Great pizza, but if you doing take out, your gonna want to put your pizza back in the oven when you get home, cause it will be soggy. Also parking isnt ideal. Be prepared to walk a mile or 2.
Best pizza in Capital District. Friendliest employees with amazing attitudes. Place is just plain fun surrounded by great people.
Best pizza and one of the best places for friendly service. Always a crowd but well worth the wait. Great menu with selections for all family members. Mozzarella sticks with blueberry dip is fantastic.
Great food as always. Both regular and gluten free pizza had plenty of toppings and they have a wide selection of beer on tap.
The service was prompt.our order came quickly after the long 20-25 mins of wait for table.the place was full and its definitely met our expectations..Whats stood out for us was the drive to this place. We went around 630 and fall colors were beautiful along the lakes shore line..Definitely worth a drive for the sumptuous food..huge thumbs up..:)
Havent been this year, but I know it will be great there.Well, I have been there recently, twice in fact! FANTASTIC! Pizza absolutely delicious. Wings needed more kick and they took care of that. Wait staff were great. Love the way they tag-team. Makes things run really Smooth. Thanks team.
Ive been coming here over 40 years and Ive never been disappointed. The food is exceptional 😋
Kays is hands down the best pizza in the capital region. If you havent been, youre missing out. Pro tips: order your takeout right around opening time in the busy summer months, if youre coming to eat here in person bring your fishing pole/license for while you wait for a table. Order the kays special. If youre from here, you already know everyone in the restaurant anyway, so enjoy the family style seating. I also order and freeze a pizza to enjoy over the winter when Kays closes (its only open seasonally)
The food is excellent, cooked perfectly. Its gets pretty busy for dining in and take out. The staff are soo nice. Shout out to Lori (?)She was great. I cant wait to go back next season.
I have heard so many great things about this place. I am glad that me and my sister and my friend and her daughter came here to get pizza. It was so delicious. Will be going back again soon. Thank you 😊.
Great food, good service. The pizza here is excellent.
Pizza was delicious. Love the atmosphere, I have been visiting Kays since I was a child. Love the new outdoor seating
The best pizza you will ever eat. I also had the fried pickles& mozzarella sticks with a house made raspberry sauce for the mozzarella sticks& house made tyger sauce for the pickles both dips were amazing& mozzie sticks& fried pickles were awesome.
This place showed me a first. We ordered a everything Pizza which has 12 toppings and we opted to not get tomatoes as one of the toppings. When the bill came I was surprised to see a credit for that topping. When ever you add a topping you get charged but to see a place actually crediting for a topping removed is unheard of and I commend this place for this. If the parking wasnt so bad only a half hour after opening I would have given five-star. No parking When there are open tables comes with a deduction. The wings were also great along with the pizza.
Best pizza in the Capital Region hands down. Exceptionally attentive and friendly service for a place that is always jumping. Every ingredient stands out in every bite. Our family has been eating at Kays for years and the consistency in preparation amazes me.
Came here because it was voted the best and was highly disappointed. Almost anywhere else Ive gotten pizza has been better. Starting to question the capital regions taste buds.
My wife didnt care for the pizza. I thought it was okay. They charge you the same amount if you have toppings on half the pizza or the whole pizza. The atmosphere was beautiful though we sat along the lake it was a beautiful night. The whole meal was $49 plus tip. Kathy and I each had a beer.
Ordered take out for our first ever experience at Kays. Driving up, my first impression was that this place is far too crowded and the parking situation sucks. (Cars lined up on the streets). But the takeout line was drive thru. It made what could have been a stressful situation soooo much easier! I was impressed! While waiting, which was not long at all, we got to admire the lake. The food was still hot when we got home and man, it did not taste like takeout at all! Given how busy they were, the food was excellent! Other restaurants in town fail in comparison to presentation, flavor, temperature and quality when busy. We will definitely be back!! I just wish they were open year round and delivered.
Lovely spot to dine near the water and watch the ducks. The mushroom / meatball pizza, calamari, and antipasti were delish!! Will most definitely go back!!
Great famous pizza, with a nice view of the lake. Prices are good.
Like that they expanded the place more room now and the food is still fantastic
Way over hyped! One of the biggest disappointments ever! Reminded me of Godfather pizza that used to be in gas stations. I question anyone who gives this pizza a decent score if you even really ever ate pizza before.
Amazing pizza with a light but crunchy crust with no grease and tons of cheese ! Kind of like a high end luxury Pan Pizza from another popular pizza restaurant but way better ! Atmosphere and scenary fantastic !
A wonderful Gem in the rough. Was very popular tonight at 4pm but no wait. My first time at the establishment and the owner came to our table introduced himself and was very engaging with pleasantries. I wish it was a bit closer to my house 😂. Place was clean and well maintained. You may have to park down the road and walk a small bit if busy.
Iconic Kays on Burden Lake is a institution in small town charm and delicious pizza. Only opens between April to October-ish. Excellent pizza (Baja chicken for a spicy kick), good wings and fries. The setting is really the icing on the top, very homey and welcoming with that classic nostalgic feeling. To top it off, youre right on the water. Highly recommend a visit.
Atmosphere like wow, pizza like what, perfect summer evening.
My husband has been going here for the last 3 decades. He absolutely loves it. I started going here last year. Fantastic pizza and amazing Staff. Get there early or youll have to wait normally 20-45 mins for a table. Best pizza in upstate New York.
What can be said about Kays that has not already been said. This place has been a staple in Upstate, NY for as long as one can remember. I look forward to visiting every year. The atmosphere is great, and with the added outdoor seating it has been even better. The service was over the top, and the food was delicious. Keep up the work team.
Ive been going to Kays for many, many years, and I have to say that the pizza we had last night tasted better than ever! I am not sure what, if anything, changed, but it was definitely some really good za. The waitstaff, as always, brought their A game. Time for Portnoy to visit!
