One of our favorite local places for a good sandwich and yummy baked goods! My brother from out of town really wanted a sandwich from a big chain, and I convinced him to go to The Old Grist Mill instead. We werent disappointed!
I love the prices arent outrageous for soup the potato soup was good needed to add salt and pepper though sourdough bread was good all baked goods look delicious not nearly as expensive as some other bread shops in the area and soup shops in the area they have vegetable soup chicken noodle and potato soup on a daily they do have special soups that change you would have to call to see when they do those and what they will be not bad place to eat. I was talking to the staff about bread options they have and I cant wait to try the jalapeno cheddar sourdough bread
Been driving by this place for 6 months and finally stopped in. Ample parking, busy during lunch but staff r very friendly and helpful. U need to fill out a βticketβ with your order, per sandwich - but the staff help as needed. We got the full sandwich combo which includes a cookie, chips, and soda. For two grilled sandwiches (Ruben and French Dipit was $18 - the fresh bread makes the meal! We also got some pastries, my favorite was the scone!
Never a bad meal or service, although they could bring in more potato bread
Cant beat the prices and the sandwiches are πππ dont forget to get sprouts on your sandwich π
Great sandwiches for a great price. Recommend this place for lunch.
Great bakery in Ogden good selection of bread muffins and rolls. Friendly employees and very helpful.
Ordered a breakfast sandwich, for my parents on a croissant & it was absolutely delicious! You get to choose what meat, cheese & if you want an egg on it. The raspberry roll is to die for! Everything is really good & you can order lunch. Give them a try, you wont be disappointed!
Try the cream of potato soup itβs amazing and for dessert get a pumpkin square
I love this place but the chicken noodle is nothing special, pretty sure its just canned soup.I highly recommend checking out this place and getting something sweet
Most affordable, most delicious. Love the sugar cookies and the sandwiches. Everything taste real here, no secret ingredients.
Best deal in town. Both Brigham and Ogden. Food is great
Sandwich was soggy, bread stale. Not clean. Kaysville has them beat. Better all around.
Great sandwiches and soup. Fun place with nice people.
Got a whole sandwich, large cookie, and bag of chips for less than $7! Amazing deal and amazing quality.
Fast and friendly service. The baked goods are delicious. I usually just get a soup and sandwich but I have found myself just dropping by for a cookie.
This place opened across the street from where it is now when I was in Jr high school. (Im 37 nowthis is a classic staple of ogden. The food is out of this world and the staff is oh so friendly. π you are a madman if you think a better sandwich place exists in ogden.
There raspberry cream cheese rolls are killer! Just be sure to get there early in the day to order them. They sell out pretty fast.
If you are looking for something light, fresh, and homeade to order Old Ghrist Mill is the best place!! Very affordable and the Pumpkin Choc Chip Brownies are a must try!
This place is as fresh as it gets! Their breads are made fresh daily and they sandwich combos are super tasty! Iβd take old grist over great harvest!
Lunch order had a few mistakes but the staff was able to fix some of the mistakes. The cookie I had was large and very tasty.
Hey Grist! Can you train your employees on how many slices of meat they put on a sandwich. It varies greatly and makes it a big disappointment. 2 slices... One inch of meat... Get it down for a consistent experience. You are sometimes a 5 star and other times a 1 Star place to eat!
Spent 15 minutes waiting for a 1/2 sandwich while 2 teenagers tried to figure out what to do when a customer told them it was costing twice as much. Then they didnt even get my order right. And a new girl came on shift and told me to leave because I was complaining about their behavior. Man used to be the best place in town. Cant even see thru the cases because the windows are so dirty!! Sad
Absolutely love their sandwiches! Food is always fresh made and soup selection is great and delicious. Service is fast even when they are busy and prices are good. Give them a try, its worth it!
Best soup in town and my daughter loves all of their confections and the like excellent customer service!!! The only thing I didnt like was they changed th roll for th French dips its alot smaller and they use less meat....so order 2!!!!!!
