If I would have known 4 days ago the service and quality, cost and lack of communication I would have gone somewhere else for my dogs care. My dog has been there for 4 days. An hour drive for us, we drove due to liver and kidney trouble and my dog not eating for days and our regular vet recommended them. First thing they say to you is it’s a 6-8 hour wait. So an emergency vet prioritizes by vitals not blood work or labs so we waited for a good 6 hours to be seen then admitted. I didn’t get updates or hear anything the first 2 days even though I would call there was always a critical or more urgent issue with other animals and was told the vet would call back. Day 3 finally get a call they don’t know after tests and all kinds of things done. I have visited him and it’s a pain because they make you wait to see him. I called at 8 am on day 4 vet says let’s wait on blood work which will be done at noon then she will call back. It’s 2 pm no call back, I called and the vet is busy and can’t take my call. My concern is this is a for profit place as my dog has improved and this seems to be a money grab to keep him in the hospital another night. I would go elsewhere

They have taken very good care of our Scottish fold cat. We were so worried we were going to lose her. They let you visit and call whenever. That’s very comforting.

Very personable. From my initial phone call where I spoke with Jodi, to the vet techs who assessed my dog. I felt like they valued the fact that my dog is a member of my family and truly took merit of my concerns.

We came in from out of town traveling for vacation. Our diabetic dog was having some difficulties and Dr. Anderson and team listened to us about our pups issues. They reviewed all recent records from our local MedVet and quickly came up with an action plan to allow us to get on our way but keep our pup healthy. We left still uncertain if the outpatient treatment would be enough to allow us to continue on our journey. And I am SO happy to say it did!! Thank you!

I moved from Columbus (the Home Officeto Pittsburgh and I am glad that MedVet has a location here. I am continuing oncology care for my cat with MedVet. Happy to see this location expanding and improving. My first experience is excellent and on par for MedVet oncology. I can definitely recommend them.

I want to send a huge thank you to the Drs and staff here. They were not only the ONLY VET to help with my fur baby Jasper...but they were very friendly, and kept me updated with everything that was going on! Even though my baby didnt make it out I am very grateful for them even wanting to take the time and take care of him. When I called and told them I was 2 hours away they said no problem. I was so relieved after hearing those words because everyone around where I live said NO! I know the Drs did everything they could and then for them to tell me my baby had passed away...I could see the hurt in their eyes! They even made a plaque with Jaspers pawprint and gave me a vile of his fur! Thank you all so very much. My family and I appreciate everything you did for Jasper.

We took our dog to MedVet after she was attacked by another dog. The medical staff was compassionate, however, the state in which they returned our dog was dismal. She had to be kept over night for a minor surgery to stitch her wounds and have drains placed. She was returned covered in her own feces, increasing her risk of infection in these wounds that were just closed. The staff were supposed to call us when she was done so that we could pick her up right away and never did. They also lost her leash that we brought her in with. All for a small fee of $1000.

Do NOT take your pet here. My friend brought a kitten in for treatment and the bill was 900 which she was offering to pay next day once her money came in and they refused to treat the cat or give it back until payment was made. Theyd rather your animal die than wait one day to be paid. Heartless supposed animal caregivers.Edit: Funny how management replied to me but ignored the message of my friend who left a review of her experience. Both her and her partner called repeatedly which amounted to nothing though they did get the kitten back to take to a reputable vet. These people say the care in words not with their actions.

We brought my kitten in who was dehydrated and vomiting. Very long story short, they didn’t properly communicate treatment and costs and continued to run tests and treatment without consent. They went as far as demanding I pick him up in the middle of the night or they would put him down (I have small children and could not get him at that time). They were very judgmental about my personal life and financial circumstances. For two days, they quoted us one price and when we went to pay, they gave us a much higher price. They told us they didn’t do payment plans and when I went to take my kitty to another vet, they suddenly said they could work out a payment plan. The absolute only reason I have given two stars and the only shining light at this place are the vet techs. They openly communicated with me and were very kind and understanding. They didn’t make me feel like my cat was a paycheck. They made me comfortable with the care my kitten was receiving, despite the vets and management making me feel as though money was more important than his life. If you ever have to go here, take solace in the fact that the vet techs will love your babies while management is giving you the runaround about money.

