Like being back in a trattoria in Italy. Affordable quality food served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The tasting plate for 2 is great value. My friend who had lived in Italy for 2 years was very impressed by the meatball with pine nuts. Interestingly although that it claims a northern influence on the menu there is also a significant southern bent to the menu as well

Totally scrumptious food -we had pork balls in slightly spicy tomato sauce followed by superb Sicilian Apple Cake with cream. Really friendly and helpful staff. Bellisimo

Food was divine! The tasting platter is a must try and an affogato to cap off the experience. Service was great with quick and friendy staff. Will glady give 6 stars if I can.

Pork meatball delicious, moist and full of herbs. Apple pie not too sweet and goes well with coffee. While most restaurant close on Monday, Origini is open on Monday. Excellent service.

Absolutely fabulous little gem. The garden in summer is wonderful Luca is just so fabulous you might think you’re in Italy. Service is great . And the food is always good . I’m local so feel blessed to have such a wonderful place on my doorstep

Beautifully cooked meal ( slow cooked lamb with orangewhich I highly recommend. Staff very efficient and friendly.

WOW! Absolutely incredible food.Arriving at this little cafe feels like entering someones home. The environment is warm and cosey and the staff are wonderful. The food was the ultimate comfort food and couldnt have been more delicious.The ravioli in chicken broth was absolutely devine. I hadnt had this dish since I was in Bologna and made me feel at home. First experience of exploring Castlemaine with my friend living in Newstead. I live on the fringe of Melbourne. Luka made me so welcome. It was just wonderful. The food simply to die for and the coffee Bellissimo!!!Authentic Italian hospitality. Loved it. 💟💟💟

Cute little authentic Italian cafe. We just had coffee and cake, and the cake was delicious! They also have a nice courtyard but the weather was a bit too cool. Friendly service too.

Wonderful, warm and attentive service and the food and wine were delicious! Sitting at an outside front table, we enjoyed the spacious, relaxed main street feel. Our puppies sat with us too. We had the Assaggi tasting platter for 2 and the Bendigo Shiraz. A perfect way to end our afternoon exploring Castlemaine. Well be back before our trip is over. Highly recommend.

Drove from Bendigo to see if the reviews were accurate. We were not disappointed. The courtyard is lovely. The staff were professional, friendly and sincere. The food has a lovely authentic flavour and the minestrone soup was divine. Excellent coffee and lemon tart too. It’s such a good feeling to leave a restaurant feeling content. Thank you.

Try the food here, incredible. The Salmon Bruschetta with Organic Mulberry juice was divine. A little slice of Italy, best enjoyed on a lovely sunny day outdoors.

Italian cafe in the heart of Castlemaine with home made cakes to die for and authentic Italian pasta, soups and bruschetti. Hugely popular for coffee, but also a great spot for a cheeky glass of wine with lunch. Limited indoor seating and out the front, but theres a gorgeous courtyard out the back with trees providing ample natural shade from the sun.

What an oasis in the Main Street of Castlemaine! We loved Origini and its green leafy courtyard and broad yellow market umbrellas. A simple fresh menu of piadini, salads and pasta. Delicious coffee and bakery treats. So much deliciousness coming out of such a little cafe!

Excellent original “ gemütliches” environmentMeaning “ more than homely. It also has a touch of elegance. Well done Guys. Ingrid and Luca began this process with my blessing and it has the best soup and food in victoria. Luca good luck with the running of your amazing cafe. It’s the only place worth visiting in Castlemaine if you want friendly staff and the freshest food. Luca the owner also sings some great Italian tunes ( Eros ramazzotti - Favola will always remind me of him singing awaycan’t understand it but it’s from the heart and as an Austrian I get the whole Origini thing. Outstanding, warm, wonderful. By far one of THE best cafes, and not just in Castlemaine, either! Origini is a gem—a favourite go-to of mine, to be sure—and a place that not only serves excellent, Melbourne-calibre coffee, but also absolutely scrumptious food. Their nosh is always delectable, without fail. Many a free morning or afternoon has been spent in their beautiful, leafy courtyard out the back. Heres to many more!

Origini is absolutely our favourite place in Castlemaine! We mourned when it was closed during COVID like a dear friend, and rejoice not that its open again!

Usually the coffee is bad when the food is so good but no, the coffee was delicious as well. We were received a warm welcome and some delightful chatter. Thanks for the scrumptious lunch!

First-time customer, on a short stopover in Castlemaine, and a local recommended Origini to me. Their staff are friendly, and their coffee tastes good. As a bonus, I was able to briefly practice my Italian, with Luca, as busy as he was. Worth a visit.

Although it took a while to get our meals, the food was great. The owner was very apologetic and gave as a small tapas to make up for the delay. Comfort meals just the way nonna makes it.

Wonderful little Italian eatery in the town centre of Castlemain. Authentic home style cooking and great service. The Italian owner has a great sense of humour and all the staff are great too. Definitely a great spot for lunch/dinner or even just a drink. Fantastico!

Great little courtyard out the back if you cant find a table inside.The food is really excellent and you may even get a chance to test out your Italian language skills! Also a good coffee (a must if you are in Castlemaine).

Really good coffee, and just a nice atmosphere. Very cozy, and the owner is very friendly.We had a canoli, which was perfect, and went with the coffee so well. A touch of lemon zest, and the balance of the crisp pastry, with the creamy filling.

Very genuine and cosy place, be prepared to share small tables in a tight space full of character. Small but excellent, varied menu. We enjoyed our insalata tonno and ravioli en brodo. Will definitely go back next time we pass through Castlemaine.

Superb food and really excellent, friendly service. Wish I could give 6 stars. Great coffee too. The guy that runs the place is a really enthusiastic Italian guy who is obviously passionate about what he does. The attention to detail in the food is amazing. I had the tomatoe and chili soup, which was just incredible. My wife had the frittata with pesto and she was very impressed. Nice cozy atmosphere too, and they also have an outdoor alfresco area that looked nice, but was too cold for us the day that we were there.

We discovered this lovely place when we visited the area. The food and it’s service was lovely 😊

Lovely taste of Italy in rural VictoriaWe stopped in for a quick coffee prior to our gallery visit for a coffee - which was excellent, and quickly decided to come back for lunch later in the day because it had such a nice atmosphere.From a small kitchen, Lucca and Daniel manage to serve some lovely food, ranging from breakfasts, piadinas, bruschetta, zuppa, and several assagio plates and a pasta special.All lovely, along with very friendly service.Oh and the cakes all look excellent but we were too full to sample them.They open at night and add pizzas to the menu.