They were busy and got my food to me in a timely manner, but the food wasnt very good. My sandwich was made with all of the toppings clumped together so I had to open my sandwich and spread them out myself. The soup couldve used salt and I didnt see anywhere. The soup was pretty bland sadly. The sandwich was okay, but couldve been better.
Not bad. The sandwiches were average. My son got turkey and ham sandwich, a cup of chicken noodle soup. He didnt complain.I got a BLT, it was fine, just some small things... When I think of a BLT, I think of thick cut tomatoes, bacon, and a leaf of lettuce. The lettuce was shredded and starting to brown (cut up lettuce will do that), and tomatoes were super thin. The bacon was good, how can you go wrong with bacon? One thing that Ive never seen, only the outside of the bread was toasted?I also got clam chowder. The flavor was definitely there, the constancy of the cream was perfect. But, where are the clams? The potatoes? Maybe some celery? The pieces that I did see were so very very tiny, but it tasted good!
Had a sandwich & bought Creme cheese brownies. Such yummy stuff.
Waited 40 min for a quart of soup!!! The girl in charge of soup was staking all the paper. I was trying to be nice to the workers because it seem there are a lot of people still waiting for their orders, most are probably just on break from work. I understand that it gets busy at lunch time but it was never like this before the management changed. I wanted to help local business that is why I still gave this store a chance after having a bad experience last couple times. I hope it gets better soon. Orders shouldnt be stacked like that in my opinion since thay have people assigned to each station. They have 2 cashiers, 3 in the sandwich and a soup person.
Been here twice so far. First, I picked up a loaf of their Pumpkin Spice bread. It was delicious! So fresh, moist and free of any of the preservatives you find in other baked goods. Today I got a turkey sandwhich on sourdough, and it hit the spot. Fresh, soft bread and delicious vegetables and turkey. You cant beat the prices either - $5 for the bread, $4.50 for the sandwich, and about 59 cents for a bagel! I will be back!
Really good sandwiches and for the price its a steak of a deal for lunch! Soups are a variety and the sandwiches are very customizable. Can be a longer wait as the order taking process is a little manual. Oh and the chocolate chip cookie is a psych. Its oatmeal chocolate chip which lets be real, should never go together.
The food is really pretty good, but I dont think they have ever got my order right, and I have been here quit a few times. The latest time I ordered the cream of potato soup and got clam chowder. I ordered a 1/2 philly cheese steak sandwhich with no onions and it had onions on it. It was honestly the most pathetic philly I have had anywhere. It was tiny and had almost nothing on it. The only thing that was right was my drink and I got that myself. They accidentally gave my sandwich to another customer and then asked for it back.
This little bread company is awesome! I ordered 100 sandwiches from them for a memorial. They had everything ready at the time they said they would. The sandwiches were amazing and the sour cream brownies were so good and fresh. I would order from them anytime. The bread is so good and tasted like grandmas home made. Great experience!
Nice little out of the way place. Fair price on food. Staff were super nice and informative when we placed our order. Bonus they have apple beer in the soft drink dispenser.
Save yourself the hassle and go to any of their other locations. Iβve seen lemonade stands run more efficiently than this place. My final straw was waiting 40+ minutes for one sandwich with average traffic. Then driving back to work and finding out I was given the wrong sandwich. They basically gave me everything that I didnβt circle on the sandwich design form.I called the store to see if I could at least get a refund since the one I got was disgusting and they told me all they could do was fix my sandwich if I brought it in.I loved this place while growing up, but the amount of incompetence they displayed today will keep me away for the rest of my life.
This used to be one of my favorite places but it seems to have gone down hill with covid or something. The last time I was there is was hard to tell they were open. I waited at an empty counter for a while before someone came up to help me. That said, the bread is still amazing and the sandwiches are top notch.
I love Old Grist! We are in here 2 to 3 times a week. Angela and crew always make my sandwiches with love!! O.G. has the worlds GREATEST oatmeal raisin cookie. Tell them Doug sent you!!
