You can tell how wonderful this place is not only by the atmosphere, staff, and food, but the amount of people who are waiting to get in! I loved my visit to San Antonio from Idaho, and this spot was definitely a highlight! Everyone is so kind and worked so hard to meet everyones needs. Great work!

We went here for brunch with a friend that lives locally. We ordered the County style Bennedict - It had AMAZING fried chicken. We also got the fried egg sandwich with avocado and the overnight french toast. The sandwich was a great standard breakfast sandwich, but we were fighting for extra bites of the fried chicken on the benny so I think we did not fully appreciate the sandwich. The overnight french toast looks and tastes like a decadent dessert. It comes with frosting on top, there is chocolate inside and lots of cinnamon and sugar throughout. You definitely do not need syrup for this one, but be aware it is more of a dessert than a standard french toast breakfast.Update: I visited again with a few friends. This place is as good as I remembered. See photos for classic scramble and French toast.

Such a let down, after all the good reviews Id read.Waited 25 minutes for my coffee to be served and the server waited for the coffee to come out to take our food order so it was a lot of time spent twiddling our thumbs before I could get her attention.I got the veggie skillet and asked for avocado, what was put in front of me was dismal. The serving of avocado ($3was all of about 2 teaspoons worth, the goat cheese that came in the skillet was even less, the whole thing was just full of potato. Premium ingredient price with mainly cheaper ingredients bulking it out.Also found bacon/ham through my eggs, which is a bit inconsiderate for someone specifically ordering a vegetarian option.Overall, a really disappointing experience. If it wasnt for multiple small issues, it would have been a good meal.Only redeeming quality was that the coffee was decent (for American standardswhen we finally got it.

Went for the first time the other day and it was a wonderful time! Staff was super lovely and helped me choose out a super yummy brunch and coffee! We sat outside on their cutely set up patio and ordered the steak and Benny it was super yummy!! Definitely going to be coming again!

Service was extremely slow and the food was definitely not worth what we paid. I had a classic skillet and my eggs were extremely over cooked and dry. My sister had the avocado toast and she was not impressed. The toast had thick slices of salmon. Our food came out before our coffee.

I used to love this place, but I can’t fathom the idea of paying 12 bucks for a martini that is served in a plastic orange solo esk cup. It is just not worth it. Also, I’m not sure when they stopped doing blended coffee drinks but that was a surprise. It’s just not what it used to be and with so much competition I’d probably pick somewhere else

Tonight on a Saturday it was so dead and I see why. We ordered the s’mores and they had us go next door to a store to buy chocolate, because they didn’t have any🤦‍♀️ Then we wait and they come tell us they have no marshmallows. They offer a refund, but then can’t figure out how to give one.. we also had tipped and knew that couldn’t be refunded.. a waste of time and money.

I enjoy coming here to study and have some delicious Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk sitting at the bottom.It can get busy but I just throw on my headphones and get lost. The staff is always friendly and helpful but the tables and seats can be pretty dirty. I’m sure they try to clean up as people come and go but for the most part, I usually have to ask. There is always a fly or two hanging around and it’s pretty warm once you pass the bar area. However, I would suggest a visit. They’re also at a good location. Right in front of theSan Antonio Riverwalk (not the busy part of the riverwalk where you can walk, bike, or just hang out.

Been here before a few times before writing this review but this review is strictly for the after dinner drinks/ evening vibe. The espresso martini and pink poodle drink are outstanding. I had had coffee here before as a means to waste time while at work before this review but my gf and I decided to have after dinner drinks. Staff behind counter were extremely friendly and quick with the drinks for having orders stacked on them with the late evening crowd/ regulars. Vibe was extremely chill, plenty of room and good mix of late night studying students and bar hopping peeps. Prices are what youd expect and I did not try any food but definitely will next time. Great spot to hit up while exploring southtown. Parking wasnt too bad.

We were looking for a pet friendly option and found this gem. I didnt realize it was right on the Riverwalk (you cant see the water, but its a very short walk.The food was amazing! We had the fruit waffle and the chicken biscuit w/potatoes. The table next to us even raved about their food. Great little spot for breakfast/ brunch.

Cute place to eat and have a coffee. The breakfast burrito with chorizo was probably the best burrito Ive had.

Neat place with good food and drinks! Patio is dog friendly. The Overnight French Toast was DENSE but pretty yummy! Chicken Biscuit was good just not very filling. Fun place to go with friends. Long Island Iced Coffee is strong but good (;(Gave 4 stars because it wasn’t anything special with the food, bit expensive for what we got but that’s my opinion)

Such a great spot for breakfast. Sometimes I come just for the espressos or coffees which are always made to the highest professional standard and taste amazing. They have indoor or outdoor seating (which overlooks the riverwalkand when the weather is nice its quite enjoyable to just sit outside and enjoy my latte.

