Food was great, best Mexican rice ever! Just need to sell beer.
Great food and service!
If you’re not a regular don’t bother. People that came in 20 minutes after us got their food before they even bothered to get our drink order.
Great food, great service, great prices 💘
First thing... walked in and it smelled of soured mop water... this almost made my wife and I leave with our son... but were ltraveling today and this place was recommended by a friend... Service was okay but the food was flavorless and unremarkable... my sons pancakes were undercooked and doughy...his eggs which we ordered over medium has runny whites. Nope.. not wasting my money here again.
The food was good, filling and affordable.
Clean friendly great food that is reasonably priced. Absolutely worth stopping at!
Tasty food, had the tampiqueña everything was delicious, juicy stake, rice and beans, good price for family dining out and courteous service, will definitely stop by again, you must try their menu.
This was my first time here. The food was excellent and authentic, the service was wonderful and the prices and atmosphere were great. Def recommend and will def be back.
I had the chicken fried steak,it came with fries, salad and toast. Im not sure what kind of meat they used but it was tough and tasteless. I guess one shouldnt go to a Mexican restaurant and order American food.
I love going to La Taqueria Ribera when I drive down t for a visit in Woodsboro & Refugio.
Due to the fact theres not much open in Refugio Texas on Sunday La Ribera is our after church go to.. Luckily its good eating and the price is right. Far as I can remember weve never had a bad meal. Wether its barbacoa and eggs for breakfast or enchiladas for lunch its all good! Breakfast is served all day by the way.
Did not have high expectations for this place based on the outside appearance, but was pleasantly surprised. The inside was nice and clean, staff was great, the food was quick and delicious. Would definitely stop again given the opportunity.
Great food and super friendly service! Soft tacos were delicious, fries were hot, portions were large.
Good food, but always mess my order up. Especially to go orders.
Fair warning. BOTH flour and corn tortillas are gigantic! I highly recommend the carne guisada.
Great customer service and Delicious food . We will definitely be going back
Fast service and very friendly and clean environment with good food.
This place is the place to go if you are in the area. The food was so flavourful the place was packed and busy but the service staff were friendly and made you feel ar home. I wished I would have taken photos. I had caldo de pescado y camaron... They forgot the side of rice however the bowl was so full I did not even miss it.
The service was great. Had the Migas for breakfast and everything was wonderful other than potatoes could be seasoned a little more.
Meh. Whoever made the food in the photos for the menu doesnt work there anymore. Quesadilla beef tasted like cream of mushroom soup, shrimp a la diabla came in some kind of weird brown sauce that looked like the first guy didnt like it.Floor was gross, bathrooms were horrible... Keep driving, theres got to be something better!
This place is awesome their breakfast is good I would recommend it to anyone Im glad we found this place🤘😁
Good food, very generous portions at reasonable prices. Service was attentive and friendly.
Came for breakfast. Great service, friendly and attentive. Huge tacos! Barbacoa was fresh and tasty. Home made flour tortillas were good, but not great. Corn tortillas were thick and amazing, but tore apart easily. Still good.
Great food, great service. Fast and hot. We went there because of other reviews posted and werent disappointed.
I have had not been to this eatery in a very long time and I was very pleased to get my meal Hot! Would love it if your hours of opperation were a little more longer at night!
Amazing food and huge portions with awesome service!! Wish I lived closer than 1,000 miles so I could eat there more often!
Cannot emphasize this enough -- FRESH -- amazing food, decent portions, incredibly friendly service. I was going to rave about each dish I had, but I honestly dont know where to start. It was all great. Definitely a must-stop if youre in the area.
Food was very tasty great service will definitely go back when traveling thru.
First time here, service was super nice. Food was nice and hot. Taste was good rice was a bit dry but okay. Enchiladas were okay need more cheese inside my opinion. Meat was great had flavor and was tender. This place has so much to offer would definitely stop again to try something different.
The food was worth more than they charge. The service was good, and the food was delicious. If youre driving through, stop the portions are large, and you will have leftovers. The flour and corn tortillas are homemade!
The best carne guisada tacos. Im from South Texas and they are top notch stuff. I always stop by for one or two going to or coming back from the valley. They are not shy about filling up the taco up. Highly recommend.
I drive a lot from Corpus to Houston for work. And recently I found this place. Just so happened that I was hungry and I had to use the bathroom and I wanted a breakfast burrito so I pulled in here. Im only going to speak on the barbacoa because Ive never had anything else there a few times Ive been there. But your tongue will beat your nose off your face trying to get to one of these barbacoa tacos.
