MoreThe entire process was relatively easy as we were paying cash. However, since we were paying cash, it was especially time-consuming at the point of pickup, just to wait to sign papers. The car was ready, but we sat for over 30 minutes until we could sign a few forms and leave. Also, the so-called inspection they gave the car prior to leaving must not have included checking all the fluid levels, as the car overheated a day later as it did not have hardly any coolant in the reservoir.

MoreI will never again use this service department. My daughter brought her car in to be fixed for a loud noise coming from her brakes. They charged us $960 to put on new rear brakes and do a tune up. They failed to change the oil like I had asked as well. The problem was still there. When she and I both called back they would not answer the phone or our messages. When she finally managed to get to someone they would not let her bring the car back for over a week. I called another mechanic who was happy to help her. They found the actual problem and fixed her car. When they tried to call the service department they gave up after being on hold for 25 min. The new shop treated her with respect and not like a college student. Joe Machens could have cared less that her car was not fixed. Thankfully for us I was able to find someone who cared enough to help her and fix her car.
Morebought a car on July and did not get the title till September. they failed to do a state inspection on it they failed to communicate the problems getting the title. financing doesnt listen or care to ask what bank or add ons you want or dont want. do not buy a car from this place.
MoreI have bought two cars here in 6 months. The first purchase caused me a lot of problems. But, I was trying to be considerate and said nothing. 3 trips back and forth from Warrensburg, because of incompetence. My gas, my problem.I bought another car on 9-12. I have yet to see the paperwork and, again—three trips from Warrensburg. One, for my husband to beg for a car to get home, because we paid dearly for a favor ride there and they let him sit for three hours to finally tell him the car was not ready. I rearranged a flight for my son to come home to his new car. It wasn’t there. This time I was out—3 trips in gas, paying someone to help us do the transfer, and paying for a changed flight to surprise my son for nothing. Over $1000. I rearranged my work schedule and the incompetence of just having the car clean and as promised was obviously an irresponsible expectation on my part. Needless to say, I won’t buy another car EVER from this dealership. I still don’t have the papers to register or license from SEPTEMBER 12! The sales manager doesn’t even know what’s going on. My husband has been handling this, because if it was me—they could have shoved the car and I would have went the same day and bought in KC. They took $5000 in cash with no problem, but have given absolutely no service and cost me a lot of money in undue incompetence.You really shouldn’t have sent me a survey. That just tells me you are totally automated and don’t care about your business.
MoreUpdate: Joe Machens reached out and offered a refund for the inspection fee. Their customer service is on it! The way the shop communicated the fees was that they had to charge it regardless of them doing anything or not and it’s a standard fee, which isn’t the case, every vehicle is tested by an expert tech. Personally I think $160 for a engine cooling system test is steep. If it was just $60 I probably would have been more understanding because an engine cooling system test doesn’t take long and isn’t difficult. I will also add that my situation has nothing to do with a part shortage, my Jeep is a 4 cylinder TJ and the part I need has been discontinued indefinitely by Jeep which is why I couldn’t fix it myself, so naturally I look to the experts, like Jeep, for them to fix it.I have a 2005 Jeep and recently my heater feed hose started leaking coolant. With the jeep being older they don’t make the part anymore so when I took it to A-Z Auto in town they said they wouldn’t be able to fix it, they kept the jeep for 2 days, inspected it and ran tests and didn’t charge a dime (awesome place I’d recommend them). I called Joe Machens to see if they could fix it with them being the Jeep dealership in town and after a day and half after I dropped it off, I gave them a call because they didn’t reach out about it yet. They said they wouldn’t be able to fix it and charged me $160 just for looking at it. They didn’t run any tests and didn’t need to because I told them what was wrong with it. They should have been forward with me from the beginning that they couldn’t fix it, since I told them what was wrong with it in the first place.

