Good food, very generous portions, a lovely cafe with lovely staff. Great for a meal or coffee and cake! A welcoming quirky interior - well also the exterior! Loved the Chilli Penguin log burner.
Oh my goodness - what a place! our friend took us today for afternoon tea as she enquired about gluten free- well I have never ever had such a wonderful tea -loads of choice put on the stand and sandwiches absolutely wonderful just cant praise it enough and the lady serving us was really really lovely and kind -just in shock that there is such a wonderful place nearby -we will definitely come again cant wait now and I wont have to make an excuse to come back 😁❤💜also love the relaxing atmosphere and decorations thank you so much Im so excited you do Gluten free as I cant go out much because no-one much does it ! It was a present so dont know how much!
Stunning breakfast and amazing staff... really cozy and nice deco loved it here ..
Nice food lovely coffee, quirky little coffee shop.
Such a beautiful cafe with shop, great service and yummy food
Great food. Doorstopper sandwiches and beautiful deco inside or if sitting outside on a beautiful sunny day. Ladies loo is lush too ☺
Visited on Saturday 23rd July 2022 and had an absolutely lovely lunch. The club sandwich, fries and coleslaw was so tasty and I even had to take half the sandwich home for lunch the next day as the portions were so big! Lovely friendly, helpful staff who, even though it was very busy, always had a smile for the customers. Will definitely visit again very soon!
I “won” an afternoon tea for one person (take away)in a raffle(kindly donated by MaddocksI love my food but this was huge! My husband and I shared, it was delicious!
A good place to meet ... I had a business meeting, WiFi connection was, needed to ask for the password. Food was lovely.
My advice is park at the bottom of Tumble hill and walk up. (They do have a car parkYou are going to want to burn some calories before you enter the shop. Who can resist those cakes!Cant wait til youre fully open again, for a sit down and natter.
Been once excellent, but long wait for 2nd order.want to go back but 3 times been closed on different days.is there an opening and closing times please. All different days.
Coffee is coaltown coffee shop I knew it was going to be fantastic. It didnt disappoint. I also had a lemon and blueberry cake and it was a taste sensation. We sat outside in the lavender garden and it was an amazing hour break to relax and unwind.
Beautiful ploughmans lunch to share. Not the cheapest but very good quality. Friendly service and not busy Sunday lunchtime.
Excellent food, but I found it cold there, but it hasnt turned me off, will call again
Pretty place but not sure with the food I had the veggie breakfast with egg and avocado. There was hardly any avocado on my bread. Also the bread was covered in butter, not much taste for the price. I think they really need to improve the food.
What a place. Great food, lovely decor, friendly staff and all local produce.Another visit and same experience - such a family feel to he place 👌
Would have been 5 stars because we have been here so much. Wont be returning. Kept waiting for over an hour for the food to arrive. Once I complained about the quality of the food , the owner became hostile and defensive then belittled my partner for eating the food. I however didnt eat my cheap castle Howell tikka that was completely different from two days previously, if I wanted tikka I would have ordered it. But I didnt. Shame. Because the place is great but her attitude was out of order.
Well what a disappointment , pricey £18 per person and I ordered 7 for my special birthday, £6 delivery and then £1 per tray if I took them back in good condition, the sandwiches were ok, the sausage rolls were tasteless the pork pie was not what you would described as a pork pie , the savoury rissoles were delightful, the cakes were just ok, but I think the chocolate still in the wrapper was a no no, I am sorry to write this negative review but will not be ordering from here again.
Such a welcoming atmosphere, food was delicious. And as you can see genorous helpings.
What a fab little place to have a coffee/ bite to eat, would highly recommend, friendly polite staff, had a club sandwich while there, superb! Parking around back, cool looking layout inside, plenty of space.
Very helpful and friendly staff . The afternoon tea we had was amazing the food was fresh and plenty of it. Will definetly visit there again soon.
What a lovely quirky restaurant and shop, excellent breakfast, really good coffee, and the biggest custard slice Ive ever seen would definitely recommend.
Bynea cycle club came here for a coffee stop on there club ride what a find. great food lush coffee fantastic service thank you
Absolutely beautiful, tasty food! Fab friendly staff! Stunningly decorated Cafe!
We went for breakfast and booked on the day. When we arrived, there were plenty of tables free. The setting is welcoming and cosy. The food was great with large portions. If it wasnt for my toddler I would have loved to spend more time. They also sell kids soft toys, lovely cookies and soaps. The lady at the till even helped take my bag to the car seeing me struggle with a toddler and another kid. Thank you for making us feel welcome. I will like to visit again possibly without the children.
A lovely local cafe with a fantastic range of fresh cakes and quality food. We have just had a very good sit down lunch and would highly recommend. Lovely service and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Wonderful afternoon for a birthday party, so much food and cakes. Lovely gesture with take away boxes. Loved the decor and ambience. Be lovely if we could order prosecco by the bottle, would have spent more with you... Thank you , lovely day
My wife and I visited here last week as it was recommended by friends. I enjoyed the coffee and we both enjoyed the food. Nice surroundings and pleasant staff. The presentation was excellent. However I did feel it was slightly over priced.
