Grabbed take out on a Friday evening. I ordered the Mandarin Lo Mein. My wife ordered Mongolian Beef and my step son ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken. We also ordered Hunan egg rolls and crab Rangoon. I recently relocated here from Florida and I hadn’t been here yet. It was closed for the longest time and I believe it’s still take out only. So it’s a busy night so we decided to give it a shot. I’m not going to beat around the bush. The Hunan Egg Rolls were so greasy that the only thing you could taste was grease. Like dripping in grease. The crab Rangoon was very bland. The out shell was good though. Going out on a limb ordering the Mandarin Lo Mein and I gotta say that it was very bland. No seasoning and a very dark noodle that tasted weird. Not like any I’ve ever tasted before. My wife said her Mongolian Beef was terrible. My step son said we should just went elsewhere. And I have to agree. Definitely pass on this place.
Friendly staff, great food, and quick service. Couldnt ask for me.
Definitely will not eat here ever again. Ordered spicy chicken (which I was told was better than the general tsoand fried rice... this is what my wife and I got... diced chicken with bell peppers and onion with bland rice.
Decided to try this place and unfortunately I will not be going back. The food is bland, not much flavor. The portion and price are good.
Very good food & reasonable prices. The sweet & sour chicken & beef with broccoli were great. Our waiter was attentive & friendly.
Very speedy service and polite staff worth the lunch prices and the food was great!
I ordered the shrimp with seasonal vegetables and it wasn’t great. The sauce tasted grainy and like a bouillon cube was used as the base. It had no authentic asian flavor. The waiters were pretty nonchalant and told us we had to order at the desk and just stared at us instead of helped us. This establishment is very boring and their food js not good. No wonder noone is there. China buffet and china king have way better food. Honestly think this business wont be here for much longer.
Very dissatisfied for a Asian restaurant. May I start with to get any flavor in the food youll have to let the sauce soak with the food and get soft. Bland flavors and nothing unique for its own Chinese restaurant. Inconsistent with how the shrimp was cooked, one undercooked a few over cooked, some ok. Fried rice is the laziest way to say screw your wallet. Literally only egg rice soy sauce and still somehow was dry and lacked flavor. U sell this at 12$ like its something to die for. I wouldnt serve this to homeless because they deserve food not rubbish.
What happened???Used to be best in town!! Did not get what I ordered and my orange chicken had so much water in it you should call it orange chicken soup! And there were only 6 little pieces of chicken! My daughter ordered lo mein noodles but got fried rice
Good food at a reasonable price. Still not open completely yet . call ahead
My husband and I have been going here for 15 years. The food is great, everything is neat and clean, but the most impressive part is the service. Everyone is very friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to please the customer. If you’re looking for a great Chinese place, this is the one you need to go to!
I havent eaten anything from other Chinese food restaurants in Leavenworth. The pork egg rolls are very good and so is their steamed rice. General Tsos chicken is mediocre. The orders have always been correct and done in a timely manner.
This is hands down the best Chinese food Ive had in Kansas, perhaps the entire Midwest. My favorite is the fried rice and the beef chow fun. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. But cant go wrong with anything. Excellent service and owners are very kind. Must go if in the Leavensworth area!
We ordered take out, a fairly big order. They got everything correct. Food was good. They also have sesame balls! (probably not the correct name My family enjoyed the food!
It was not good service sucked food took forever to come out and was brought out 1 at a time 20 min. Apart and wasnt that good small portions and way to over priced would not recommend eating here
Im writing this review at 2am, due to how sick this food made me....... By far, the worst Chinese food Ive ever eaten. Stay away from this place!
Combination rice and Egg rollsMy fav!! And a extra sweet and sour sauce. I should really try something else but Im addicted to what I like. LolGood Place!
I have always enjoyed their food! Pleasant employees and good service.
They have just reopened for dine in and I was lucky enough to catch them while I was visiting the area. The restaurant serves the best Chinese in the Leavenworth area. Whenever I am in town, food from New China Inn is a must have!
Been going to this place since they were located in the old old Leavenworth plaza. But today I decided Im never returning again. Service and food was bad. The real disagreement with over egg drop soup that my daughter ordered. But the waitress actually argued with us and told her no she didnt. So when I ask about the soup. the waitress fired back and said we did not order it and it didnt come with a lunch menu. I decided fine we would leave at that point I would pay the bill and we wouldnt touch our food. This place needs help. Not sure who owns it or whether its still in the same family. But its gone to hell.
Not quite sure where to begin. First must state that Ive been coming to this place off and on since they open business in what used to be in the shopping center.Today I walked out without eating my food I paid the bill. Thats how bad the food and the service was.Bad enough that I will never return to this place. The people behind the counter didnt even seem to care why I had a issue today.
Love their food excellent service even gave us extra fortune cookies for the kids
Ordered curbside. No plastic ware or napkins provided. Coke wasnt cold. Mongolian beef was tender, moist and delicious in excellent sauce with fresh tasting green beans . Rice was bland but became edible eaten with the excellent beef. Eggdrop soup? Who cares. Mixed bag. You could do better, you could do worse
I ordered chow mein, fried wontons and the donuts. I was delivered boiled chicken and I don’t think the wontons had real meat in them. Save your money!
Ordered first time today, magnolia beef and shrimp low mein... small portion since it was lunch special but overall good.
My mother and I have loved this place for many years. I still order the same thing every time, its so good. She would try something new each time and loved them all. We would share a day out, a get a way and this would be where we would end up. If we couldnt get out... they delivered. I recently lost my mom, today is her birthday. So Im thinking Ill order and remember all the great conversations and memories.
