Edited to add: Just because it is the law doesnt mean either establishment should RUDELY tell us to leave.We walked in with our 8 month old son and the lady rudely told us that no one under 21 is allowed. Its a shame a town that welcomes familys doesnt have any family restaurants. Will not be coming back.

We escaped to New Harmony to enjoy a relaxed birthday weekend. We make the three-hour drive every couple of years to enjoy the calm, peace, and serenity that defines New Harmony.After reading reviews we decided to give MaryScotts a try on our first night. We were welcomed and seated by Scott and immediately were taken in by the friendliness and atmosphere.The menu presented was NOT the steak, burger and chicken wing selection you might expect in a small river town in rural southern Indiana. The offerings were as tantelizing as what you might expect in a trendy bistro along Rush Street in Chicago. Checks in all the boxes so far. Would the food live up to the billing?The goat cheese appetizer and Caesar Salad left no room for improvement and only heigtened the anticipaiton for the arrival of the entrees. We went with the suggested wine pairings for our entrees and they were delightful and made even more enjoyable at $6/glass.My wife had the Shrimp and Grits which was outstanding. I had the Garlic Ginger Chili Shrimp. All I can say is that Scotts wife Mary is a magician in the kithen.We topped the evening splitting a chocolate creme brulee which only added to the experience.We were in town for two nights. Guess where we ate the second night?Hats off to a couple living their dream and making people happy with REALLY good food and dining experiences in the process. This gives us a reason to make our visits to this haven more frequent.I highly recommend that if you find yourself in New Harmony, that you do not miss an opportunity to experience MaryScotts.

This is undoubtedly the BEST restaurant I have had the pleasure of dining in. The owner Scott is very personable and takes great pride to ensure his guests are happy and welk cared for. Please do yourself and your loved ones a favor and take them on the culinary adventure of a lifetime!

Stopped to check it out, no one dining, bartender seemed bothered, and not helpful. We did not feel welcome. This post was not made the day of our visit...and the bartender was rude placing a cup of "hot water" in front of me, after I asked if he could make an espresso martini.

It was the only place open Sunday and boy was that a blessing. The cocktails were extraordinary and the bourbon street pasta and chili garlic shrimp were divine. Do yourself a favor and pop by.

MaryScottsKitchen was a delightful find in New Harmony Indiana. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable on the food served. The Chef is obviously very skilled in her abilities to prepare and serve from her menu. The scampi and bourbon pasta with andoulli sausage hit the spot. The creme Brule desert finished the meal. We highly encourage you try this restaurant.

We visited the area over our 20th wedding anniversary. After a really disappointing meal/experience on Thursday at a local winery, we "almost" didnt come to New Harmony and drove 3 hours back home north. Sure glad we persevered! New Harmony itself was wonderful, just the balm we needed, and our dinner and service at MaryScotts Kitchen was friendly, delicious, inspired and not pretentious--thanks for that!!! We felt immediately at home and welcomed, even when we asked to move our reservations up 2 hours because wed been marching around in the heat all over the lovely little town and felt a bit wilty by the late afternoon. We started with the goat cheese and pork belly appetizers and I cannot say which was the best. Get them both! Delectable! Our service was impeccable--knowledgeable but not stuffy, genuinely friendly and interested, not phoney. My husband had the sirloin off the menu and I had the scallop special and we were both truly satisfied-cooked to perfection. Scott has a great sense of humor and he and Mary came round to chat and check in and we were delighted to connect with them. My guess is there isnt a bad meal here, and if youre looking for a delicious, authentic experience in a chef owned restaurant, MaryScotts is the place to be. Many thanks for everything!

The food was overall very good (my pork chop was a very good cut of meat and was done perfectly but also way over seasoned and too saltybut unfortunately the rudeness and unappreciative behavior of the cook and waiter really ruined the entire experience for our group. For the prices they charge in a town like New Harmony - I would expect to be treated much better. I would not go back.

Had one of the best meals Ive had in a long time! Service was good but I cant say enough about the scallops! Tender and cooked perfectly. Everyone should go try MaryScotts!

Hands down best steak Ive ever had. Meatballs were unbelievable. Service was great, The owner Scott was our waiter and was on top of everything, also a great bartender. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to everyone.

We had shrimp and grits and a seafood medley. Both meals were exceptional. Service was great. We will go back.