Lovely little place for a pop in coffee, staff are really friendly, food was delicious, nice quirky friendly atmosphere. The reason for the 4 stars is the WC, there is one wc and quite small, wheel chair users will have a problem as the turning circle for a wheelchair is non existent. There is a car park to the rear that fills up really quickly, please ring before calling, we called on a off chance on a Sunday only to find it full to the brim, a large baby shower had been booked and practically occupied the whole building, I would definitely recommend to my family and friends.
No GF options when told there would be. Drinks came after my mums food. Initially got someone elses order. Had to wait at least 15 mins for this to be rectified. Drinks still came after food after all the waiting. Bubble and squeak was essentially a bowl of mashed up veg. Poached egg - the white was a runny as the yolk my mum could not finish it. Disappointing and not worth 50p let alone 9.50p.
Visited today for first time with friends. Lovely atmosphere. Food and drinks excellent quality. Couple of tiny hiccups but you can always judge somewhere by how these are dealt with. The staff sorted things quickly and with a smile. So five stars well deserved. Will be back soon. Thank you
What a treemendous place for grub! My turkey n cranberry sandwich was a meal in itself, so tasty and filling. Staff so friendly and helpful, esp. Sarah.
Dropped in for a coffee this morning for the first time and it was the first of what I hope will be many visits. Lovely welcome and service, delicious coffee and even the dog was offered a treat and a bowl of water. Lovely things to buy as well.
Everyone in the world should try this place, it fabulous.(But not all at once)The breakfast i had came in a great big cast iron pan and there was bubble and squeak with the breakfast, sausage and everything else you would imagine. The staff are great and nothing is too troubling for them.A must visit and will definitely be going back when next down that way.Thank you very much.
Always a lovely welcome. Great choice of delicious food in a beautiful little nook that is always beautifully decorated. Great place to pick up some little home and personal gifts.
Very good coffee and delicious hot chocolate, spoil yourself and have a cake too
I arranged a surprise 80th Birthday afternoon tea for a friend - for 7 of us living in Llanelli, llannon, Llansamlet and from Swansea. From the minute everybodyarrived we were made to feel so welcome! The afternoon tea was delicious and plentiful and we genuinely couldnt recommend Maddocks and their staff highly enough. Thankyou for making a special day even more special x
Lovely afternoon tea, good value and nice fresh cakes and sandwhiches with plenty of tea. Victoria sponge was really light and fluffy and accommodating with a dairy free option on a separate board.
What a great discovery on my door step. Excellent welcome, great service and tea and coffee of the finest quality. The cakes are not bad also. It will be a regular stop in the future.
Awesome breakfast, lovely atmosphere highly recommend
Friendly atmosphere. Coaltown coffee delicious. The use of balsamic vinegar and a garnish of rocket and other leaves not needed for the full English that was ordered and there was definitely no need for the balsamic squiggly on the plate for the toast. Too much
Lovely afternoon takeout tea.... Cheers well worth a call or visit....
Previously visited and had a good experience with lovely food but today was disappointing to say the least. I tried to use a £30 voucher that had been bought by a friend for my birthday last week (which Maddocks had posted out to meand the difficulty was shocking. Initially wanted me to drive there to take the voucher despite explaining about unnecessary travelling in lockdown. I offered to screenshot the voucher and email it again explaining they had posted it out to me a week ago. I was willing to pay the £10 difference during the call as they were charging £40 for the picnic box. This still wasn’t bough, they insisted on me paying £40 upfront giving them £70 upfront for a box of sandwiches, a bit of quiche and a few cakes? The attitude is that nobody is honest enough to be trusted to collect despite the fact they’ve already been paid. Such poor service today which is disappointing as I have previously recommended them!
Great food and lovely atmosphere. A treat for my daughter and we cant wait to go again. Homemade food with lovely finishing touches. When you have finished you can browse in the shop and even buy some treats to take home. Maddocks is now a family favourite.
Lovely brunch/lunch accompanied by friendly service. Great ambience in a cozy setting surrounded by tasteful festive decorations (available to purchase so an added bonus). Will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this little gem 👌
A really lovely, quirky, family run coffee shop/cafe/village store. Every time I have visited the staff have been lovely, efficient service and the food and coffee is always delicious. The cream tea is fab! Its been lovely seeing this little place grow from strength to strength and be such a success.
Great little coffee shop with a good selection of home-made cakes and sandwiches to accompany your coffee. Staff are very friendly and polite, I recommend you should definitely visit. Only small down side, £5 min spend for card payments.
Great little shop. The work done on this shop is amazing. From a small corner shop to selling great coffee and now a quirky cafe at the back serving amazing hand made sandwiches and cakes. We stopped on the way back from Llanelli just before their closing time and had Cappuccino and a yummy Easter egg cheese cake. It was so good I dont regret the calories. The staff are very friendly. Definitely worth visiting.
The new coffee shop at Maddocks is absolutely beautiful! Stunning surroundings, great staff and a great breakfast menu. We will definitely be back for lunch (and the best brownies ever!)
This shop is an absolute must visit. The staff are friendly and will always do their best to help. There is a wide variety of groceries and newspapers etc. The lovely home cooked food is second to none. I must not forget Cathy’s home made cakes, they are gorgeous. You can top all this off with a specialty coffee. Well done girls!!