Nothing is clear. The potential prices, the "care" they are given or procedures performed. They give you long complicated "estimates" that are really just contracts. Essentially, they are a business first. Their employees utilize scare tactics and belittling comments to dehumanize and guilt-trip. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. I can promise youll be the next one leaving a poor review in a desperate attempt at peace after a long, exhausting and traumatizing experience.

Was told by another vet to get my dog to be seen as soon as possible for a potentially dangerous issue. This hospital was the closest one open at the time. Called and told them we were coming in and was very rudely told that our animal did not meet the “emergency” criteria and would face a 10-12+ hour wait time. All this after patiently waiting on the phone during a “brief” hold that lasted appx 10 minutes…..

We had our pup seen in the emergency vet late Friday evening. We called 14 other emergency vets and nobody had room for our boy. We were panicking and scared. I kept going down the google list to find anyone at this point and came across Medvet. I’m sooo glad I did! We drove an hour to get here and they immediately took every step to make sure he was ok! I will forever recommend them! The whole experience was great, the hospital, service, staff, and especially his vet! I honestly can’t thank them enough! They will now be my go-to place! It was a huge relief hearing that they will NEVER refuse to see a pet! I’m beyond grateful for the team there and definitely recommend them!

Our Greyhound all of a sudden could not walk or stand,he was so distressed and so were we. He was14 1/2. We didnt know where to go our regular vet was not open. We arrived at 10 pm the staff was fantastic and treated us very well also our dog. We decided that euthanasia was what we had to do. We sent him on to the bridge with dignity and much love. Our hearts were broken but it was what we needed to do.I cant say enough good on how we all were treated thankyou all so much

My dog had a tumor that needed to be removed and my regular vet referred me to MedVet for the surgery. Everyone there, from the people at the front desk to the surgeon, was absolutely wonderful throughout the process! They all took such wonderful care of my girl. She had to spend the night and they sent me texts and pictures so I knew she was doing ok, which I thought was so nice. You can tell they all really love animals and want to do the best for them. Hopefully you never need their services but if you do, I highly recommend MedVet.

I wont go into detail about how awful this place was to my dog, but please take your pet anywhere else. They are supposed to be for emergencies, but they will shame you into unnecessary shots and treatments before they even begin to address the emergency. There are no follow-up phone calls about your extremely sick pet. They will give you only enough medication for a week and instruct you to bring them back so they can charge you hundreds of dollars more.Understand that this is not only true of their Pittsburgh office. This place is only looking to fill quotas. Good veterinarians dont work for these kinds of places, so you get vets that are sub-par.

Everywhere is understaffed these crazy days, but thats not the excuse to not treat animals seriously. We waited 10 hours to see the Vet with all the reports printed from previous vet, the result was No diagnosis with $700 bill. We brought our old dog to ER here because he didnt eat anything including prescription diet, also vomiting and diarrhea for two weeks, and they just told us to feed our dog with prescription diet to fix it?? I was very confused, asked if they were going to prescribe something different, they said they didnt know our dog was on prescription diet already and they couldnt find the report we brought to them. I was shocked, also they told us they were too busy to give us prescription at that moment, asked us to call them again tomorrow to get it. We called, emailed, asked another vet to contact them for records for TWO weeks now...we still havent received the prescription. We were referred to VCA by our vet now, they said they also couldnt reach and pull records from MedVet Pittsburgh too for next step and they will keep trying. We understand its difficult to diagnose the actual cause, we simply hope that you can pay more attention on each patient, offer more suggestions and continuous diagnosisEDIT: Above was my review for ER. I am giving a few stars back to specialty care staffs in this facility.

I would highly recommend the oncology department at Medvet. Our dog had an oral melanoma removed by my usual vet. After he recommended that we look into the melanoma vaccine, most of the oncologists I called had at least a month wait. Medvet was able to see our dog within a week. We have to drive several hours to get there, but it’s well worth the trip. I really appreciate, given the drive, that they don’t leave us sitting in the waiting room forever and that the appointments are quick. At the same time, they make sure to explain everything. They are also the cheapest I could find in the area in terms of the cost of the vaccine. It’s really scary to have a beloved pet get a cancer diagnosis. They’ve been nothing but caring and compassionate.