Best restaurant in town! Friends and I were welcomed on a Friday night and were seated with no wait. Scott was very friendly + attentive. Food was made fast - especially for our larger group and it all being made to order. Bruschetta shrimp pasta was A++! And when one plate was a little late (max. 5 minutes behindScott treated us to a complementary dessert. Thank you Mary and Scott for the wonderful evening in your idyllic town!

Food and drinks were amazing! Everything was a bit on the pricey side, but that is to be expected in a small town. We loved it and we will be back again!

We enjoyed the personality of the owner, who served us personally, and the food was delicious. Cocktails were good and the bar listened to our suggestions about modifying our drinks to our tastes. Nice atmosphere in a charming small town.

A charming little restaurant and bar. All of the food is prepared as you order. The blackened salmon and sauteed vegetables were outstanding. The chicken alfredo was creamy with the wonderful flavors of all the ingredients. I cant wait to go back and try the grilled ribeye or pork chop.

Fresh tasting ingredients, decent prices. Service was so-so, but not bad. The shrimp and grits and the local burger were good. Small menu, which could be ideal for an easy dining experience!

The food was fine, but the owner, who was also our server, was snarky and rude. He seemed irritated with any questions we had. He gave dirty looks when responding. We wont be back.

We had just drove down from in Annapolis not really knowing a lot about New Harmony. We didnt know where to eat.... We hot the Jackpot... Scott the owner was so helpful explaining the good. And WOW was it great. I had the thick pork chop which was perfectly cook to perfection. My wife decided to have the shrimp and grits. Again fixed to perfection. The only sad part was we were so full and didnt have room for the dessert.

From the other reviews, I was really looking forward to this place for dinner. Pretty disappointing. Perhaps the special wouldve been better.I wanted a salad, but they have no salad on the evening menu, except as a side salad with an entree for an extra $4. The waiter offered rather reluctantly to "see if she has enough prepped to make you a large salad; there will be a $2 upcharge" from the lunch salad price. He explained that this is because they make everything fresh to order. How does that explain anything? Is having food already prepped fresh to order? How hard is it to throw a couple handfuls of greens on a plate, even if you wash them first? They had 2 other diners there the whole time we were there, so its not like they were swamped with special requests.My husband ordered Chicken Alfredo, which was ok but not spectacular, accompanied with a small slice of toast, and a side salad, which I found quite nice. The menu lists a $7 upcharge to share an entree, so I was careful to not sneak a bite of that. His single meal came to $30+, with only iced tea.Its in an old store building with sparse ambiance--some unframed and uninspired local paintings hung too high on the walls. Cloth table covers and napkins dont make a fancy dining establishment. It isnt; but they charge like it is.Sorry. Not a fan.

Today was my girlfriend and Is anniversary and we decided to give marry Scotts a try and we ordered a bruschetta it was amazing and super fresh then I had a ribeye and it was the best steak I had ever eaten and my girlfriend had a chicken alfredo which was super amazing too everything was fresh and delicious best place to eat

A truly incredible, fresh, decadent dining experience! Best steak in the tri-state! The owners are the most welcoming folk who truly care about the customers dining experience.

My husband and I stopped in tonight after seeing the reviews. We were not disappointed. The Ribeye steak was THE BEST I’ve ever had and my husband’s Swordfish tasted delicious! The Bourbon Pecan Cake and Key Lime Pie were a perfect ending the meal. If you come to New Harmony, Indiana — be sure to make this one of your stops!

Well 1st of all I think their trying to make their 1st million n a month the prices are ridiculously high we had 12 people non of the food came out together they add 18% gratuity to your bill But this waitress said she wouldnt do that But then wasnt happy with the 15% tip that my mom n I left her and a domestic beer was 3.75 a beer each!! The service wasnt that good and for the price you pay...Food Not worth it either We will Never Go Back! Very disappointing!!

Made to order. Excellent service. We just stopped in for drinks and a snack, which they dont have on the menu. But they made us fresh chips and salsa. Large variety of beer and knowledgeable staff. Menu looked amazing...wish wed discovered sooner.

A little pricey & the menu is a bit limited, but the staff is very friendly, the service is good, and the food is GREAT!

Enjoyed a leisurely lunch today at MaryScott’s Kitchen with a Caesar Salad and Grilled Chicken Sandwich topped with sautéed red onions and honey Dijon mustard. Delicious!