Love the breads and cookies and scones here. They forget masks sometimes so I placed it at 4 stars. They also seem to have high employee turnover as Ive never had the same person twice. Custom orders Ive made were correct 4 out of 5 times as well.
Iβve always loved the gristmill their sandwiches and soups are the best. I love their raspberry rolls so today I ordered one and two more to go . They had very little raspberry compote and the flavor was almost nonexistent. The first one I had was oozing with raspberry filling. What happened??????
Food quality is excellent. Its the only place you can get a legit sandwich and soup for a reasonable price these days. Plus, the bread ends are and unbeatable value and perfect for french toast. I really love this place.
This is my 2nd time at this Old Grist Mill and I am still satisfied with how great the service is and how delicious their sandwiches and soup. Cant wait to go back again and try their other sandwiches and soup. Their bread is really amazing. Social distancing is being practiced at this store and their store is very tidy and clean. Thank you so much, Old Grist Mill Bread Co for providing great service and great food.
I normally eat here a few times a week and the food quality service and speed have always been good. Recently the service has started to slip. The wrapper to every sand which I have received in the last month has had large dollops of mayo on mustard on them, making a mess of the tables and my clothes when i eat. Today I went in and left after 45 minutes of not receiving my food. My lunch brake is now shot and my coworkers will have to deal with a hangry person.
The bread here is fantastic and if you are looking for a quick bite to eat they have the best value. Fresh ingredients and delicious soups and baked goods. We come here frequently because we love it so much!
We were bringing sweet rolls to market with out referring offices from this location. We had come in several days in a row and purchased over $250.00 worth of sweets. This morning there were plenty of sweet rolls in the case but the employee stated that her manager said she cant sell us the sweet rolls anymore. If you dont want to sell your sweet rolls then dont put them out in the case for customers to see. We went to Kneaders down the street- they put together several beautiful trays for us and did it happily. If you use baked goods for marketing- Kneaders is a better bakery to work with.UPDATE: I appreciate your honest response to my review. I know it is challenging to train team members in customer service. I am glad my review provided an opportunity to work on customer service.
OGM has always been a favorite in our family. Its nice to get a sandwich and soup on a rainy day. My biggest complaint is the service. As the years have gone on the service has progressively become lacking. We usually go mid afternoon so its teenagers that are running the place by that time. You cant expect a lot from them, but sometimes its nice to be surprised. One will take your order then all of them will sit and have a conversation before they start to get your food. They are slow and there is always something wrong with the order when we get it. (Maybe if they focused for a second. Its hard to miss when you are the only customer, and this isnt just once... its every time we go in.
First time visiting. I think we found our new chat spot. It was very open, welcoming, and not overly busy. Had fantastic chicken noodle, and everything they had out was fresh! Had some sourdough bread and it was fantastic as well. We were able to sit and talk about game of thrones for as long as we wanted without feeling rushed, crowded, or too loud.
Came here because we love their sandwiches. We got here about an hour before closing. The lights were almost all off, there were no lids for the cups and we had to search for a clean table to sit at. There were no other customers in the store. The employees were in the back laughing and eating. The place was so dirty! Its like they just dont care. The sandwich was good though. Their chicken salad is good. But I wonder if their lobby is so gross, how gross is the back?
This place is delicious. Their potato soup is my favorite, and their bread is really good. Ive been going here for years because it is Great Harvest quality or better, but much easier on the wallet. You can completely customize your sandwhich when you order, which makes it easy to change it up each time you visit.
I really liked this place. They had delicious fresh brownies and cookies for a good deal. It was fun to take my kids. The only thing I didnt like is that we came late, which was my fault, but I had asked if it was too late to make a toasted bagel and the lady kinda rudely looked at me like that was a dumb question, and proceeded to tell me it was too close to closing time, and they couldnt do it. The food is great but I just thought she could have been a bit nicer about it. :)
Always has fast service. Great place for lunch. Best sandwiches around. The choices of breads are several. Cookies, brownies and other things to take care of your sweettooth are a must! You cannot beat the soups! Several choices to choose from and always hot. Delicious!
