La Mesa Mexican Restaurant in Leavenworth County

We just used La Mesa to cater a meal for my husbands retirement party. We opted for the taco bar with beef and chicken tacos. So much food!! Tacos, beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, chips and salsa. Food was great. Delivered right on time. We would absolutely order from them again. We hope our reviews are helpful for learning about shopping, eating and playing in the area we live in.

$20 for 3 waters a kids sprite and queso is a little steep especially when the queso came out cold. We decided to just pay and leave instead of even trying the food and wasting more money.

Nothing remarkable, but very good. If you like Mexican, they deliver exactly what you expect on every dish.

Great food and drinks and the quest dip is fire! Clean except my menu had salsa on a couple pages. Fun and family friendly.

Used to go to La Mesa in Kansas City a long time ago before they closed down, and it was my favorite Mexican restaurant. Saw this one while I was in Leavenworth for my job and it was exactly the same. This is definitely worth an hour drive.

Great food and service. The only downfall is the hostess/owner tries to take on too much and the front of house backs up in an already small waiting area when there’s a lot of seating available. But the rest of the crew is great!

Good food and service is good too. I got the Fajita Jalisco and my wife got the #11 combination. Always great sized portions too. The only downside is the hostess/owner is not the best hostess. There is always a crowd in a very small waiting area with plenty of open tables available. She has a great staff but will leave the hostess area for long periods of time to micromanage. But the food is good and so are the rest of the crew!

It was ok. Nothing outstanding. Food was good & hot. Service was good. Just nothing that makes this place stand out from the others.

Went on a moderately busy Taco Tuesday and had fast friendly service. Ordered the Special Dinner, it was a taco, tostada, tamale, cheese stuffed poblano pepper and a enchilada. Everything was delicious. Portion size is great and the waiter kept the chips, salsa and drinks coming. Will definitely be back.

The food was great, the staff was accommodating and efficient and the prices were fantastic especially for the portion sizes. It had a really fun atmosphere too! Definitely recommend!

All started well with good chips plus salsa, took a bit to take order and hadnt gotten food after an hour. Had to leave as only had an hour to get lunch. They were slammed and short handed; but the tea, chips, and salsa were just fine.

Every time Im in Leavenworth I have to eat here. Everything I have had has been good so far. And the margaritas are amazing! Wont be disappointed!!!

My wife and I have are here several times since moving to Leavenworth. The chips and salsa are on point and the service has always been great!! Ive enjoyed the verde enchiladas, chimichanga, and a few of the combo specials. The margaritas are good and they have a variety of flavors depending on your preferences. Highly recommend.

Ordered carry out from here last night and they gave us burnt food and forgot to give us the tortillas for the fajitas and they refused to refund us. Definitely never making the mistake of going to this restaurant again. They did not even offer to remake the burnt food for us.

Ordered 3 bean burritos and the fajita with steak chicken and shrimp. The bean burritos had cheese that was burnt to the container and made the whole burrito taste disgusting. All the peppers and onion in the fajitas were burnt. This restaraunt used to be one of my favorites. They have gone downhill.

Surprises me how many amazing reviews there are of this place. It makes me wonder if we are even talking about the same establishment. Honestly, it was pretty bad. I would never want to go here again. Their chips and salsa are really good though. My mom likes this place, contrary to how me and my brother feel. So, perhaps it just depends on the person.

Awesome dining experience and delicious Mexican food! A local friend of mine recommended the fajitas and it was simply fantastic. Everything tasted really good with a friendly service, local music, and fun decoration. Overall a pleasant experience and I definitely recommend the place!

One of our favorite local spots for that amazing white cheese dip! The booths are kinda fun as well. Especially the cactus rabbit ears. 😂

This place totally surprised me and my mother. The food was extremely flavorful. We had Rancho fajitas and the vegetarian fajitas. Along with a alcarte chili relleno . I highly recommend!!

My mother and law and I was craving Mexican food and I was looking at reviews and different places then I end up choosing this restaurant. However, the meat needed a little bit more flavor(other seasoningfor the amount of meat they give they do not put a lot of rice and beans 🤦🏾‍♀️ overall it was ok, and my mother in law shrimp taco was “OK” according to her.P.S - I do want to try their alcoholic drinks 🤔

We were greeted with chips and salsa immediately. The chips were still warm and fresh, and the salsa tasted so yummy and home made. The menu has plenty of options and combinations. The burrito, enchilada, and tamale were amazing. Our waiter checked on us and refilled our drinks multiple times, but it was never too over bearing, the timing was just right. The meal wasn’t too pricey plus we used a coupon! The servers and cooks really care about what they do. The environment was lovely and the food tasted very authentic. It was worth the one hour drive!

My favorite Mexican restaurant. We live in KC North and it is worth the drive to Leavenworth to eat here! They have the best food and staff is always friendly 😊

We pulled in here after driving all day across Kansas. It was a nice break, the staff was very welcoming and service was good and fast the food was good. All around, a good solid stop for dinner.

La Mesa Mexican Restaurant is one of the best Mexican food choices in town. Their set up is amazing, the chairs, tables, music, decorations, everything was great. The menu has so many choices and different combinations. I went with a work group, and everyone was super satisfied, they checked on us regularly, any ticks we wanted to make to the menu they worked with us, we didnt have to wait long, everything was all around great.!

I love the food and the back to you its always pretty peaceful of while youre eating prices arent bad food is really good Im real happy in there all the time

Quiet & colorful. My grandson and I had lunch here. The staff was very friendly & prompt with service. Their tea was perfect & the food was delicious. I had the Enchiladas Suizas, they where spectacular chicken enchiladas. Definitely one of my top five Mexican restaurants.

I bet it is hard to find any authentic Mexican restaurant in Kansas with this quality food and amazing prices.It was a great successful experience for myself and my family. The service is very fast with bottomless complimentary chip and salsa. The portions as very good for both appetizers and entrees.

My family waited over a half hour for our food to arrive, and my wife and youngest son received their food ten minutes before me and my other son. Our drinks were never refilled and we ate our meal with empty beverages. I ordered a chimichanga for $10 and it looked like a frozen burrito from Walmart. The cashier asked how everything was and when I explained she simply said Im sorry and never offered to get the manager. This has not been the normal experience but the service is never consistent.

Being from Texas I know Tex-Mex. Its just hard to get right if youre not from the south. I I have had Tex-Mex all along the east and west coast. And its never done right. Needless to say I did not think this place would be any different. However much to my delight I think this place is a pretty good job of getting it right. So much so, that from my short 10-day stay in Kansas I went here twice. Definitely worth coming back a second time.

Dynamite! This is the place Ive been looking for. I had the fajita nachos and unlike so many places theyre done right here. The simple process for fajita nachos (according to meis a bed of chips, fajita meats and veggies and then house cheese dip. Out of all the Mexican joints Ive been too across the metro this is the only one that makes them this way. Its too bad theyre a 45 minute drive from the house otherwise Id be here a lot more often.
