Weirdest place Ive ever interacted. Every time I have called here to talk with the manager shes not in and the person who answers says she doesnt take phone messages. The area doesnt look that great either some rooms seem better than others

Great old iconic Route 66 motel. Very nostalgic vibe. Our room was filled with mint green ceramic bathroom fixtures! Wonderful mid century retro feel. Clean and comfortable Queen sized bed. Good price.

I have a friend living here. It isnt a bad place, its been here since I can remember. They had a restraunt back then. Jim Sponceller was the proprietor back then. In the more simpler peaceful times. For being so old it still looks good. Same owners as long as I can remember. Stop in they even rent by the month. Check em out..๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ˜ŠโœŒ

Great nostalgic hotel!! Very clean, well kept and comfortable rooms. More spacious than modern hotels. The beds are very nice. Itโ€™s dated but itโ€™s supposed to be dated to fit the theme. Zero hair, Zero bed bugs, zero dirt. Forget $150 to stay somewhere else when you can get this gem for a fraction of that.

Room had TINY window air conditioner which did nothing but blow air. No coffee pot. Only amenity was 2 VERY fabric- stained chairs from the 70S. There was a light quilt as bedspread but no blankets, which worked ok since the air-conditioning didnt work. The only customers last night were concentrated in a crowded area where parking was tight. The office closed at 10:pm so if you needed anything after that, it was too bad. The smoke alarm was without light but couldnt reach it to test. Its apparent ownership hasnt updated for decades.. but maybe thats expected to enhance the ambience! Or maybe its for a different reason but it was a very marginal room.

Great nostalgic Route 66 Motel. Rooms were old and clean. Queen bed was firm and comfortable. Chairs stained. Bathroom nice...Blue sink and tub! Small A/C unit caught up about 3 hrs. into stay, but was never uncomfortable. Over all, very enjoyable. A bargain.

Best nights sleep Iโ€™ve had on the trip. The lady who runs it is quite a character and definitely an interesting person to chat to. I loved the stay all round, it only loses a star because the shower pressure was pretty terrible.

The owner. We called to stay tonight as we are doing route 66. Asked about rooms available and were told "come on by" when we asked what the daily rate was and what was their cheapest one the owner promptly hung up on us. I called back and said maybe we got disconnected and she laughed and said "no. I hung up on you. You sound like you just want a cheap motel and we arent that." I was shocked and said that their website said to call and ask for rates to which she replied "I dont tell anyone my rates. We arent a cheap hotel" abnoxious and rude. After my wife booked us at a Super 8 down the road we discovered that this motel is $60/night. Get over yourself lady! And learn some manners! I would never recommend this place. Looking at the reviews from others I see Im not the only one.

Hot water only for one person!! Nightly rate was over rated for the room you get!! The beds where hard as rocks the blankets were itchy the floors were nasty! All in all it was okay if you just needed somewhere last minute to stay!!

I called to see if there was availability on a certain date. I wanted to make a reservation. The woman on the phone very rudely said call back in a couple of weeks and Ill tell you. I said what kind of customer service is that? Youre turning away business? so then I read the reviews on here well that tells me all I need to know -shes been very rude and unfriendly to a lot of people here! I cant believe it- they must be independently wealthy!! what are they doing running a motel then!!!

This is a historic motel, it has been here for 75 years. The rooms are still 1950s Era but they are clean. We came here on a Route 66 festival weekend and wanted to stay on Route 66. The owner is a treasure of Information and so sweet. We will stay here again.

So I have a bad experience about 7 months ago with the owner being rude and told I myself Im not coming back. I was in the area and figured Id stop by again cuz maybe she was having a bad day and everyone is saying shes so nice. So Im here and shes even more rude than last time. Not even a hello just a what do you want? Told her that I was interested in route 66 and she just stared at me as I was looking around so I left. Never again will I stop by or recommend anyone to come. This is my experience today so Im just sharing with others.

The owner was extremely rude. I called the first night and told her ybe WiFi password wasnt working and she said "yea OK thanks for waking me up?" Them hung up on me. Them the second night I called up asking for clean sheets and towels and she told me they font change the sheets everyday and that she left enough towels for 2 days so she wouldnt give me anymore. There were only 2 towels to begin with and I piled them up on the bathroom floor after using them the first night so we had to go and buy towels from Walmart that night just to take a shower.Unbelievable.