I would recommend MedVet to anyone! We had to rush our baby, Chili Bear, to their practice yesterday for what we found out was Lyme Disease. They were compassionate, quick, and thorough. They let us know every step they were going to take and the prices of all the tests they wanted to preform. There were no surprises, they kept us very well informed. They knew our boy was scared and sick and treated him with the utmost respect and care. I am beyond happy with the care he received. Thank you MedVet for saving his life!!

This place is horrible. Horrible! If you want your pet to survive don’t take them here. They killed my dog, my best friend, and didn’t even have decency or compassion to explain to me other options. They just euthanized him and didn’t even tell me until after the fact. I am devastated to say the least.I can’t stand this place or the useless “director” and the soulless “vets” that work there. All they care about is the money, and I would of paid whatever for my dog to save his life. It’s horrible here. Horrible. Please go to PVSCC down the road if you love your pet.

Took our dog in who was bit by another dog and had a major infection. The Dr told us the best thing would be to have drain tubes put in her neck for infection to drain but would cost $1500. Just to clean wound and meds would be $900. We chose the cheapest cause thats what we could afford. Dr went ahead and did the most expensive procedure cause thats what was best for our dog. To our surprise they still only charges us the $900. We are very thankful and appreciative to her and rest of staff.

My family unfortunately had to put our little one to rest after battling with cancer for sometime. I wanted to thank the staff for the amazing treatment we received during a tough time. I have never left a review before but there is a young man named Will Smith.. Ill never forget it.. He was so kind and patient with my mom and the rest of the family. Went over our options and made us feel comfortable while there. I also seen the way he handled a hostile crowd and I give him and the rest of your staff credit. I could not work in that field! Thank you all and to Will Smith for everything you did for us!

Do not recommend. my friends dog had an amputation and wasn’t prescribed antibiotics and now he has a fever and bad infection. it wasn’t from him licking his wound he never did. he has been with someone since the day of surgery. even to his owners work to be monitored daily. why no antibiotics for a 10 year old dog with an amputation surgery???!!!!!👎🏼.since I can’t see how I can reply to the business response. I am not looking to discuss the patients care. I am letting people know that the dog was not prescribed medication that could have prevented the infection he has. pretty neglectful if you are me.

Every staff member we spoke to was professional and friendly, and they did so great with my chi who is definitely a handful. They were so kind and treated us and my dog with respect and care. I appreciate their honesty/transparency when it comes to the bill, rare to find an emergency vet that doesn’t want to squeeze every dollar out of you, it’s clear that what their #1 priority is helping you and your pet. Really appreciate these guys and would recommend anyone go there if they have an emergency.

Late one Thursday night my husband and I took our black cat, Luna, here for difficulty breathing/panting. When we showed up they took her to triage very fast which we appreciated. She ended up spending a day there in the oxygen cage and was unfortunately diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Thankfully, she is doing spectacular and is back to her old self and you would have no idea that she has a chronic health issue. We really are so thankful for MedVet for saving our kiddos life and getting her started on medication. The medical care was top notch and both vets explained everything to us in detail (outcome, medications, treatment etc.). The night that we brought her in the vet was explaining everything to us and I got very emotional and I have to say that the vet handled that very well and I appreciated the compassion. Obviously, the cost was expensive as we had anticipated but not outrageous for immediate emergency care and for an overnight stay. They let us see her before we left for the night and told us that we can come visit her whenever we would want to. The only reason I didnt put 5 stars is because when she was discharged we rushed over to get her and it took a little over 2 hours for them to release her (we just sat in the lobby waiting). When I spoke to a worker they said they usually discharge fast so I am assuming that there was some type of mix-up with us that night. Also, to be fair they were extremely busy and this was the Friday before Memorial day. I eventually told a worker that we had been waiting a very long time and had groceries melting in the truck they hurried her discharge papers along.