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch at MaryScotts yesterday. My wife had the Shrimp-n-Grits and I had the ribeye sandwich. Both were very good. The owner was very helpful in describing the food and drink options, as well as tips for things to visit around town.

The place is gorgeous, small and quiet. Their drink menu is plentiful, and the food menu is all fresh and good. Food came to is very fast and the staff is very polite. Love the look of the place and the style. I will come back here more.

I want to like MaryScotts since my wife had a good lunch here before. We came on St. Pats day and were disappointed. First the menu on the web site described the dishes, but the menu handout did not. Then the food was served on paper trays. They said it was to make their life easier. Well it wasnt much fun digging beef stew off the paper liner.Which is a shame because the stew was good, although I didnt see any carrots and celery mentioned on the menu. Another dish we had was corned beef and cabbage but... how do you cut a thick slice of meat on a paper tray and where was the cabbage?Note: they apparently do have plates. We might try them again if we get over this way.Response to owner - paper trays are fine for finger food like fishnchips in a casual bar type setting - but neither stew nor a slab of corned beef can be enjoyed out of a paper tray. If we as customers have to educate service staff in how to serve food, were consulting, not dining.

Wonderful special Valentines dinner with different options. All of the food was delicious not one thing we didnt like. Very friendly staff who took care of us and took time to answer our questions.

The service was friendly, but slow. The shrimp poor boy sandwiches were disgustingly salty. It seems like a nice atmosphere generally. The food quality needs attention.

The Food here is Phenomenal! My Steak was The Best I have had in Years. Everything was Fresh, from Scratch and made to order. Highly, Highly Recommend this establisment.

The food (we had salads, shrimp & grits, and the pork chop dinnerswas superb. The only pork chop Ive ever eaten that was better than the one here was a magical one I cooked for myself over the winter and will likely never reproduce. The grits were satiny, filled with cheese, butter, and love. I look forward to another meal here when we return to New Harmony.

Best shrimp and grits I have ever had. Good selection of craft beer and wines. Good steaks, friendly quaint atmosphere. A gem. Call ahead because of limited seating.

Shrimp and grits were good but paid 74.00 for shrimp grits, salad cost was extra and iced tea. To us that is CRAZY.

My wife and I as well as 6 of our close friends visited New Harmony for the first time the first weekend in June 2018 and decided to try Mary Scotts Kitchen. Let me just say, we were all very pleasantly surprised!! The food was truly outstanding in taste and freshness. I had the Cajun Pasta and it was delicious!! The sauce used was outstanding!! Everyone in our party was very happy with their dinner that evening! I even attempted to go back on Sunday to get Pasta to go for later, but they werent open on Sunday. I can highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Great food, decent prices, good menu, and friendly staff. The shrimp and grits are excellent, and everything is delicious. Recently added a bar, so great for hanging out if youre looking for some drinks. Definitely recommended, and worth coming back to try other stuff from the menu.

As a New Harmony native. I am absolutely happy to see this place settled in. I eat there very often and have never had a bad experience. The food is fresh and never frozen, the service is great, and the dessert is the perfect end to an extraordinary meal.

My family and I came to New Harmony from Evansville for a day trip since my sister was in town visiting. She and I grew up visiting NH. We decided to give Mary Scott’s a try, and boy, we’re glad we did!Scott, one of the owners, greeted us, waited on us, and gave us lots of information about the menu. Everything is fresh and made to order, and it was delicious. Almost anything on the menu can be made in smaller portions for your little ones, and my daughter loved her cheeseburger. I had the chicken salad wrap and Caesar salad.We’ll definitely be back... next time for dinner!

Great food, cozy atmosphere, definitely not fast food, but definitely worth the wait.

Food was good, service was very friendly. This was my first time dinning here, but my family and I will be back.I would recommend not being in a rush since everything is made fresh it can take a bit to get your meal. I recommend the grits.

Get there early! We went at 1pm and they were out of soup of the day, out of bacon, out of unsweetened tea, and apparently nearly out of ranch dressing for the salad.. the dressing tasted like water (pretty sure it had been severly watered down I wanted soup and blt sandwich but settled on salad since they were out of what I wanted. We waited 30 minutes to get waited on and had to ask for our check long after we finished eating. It was a very busy day or I would have given less than 3 stars.

The best freshly prepared meals in New Harmony. Everything is fresh, nothing is frozen. No cold cut sandwiches or common deep fried bar food. They take pride in everything they serve.