This motel owner hires her employees from people whom live there. Then she enters rooms illegally. She doesnt pay them their last paycheck. There are other rooms she rents and empties while people are gone. Keeps their items. She has bug and mold. She has things working there.

Mrs. Ramona was amazing. We just stopped in (my family and Ibc we were at the Rt 66 museum and they told us to stop in. We asked Ramona about her stories and she showed us around. Such a wonderful soul! We enjoyed her stories very much and spending time with history. Maybe one day we will stop in again.

Booked a room (with confirmationtwo weeks in advance, was denied that room when we arrived. This left us with nowhere to sleep in an unfamiliar state, and the woman running it didnโ€™t apologize or make any effort to rectify the situation, just told us to pack up and find somewhere else because she now, โ€œwasnt taking reservations.โ€ This was after I showed her the confirmation email. Donโ€™t bother booking this dump unless youโ€™ll be booking a backup as well, unreliable.

Came here while searching for a Geocache and commented about how cute this place was. We ended up exploring town until late and rented a room here. Its been years since I stayed at a motel. The Munger Moss was clean and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the historical photos in our room.

Munger Moss is a gem, and so is Ramona, the owner.A couple of notes: There are a lot of reviews saying Ramona is rude. We were a bit nervous because we called with our ETA, which was around 9:30pm. We figured it should be fine because the website said office hours are until 10. Ramona was a bit curt, and told us she would try and stay up and that she didnt know what her website says. We made backup plans just in case. When we arrived, Ramona was quiet, but after asking questions about the motel and the history of Route 66, she opened up and became incredibly chatty. She is all bark and no bite. After some great convo and checking in, we connected with Ramona over grief and loss - her husband passed a few years back, and at this point it is just her and one maintenance man working the property of 45 working rooms. It is a lot for one woman to care for.The rooms are time capsules. They are rough around the edges, but not dirty. Bedding and linens were clean, as was the shower and toilet.Ramona hugged us on our way out this morning and made my husband tear up. I encourage you to give this diamond in the rough a shot, and give Ramona a chance to warm up to you.

Called to get a room, the person on the phone said she would not rent a room to us, because we had service animals, I explained I have their PPWK, she stated she would have to charge, as she has not had dogs in her hotel over 25yrs. She need to make herself aware of the disability act and cannot discriminate like she is. Another motel for my atty

I have never written a review on a single motel before good or bad. In the past I have always been critical of the bad reviews written because I felt like there had to be more to the story. Tonight my husband and client arrived at this motel where I made reservations for them at 9:30 pm. No one would come to help so he reached out to me to see what the situation was. I contacted management and was informed in a very emphasized way that they were in bed and she wasnt messing with it. By all means please continue to snooze my money spends just as easily at the next motel. I promise you it wont be spent there ever. For future reference to anyone staying if you think you me be staying at this establishment and are going to roll in past her bedtime (9:00ishyou may want to sort it out beforehand because you will be left out in the cold.

Unique and fun place to stay along Route 66. The rooms are just like they were in 1960 - except for new mattresses, A/C, and wifi. Comfortable and enjoyable stay. And the owner is really nice once you get to know her - make sure to engage in conversation and shell tell you the history of the place - she knows since shes owned it for nearly 50 years!

The owner is a sweetheart and goes above and beyond what you would expect to assure that her guests have a pleasant stay. The rooms are clean and roomy and we loved that she attempts to keep as much of the retro look as it did in the heyday of the Mother Road Route 66.

This motel is such a throwback to the heyday of automobiles, and road trips. Brick units, original bathroom fixtures and tile in great old style colors. The long time owner checked me in, and was incredibly courteous and friendly. The rates are great, and the book in the room details other local merchants, diners, and places of interest. The mattress was great, and the towels were thick and soft. Location is right on Old Route 66, and dining options are nearby.

