When we travel I find a local yarn shop and I shop! I buy local yarn meet amazing people and today did not disappoint. The yarn is just delicious and the owner is delightful!!
Super friendly, beautiful yarns, very cozy! I bought some gorgeous yarns from 316 Dye Studio - wish I could just buy the whole place, everything was lovely! I will definitely be back!
Awesome local yarn shop in downtown Leavenworth. Mona, the owner, always gracious & helpful with whatever questions you ask or other needs/wants you may have. Wide selection of both fibers & price points. She hosts a weekly knit/crochet/craft night on Thursdays as well as on Saturdays ~ all day long. Great place to come, hang out, & do some yarn crafting.
Lovely shop, family owned. So cozy. Classes can be scheduled for one on one instruction. Beautiful textures and colors. Beautiful store.
Very cute little yarn shop with a cozy knitting nook in the middle of the store. If you are near, you should stop in!
Just discovered this shop today. Love it! Very friendly and great selection. Had a nice talk with the owner. I will be going back.
Always friendly and willing to go out of their way to help you find the right yarn/pattern/tools to suit your needs! Not only is the service great the selection is amazing and very affordable! I love being able to go in a knit or crochet for awhile in the lounge and visit with the owner and others! So cool!
So helpful! Even willing to seek out another crocheter/knitter who might have the backordered color I need!
Super cute shop. High quality yarn and a cut space to crochet or knit! Friendly and all round super cute and comfortable
Great shop in Leavenworth and make you feel welcome
Was able to ask question, give assistance and converse with fellow yarn workers. This is my 2and home.
Great place! Love the yarn! Love the people!
I placed my order at the last minute & Momo’s knitting Nook must have sent it out minutes after I placed the order because I received it two days early & in time for Christmas! Thank you Momo’s this is the most beautiful yarn color combination I have ever purchased & it is so soft! My daughters & sister (the artists in the familywill surely love it!
This is my favorite shop in all of Leavenworth. The yarn is high quality and has a range of textures, colors, and weights to choose from. The owner is very friendly and easy-going. While the selection is a bit more expensive than a chain store, I wasnt surprised by this as the yarn here cant be found in normal big craft stores.Even if Im not buying, I love just going in and looking around!!!
I LOVE Momos; from the awesome selection to the wonderful people. They have a cute little "nook" to sit and knit. It is a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owner, Michelle, is a sweetheart! Pricing is within range of what you should expect for quality materials and aligns with pricing in other shops Ive visited in other states. Sure, you can get online pricing cheaper, but you dont necessarily know what you are getting, you cant "touch" it first. And I like to be able to see true colors and feel my fiber. Being around fellow "fiberists" is also a plus! If you want "cheap" materials, you can find that at any retail outlet that sells yarn. If you want delicious, squishy, soft, vibrant fiber, go to MOMOs!
Warm and friendly place. Very laid back vibe. Wonderful selection of quality yarns and you are encouraged to look and touch. Michelle (the ownerand her staff of volunteers are extremely knowledgeable and there is a great group of regulars who are also willing to help out if youre having difficulty with a project or technique or need a suggestion for yarn for a project. They offer a wonderful selection of classes and private lessons are also an option. They have a childrens area for the kiddos when you want to sit and knit or crochet for a bit. I have crocheted for years but never learned to knit. I took the knitting class, loved it so much that I knitted a scarf then signed up for a sock class. Im now on my second pair of socks and am taking a class to learn entrelac (the basket weave-looking pattern). The staff and regulars love it when you stop by to knit or crochet. There are little groupings of chairs designed for yarning and relaxing. Its my new favorite hangout. To address the poster who had complaints: I spend several hours per week at Momos and I have never seen anyone who wasnt warmly greeted and encouraged to look, touch and ask questions. The prices are clearly marked on the skeins. Mistakes do happen and and if something isnt marked, all one has to do is ask. As for the complaint about "exorbitant" prices, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for yarn for a craft project, there are places in town to purchase those types of yarn. However, if you are looking for yarn for something that you will be proud to wear or display, this is the place. There are many options in the $5-$10/skein range. Yes, there are some yarns that are much more expensive as well. I love the fact that Michelle stocks such a wide variety and see this as a plus.We are so blessed to have this little gem in our town and dont have to drive clear to KC or Lawrence for beautiful yarns for beautiful projects.
This place inspired me to finally learn Crochet and I LOVE IT!I had seen Momos on FB for several months and finally got around to stopping by with my mother (who can crochetin early March of this year. I was astounded this beautiful shop was in my little ol town! I was greeted by a group of happily knitting and crocheting ladies gathered on quaint little sofas and squashy chairs. All draped with lovely yarn work.Being a very visual and tactilely stimulated person, I happily walked around the shop touching everything! (I kept thinking this might be a no-no. The yarn was presented very prettily. But nope! I was encouraged to touch away and ask as many questions as I wanted. I decided right then that I was going to give learning crochet another go! Everyone looked so happy, the yarn made me feel happy, and it is definitely a happy place to go!Michelle (the ownergot me started on a perfect beginner yarn. She recommended one of her classes but with my mom being a crocheter and my work schedule I had to decline. In between my mom, youtube and Michelle, Crochet has quickly become one of my favorite past-times. Its very relaxing and soothes me when Im not feeling well. Which is often unfortunately. I am very thankful to have learned this craft and that there is such a friendly place to go when I have questions. Now to address some of the negatives someone else posted.A. While I respect her opinion there are some things to keep in mind about a small shop. There is one shopkeeper. Not 20 employees who hate their job, but one shopkeeper who is quite lovely, friendly and free with her advice.B. The store is geared for high quality yarn that you can not find at commercial outlets. It is clearly marked on the tags, but it is turned around to showcase the yarn first so you dont see a lot of unsightly tags. This kind of yarn is perfect for when you want to make a garment, scarf, or special gift. Now that Ive been yarning for a couple months I have both kinds of yarns and I prefer Momo stocked yarn because its just so beautiful and fun to work with! Its a spoiling experience that Im quite happy with. I also like to support local business.C. If you have kids, this is a very kid friendly place! Its also a good place to come to get away from it all.D. If youve never learned how to knit or crochet, I highly recommend Momos. Michelle is very knowledgable AND a patient teacher. Ive learned a new yarn trick every time I stop by which is around every other week. (Even my mom has learned new things even though she has been crocheting for many years.)E. There is usually a sale on a certain type of yarn every Sunday. As if I needed more reasons to buy yarn here, but its a good way to try out a new yarn and a new project! In conclusion, Momos is my new happy place. As soon as there is a knitting class available I intend to take it and learn that next. I hope that anyone who shops here come in with an open heart because you will be filled to the brim when you leave!
No greeting on first visit. High prices. Unclearly marked yarn. Not beginner friendly. Browsed store for awhile and was never acknowledged. Ask questions on fb and responses are slow or non-existent. Seems like a store just for experienced customers willing to pay exorbitant prices.
