Jenkins Coal Museum in Letcher County

Awesome museum with tons of history about the city built by a company who mined coal. Ms Hughes, the curator, is a wealth of knowledge and great to speak with. The museum is an old depot and has been restored to era-correct condition. Lots to discover here at the museum.

Cool coal history in Jenkins

Focused on the material/story of a single individual. He was important to coal, but could be broaden to include the Jenkins story, which is significant as a planned city. Should be more inclusive of founders of Letcher County and significant of the discovery of coal. Great effort by a small town.