The standard by which my family judges all others. We’ve lived and travelled all over the place, and no one has met the quality and taste of New China Inn. Since the day we stepped foot in their small space at the Leavenworth Plaza way back in the 80s, to today, this remains our FAVORITE Chinese restaurant. Best crab rangoon on this planet!!!!
On April 3rd,2020 I ordered curbside pickup at lunch time. 1st visit. Very pricey $7.99 for lunch. Got main course, soup & 1crab Ragoon. This was a snack. Beef & Broccoli maybe 1/2 cup. Rice 6 spoonfuls maximum . It tasted AWESOME. BUT, stopped at sonic for burger. Still hungry.
Do you remember as a kid going to Chinese restaurants where you can sit and be served? Most every place around is a buffet. Not this one! Great waitress and friendly staff. Its always clean. Its our go-to place for family celebrations and has been for years.
Great service and gave great menu suggestions- Empress Chicken
Nice little gem for Chinese food at Leavenworth area. They offer good cheap lunch menu item. There will be soup served for lunch which is complimentary and usually is hot sour soup or egg drop soup. Hot sour soup is the best one. Food is more on the authentic side but slightly adjusted to American taste. Owner and server do speak Chinese. The location is lil bit inside not directly accessible from the street. Good place to eat if you are in town.
Absolutely fantastic!I had the Ginger Chicken. It was served hot, crispy and flavor was excellent. Best Ginger Chicken I have had!Family owned business and entire family is very friendly!I look forward to my next visit!Highly recommend!
Always really good food that theyre willing to customize - definitely my favorite Chinese in Leavenworth and Lansing. The staff are also kind and remember you, and the portion sizes are enormous so the meal price is really for a meal and one to two more in leftovers.
Beef moo shu is the best. Everything is wonderful make sure to try the crab ragoons. Theyre sweet and sour sauce is to die for. Its homemade. The people are friendly. Ive been coming here as long as I can remember. They call me by name when I come in. Wonderful!!! Must try!
They have the best lo mein and fried rice in town! Smaller portions than similar restaurants but priced around the same and unless you have a huge stomach (like my husbandNew China Inn is definitely worth it!!
Best Chinese Food in town, not buffet though, but you get to take your leftovers with you, and the food is absolutely amazing... Their hot tea is also delightful!
Average Chinese food with average pricing. Beer selection was lacking but very cheap. My party of 8 arrived just 15 minutes before they were set to close but they showed no attitude and were very accommodating.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food! I planned on taking the kids to Chinese buffet on spring break, but we ended up here and was not disappointed.
It has been a few months since my last visit, but the food continues to be good. My favorite appetizer is the Goyza, which is the best that I have ever tasted (which given the various Chinese restaurants that I have visited in the USis a high recommendation. If you order, the server will let you know that this will take longer than usual. It is worth the wait. The lunch menu is a good value for the cost and the food is fresh.
Got orange chicken and sesame chicken, tasted like kids cough syrup. As far from authentic chinese food as the little microwave boxes at Wal-Mart only they are at least edible. Would not recommend.
Ive been going here for over 15 years and Ive never had a bad experience. You might find that hard to believe but its true. There has never been an issue with food or service. The staff works hard and I hope people understand that food to order takes time. Also remember that youre ordering Chinese food in KANSAS. So unless youve had anything close to authentic Chinese cuisine, please enlighten me on what its supposed to taste like. This is as good as Americanized Chinese food as youll find and I love it.
Always great food. Service has gotten better over the past year. They have the best cashew chicken hands down. Highly recommend this place.
Very small portions, will not be back. The fried rice was Horrible. Overall experience, youre probably better off going to McDonalds for a better order of fried rice. Still confused though, how do you mess up fried rice?
This was the worst Chinese food I ever ate. Ordered Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice The rice was steamed rice with a little soy sauce added to it. Didnt taste like any Kung Pao Chicken that Ive ordered anywhere else Disgusting. Very disappointed. Dog wont even eat it
This business gets a star.We ordered over $40 worth of food and needless to say, we waited over an hour for delivery, upon delivery food was ice cold, also the portions were so small and look like they came off of a buffet line.We called and complained, to no evail we were not offered any type of comp or refund. Very bad!!!
Their food is always amazing but im a tad disappointed. My family has ate here for years. Best chinese in town. Its so fresh! But i called for delivery and tried to order their butterfly jumbo shrimp (which is listed on their menuand the kid on the phone didnt know what i was talking about. Instead of putting me on hold i heard him ask a young girl if they had it and she "had no idea what i was talking about." sorry but im not an idiot. If you dont have something anymore (because yes they used to have it not sure what happenedprobably should take it off the menu so people arent confused. And so incompetent high school workers have no reason to be rude
This is easily my favorite restaurant in Leavenworth. The food is always fantastic, and more often than not, the service is also good. I wont even go to the other Chinese places in town any more unless Im meeting a group of people for a birthday dinner or something like that. Ill take fresh, delicious food over the variety and sometimes not so fresh food provided by the buffets in town.
The general tso chicken is awesome. Food is made fresh to order. Best Chinese in the area, not a buffet. Staff are always friendly.
The food was the freshest we have had at a Chinese Restaurant in long time. There isnt a buffet but the portions are large enough to share and make your own. The staff was extremely helpful and prompt. Will come back again soon.
The food was very good. My children enjoyed the decor and the food. The problems were:1. We waited 35 minutes for our first entree to come out and the rest straggled onto our table one at a time over the next 15 minutes. The kids food came last.2. We had to ask for plates.3. We had to ask twice for steamed rice for our entrees.4. Some of the wait staff did not know basic things about the restaurant, such as, whether or not they have high chairs (she said no but we found about 20 stacked by the restrooms. We are ordering delivery from them tonight so hopefully they can redeem themselves since the food is really good. I cannot imagine going back to sit down in the restaurant.
