melbourne convention & exhibition centre in Melbourne
Privilege
The beef short rib was tender and flavourful whereas the pad Thai was average.Ordering is predominately done via the an app - MrYum.The location is great if you request for the riverside or book it in advance. This would give you a nice view of the Yarra river. The dishes aren’t great in terms of value based on the taste and portions.
MoreGreat venue but I been working there for last 16 years building all expos and events held there
MoreAttended "All energies Conference", they did a great job! Recognised the improvements from events over the years! Keep up the great work. Only negative is parking when events like this are on but it would be difficult to accommodate so totally understandable. Recommend using public transport where possible.
MoreThis place has great access. Very easy to get to. Good parking. However the ability to get food or drink during intermission was bad. Many more vendors or other options are needed.
MoreI love this place, from my graduation ceremony, to covid vaccination. Love all the famous exhibitions on here.
MoreThis complaint is regarding a very unprofessional experience at The Plenary on 22nd October for the Ukrainian Ballet performance. There were a number of issues I experienced that I feel need to be addressed by MCEC:1. Latecomers were admitted in a continuous stream into the theatre for 30 minutes after the show had begun. We were continually distracted by ushers shining their torches and groups of people clambering over the audience to get to their seats for the whole of Act 1 Scene 1, which really ruined the experience. I do not understand why there wasn’t a lockout, where latecomers are made to sit/stand at the very back of the auditorium so as not to distract others and/or wait until an appropriate break/interval to find their allocated seats. This is common practice in theatres, and while frustrating for latecomers (I have been a victim of this at other shows), is completely necessary to ensure the experience of the other 99% of the audience. The people in the row behind me (rightly sorefused to let a latecomer clamber over them into her seat. However, this meant she ended up sitting on the aisle steps until an interval, which is not only distracting, but also an OH&S issue.2. Moreover, audience members continually left the auditorium throughout the entire performance to, presumably, use the bathrooms, and were again not made to wait until a suitable break to return to their seats. One young girl fell down the stairs next to me upon returning to her seat from the bathroom as it was so dark.3. Ushers did not know what time the performance was scheduled to finish. I had to ask four people until I found the answer.4. There were foil and plastic packets of chips and lollies being sold at the food counters, which meant several people around me were rustling/crinkling packets through the entire show. Any other theatres these days only sell food which isn’t noisy (e.g cardboard box of Maltesers, tin of Pringles etc.precisely to avoid this problem. (Not to mention, the food being served was appalling: the toasted sandwich I bought had been sitting under heat lamp for so long that it was hard as a rock l and I couldn’t even bite into it).The whole experience came off as pretty unprofessional and incompetent, and based off this, I would avoid seeing another theatre show at MCEC.
MoreThis convention center is biggest in southern hemisphere ❤️. Twice I have visited this place. One Ilyaraja musuc concert and second time for my sons post graduation ceremony! The convention center is very well maintained and ambiance so rich! Has a lot of rest rooms and well maintained.Visit this centre to appreciate the colossal structure!!
MoreMy personal favourite location for AASCF cheer competitions. Love the shops and atmosphere close by. It might help that Melbourne is one of my favourite cities in Australia. Love this venue and cant wait to be back here for nationals in 2023!! PS. Also came here for the ICO2022 conference and loved the venue so much, so suited to all expos and events.
MoreSaw Professor Brian Cox, was an amazing show. The place was nice and clean but ran out of paper towels in ladies room
MoreA large high standard venue. Comfortable seats. Best seats are middle 3 sections. 2 side sections on left and right of stage are ok, but not ideal.
MoreGreat location, whether for conference or to relax at the park. Lots of great eateries along the southbank, just a stroll away.
MoreWhat can I say, Picasso and his contemporaries it was awesome. The staff were very helpful and environment is excellent
MoreA world class venue for events and conventions spanning all facets of topics imaginable in this societal construct.Worth a gander.
MoreThe venue s very convenient and nice.I was there for two shows. The cinema show which was free was great, however the light show which was $30 was not as big and enought art works for $30 ppl.It was very small. I wish they organize bigger events there. And also the shop to buy art works prints or other related stuff is not as good as NGV.Hope it will offer more versatile products. Thanks
MoreEnormous facility! Easy walk from free tram (Flinders St stop, then walk across the bridge). Went to superb immersive Van Gogh exhibit at The Lume, and then attended PAX convention the following day. Hard to believe that 2 such vast and impressive events could be held within the same building!
MoreIn-Depth Review:Start of Service 5/5*Came here for PAX, surely enough staff wereFood 4/5*Food stalls and cafes were located in the pax event.*ordered the mixed souvlaki and it was okay, but food here is here just so you can fill your stomach. Dont expect anything amazing.**Value 2/5*Event priced food is always on the upper end. Paid close to $20 for a souvlaki, which wasnt that amazing. But at least if filled the stomach!Atmosphere 5/5*Pax event, it was vibing really good, great crowd, half the staff were unenthusiastic (or dont have social skills maybe as it is a gamer crowd? but some were just down to earth lovely people.End of Service NA/5*No last point of contact, so cannot score on thisOverall 5/5*Large convention exhibition centre, food coups be improved, however as a whole event, its great space for large events. No issues and very organised.
MoreGreat venue for conferencesParking can get very expensive!!!!Conference cost me $50 for parking
MoreVisited for PAX 2022 and had a great time. The Expo was really well organised and the setup and facilities were solid. Its huge space and PAX proved it can be used in so many different creative ways. The location is perfect and theres a dedicated drop off area for taxis/Ubers which is useful, especially if its raining. When you leave youre right on the river bank which is great for an afternoon walk or grab some food and ice cream!
MoreGreat place for events and conferences. It has neat and clean toilets. Situated near crown casino and south wharf shopping centre.