Love this place and the owners r truly kind hearted and take great pride in their place. And they should. Its an original Route 66 Motel and it has all the classic charm of the old days! Every room is different and very well maintained. Absolutely loving our time here and the people who work here. Its also one of the quietest places weveyever stayed, even if it is a full house. If you ever have the PRIVILEGE (and yes folks Im using it in the right contextto stay at the Munger Moss motel I highly suggest you take it. I have never had a more pleasant experience staying at a motel in my entire life. My wife and I found this place on a late Saturday night far from home and not only were the owners absolutely the nicest people, the historic feel of the motel had us looking up pictures of historic route 66 until a very early morning. Best motel I have ever stayed at and we will be returning. Make it a stop on your tour of route 66 and you wont be disappointed.

My wife and I were 2/3 of the way across the country on our move from California to Ohio. The bearings on one of our trailer wheels failed and the wheel fell of on I44 2.8 miles from the Sleeper exit. We had just passed Lebanon. We were very fortunate to have broken down in this area. We crawled to the Sleeper United Methodist Church to park the broken trailer there. Pastor Martha was there, thank goodness, and gave us permission to leave it there as long as we need to get it fixed. She recommended the Munger Moss Motel. We are glad she did! This place is 70 years old and has lots of character. The owners are very nice people. I didnt have very much interaction with Bob, but I did with Ramona. Let me tell you she is a doll. It took longer to fix our trailer than expected. So we ended up staying with them for 7 nights. Ramona was gracious enough to give us a discount on 2 nights and said the last night was on her. This isnt something one of the big corporate places would do! This is all the more reason to stay here and not the other chains in town. It is super close to the interstate also. The rooms are dated (in a good way), but clean. A welcome change from the blandness found at other places. I felt like I was staying at my Grandmothers place.

This place takes you back in time and it very vintage. Met the owner Ramona and spent some time chatting with her getting to learn about the place. She is very hospitable and keeps the place very clean! The property is well kept and well maintained. We had a large party of people and she kept us all altogether best she could despite all of the changes and add-ons. We would love to go back for another stay! Loved the charm of each room and hope they keep the place going for generations to come! These beauties are few and far between!

I loved this place. I stayed my first night along historic 66, and I booked it based on finding it on one of the 66 sites. Its charming, and Ramona is charming. Its inexpensive, and the room was really nice. I loved the old tile in the bathroom - dark turquoise tub and toilet, mosaic floor with more of a sky blue that matched the walls - and the butterflies on the shower curtain. Theyre not just printed; some are sewn on so that they flutter in any breeze. There was plenty of hot water, the bed was comfortable, and heres the best part - theres not only heat in the main part of the room (quiet heat, not forced air), theres a baseboard heater in the bathroom! What joy to be warm when I finished my shower! The room had both refrigerator and microwave, which was very handy; I dont use hotels much, but based on the next 2 nights of my trip, apparently this is becoming the norm. I liked it, as Im traveling for several days and have food with me that needs to be kept cool, and ice packs to be refrozen each night for the next day. When I checked out, I spent a good half hour chatting with Ramona and learning about the history of the motel and about her history. There are old photos of the area in both the room and the office. shes traveled old 66 herself and knows several of the people along the route, so she gave me suggestions of where to stay and who to see. I, like many of her former guests, will bring hugs from her to them. The only thing I can say against the place is that Ramona is a smoker, and the office is pretty thick with the smell. Shes such a lovely woman, though, that I was able to put that aside, and the room was perfectly clean with no smoke scent whatever. If I could transport myself back there at the end of each night of this trip, I would. I really loved it there.

Great little historic motel on old 66. Clean comfortable, and affordable and very much in keeping with its historic theme. Super nice owners who always make you feel welcome and your patronage appreciated, definitely would stay here again and recommend to a friend. A heads up though, as I said its a Historic Motel, youll need to bring your own hair dryer and maybe a cooler for your adult beverages.

I stayed at the motel for three days. My room was cozy, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked. There is a stated no smoking policy, but there was an ashtray in my room and I could faintly smell cigarette smoke. There was an odor of a room freshener that I found oppressive, but I suspect a smoker wouldnt notice it. Housekeeping was spotty. The first day I was there Housekeeping came in and changed the towels and emptied the waste baskets. I never saw Housekeeping again. The staff was very friendly and the rates were excellent. I would stay there again. You cant beat the rates. If I were in charge of the motel, and I am not, I would rip out the carpeting and replace it with vinyl tile. It would be much easier to keep the rooms smelling fresh if that were done.