I don’t understand how you order, is given a number, still have to go up to the Bar to pick up your coffee / drink. We weren’t even told though that we had to pick up the drink until our food was walked over to us. Doesn’t it make sense to also walk over our drinks as well? If it wasn’t for me asking for our drinks, the cashier wouldn’t of noticed that her receipts weren’t printing.We would’ve been waiting longer than we were. There was no apology either. The staff seemed annoyed as well. I gave 2 stars since our drinks and food was decent. We wont be returning though.

I was really excited about finally making it to this coffee shop because its in my new neighborhood. We got the worst service from a girl that was there though.. I had been in and out eating and getting water for my children because we were waiting on appointments downtown. My brother met up with us to help out and when he went in and asked for water for the children the girl said that we had to order something... And the water was even out for anyone to have my brother just didnt notice...I cannot imagine anybody thinking its okay to deny anyone let alone children water on a hot day...Needless to say this will not be my neighborhood coffee shop.. 😢😢

We found this place by chance on our last visit to SA. I can say that we are glad to be back to enjoy some coffee this weekend!!The atmosphere is laid-back and it was fun to hang out and sketch some!

Several of us run downtown and start at the Blue Star trail. We wanted to have a breakfast and coffee outside this past weekend after a run so we wanted to try out Halcyon. Underwhelmed. Overpriced. Menu needs adjusting.I ordered the breakfast burrito, which shows 4-5 different kinds of meats. One would assume since they are all listed, that they all come in the burrito. NO, they dont. You choose one, which is not stated. You can pick more than one (for an up-charge), which I was originally going to do. I chose brisket and added on bacon. Price on menu shows $11, the lady at the counter said it would cost $2-$3 more for the 2nd meat...fine. My order total came out to $19! I asked to see it to see how it went from $11 to $19 adding only one meat. Well, they added the brisket charge which was $6. So I took off that and just said I wanted the one meat. Had to call the manager (I assume, she never introduced herselfto the computer to correct the add-on. The manager had the worst attitude. When she gave me the new total it was still nearly $5 more! She had generously added on an almost $5 tip. At this point, I felt they were just trying to scam people out of money, I asked for it to be removed. Paid for my food and carried it to the table myself. SUPER disappointed in this business. We will not be returning. Food wasnt memorable. My friends said their coffee wasnt the best. Poor customer service. Menu needs updating. And prices are too high. Watch how they add your tip.The one good thing they did was give us 3 plates for the girls birthday cake, which was appreciated. Between the 3 of us dining in, no one said it was memorable enough to stick around to visit again the next time we are there running.

Brunch was amazing huge portions and great service

I wanted a good breakfast spot and Google led me here. For a party of one, it was going to be a 45 minutes wait. I waited and the hostess said I could sit in the back and order food. So, I did that. I sat down and no one helped me. After about 10 minutes, I flagged down a waitress and she said I had to order at the To Go stand and then take it to the back to eat where I sat. There was no table service in the back. There was some confusion there.The food was super quick. I ordered the Chicken and waffles. It was very good. The bacon was floppy and no crispy (I like it crispy). I also ordered a Thai Iced Coffee. It was good because it wasnt sweet until the end.I will give this place another shot. I rated it three stars because the service and hostess were not on the same page.

Great selection of coffees. free wifi, lots of places to work with a couple of outlets. Service seems to slow to a crawl when they are not busy, which is counterintuitive. The staff isnt super friendly, but I guess they havent had their morning coffee yet.

Ambiance is nice and the svelte bowl are very good. The vegan bread pudding however, is not. They did not have the regular bread pudding, so we ordered the vegan option. It was very dry, sour and lacked flavor. For the price, we were expecting better quality and taste.

Food excellent! Drinks excellent! I’ve been three times now so I can’t think this is a one off but the staff vibe is judgmental hipster….I just don’t get it. I guess normal for the area now and society in general but it didn’t used to be like this. Oh well…I still like it.

Chai Latte is a bit too intense, but otherwise good. Best Mocha Latte is the best Ive had on our trip. Really good.

I really like eating at this place. The are and the atmosphere of this place is what I enjoy the most. The food is pretty good and the coffee, or whatever your morning drink is, is really good also. You wont be disappointed trying this place out. I recommend this place.

We had visited here earlier in the week and really enjoyed their happy hour drinks. The $5 double mimosa was great. However, we came back later in the week expecting the same experience and were highly disappointed. The glasses they used during the second visit were much smaller and the champagne was flat. Our friend also ordered the double mimosa after us and received the original larger glass.The other issue is the lack of vegetarian options. This is a place that has meat on almost everything. You can ask for it without meat but it will still cost the same. And if you want to replace the meat with avocado, it’ll cost $3 more - doesn’t really make sense since we’d be saving them the cost of the meat.

