Wow!!! Awesome chicken and fish!!! Great food, great service. What else is there. Ms. Kim knows how to serve people and how to make them walk away looking forward to the next time.

There was an incredibly enthusiastic waitress, so that was exciting. The food was decent, actually the best fried pickles Ive had in a while, the fish was just okay but the breading is to die for... I tried to the ready-made, take home version and let me just say that if you dont kidnap Ms. Kim as well... you may be disappointed.

Long wait, but worth it since food comes out piping hot, plenty to eat, and get full off of. I had the pleasure to meet Ms Kim, the owner. After I received my food, I let her know that I was part of Black Diamond Journey (BDJand was reviewing the restaurant, she was excited to hear about our start up.

Ms. Kim is so awesome. When she has time she comes out to visit with her customers making them feel as if they are guests in her home. The greens are to die for if youre a collard greens lover like I am. The food overall is excellent.

I would normally give this place 5 stars. They were out of 3 sides. The service was not great this time. They were busy but over half of her guests waited at least 25 min for food. The SC catfish was excellent and the shrimp was better than awesome. I had to ask for my 8th missing shrimp and hushpuppy from my companions dinner. I think Miss Kim may have been on vacation. I would still recommend this place, as the fish is the best in town.

Excellent establishment. Do yourself a favor and order the catfish Mississippi style. Fish had a perfect breading, was tender, and had wonderful flavor. Greens were to die for (I even drank the juiceand the black-eyes-peas are amazing! Also, the owner and staff are very nice! We will return here often! Thanks guys!

The food is good and the staff is friendly. Definitely a place to go for awesome fried fish and chicken. Best chicken for miles around. The chicken is not over cooked like most places serve. Would give it 6 stars. Might need to rethink my scale. The sides are mostly house made.

The chicken was very moist and crisp. Loved the decorations inside. Ms. Kim came out to chat with everyone and was so friendly! Dessert was the best part! So delicious! We got the cheesecake and the banana pudding.

Stopped by for lunch when I was traveling through the area. I ordered the GG special plate, which comes with 2 pieces of chicken and 2 pieces of fish, 2 hush puppies, and 2 sides. I picked the red beans and rice side, and the mac and cheese side. Let me say that everything on the plate was absolutely wonderful. There was not a single thing that wasnt delicious in the mix. Even the restaurants own hot sauce and house tartar sauce were extremely good. I then couldnt resist the call to finish this wonderful lunch with some of their banana pudding. Which was also wonderfully tasty. To anyone travelling through the Columbia area I highly recommend you making this a stop on your journey. And if you live in the area and havent eaten here yet, then whats wrong with you? 5 stars for sure!!

I had modest expectations going in here, but they absolutely nailed the food! The chicken and catfish both had a ton of flavor and cooked perfectly (not overdone like soo many places do). It’s very clear they know how to cook. It’s not as trendy looking a spot as some places around so that may steer some people off, but they’ll be missing out.

We are from Kansas City and stopped on our way through Columbia and glad we did. Great atmosphere and good food. Friendly staff and a clean place. Nice crowd so its a little wait for your food. We were glad we ordered ahead. Enjoy.

Worth the wait for your food served hot and fresh! Delicious delicious! Love the warmly spicey "kickin" variety of their fried chicken. Its not spicey in a hot way, its just got some good pizazz. Cant go wrong with the Cole slaw and mashed potatoes with gravy for your sides. Many other delicious sides available as well. The rice and beans is also a good compliment to either the fish or chicken dinners. The staff is always kind and friendly, which is appreciated. Could sometimes be a bit more attentive to customers drinks, but nothing to complain about. We enjoy the food enough that we drive a bit over an hour one way to eat here when we have the time available to do so. Thanks Ms. Kim!If youre hungry... come on in!

Ms. Kims Fish and Chicken Shack is the place to go in Como! Scrumptious down home cooking! I had the GG Combo (chicken, fish, hush puppies and two sideswith Collards, Red Beans & Rice, and yes.... I had three sides... Black Eye Peas. Yep, I was all in, no playing around. The food delivered and the service did not disappoint. The chicken was perfect crunchy crispy melt in your mouth outside and juicy chicken inside. The greens .. oh my goodness take me back to the South Side of Chicago back in the day when my grandma cooked. Everything was wonderfully perfect! Our waitress, Marjorie, was great, informative, funny, attentive, and gracious. Ms. Kim came out from the kitchen and checked on us. She was a delight. If you are from a family with southern roots in cooking this food will remind you of being back home. The food only leaves you asking yourself one question, " How soon can a come back?" I recommend this spot highly!

This is one of the best meals I have had in Columbia.Edit: I have been back to eat here multiple times now, and I couldnt recommend this place more. The staff is great, the food is better and its always spotless clean.This place is a gem of Columbia.I would eat hear everyday if I could. If you havent had a chance to check the place out, make time. Youll love it.

Do not let the fact that this place is in an old Captain Ds fool you. This place is good, homestyle cooking! I loved the fish and hush puppies. My husband ordered the chicken tenders and they were the best hes ever had. Ms. Kim even took the time to introduce herself since it was our first time there.

It looks like an old Captain D’s, but it is better than that. Southern home cooking. We went for lunch and supper today. The fried chicken is great. Every side we tried was great. The service was great; prompt and friendly. Miss Kim even came out and talked with us during lunch. Highly recommended. We will be going again

Amazing fried catfish and chicken. The sauces were also very good, and the homemade tartar was great. Service is extremely slow so schedule a good amount of tine for dinner. Especially if it is busy. Great restaurant!