I went here twice. Once for dinner & once for breakfast. For dinner I had the shrimp platter/ special. The shrimp was actually ok as well as the tartar sauce but my fries were over cooked & the side salad was watery. Breakfast wasnt much better. I will say that the tacos are a pretty good size though. I had a egg & bean taco that was ok but the bacon & egg taco wasnt too my liking. The bacon wasnt fully cooked. I definitely wont be coming here again.
Pass through Refugio all the time. Decided to stop and get a late lunch. The staff was friendly. The place was clean. That’s a head start to most small town Tex-Mex. The chips and salsa was really good. Thick and crunchy chips. Salsa had a good tomato/cilantro flavor. Everything else was average Tex-Mex found at many other places. I ordered the cheese enchiladas. Not a big fan of gravy, wish more used enchilada sauce. Or chile sauce. I added a taco. The taco came with a salad. I cleaned my plate, so it wasn’t bad. Just not special.
Been driving since 0600 expecting to stop earlier in the morning for breakfast. Route I took had practically nothing and what it had I didnt want. Stopped here and am very happy with the meal and service I received. Coffee is very GOOD!
Great place for lunch specials r great service great they make sure u leave with a full stomach
Very disappointed with meal. Grilled fish with fries, salad and rice. The fish was not grilled but cooked in microwave with butter and placed on top of fries, salad and rice. The fish shouldve been served with rice. Salad and fries should have each been served separately. I dont know about any other dishes on the menu so no clue. Service was good.
If youre in the area this is a must stop. Food is exceptional, portions are large and priced fair. The staff are great and very attentive.
Food is good. The ladies working there are also sweet. I was at the restaurant after lunch time and restaurant was quite clean. However they r not following any guidelines to reduce the risk for covid. No masks, gloves or social distancing.
Great stop for breakfast, great food and service! Lunch menu is available for breakfast!
If your coming down to Refugio or up to it. Stop by the restaurant. Its REALLY, REALLY GOOD!!. I got migas, Oh my!! The tortillas where nice and crispy not soggy. The potatoes are nice and crispy the outside and soft in the inside. The beans are so good. My husband got Tacos of Carne Guisada. OHHH MEN!!! That was really good. The flour tortillas are home made and they are big to. My kids got pancakes and was another two . They have this soft butter and when you put it on your pancakes and take that bite you just 😍. Its really good. For sure we will be back. The tacos are really good and a good sizes.
Had a big group. called and ordered 20 breakfast tacos on the way home from a trip. They got 6 out of the 20 wrong. They did fix them when we brought them back in. Taste was very bland like they dont use seasoning. Huge tacos though and staff was friendly.
My son and I stopped here to get a quick breakfast taco to-go with a coffee, while waiting on a table I made a phone call, minutes later our order arrived, we started preparing our coffee and then I went to pay and left...about to get into our vehicle, a waitress came running saying I left my phone on the table!!! Honesty, Integrity, service and quality food, that’s what characterizes La Ribera here in Refugio, TX.
Was treated like a friend ,restaurant was clean food is great. As good as it is back home in lake Charles Louisiana. Thank you for your fast service so we were able to eat and beat the traffic in Houston.
This place is AMAZING!!! The BEST enchiladas I’ve ever had! We had 12 people and not one complaint. I would give ten stars if I could. Our waitress was amazing she did not miss a beat waiting on our family. Will be back when we travel again.
Wow! What a great find! Service was fast, portions were huge! One of our party custom ordered an item from the menu (I forget which oneand the waitress asked if it came out correctly as she placed it on the table. Hope to visit again.
Took a chance on this unassuming little restaurant. Good HOT food. I had the chicken enchiladas. Chicken was flavorful. Like a Guisado. Perfect amount of enchilada sauce. Rice didn’t have veggies in it like so many other places. I myself like it without the extras. Beans were delicious. Food was still HOT when I was more than half way through my lunch. The service was excellent to top it off. Great midway stop if your between McAllen and Houston. We’ll be back for sure!!
We have traveled to all parts of Texas for work and always try the local Mexican restaurants, so we can definitively say this place has the best enchiladas you can buy. Their flautas are also incredible. The service, even when busy, is friendly and prompt. Definitely worth your money.
My husband and I found this diamond in the ruff. The food was authentic and so good we ordered extra meals to take back to Houston so we could have lunch for work the next day! We has the beef fajitas enchiladas, beef fajitas burritos, shrimp enchiladas and hamburger steak!!!! The service was warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back!