I have heard about this restaurant for years. I had the opportunity to visit twice this week. On my first visit I ordered the pizza. It was excellent. Nice crispy thin crust. I ordered it as take out and the service was fast. On the second visit, I dined in. I was seated immediately. Our server Olivia was good. We ordered the seafood platter. The menu said haddock, scallops and shrimp served with salad and bread. We received haddock, scallops and fried clams pasta and bread. We were told the salad doesn’t come with the seafood platter. Slightly disappointed. I will stick to pizza there going forward. Nice location on the lake. Parking is insufficient.
First timer and I I have to say the hype is deserving. Amazing pizza and service. They were slammed yesterday but our waitress was on top of it. Can’t wait to go back!
Heard so much about this place. Lots of 5-star reviews. Thing is, most people have never had really good pizza. Decided to try Kay’s yesterday. My impressions of their $27 medium veggie pizza? First, the crust is meh. Absent are the delicate crispiness and chewiness of a really good crust. Toppings - the same bland food-service olives used at the cheaper pizza joints. Tiny shavings of broccoli florets. A lump of potato here, a chunk of yellow bell pepper there. Flavorless cheese. In all fairness it was maybe a three-star pizza, but I subtracted two stars for the price and added one for the beautiful location on Burden Lake.
FINALLY had Kay’s pizza & wings yesterday, 5/9. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! The HYPE is TOTALLY REAL!! Wings were crispy on the outside & so JUICY inside. Pizza was the best!! Wish I could give Kay’s 10 stars.
Pizza and wings were excellent. No air conditioning for those who require it. The views were beautiful sitting right on the lake and the staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely lived up to the hype I’ve heard.
Uh oh. Ive been going to Kays for many years. While this is definitely a capital district style pizza, not remotely similar to NY style pizza, I am nevertheless a big fan. I have previously gladly given Kays 5 stars.Tonight was our first visit to Kays this season. And it was a big disappointment. The pizza was just not very good. I hope it was just the result of getting new cooks up to speed with the recipe and the process.
The food here is amazing, very friendly atmosphere,i went for a pizza, you just have to try it for yourself, you gonna thank me later.
Myself my husband Brian and his parents and our daughter Sophia went for dinner one week and it was fast and delious and everyone was welcoming and so polite and naive best time for my first time there . will be going a lot when opened thank you all again best time ever from the Reedy Family
Good service, and food. I didnt try the pizza. Wings were good.
Unbelievable how they can seat so many people. I had to walk a LONG way for parking, yet there was still no line waiting for tables. Nostalgic favorite for pizza. Decent beer list.
Ive been going to Kays my entire life, which is now many decades. So many memories. It just wouldnt be the same if they leveled the floor, but the new outdoor dining option is an upgrade. I remember the days of wood grain paper plates. I try to get back once a year when Im in town, but after missing it for the last 2 and dining al fresco made it extra special. Im not sure why anyone would order anything other than pizza, but there are a lot of options. Friendly service, but get there early. 🍕
I’ve spent YEARS wanting to try Kay’s but the line continuously scared me away - I finally got to try it! The pizza was good (Not as good as it’s hyped up to be.. but goodMy husband and I agree that the wings were better than the pizza. The fried pickles were by far the clear winner. Stars taken off for the fact that refills aren’t free.
First timer at my wifes request. We drove nearly an hour to try this place. Outdoor dining right on the lake, nice. Fast and friendly staff. Clean. Good prices. Kids loved the pizza. They even tried the calamari. Im a pizza guy so, IMHO, I know whats good. This place did not disappoint. It is a solid four star restaurant. This pizza also reheated well the next day and might have even tasted better. If you are near or far give it a try. The lake is beautiful.
Kay’s pizza is famous for a reason, the staff are friendly and the food is excellent. Get the fried pickles and Thai chili chicken pizza ( don’t forget to add broccolithey are delicious. Always take people who are in town for a visit to Kay’s when they are open for the summer.
We drove almost an hour and got there 45 minutes early to beat the crowd in order to get some of the BEST Pizza in the area, it was my Sons 1st time eating it and he was very happy, this place is awesome and I cant wait to come back 😀🙌👍🏽🔥🔥❤❤
We only get Kays Pizza to go because the place is so popular that waiting for a table is crazy when we live 2 minutes away. The pizza is like no other pizza you have ever had. In the winter when we have to get pizza from other places we are kind of disappointed. Kays pizza does not skimp on the sauce which makes the pizza better and does not skimp on the toppings. It is the best pizza in the area hands down!
We just move to the area from Brooklyn to a cabin and had no idea we would find our selves in the most magical pizza spot we have ever been to. The Pizza was out of this world, the view is phenomenal and somehow the service is even better!! Will be back all the time.
No Doubt, its one of the best pizzas I ever had. Big menu with great options. The servers were nice and friendly. They have some games and boat shaped machine for kids and our servers got coins for our kids which was really a sweet gesture. Going there is quiet a travel thru country roads but totally worth. We got there pizza kit too which I cant wait to try. :-)
Great pizza. Have to get there early because food that good
Kay’s is a one of a kind experience nested on A serene lake with a family atmosphere and a trademarked wavy floor.Pizza is hands down best I’ve had in a while. We started with some yummy deep fried avocados and steamers both very good, enjoyed local brewery ales and finished with their thick doughy crust under a bbq pulled pork pie that did not let us down!Celebrating 60 years! The parking lot was overflowing down the lake and no one was hesitant to walk to distance for a slice of this pie.
If you are reading this review I assume you know how good Kays is and if not go now! They have some of the best pizza around and I have tried a few. It is original yet still a great pie. The whole experiance from beginning to end is unique.