MoreI took my Fiat 500 here a few months ago and they completely managed to overlook everything that was wrong with my car. Not only did they neglect to tell me that I needed a completely new engine, but my brake pads should have been replaced AND my rotors are completely damaged. A lot of the money and time Ive spent trying to repair my car could have absolutely been avoided if they had just taken the time to actually do their job.

MoreOrdered new Jeep in Jan. Took delivery end of May. Told dealer I had my own financing @ X%, and a clear title used Jeep to trade if they were interested. Had great interaction with salesman Aaron Veal, agreed and shook hands on a deal that had us using their financing at the same interest rate, a low (but fairprice for our trade, and we wanted to put an additional $15k down cash. Everything falls apart when we walk into the finance office. They upped the interest rate +0.15%. Rather than walk out after waiting 4 months, I reluctantly agree. After filling out most of the paperwork, finance guy says "oh by the way, we don’t meet their credit union membership application requirements (must live or work in Boone county or a family member in Boone county), can we give them a friends name phone #, and address that lives in Columbia? We’ll say that friend is a “Cousin” thereby meeting application requirements, we do this all the time." Huge red flags, but for some reason I agree and tell him Ill call tomorrow with the address. We leave. Overnight I research their credit union and find we meet eligibility requirements (legitanother way. I don’t give the “cousin” address and inform them well be using the legit path to membership application. A week goes by, no paperwork. I call their credit union, tell them about the “cousin” nonsense they are pulling and that Ill be refinancing w/my my lender as soon as they process my paperwork and have an account # with payoff $. Days go by. Machens calls on a Friday, says I called Credit Union VP and told them not to process paperwork (complete lie, I never spoke to VP, I never told them not to process paperwork), and that we have to use my financing. I arrange financing (at the X% rate I told them in the beginningand had my lender direct deposit the $ into their account the following Tuesday. Now our title application has the wrong lien holder and we need a new one. We drive over to get new title and then try to pay taxes/ file title application @ DMV. DMV says “where is your certificate of origin”? Tells us they “always see issues with this particular dealership”. We drive back to Machens to get certificate of origin only to find they had already put their credit union as lien holder that too and they were going to have to get another one from the Jeep (takes weeks). Now we are going to be past the 30 day penalty in getting title application filed and taxes paid. Machens agrees to cover late fees. Certificate arrives, we get title application filed, taxes paid, Machens gives us check for late fees. I felt that after all of this trouble, we would have some issue with the service contract we bought down the road (but would only find out after the factory warranty expires Rather than wait and see, we decide its best to completely sever all ties to this dealership and cancel the extended service contract and buy one somewhere else. (Took 5 weeks and numerous phone calls to get our money back from them on that7 month ordeal. By far the WORST new car buying experience in my life. I will never do business with ANY of the numerous Joe Machens dealerships again, and I strongly encourage anyone to NOT do business with this one.

MoreOur 2015 Promaster started having engine trouble while we were on a road trip. After trying several other dealers and independent mechanics we were on our way home to Indy and stopped at this dealer as a Hail Mary.Chris Sanchez and Stacey Ratliff went above and beyond to try to get us back on the road again, Stacey even came in on his day off to try to get the replacement parts installed. In the end their supplier was unable to get the parts to them that they needed but that was no fault of theirs.If I lived anywhere close to Colombia this would be the only place I would take my van to have work done and I cant thank Chris and Stacey enough for their efforts.

