Kindle in Sussex County

My twin sister and brother-in-law (who is a foodiewere in town from MA so we wanted to take them to a cant miss restaurant - Kindle and they didnt disappoint. We asked for our favorite waitress, Corrine and were fortunate to get one of her tables. Shes terrific. We had the mussels and baked brie appetizers and both were delicious. I had the Pan Roasted Filet Mignon and as usual it was cooked to perfection. My wife had their Roasted Squash Cornucopia and it was delicious. My twin sister had the Shrimp & Polenta she said the sauce was "absolutely delicious". And my brother-in-law, at Corrines suggestion, ordered the Grilled Pork Rib Chop which he said was the best he ever tasted. We just had to compliment the chef, Daniel, in person and he graciously came out to our table so we could tell him about our perfect dinner. The apple cobbler and pumpkin cheesecake desserts along with large sized cups of coffee topped off our evening. My twin sister and brother-in-law both want to go back to Kindle next time they come in from Massachusetts. Thank you Kindle staff. Bob & Wendy

Outstanding food my wife and I went to celebrate her Birthday. We will definitely be back. We both ordered filet mignon. This was cooked to perfection. The Thursday night special comes with a glass of wine. While the filet was great dessert was excellent! My wife had the pumpkin cheesecake while I had the triple chocolate cake. Both were amazing and were the highlight of the food. We received excellent service from Debbie who was on point the entire time.

We were a table of 4, seated immediately, great server, delicious food and a well mixed cocktail.

Had a very enjoyable meal there.

The salmon fillet I ordered was raw inside. The waiter took it back to the kitchen and the chef threw the pieces back in the pan and the dish was brought back to the table. Frankly, it looked very unappetizing. The salmon was not seasoned either.

A bit of a wait for the table and food..but definitely worth the wait !! Lamb shank, striploin, burger and this clam couscous dish was an absolute delight. Peach Cobbler and Lemon cake for desserts, equally impressive. A place I will re-visit everytime I am back in town ! Friendly waitor Aden also made it even more enjoyable.

Filet is excellent. Try the fries, really good

Wife & went there on spec on Friday night and were agreeably surprised with the food & service. I had the filet mignon sandwich and it was perfectly cooked - one of the best steaks that Ive had. The rest of the meal was just as good and the service, on a very busy night, couldnt be faulted. Will definitely go again on our next visit.

This is our favorite restaurant on the shore! We have eaten here several times and had great food and very good service every time. We always bring our guests from out of town. A few days ago we visited for my sister in law’s birthday and had a great meal. I had the lamb shank which was served with a potato and celeriac purée and it was tender and delicious. We’ll be back!

Totally in love with this location! The cuisine was outstanding, the service was outstanding, and the tasty and enjoyable beverages. Highly recommended!

Less than impressed. Over priced food that was mediocre. Waitresses were miserable. Ours didn’t smile at us once and had an extreme attitude. When I got up to go to the bathroom, I was almost ran over by 3 waitresses who just barged right in front of me. As a waitress/worker of the establishment, your supposed to let the customer/guest walk first. This honestly blew my mind as it’s basic restaurant and human curtesy.

One of the best places to eat in Lewes. Dont miss this one. Great food, drinks and service. We are always happy, the whole family. Dont miss the mussels, the lamb shank. The burger! It doesnt matter what you order, the food is great and the service is top notch!

Tables are always available. Limited menu, but food is good. Service is reliable and friendly.

Generous cocktails. Very limited draft beer selection. We did not eat but did looked good. Felt like more an a locals place.

Food and ambiance are excellent, braised lamb shank and red pear drink are to die for

Cute little place tucker back down a side street. Nice bourbon selection, interesting entrees, make sure you make a reservation for dinner or you may miss out!

Local gem! Shared the Halibut and Scallops dinners. Everything was fresh and delicious, and service was great! Definitely will be returning again and again.

Very good ( the best flight & filet, Thursday night special.Went early for drinks before dinner, happy hour. Advertised as $2 off happy hour drinks. Only took $2.00 off total bar bill ?

Good menu options. We went on a night that filet migion was the special, nice cut with mashed potatoes and a glass of the house wine for $30. Other options looked good too. Prices were not out of line considering what costs are these days. Great servers.

This is one of our go to places for dinner in downtown Lewes, food and service are always very good! Definitely highly recommended.

Needed a place for dinner on my anniversary. I remembered seeing Kindle last time I was in Lewes so I gave it a shot. It was amazing! Also, ask for Corinne as a waitress, shes also great!

You must dine here. The ambiance, staff, and food are all amazing...this is definitely a place that Id frequent on a monthly basis

Kindle is a cute place but has average food fir the prices. I sat outside because my sister had her dog with her and we were excited to go to a place that allowed dogs while we ate, however, the service was not great. It took forever for our food to get out and even longer for our checks. We had a baby and a dog with us in the heat

Kindle has a great atmosphere, rustic but modern. The drinks are fantastic not only in flavor but very well made. The food is equally delicious and very generous portions. There were 4 of us and everything we ordered was amazing (charcuterie board with 4 cheeses, lamb, steak & frites, saffron scallops, pork chops & multiple drinks)!

We are always so satisfied with the food here as every bite of what we eat has been thourally thought out and the red pear Martins are outstanding. Our only critique would be that Kindle should provide better gluten free options, specifically regarding your phenomenal burger. There are plenty of products available to provide a bun for a similar experience to welcome the gluten free diner.