I had a very poor experience. I took my dog in with a gash on her side not knowing how it happened. She is a rescue so she has anxiety as it is. We checked in and waited. Then waited. Then waited. There were two people/pets in the waiting room. I asked two people how long it would be as my dog had not eaten, she was scared, etc. I was told “about an hour wait”. Then I was told “the vet was checking her records and they will be taking her back soon”. Three more hours went by. At that point I asked how much longer. A snotty, arrogant man at the front desk said that it would be 7-8 hours more. At this point, it was so late that I could take her to her regular vet at the 10 hour mark. I told him to take me off of the list and I was taking my dog home. These people do not care about animals or people. If they did, they would not have arrogant, rude, condescending people working with the public when the owners and the animals are scared and nervous. I’ve had animals my whole life with various illnesses and injuries because I rescue. I’ve never had such a poor experience at a veterinary ER. If I could give negative stars, I would.

When my 14/15 year old dog’s hind legs gave out on him for the last time this afternoon, I knew it was time, and I knew this was where I wanted to take him, in spite of two vet clinics nearby.Every single person we came across was so kind and compassionate. The doctor reassured me that I was making the right decision and respected it.They let me be with him for as long I needed. It is very hard to let a loved dog go, but I am very grateful for the compassionate souls at MedVet who handle their end of life process with empathy, respect, and grace. In a world of challenging and demanding jobs, I know veterinarians and vet techs often get overlooked. Please know you forever have my gratitude.

Absolute worst experience I have ever had at any clinic of any manner in my life. Was told several times I would be seen in a few more minutes....5 hours later I left will never go back or support this business. We had the best experience at MedVet. Our 12-week old puppy starting vomiting a lot in a short period of time. We had to call 5 different places before getting someone to allow her to come in to be seen (this was a Saturday). When we called MedVet, we were told to bring her in and that they would gladly see her. This was a huge relief, as we were already concerned about our extremely young puppy. It was well worth the 30+ minute drive and inconvenience of having to go to a Pet ER on the weekend. The building was extremely clean and the staff was kind and empathetic. They were diligent with getting our puppys information and understanding what symptoms she was experiencing. We were there for about 5 hours total, but that was expected for a Saturday. The team kept us updated and were transparent about how long we could expect to wait. We received our own private waiting room due to her age and not having all of her vaccinations yet. Dr. Amber Hutchinson and the Dr. Coordinator, Nick, were amazing. They took the time to explain everything and provided a variety of treatment options. Additionally, they were upfront about pricing and we did not experience any "hidden" fees. We ended up having to keep our puppy there overnight, but felt as though she was in good hands. I would highly recommend this location to anyone whose pet is in need of urgent care

Our dog, Faye, was assaulted by another dog at an off leash dog park and suffered two deep puncture wounds on 4/26/22.We brought her to Medvet and she was treated by Dr. Hodges and several other excellent staff members (wish I got their names! The entire staff was caring, knowledgeable and compassionate. We feel grateful that this facility is so accessible! Never having been to an emergency care vet, we were expecting a huge cost. We found Medvet to be surprisingly reasonable. Highly recommend!

My cat was bit by another animal which was the reason for our visit. Once we were seen i was told the estimate to treat her was between $818 - $1,356. Thats a very odd estimate, especially considering that they didn’t even close the wound due to infection. So in reality they gave her anesthesia, cleaned the area, gave a rabies shot, did a culture, blood work and bandaged the wound. They ended up charging me $1,147. We returned 24 hrs later to examine her wound, provide antibiotics and change her bandage which cost another $155. ( They kept her for 20 hrs to complete this follow up visit They recommended surgery but considering my experience to this point i wanted a 2nd opinion. I requested an itemized estimate for the surgery as apart of her discharge. I was told they wouldn’t be able to provide a breakdown but that i would receive an estimate via email. Well i never received one. So i called and requested the estimate and even sent an email as well. Guess what? I still never received an estimate. Here we are 10 days later and as far as they know my cat still has a hole in her stomach. So since they could care less i went to a local vet. They examined my cat, cleaned her up, bandaged her again, scheduled her surgery, completed the surgery and charged me $490 between both visits. ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY WITH THIS PLACE AND IS A TOTAL RIP OFF!!! Minus the rabies shot and the culture my local vet completed all the same things Med Vet did PLUS THE ACTUAL SURGERY for $812 LESS!!!!!!!!Please spare me your response about the level of training and expertise your staff has etc.. I’ve read all the reviews of the frustrated customers just like me. Its clear that you have taken advantage of plenty of people and you cannot and will not justify your actions. ITS MONEY MONEY MONEY FOR MED VET!!!! THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL!!! If they cared about my cat they would have followed up with me to check on her and provided an estimate for surgery because again for all they know she still has a hole in her Abdomen area.Thank you to the few people that work there that were actually Genuine, caring and helpful. I believe Mary Ann was the young lady that was the most caring and helpful.