One of my favorite cafes — not too crowded but also not too quiet. It’s perfect for getting some work done or catching up with friends. It’s also LGBTQ+ friendly, which is an important factor for me. Coffee and food are always good and the employees are lovely.

Fun atmosphere but Their coffee made my stomach really upset, It must have to be something with the milk. I’ve never had a problem with coffee before. Properly store your milk please.

Sat outside (seat yourself, order food and drinks by espresso machine). Tables were a little close together but we had enough space to eat.Breakfast (banana hazelnut waffle and veggie skilletwas decent. Coffee (drip- if you like dark roast for drip then the medium roast here is for you but not for me. Iced Vietnamese coffee was good. Coffees arrived at the same time as food.

We came here twice during our 3 day stay in San Antonio. Both times for breakfast which did not disappoint. Food was tasty and fresh, and the coffee was great. Loved the vibe and location next to the riverwalk!

I don’t think I’ve ever left a bad review, but today’s experience was simply disappointing. Firstly they didn’t have the right menu available at the correct time. I ordered an egg sandwich with avocado, (that’s an extra $3and received none on the sandwich. I politely asked someone about it, waited about 10 minutes and had to remind them again for it. The egg sandwich (for $10was rather disappointing. It has American cheese, an unseasoned fried egg and barely toasted bread. The potatoes that came on the side were also not flavorful and terribly cooked. I also ordered the late of the week to go, and received the wrong coffee. I didn’t feel like correcting them again.Just an update, they still haven’t responded to my email.

The banana waffle was amazing. Eggs and bacon were also yummy. But sadly the Salas was not hot at all. It was like tomato sauce, no kick. The chocolate martini really hit the spot.

This place is literally right next to the Riverwalk. You can eat and then go walk it off afterwards. There are indoor and outdoor seating options, we were quickly seated and the place is cozy. The coffee wasnt as strong as I prefer, and the food was ok. The big draw to coming here, for me, is the vicinity to the Riverwalk. You can "eat and run."

You cannot go wrong with ordering the down with the thickness. It was full of flavor and was very filling. If you’re looking for a place that offers servers, this isn’t the place but if you’re looking for a place that you can bring your dog on a patio while enjoying some great food, this is right up your alley. They even offer treats and water for your pup.

This is my go-to coffee spot and I can’t believe I hadn’t reviewed it before. I live in the northeast part of the country now but the few times a year I come down I always come here. Even when I try new places in SA, I still always make my way here. I love the vibe. Tables and comfy chairs/couches inside, and seating outside as well. Lattes and food are really good. Sometimes if you come on a busy day you’ll stand in line for a bit and so it will take time for your order to come out but it’s never been that bad. I’ve had brunch here and it’s really good; I’m glad they have gluten free options. Workers are always nice and friendly. I’ve also come here late at night for drinks. I think hh has $6 sangria!Probably what I love the most is that it’s right on the river trail. Sometimes I’ll grab a latte to go and walk the trail. If you want you can take it straight to the downtown riverwalk in about 30-35 minutes. There are also bikes nearby as part of the city bike rentals.

Great brunch! The skillets are generous and very good. Chicken and Waffle w Bacon was excellent. Chicken cooked to perfection with a light batter, Flavorful bacon, perfectly Crisp Waffle. Everyone including the 4 year old in the party liked then experience. I recommend highly.

I really loved the vibes here, its very happy and lively. Went here to get coffee but ended up eating a lot. I did like their coffee. I tried the weekly special. we tried their chicken biscuit and banana bread muffin.It was a good experience and definitely going back.

The wait is forever. The VIETNAMESE COFFEE is a joke. It confused me as a Vietnamese for a second. Mine had a little sweet flavor while my husband’s is sour without condensed milk at all even though I confirmed with the waitress that it would come with condense milk. Everyone around were confused walking around looking for their orders and drinks as it took too long. Nice to try, but may not come back!

First of all, I was so hyped up to see Thai iced coffee on the menu as Im Thai. Its definitely NOT Thai iced coffee at all! It tasted way too different. Its more like iced coffee with condensed milk.Next, We got to order at around 12.30pm but got food at 1.25pm which it was served to other table that got there after us and we need to talked to the staffs to figured it out about our food. Also, it took 30 minutes to get our drinks. And ofc, its mixed up.Food was all right. There is nothing special about it besides when it got to us some dish was not freshly warm from the kitchen at all since it was at wrong table then went back to the counter.Anyway, the location and the place are nice. But its restaurant right!? food and drinks should be better than how the place looks!