MorePurchased March 2020. Out of state buyer, roughly 6hrs away. Please read as the rating intentionally delayed. I was searching for a particular trim and color for my wifes next car. Somewhat hard to locate vehicle. Dealer accidentally listed for only a matter of minutes, I happened to find the mistake that was quickly taken down on autotrader. I had been searching for this particular car for well over a year. Yes, I have crazy patience when it comes to a major purchases and, I never leave my peoples without. Remember a POS car is better than a bad deal on a newer vehicle. (Respective of the NORMAL marketThe car market HAS been insane. As famous YouTuber (Hoovies Garagehas recently shown, it is still possible to generate a solid FAIR deal on a car! (My purchase is olderThis is exactly what I found here. I have bought several vehicles out of state, for friends and family. This was no different from any other solid deal. But well, it was better! The exact finance terms didnt go as planned, not the dealers fault. Rate was only slightly higher, definitely nothing to put the brakes on the deal. While at the dealership which was not an exorbitant amount of time, maybe 2.5hrs, I never witnessed any signs of sales people pushing customers, I also never received any sort of pushy sales tactics at the closing table. That part was out of the norm. Usually the closing guy wants to squeeze every penny out of you, NOT the case here. SOLID deal SOLID financing. To the out of town buyer: this is a clean nice town/city. Great accomodations throughout the area. Good restaurants, good drinks, a night life, and every local we came into contact with was absolutely pleasant. This is a place I would not hesitate to go back. By the way, wife loves the car, I almost cant replace. Only a set of tires and brakes in over a year. Dealer and personal mechanic looked over car, nothing wrong. MoreThey fixed my van, charged 1300 for battery and alternator. Salesman tried to sell me a car as I was trying to figure out what to do while stranded, was glared at by another. Kept telling me they were closing. I understand, but how is that helpful? Didnt even offer help getting to waffle house half a mile away, they knew I couldnt walk with all my luggage. Wouldnt return for anything.
MoreWe had a fantastic experience at Machens Chrysler. Aaron was our primary salesperson, aided by Christian. Aaron showed us multiple cars and was in a great mood throughout various test drives and discussions. When we finally decided the next day what we wanted to buy, Aaron did a phenomenal job of making it all happen. You know youre at a great place when they spend longer detailing the car than it takes to complete the paperwork!! Then, to top it all off, after we left the dealership in our new car (which we all just love), I remembered I had promised my kid Id take a pic of our trade in. I texted Aaron and asked if it would be possible to get a pic of our old car and he said hed be happy to help. Not long after, he sent me multiple pictures of both the inside and outside of our old car - way better and more considerate pictures than I wouldve taken. It meant a lot to me and my kid. We had a great experience and I would absolutely recommend.

MoreThe reason I give your service department 1 star is because you had free coffee in the waiting area. Otherwise there would be no star. I brought my car in for an oil change and A/C charge. $444.75. REALLY????? Evidently , your service department doesnt need me as a customer any longer. I know that the cost of freon is high. Its around $40 for a 16 ounce can and I get charged $224.40 for 17 ounces. But $ 145.52 labor for charging the system. Thats a Ripoff. I wont even let your shop change the air in my tires. As the cliche goes "screw my once,shame on you , screw me twice , shame on me. Id like to add, I bought a new F 150 in 2020 from Machens Ford while there was a big rebate going on. I guess the sales team members were racing to see who could sell the most F150 s. I asked the salesman if there were any rebate sales coming up on the super duty trucks. He told me no.Two days later there was a similar sale on the supers . Ive always had the service performed at your Ford dealership. Never again. Essentially you have lost two customers. Woops ,I stand corrected. The freon comes in 4 ounce cans. 4 cans of 1234yf for $80

MoreI came in the other day with my vehicle to have the radiator checked due to a leak and an oil change. I had to call by the end of the business day to find out the status of the vehicle because no one contacted me. At that point, when all the technicians left for the day is finally when I was asked if I wanted my part changed out which I agreed. Next day I was called that it was all done and ready to pick up, over 24 hours from drop off when I was originally told the whole process would only take a few hours. When I picked it up, I drove home and checked the work done. I was charged for coolant but none was put in so I needed to return to the location to have coolant added. Was told the best they could do was take $20 off the next time I come, which I won’t be coming back since I was out of a vehicle for an extended time for a simple fix and then had to return because their work was not checked.

I am reposting my review now because my husband took my van back and the guys in the service department were totally accommodating and responsive, they redid the job and even refunded us for all the work they had done the week before. Great job with winning back a long time Chrysler customer! This is my 3rd Chrysler mini-van and I am happy to say that I am leaving feeling great about Joe Machens service department.
