The food was fine but the extremely slow service was agonising. We had opted for the set menu.
Last weekend, a Chettinad festival took place at Jamavar, where we (9 of ushad dinner. The error on the part of Leela Palace was that they accepted our reservation for dinner even though the festival had ended by lunchtime. They then called to inform us that only the regular menu would be available and that the festival had ended. When I tried to cancel the booking, the person who handled the booking assured me that everything would be provided for dinner and that the team had been well-prepared by the Chef (who was hosting the Chettinad celebration). We were given a beautifully decorated table when we arrived. After placing the order, it took them a good 20 to 25 minutes to deliver a soup, which was a cold soup. After some time, the starters were brought out. The fish fry was very ordinary and saltless. The Kola Urundai and Chicken Chukka were delicious. We received super-cold aapams, chilled dosas, room-temperature parottas, and idiyaapams for the main course. However, despite their presence close to the serving table, the side dishes were overlooked. Things had to be served on the table after we requested it.Out of the three desserts that were on the menu, only one was available. We requested the available cheesecake, which was delivered 30 minutes after our order was placed and tasted awful. Weve never tasted a cheesecake quite like this. The manager and chef apologised to us personally and did not charge us for some of the main courses after knowing that we were generally dissatisfied with the entire experience - One thing we would appreciate.Would never return or suggest this place to anyone - terrible service, mediocre food.Undoubtedly, we would have enjoyed ourselves more at a typical Chettinad restaurant in the city.Leela Palace should understand that we pay an exorbitant amount for good food and good service - which is terribly lacking at their 3 restaurants.
Firstly the ambience of the restaurant totally blows you away .They provided a seperate section as we were a group of 12,it was seperate and exclusive to us onlyWe went for the ala carte menuFor the non veg starters we hadthe galouti kebab excellently done which brought back memories of the Radisson great kebab factoryThe Prawns was well done and succulentThe vajram fry was a letdown ,could have been done betterThe murgh Malai kebab was also excellentThe veg starters we had was baby corn fry & paneer which was very goodMain course we had the murgh dum biryani....the spice flavor came too strongly to me ,i did not like it that muchThe curry we ordered was murgh mezhagu curry ,was anticipating a pepper flavour and color but we recieved something different like a korma...did not mention to the restaurant at that time though .The garlic Nan and butter Nan were very goo .The Malabar Paratha my friend had he said was excellent as well. The vegetarians had the paneer & mixed vegetable gravy which they said was good as wellFor desserts we hadGulab jamun, malai kulfi ,elaneer payasam and ice creams...they were alright but i feel the quantity of ice cream could be more for the price paid .A minus is Charging Rs 250 for a bottle of water seems too exhorbitantOverall a great experience with a couple of correction.A sure go to place for groups as well.
Much overrated . Guess the attitude disables the abilities to serve the customers better.
Went to the restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was quite but near our corner table there was mosquitoes. The food itself was good, nothing to fault. Everything was made well and perfect. The subji was very good, different. The pulao was perfectly cooked. I wish there was more of rose or elachi flavor on the dessert though. It was a little plain for me.
We had a family lunch at Jamavar today. We had a very nice experience. Highlight was food - the Tiger Prawn starter, the Mutton Barra Kebab and Mutton Nihari stood out remarkably. Very few places you get to eat well cooked Mutton, this is one such place. The breads were a let down though. We had ordered some Naan, Missi Roti and Roomali. All were quite chewy type and below par. Hospitality was warm and caring. We were looked after well. Ambience was nice and soothing. We plan to come back again soon. Overall good place for a cozy Sunday lunch…
Worst food i have ever tasted I will not even give 1 star if its for food. We ordered set menu north indian non veg and veg thali. This 1 set menu will suffice 2 person but the waiter said only one can have. Hence we had to order two. From soup to the main course everything was horrible. Veg tomato soup is bitter in taste i cant finish fully and i wasted it. Non veg chicken soup was okay. 4 appetizers consisting 1 piece each in non veg and veg. In that veg kebab was ok and non veg chicken tikka was ok. Remaining 6 appetizers gone waste. Main course totally waste both in veg and non veg none of them tasted good. Desert was good. We totally paid around 8k which was totally waste. I think the food is worth only 500 bucks this also because of the desert which was good. I seriously wonder how they give 4.7 for this restaurant though the ambience is good. Food should speak more than anything. Regretting like anything this is why “there is a general saying 5 star hotel serves horrible food”. Disappointed literally.