Our puppy needed to have emergency surgery after eating a piece of metal. We took her to medvet and after our experience I could not recommend them enough. They were so kind and treated our dog like their own. They gave us options and were patient with us. During her recovery I had a lot of questions and worries and they answered all of them and made me feel comfortable. We took our dog there in December because she stopped eating. They had no idea why. They came at us on a seemingly daily basis to approve an estimate for more tests and procedures. Finally after approving a feeding tube and trache tube (the only surgeries she had neither of which I am convinced she neededshe had heart failure and was unable to breathe on her own so I let her go peacefully. She was in there for 6 nights. The cost was $10,750 dollars and we NEVER got a diagnosis. They are to this day unable to tell us what was wrong with her. This place is SUPER expensive and obviously not very good. After 6 days we were still “waiting “ for test results to come back from Texas for some reason. They play on your sympathies and never even sent a card to us after she died. The people there are very nice but politeness doesn’t save your pet. Please investigate before committing to a specialty vet. I’ll be paying this back for years to come and we still have answers. Thank you

I had a wonderful experience bringing my dog to MedVet. What I thought was an injured paw quickly turned into my dog being unable to use his back legs in a matter of hours. I took my dog to MedVet and they were able to see him immediately and schedule an appt with their neurologist the next morning. Dr. Leslie on the neurology team was great. He was kind, patient, and was very detailed explaining everything to me. My dog ended up having surgery and Dr. Leslie + the entire staff at MedVet were all very communicative and great throughout the entire process. My dog is home now and appears to be doing great. I couldn’t thank them enough and would recommend them to anyone.

We had an accident with our toy poodle late on a Sunday night. He was hit by a car and a neighbor referred us to take our dog to MedVet. We called on our way and they were there waiting for us. They came out and got our dog and then called back after we handed the dog to the tech(Covid procedure). We quickly got our information given over the phone and the man we were speaking with was genuinely kind and reassured us that they would do treat our dog like their own. The tech then called after speaking to the doctor and asked about pain management for our boy and discussed the price to make our dog comfortable asap. We were then asked if we wanted x rays taken because that would be the first step. We agreed. Within two minutes the tech called back and let us know the doctor wanted to have a conversation and asked if we could come inside. Once inside a private room, which had calming music and a nice atmosphere, the doctor promptly came in. She was so down to earth and let us know what she observed as a doctor but then also explained it so we could understand. Dr. Wells basically said our little boy was just too small to be ran over by a car and be ok. She let us know there were options and they could continue with the X-rays but she just wanted to be upfront with us after examining our dog that he has very severe injuries. We had never been to this vet and Dr. Wells whom we had never met was so kind to have this conversation with us for the well-being of our boy. We decided to put him to sleep with all of the knowledge we had been given. They brought him in to let us say goodbye and gave us as much time as we wanted alone with our boy. Dr. Wells was so supportive and reassuring that he was in no pain and let us know exactly what was happening and talked so sweet to him as she injected him. Two days after leaving we received a card in the mail about our dog that had passed. I have never had such a good experience with a vet in my life. The kindness and compassion that the doctor and staff had in my opinion was above and beyond. We had one of the hardest nights of our lives and the staff truly made it so much better. They have created loyalty from me! Thank you so much Dr. Wells and the staff at MedVet on the night of 2/27/22 for your kindness and compassion to Charlie and his family!! We will forever be grateful for you!

