundred of feet away from our blinds.IT IS ONE THING TO BE SOLD ON A "GUIDED HUNT PLANNED MONTHS IN ADVANCE, BUT IT WAS ANOTHER TO ARRIVE AND DISCOVER NOTHING HAD BEEN PLANNED. I felt the owner took full advantage and apparently either thought we had never been hunting or that his attempts would satisfy our expectations.I have hunted my entire life and have been on hunts where nothing was shot; I have never been on a hunt (a paid triphowever, where I arrived and the duck and goose guide service was as unprepared and organized as this place. It appeared as if he was running a scam ad hoping to catch some naïve hunters who believed the operations were normal Had the young fellows not told us of the arrangements, I would have written it off as to just a bad experience. However, both the duck and geese fellows had the same story. Honesty would have gone a long way to quell the anger I felt. He could have admitted he forgot about our trip or had no guides and would try to make it work. His reputation may be stellar, but I can only state from my experience he sold his reputation for $750. My two associates believed the same.