Awesome ambience and food

Classy Fine dine Indian Cuisine Restaurant.
Nice restaurant. Great food. A bit expensive but worth it
Good setup, staff and ambience. It looks elegant and is elegant. We went for the set menu and I think it’s worth a try. We went for smaller course. While the quantify is unlimited, but it’s spicy so you can’t eat much. Despite telling mild spicy, it was medium+. Staff is very courteous and accommodating.
Awesome ambience N service. Must to visit.
Loved the food here . It was tasty . Ambience is too good .
Restaurant is good. Friendly people. Ambience is also nice. Quality of food is also good.
Very sad ppl rate this place at 4,8. Food one or 2 items.good. decor amazing. Hospitality very sad. Service not good at all. Waitress is not there, need to call many times. Even not even finished food water ball is given. Not even care to offer dessert. Kulfi was pretty bad Daal was.served cold. Was expecting much better service and quality in food for sure. But once experienced not to be back again
Superb food, helpful staff, beautiful ambience, can literally make your day
The staff are very accommodating and helpful. I enjoy the meal. Best Indian I have had in years. The garlic naan was wonderful and the chicken curry I had was warm, but not too hot. Aviance was wonderful.
If you are looking for an expensive, 5 Star experience and lip smacking food, Jamavar is a very good choice. The starters we ordered were baby corn fritters, which were good, but not something extraordinary. There was then a Panneer Paapdi Chaat, that was spicy and others liked it, but I was not too happy with it. The best starter was the hung curd cutlet, which was really yummy! The soup was a lentil soup, which was like a really good Rasam. The quantities are pretty good, and even a 1/3 might make more sense than a 1/2 (would save you some money too). The main course was what turned the tables for Jamavar.. nothing that we did not like that we ordered. First there was the Aapam & Stew.. one of the best made Aaapams we have tried and to go with it, some really creamy, delicious and flavourful Stew (which by the way tasted even better the next day, as we had to pack some). Then there was the Laccha Paratha, which had that nice crunch to it. Even better than the Laccha Paratha was the Paneer Kulcha. One Kulcha was enough per person, thanks to the amount of Paneer in the Kulcha and the size of the Kulcha. The kids also enjoyed their Garlic Naan. Then there was a Paneer in gravy, which was yummy.. amazingly soft Paneer and the taste was brilliant! The one that was the best dish of the day though was the Jamavar Daal (Daal Makhni), which was easily the best Daal Makhni we have ever had. The other 2 we really enjoyed prior to this was the ones at The Great Kabab Factory, and the previous No.1 spot occupied by the Daal Bukhara served at the Sheraton Restaurants. Even the Jamavar Daal tasted even better the next day. If there is just one dish you would like to have, just have the Jamavar Daal & Roti / Kulcha / Naan of choice, and your day will be made :). The Desserts that were good.. Jalebi & Rabdi, Elaneer Payasam, Malaai Kulfi. What made the meal complete was an amazing Sweet Paan that was crunchy and tasty. Overall, loved the experience and food. The ambience is wonderful too. Highly Recommend!
Dal makhni is worth dying for.. :)

Very good Indian restaurant. I personally tried only several South Indian main course items and the galouti kebab which were excellent. Have not had the chance to try the dessert. The service surpassed expectation and was very attentive. Would go back.
Outstanding restaurant with quality food. True luxury. A true 5 star restaurant.