On a road trip to St Louis. This restaurant is conveniently located just a few minutes from the highway. The food was excellent and the service great as well--very friendly. Very happy to see the restaurant is closed on Sunday and Mondays so the employees can worship and spend time with family. We were also happy with the full changing table for the little one traveling with us!

Its a bit inconvenient that they frown at people paying with a card and thats a primary reason I dont go there more often since I rarely carry cash, but when I do, I love coming here. Im not personally a fan of their basic fish as it was a bit mushy the one time I got it, but the chicken is fantastic and their macaroni and cheese is, while A bit unsightly, absolutely delicious. I havent tried the fancy fish fillets.

The fish and sides are delicious! They offer both farm raised (my preferenceand fresh caught catfish. I havent tried the chicken yet but heard it or the fish/chicken combos ordered frequently. Clean! and Friendly 😊

Try the Mississippi fried catfish, its one of the best pieces of fried fish Ive ever had! (Its hiding under the chicken in my picture)

If you are in the mood for some good home cooking, this is the place to go! Ms. Kim is great and made sure we were satisfied. I got the catfish and it was amazing.

Its been a while since I ate here, but good Lord, its the best southern cooking Ive had since leaving the south. The collard greens were so good that I wanted to scream and the fish was perfect. No doubt about it. I suggest you call ahead and they prefer if you use cash.

This place is a hidden gem. A co-worker and I ate here to check out their food for catering at work and were very surprised at the quality (and quantityof the food. Staff was amazingly friendly and the restaurant was clean and cozy (dont let the exterior fool you). Good honestly cookin and reasonable prices. We will be back and will be ordering for work events as well.

Never left a review before...ever...but this place deserves it! Had a craving for fish sandwich and the the catfish po boy delivered in spades...very hot and fresh! Sauce was fantastic! Mac n cheese off the chain...sweet tea amazing! My husband and I have already decided its our new favorite place in town. Gotta go back and try the chicken now!

The fish and chicken were amazing! The prices are very friendly and I would go back again. Though I would stay away from the fried pickles, pickle chips that have just a tiny sliver of pickel and were fried to long. The Mac n cheese was good but too rich for my taste.

Showed up on a Saturday with a group of about 15 as they opened at 11. We were the second group in the door, after ordering, we wait. And wait. More customers show up, more are seated, and we wait. Our server came out to refill and ask 3 of our guests if they could change their order because they were "out" of certain items. One of our guests waited over an hour for his meal because there was apparently only one chicken breast in the restaurant. He was offered a discount of $1 for waiting for his food and hurrying to eat it before we needed to leave for our event at the local food pantry. The food was d scent enough. Catfish was tender but also chewy, not sure how that was accomplished...

Great staff, makes it feel like home. Always starts service with friendly conversation.They make the best catfish, we order the school of catfish everytime we go there!!Great sides too, fried pickles and corn fritters are our family fav.

My husband and I ordered the catfish with fries and hush puppies. The catfish was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was on point. The fries were kinda soggy. The hush puppies were a perfect 10. The serving sizes were pretty small for the price. So overall my meal was good and I will be eating here again.

My husband and I love this place. The cat fish is so good !!! We normally get the cat fish dinner with two sides . I love there collard greens and beans and rice oh thats so good . My husband loves there coleslaw. We normally call a head and order ,pick it up for take out . We normally have dogs in car or we would have dinner inside . The owners seem very nice its family owned and operated small business. Love this place! !

Hands down the best catfish in town with amazing side options (get the catfish dinner with macaroni and sweet potatoes). Everything served hot and fresh so you may have a short wait but it is definitely worth it. Staff are always friendly and welcoming

The flavor of the shrimp was great but the fried bone-in chicken was bland and definitely not cooked fresh to order. We ordered a side of catfish filet and they were extremely small in size but they were cooked fresh with good flavor. The portions were very small overall for the the price paid. Presentation is non-existent. Poor seating patterns of diners, no one wants to sit on top of one another when the rest of the restaurant is empty.

We absolutely LOVE this place. Food is fantastic but do not be in a rush - it is cooked to order when you order. It comes out when it is done and piping hot! It is worth the wait! New location means better seating and more space; bring friends and family and enjoy Ms. Kims! Cant decide which is better: fish or chicken. Gotta have both - love that Battle Combo!

Best catfish and mac n cheese Ive ever had in my life! The fried chicken is good as well, but that catfish... Theres a reason people love this place so much. You walk in and you feel like family. I cant wait to see the new location!

I had the battle combo with slaw and red beans/rice. Fried catfish is exceptional, fried chicken could have a crisper skin, but that flavor was phenomenal! Slaw was outstanding, spicy. Hush puppies werent dry. I loved the red beans, but I was the only one at the table that did.Def my recommendation for fried chicken and catfish in town!

Best fried chicken in Mid-Missouri, even the breasts are juicy! Shack juice and shack sauce are delicious! Great selection of side dishes, something for everyones tastes. Service was amazing. We had a large to-go order and they double and triple checked to make sure everything was correct before bagging it up. Cant say enough good things about this place!

Hidden gem...best fried chicken in Columbia hands down! Not to mention the fried pickles and the hush puppies are on point as well. My wife had the Apple Dump dessert which was amazing as well.