So we Love Breakfast; we Love New Places; and We Love Great Service! This place almost got 5 Stars but the bussing staff (female with short pink hairalmost caused us to leave without trying it first! As a Newbie, we asked how food was ordered and how seating worked and she responded rudely as if we were being a bother to her! Well, we decided to still give it a try and the actual waitress was Nice and the Food was Super-Good! Love that they refill your coffee; good music; and self-seating worked out! But, again, avoid the rude bussing staff member (short pink hairwho totally lacked Customer Service and a Friendly Personality! Again, we almost left but glad we didn’t! Oh, and Waffles only served between 8am - 11am! 👍🏽

Come for the drinks, stay for the food and atmosphere!!! They were very busy but still remembered my name. Food was great dont be fool by the pic this is the best gluten free meal with bread Ive ever had !!! Ive been missing grilled cheese !!!!

So fun! It’s an “adult” coffee shop for drinks. You can get with or without alcohol. I’ve seen kids in there also during the day so it is family friendly. It’s doesn’t feel like a bar, feels like a really fun coffee shop. Just a fun atmosphere as well… I haven’t tried the food. Just drinks.

Absolutely amazing food! The staff is a tad bit disorganized, but I understand they are not working with an entire team at the moment.The indoor restaurant seating fills up quickly, and there is no shade on the outdoor patio, but if you get your food to go, there is a park with picnic tables right across the street with shade from the trees.

Nice and calm place to hang out for coffee or a drink. Went in the evening. Open till 2am. I had the egg sandwich. Over easy egg with tomato and bacon, on a nicely toasted Texas bread. Very good! With a side of potatoes. Super nice staff! A walk on the near by trail made for a great evening.

Would agree with other reviewers fantastic food and coffee, would be 5/5 if they had any semblance of customer service. In addition to the excellent food they have a 10 percent military discount. In regards to the service - seating is first come first serve which I like, but you stand in line for 30 minutes waiting to order because they don’t tell anyone you have to come up to the counter ready to order. After ordering our food came in 15 minutes apart as well which was unfortunate. Initially I thought they were just short staffed, but my experience was consistent with other reviews. I would recommend the owner really focus on improving their customer experience and it would be consistent 5/5 I suspect.

This place was so good. We got the Overnight French Toast and the Country Style Benedict. Between four of us we tried a few cocktails but the grapefruit mimosa was definitely the best. I loved the style of this place and the food was so good and a great way to fuel up for our Missions ride.

Havent been here since 2017 and this place still doesnt disappoint. I only used to come here for coffee and cocktails, but this was the first time eating here and it was so good. Had a few cocktails and coffee. But this veggie scramble, had to add meat but so damn good! Staff was very friendly as well

Restaurant was great! I was in San Antonio for the weekend and came here two mornings in a row for brunch.1st experience I’d give it a 10/102nd experience I’d give it a 8/10Food is great 10/10Customer service 8/10Ambiance 10/10Would have given 5 stars but second morning experience felt like I wasn’t given enough attention compared to others. I understand there are a lot of customers and it can get busy. Apart from that, highly recommend especially when in San Antonio.

I went to Halcyon this past weekend for brunch with one of my friends. This was my first time ever going to this restaurant so I wasnt really sure what to expect.When we arrived, the place was crowded. Absolutely no room to park in the small parking lot behind Halcyon. Eventually, we parked on the street in a nearby neighborhood and just walked over. It wasnt a terrible walk so we honestly didnt mind. There wasnt a line at the front so someone was immediately able to seat us. The only available place for us to sit was outside at the tiny bar, which we settled for. Eventually, when one of the tables freed up my friend and I migrated over to it and took a seat there. We still ended up sitting outside but neither of us minded since the weather was just PERFECT.We were quickly served our drinks after we sat down. I ordered the cappuccino and my friend ordered the Long Island Iced Coffee. The cappuccino was honestly one of the best that Ive had in a while. The flavor was good and intense. I also loved how they put a bear on top of my drink. It looked almost too pretty to drink! The Long Island Iced Coffee was also great! It was pretty strong but the flavor was so nice that it didnt really matter.The food took an oddly long time to arrive after we ordered it but it was so busy that we kind of understood. Luckily, we brought a card game to play while we waited so it didnt feel like forever. Eventually, our food arrived. I ordered the Overnight French Toast and my friend ordered the Eggs Benedict. The Overnight French Toast was not what I was expecting it to be, it was honestly better than what I was expecting. It was fresh, and well-presented. The cream cheese on top was amazing. It wasnt too sweet, but just perfect. The fruit on tp paired perfectly with the cream cheese topping. The chocolate on top was hidden beneath the cream cheese so it surprised me but it was an amazing addition to the dish.The staff at Halcyon were friendly but not exceptional. I liked their atmosphere and the DJ that they had playing music during their brunch hours. I am also a huge fan of their dog-friendly atmosphere. I just wasnt a fan of their small parking lot, and their prices are a bit high for what theyre offering.Overall, I would highly recommend Halcyon to anyone looking for a cute place to go for brunch. You might have to splurge a bit but it is totally worth it.