Stellar meal and service! Had the lobster spaghetti, my wife had the chicken. Both were perfect. Cocktail was well executed and service from Anna Corinne was exceptional. Definitely will return.

I have dinner here every time I am in Lewes. Always delicious! They do not take reservations, wish they did! Dining at the bar is a great option when they are busy.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal; in fact, we voted it the best during our week of culinary delights! We had haddock, lobster spaghetti, salmon, small filet mignon, herb chicken! All was exceptional! Dont miss this spot for an awesome evening! P.S. Save room for carrot cake... beyond delish!

Great restaurant, friendly service. We had the steak with asparagus and roasted tomatoes and the burger. Both were seasoned well and cooked as requested. The Steak was a little fatty on the side but other than that, the meal was very good. Would definitely go back. A must eat if you are in town.

Wednesday night off season and it was packed. Good sign. I love this place off season. I ordered a salad at the bar with Linda she is an awesome bartender. Dressing on the side though seemed to make the kitchen freak out and it took forever. My burger was absolutely perfect. Spoke with a local couple also seated at the bar. Try it you wont be disappointed

Small place with great food. I ordered the chicken club sandwich and it was flavorful and well prepared. Id go here again.

Would come down to Lewes again for this place alone. We ordered the cheese and salami plate, spiced roast chicken, grilled salmon, and chocolate dream. Every dish was decadent and well worth waiting the hour to come back since I didnt realize they dont open until 5pm on Sunday. The staff was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was cozy and makes for a perfect date place.

We had heard many great things about the food at Kindle and were eager to give it a try. After being seated by our hostess, our waitress overlooked us and we were left for some time, while she assisted tables around us without explanation.After patiently waiting for about 15 minutes and trying to get the attention of our waitress, we pointed this out to the hostess. She was very apologetic and waited on our table herself - providing friendly, knowledgeable service. This quick thinking on her part enabled us to enjoy the delicious food and generously poured drinks and salvage the birthday we chose to celebrate at Kindle.Will we go back? Not sure...

Atmosphere is quaint and friendly. Entrees are outstanding, as are the daily specials. Their mussels are the best I have ever had. Service is always very good, especially Lexie, who we usually have as our server. I highly recommend Kindle

Loved it! Ice cream was amazing! I had Midnight Carmel River, one scoop in a cup was plenty. Got to get there before 7 because its so popular the line goes out onto the street. Well be back this week for sure!

Fabulous local spot. Great food, great staff. We had the lamb shank and the scallops as main courses and mussels and salads as appetizers. Try the flight of Rose wines for $9 to start with and focus on the South African!

My wife and celebrated our wedding anniversary and the atmosphere and food was fantastic. Our server Michelle was outstanding and treated us and the tables around us very well. My wife’s scallops were some of the best she’s ever had and my lamb shank was fall off the bone tender. We loved the experience

Awesome dinner. Not as inexpensive as Yelp suggests with a $$ categorization. More like a $$$ restaurant, but it was well worth the expense. I had the Catch of the Day, which was Mahi Mahi on a bed of sweet corn and asparagus for $28. Three people had the Salmon and loved it, wife had Halibut and it was excellent, daughter had the half chicken and loved it, and son had the NY strip and loved it. All entrees except steak were under $30. All around, an excellent experience.

Wonderful creative restaurant in the heart of downtown Lewes. Love the appetizers and small plates, especially the cheese and charcuterie board. The regular menu has a wide range of entrees, and special deals during the week. Friendly and attentive staff, and a great and reasonably priced wine list. Our go-to restaurant in Lewes!

Warm, friendly and consistently go food. Has been a reliable go to place for us in Lewes for years. Check out the weekly specials. It does fill up, so get there early or be ready to enjoy a drink while you wait.

Went for burger night and it was amazing. I personally actually have a bit of intolerance for red meat but I was willing to risk it to try this place out. Had dinner for two including a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a soft drink for $18. Thats unheard of here! Even Five Guys costs more and honestly the burger isnt as good as what Kindle makes. It does cost more on other days of the week but if you want a quality meal for a very reasonable price check these guys out on Wednesdays. They have another special on Thursday which I believe is Filet Night, though I have not tried that.Based on the quality of food, helpfulness and friendly nature of the staff, and the overall atmosphere I would strongly recommend you try this place out even if its not one of the special nights. Definitely plan to return here and try more of the menu.

My wife and I have enjoyed several fantastic meals at Kindle. The service has always been excellent as well. On our two most recent visits Meghan took great care of and made us feel super welcome. We look forward to returning!

Really good wine list with a lot of nice offerings by the glass I went for the rose flight and I liked it quite a bit. The wife had a fresh caught red snapper soup with a tomato base and rice. I had a tempura battered soft shell blue crab sandwich. All of the food was excellent and the specials menu was completely enticing. Seriously considering sticking around to try dinner.

The food was excellent, as was the service. I saw that most of the bad reviews were older and we were right to trust our instincts. Love the local beers and the specials did not disappoint. Would have been 5 stars if the acoustics were better. I pray they put up curtains or something to help dampen the noise. Otherwise, fantastic.

Delicious food and excellent service. Their steaks are absolutely the BEST!!! No place else within 50 miles of Lewes, Delaware can compare. Two of the best waitresses ever ... Chelsie or Joanna. Ask for service from either. REVIEWED March 23, 2014.