Took my dog there last night which is over an hour away. Called before we went to make sure a surgeon was there cause we believe our dog ate a sock or a foreign object. When we got there our dog was in bad shape. I asked the front desk secretary if the surgeon was there and she said no he d have to be called in. So then one lady said do we have your permission to get her stable it ll be about $1000. I said yes. Then we waited and the Dr came in to tell us the dog was really sick. I m pretty sure we figured that part out on our own. The Dr then goes on to tell me its going to be at least 1800 to get her stable. I thought we was getting her stable for $1000?? So just to get to the point was told 7k to 9k rough estimate to try to save her. I offered them 3k which is a lot of money to us. But they said no. So instead of taking 3k and just try to save the dog they d rather put it down for $300. Makes total sense right? It s a total shame the greed these emergency vet have. They definitely dont care about the animals or they wouldve at least tried. Your animal is just a number with a dollar amount attached to it.

My dog had a spinal injury, causing her to be unable to use her back legs, and I chose to take her to Medvet. I am so pleased with the quality of care she received and the awesome communication from Medvet to me. Dr. Leslie was her neurosurgeon, and he was knowledgeable, kind, and patient. He explained things very thoroughly and clearly and was honest. The rest of the staff was truly kind and we are grateful that they were able to see our dog so quickly. Thank you very much!

This month I needed the services of MedVet. I had a 13 year old dachshund with congestive heart failure. She had been on medication for a couple of months. However, one day she went down hill and quickly. I went for a quality of life visit and saw Dr. Joseph Ielapi. He was very professional and presented me with all of my options. Unfortunately, there was not much he could do for my fur baby and I had to make the difficult decision to have her put down. It was a very traumatic day for my children and myself. The doctor was soft spoken understanding and so kind. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience under the circumstances. He and the staff completely informed me of every step along the way and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye. I haven’t a clue how the staff keeps it together with all of the sadness that surrounds them. Thank you for making our horrible day bearable.

This places deserves five stars. I brought my elderly dog bc she was acting off and she passed on the way here. I didnt realize it until I parked and soon as I did I called and they immediately brought out a gurney took her and asked if I wanted cpr performed. I said yes and anxiously awaited. Not long after I got the phone call saying she could not be revived. I expected that as I didnt know how long ago she had left me. They were so kind. Brought me and my daughter in to spend as much time alone with my pup as I needed with no rush. They gave me after life options and even made an inkprint paw print for me and gave me a vial of her hair. The young lady who came to talk to me was so sweet, stroking my pups fur and asking about my sweet dog. I have nothing negative to say about my experience here only positive. Its never easy on our end to go through this and I cant imagine having to see this multiple times during a shift. You all were so sweet and kind, I graciously thank you.

The staff from the vet to the techs took great care of our little fur baby Talley. We brought Talley in with an injured ear, wounds on her neck, and one on her foot. We were terribly worried that something was very wrong, the staff kept us informed as of the status, was very empathetic, and knows that our pets are our family. Talley was having a very bad allergic reaction which caused a bad case of dermatitis. They cleaned out her wounds and got her on steroids and antibiotics, and just a few days later she’s 100%! Thanks for taking such great care of Talley!

They took care of our sweet Great Dane that cut her side while playing outside. They were very professional and treated our baby girl so well. Dr. Hutchinson did an excellent job with the sutures, and I appreciated the fact that she personally called me with updates and answered any questions and concerns. I would definitely recommend bringing your pets here. I thought the prices were reasonable as well compared to other places. It is also very clean inside.

We have utilized the services of MedVet Pittsburgh on two separate occasions within the last 6 months. We have two labs (9 and 3 years old). Both dogs unfortunately had separate emergencies and both times the staff did an amazing job! They were very informative, comforting, understanding and friendly during a very stressful time. We cant thank them enough for the amazing job they do with our animals. It puts my mind at ease knowing if there is anything that happens with my pups that I have somewhere I trust to take care of them!

We were in a car accident and the dog was thrown into the dashboard in the crash. He lost function of his rear legs from a fractured vertebrae with spinal cord injury. Our primary Vet did an X Ray and missed the issue but this place caught it and kept him for two weeks with 24/7 care. We had therapy for 10 weeks following. He went in unable to walk and came home ready to run.He loves to run.