MoreVisited for comic con and crunchyroll expo, food and drinks are definitely a little overpriced and not that worth. Cool people, things to buy, and events though. Place was also huge and pretty crowded with a long line if you didnt get tickets early.
MoreConveniently located at the border of Melbourne CBD accessible by public transport. Next to the Yarra River, and across the Crown Casino cum entertainment centre.Spacious exhibition hall, with number of toilets.
MoreAwesome architecture and design...wonder how someone could conceive ,design and deliver these types of structures. The amenities were conveniently located and enjoyed ourselves.
MoreGreat spot to see a show or event, there were several food and drink pop up places prior to our show. We saw PMJ.Saturday nights suggest booking parking early in poor weather as lots of events were on at the same time.
MoreWent here for a concert. Cant really fault the venue. The setup and layouts as well as the seating is comfortable. The audio and video setup is great to be able to experience an event here.
MoreI love this convention centre, it works very well for many events, I’ve recently been to the crunchyroll expo 2022 and it had a couple issues but nothing to much of a bother, such as long waits just make sure to get there early. It is really big works well when you need a big crowd of people and can’t wait to return for the next event. Would recommend to host and go to events for
MoreImportant and fun expo events are being held here. Massive Centre. Upstairs is more rooms for conferences you also can overview a stunning Docklands river. There’s a water dispenser to fill your water bottle. Toilets are kept clean. Ivan in charge and security staff always make sure events run smoothly. If you are lost you can always go to Information desk to assist you and a lot of staff can direct you as well
MoreThe LUME Van Gogh was awesome. Maybe the price is a bit higher than the value but it’s definitely relaxing place where the masterpiece are all around you. There was also nice room with lots of sunflowers and another room with drawing masterclass.Great opportunity to enjoy the time.
MoreGood show.. seemed to be missing a few little things that would have been good.Less of the massage chair stalls would have been a good start. Some very good information on solar batteries and spas.Nice little granny flat as well.
MoreGood venue but customer service is nothing more than door guides! They were unable to answer any questions relating to events, sitting arrangements, size of auditorium.... every question was met by visit the website! Really?
MoreWell kept, great space for expos. Always enjoy exhibiting here.
Enjoyed The Lume here at the convention centre in Melbourne. The digital Van Gogh exhibition is well worth a see. Make sure you get the full experience and enjoy the restaurant that is inside. Its a special experience.
MoreA good venue for a range of events. They need a proper food court there. The food and drinks are pretty average and the poor young employees are dumped on food stations with absolutely no training and have no idea what to do. You wait 10 minutes for coffee as a result
MoreLast experience 2018. This is smashing it. Stalls variety huge and all helpful. Make it happen in 2023 if you miss this year!
MoreWorld class venue hosting a variety of events. Always kept clean, easy access to Polly Woodside. Cafes are cashless so you cant buy food with real money anymore.
MoreGreat venue, always clean and well kept
Very busy when we visited, for the amount of people at two events the venue was clean. The Van Gogh exhibition was over priced for what it was, cafe there got my meal wrong and was a bit of a wait. Lots of toilets available, on site parking and wheelchair friendly.
MoreWow! We came to Reeds gift fairs, shopping up a storm for Green Door Decor! What a fantastical amazing show 🙏🙌👏👏👏
MoreAlways love the exhibition centre. Have been quite a few times for tattoo convention, Camping/4X4 and others.... Location is great and having the Polly Woodside right out front is brilliant.
MoreVan Gough Exhibition. Door 11Must do. Read the story on your way in. Make your way to the cafe at the rear end of the observation room to watch the motion picture show (while drinking your beverage of choice.)Sit at an easel to do an original copy of a sketch (via video tutorial).Visit the gift shop on the way out.
MoreTook my grandson. Have a great area for the children to design own collage, another room to build and be creative. Kept him amused for an hour. He loved the glass with the waterfall window. Has a fantastic Picasso exhibition. Worth a visit.
MoreHIGH CAPACITY, MODERN, GREAT RIVER LOCATIONThe MCEC is a well-designed convention facility right on the riverside, adjacant to some high-end hotels and the South Wharf shopping and dining precinct.Although on the opposite side of the river from the CBD, it is easily accesible via the pedestrian bridge that spans the river (and of course by road). The centres glass walls allow great views out to the river and the city centre.Being a modern construction, it will present no issues for people with mobility issues.
MoreGreat place for conference and exhibitions. Looking forward for another event at MCEC
MoreWell set out space, clean areas, helpful staff and they allow you to store bags.Went to see the lume.Andy Warhol exhibition it was unbelievable. Would recommend to everyone!
MoreLoved the Digital media artwork inspired by Van Gogh. Brilliant!
Lovely weekend. First-time come back after opening up the border. Freedom.
Having a great time with my kids during the easter day event held in Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre
MoreThe Lume was amazing! One of the best art exhibitions Ive ever been too. A must do!
MoreDropped into MCEC to visit the Brickman Lego Jurassic Park Exhibition with the family. Parking was a breeze as you can park at the centre or at Crown Casino which is opposite the centre. The exhibition was a fantastic experience for kids and adults alike, I got caught up building dinosaurs and traversing the dinosaur forest. The escape form T-Rex themed room was a hoot!
MoreI love taking my couples on a stroll through the iconic streets of South Bank. When couples interact with both the city and each other, stunning candid photographs are produced. If you want a city inspired wedding shoot, this is the best place.Love,Wild Romantic Photography
MoreIt is a magnificent building with wonderful views all around. But the seats inside the Lecture room were so packed that I did feel very comfortable with the layout. The rows are many but the gap between rows are narrow and the personal space between seats is very narrow also. I think they should redesign the seating arrangement for all lectures.
